TONY ATLAS & TITO SANTANA HEADLINING ECWA DEBUT IN ATLANTIC CITY, NJ THIS SATURDAY

Thanksgiving weekend has always been a time to get together with family, see old friends, watch some football and eat like it’s your last meal before an execution. But, for many years, Thanksgiving weekend was also a time for pile drivers, body slams and figure-four leg locks, as some of the most popular professional wrestling events were held annually this time of year. That tradition continues 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, when East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) brings its “High $take$” event to Showboat Atlantic City.

“Back in the day, WWE (Word Wrestling Entertainment) had the ‘Survivor Series’ and the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) had ‘Stargate,’ and they always took place on or around Thanksgiving,” says ECWA owner Mike Tartaglia. “That was the big wrestling thing, and they’d kind of gotten away from it.”

Saturday’s event has all the makings of a classic night for wrestling fans, with three title bouts and a special six-man tag team matchup featuring WWE Hall of Famers. The two stars from the glory days of pro wrestling in the 1980s will team up with Jay D. Luscious to take on ECWA Tag Team Champions “One Mean Team” of Brain Johnson and Justin Pusser along with Adam Chandler.

“Tony Atlas is up there in age, but his arms are bigger than mine and yours put together. He’s huge and still in shape and still a personal trainer,” explains Tartaglia. “Same with Tito. He still gets in there and wrestles. He’s not going to phone it in. They’re going to get in there and put on a great match. Both guys are in their 60s, but you’d never know it by looking at them.”

With a 50-year history, the ECWA is the oldest independent wrestling organization and puts on events primarily in southern New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. The organization prides itself on shows that the whole family can enjoy without the risk of having to cover kids’ eyes and ears or having seniors running to the exit in horror.

“Our promotion is family friendly. We don’t do any of the hard core stuff,” says Tartaglia. “There’s no blood, there’s no cursing. Kids come to the shows, parents, even grandmothers and grandfathers. You’d be surprised at all of the older people who like wrestling.”

One of the aspects that keeps families entertained are the interesting storylines, which have been a hallmark of the WWE for years, but as Tartaglia explains, aren’t always highlighted on the independent circuit.

“Some of the promotions don’t run storylines, they just do shows. But we’re like the WWE in that we actually do storylines. We’ve done some things where wrestlers will get into a feud and it ends up in a cage match or the loser leaves the ECWA. Even though we go to different markets, we will continue the stories.”

Big names and storylines are key ingredients for putting on a great event, but without skilled wrestlers and intriguing matchups, things could fall flat pretty quickly. Luckily this “High “$take$” event has both. The ECWA Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs, as defending champion Azrieal faces off against “Pro Wrestling Maniac” Joe Gacy. The Mid-Atlantic Title is also on the line, with champion Breaker Morant facing challenger Chris Wydle. Rounding out the championship bouts is a women’s matchup between champion Karen Q and Deonna Purrazzo.

In addition to a great night of pro wrestling, Tartaglia is also looking forward to enjoying a potentially fruitful relationship with Showboat, which he hopes will help Atlantic City’s fortunes moving forward.

“Back in the 1980s the AWA (American Wrestling Association) ran shows in the Showboat Hotel and ESPN used to film them. What’s pretty cool about the whole thing is that there actually was wrestling there. Professional wrestling is part of the history of the Showboat, so I’d really like to see it do well. We’d like to establish a new fan base and help bring in new business and people to Atlantic City.”

KAMALA HEALTH UPDATE

Here's a positive update on former WWE star James "Kamala" Harris.
Harris was taken off life support today and is, thankfully, now breathing on his own.    Harris has been awake and alert enough to understand his family and doctors as he has been weaned off the medication he was on post-surgery, but has not been able to talk as there is still a tube in his mouth to assist him medically.

It is still going to be a long road ahead but today's events as a big step in the right direction

And SPEAKING of guys catching up, look at Meltzer here doing just that :)

Right here is from his Wrestling observer webpage 'daily update' for today. So like I've been saying it's nice to be able to one up the more well known names from time to time.

Since Meltzer likes 'tweeting' so much I bet if someone nails his twitter account asking him how it feels to get one upped by me on a regular basis? Meltzer won't have any balls to respond to it, LOL.

On Saturday night, Tommy Dreamer invited NWA Worlds Champion Tim Storm to his House of Hardcore in Philadelphia, PA. During that moment, Tommy Dreamer was granted a shot at the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title. This brought out an angry Nick Aldis who feels he should be getting the next shot.

This interview with Tim Storm took place moments after they got back from the ring and features Tommy Dreamer

TOMMY DREAMER SEMINAR IN MINNEAPOLIS

The ACADEMY in Minneapolis, headed by Ken Anderson and Shawn Daivari, announced that Tommy Dreamer was coming in for a seminar.  Here are the complete details:

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., November 16, 2017 – The Academy is proud to announce that our next training seminar will feature former WWE, ECW, GFW/TNA Impact Wrestling Superstar Tommy Dreamer

.Tommy Dreamer brings 28 years of professional wrestling experience to the table and has left fingerprints all over our industry still seen today through his contributions in the ring and behind the scenes in ECW and as an executive working in WWE's Talent Relations Department scouting and hiring talent who have gone on to become some of the biggest stars in our industry.

After training under WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Rodz, Dreamer began working independents in the Northeast United States, eventually landing in what would become ECW. In ECW, Dreamer had memorable feuds with The Sandman, Raven, The Duddley Boyz and others as well as capturing the World Heavyweight Championship and the Tag-Team Titles on 3 separate occasions.  Dreamer then joined World Wrestling Entertainment as part of the ECW Invasion with fellow ECW Original, Rob Van Dam. Dreamer would win WWE's Hardcore Title a record setting 14-times, and retired nthe championship on the main event of RAW emanating from a sold out Madison Square Garden in August of 2002.

Shortly thereafter Dreamer also spent time on RAW's creative team and took over some administrative duties in helping injured talents find proper care and rehabilitation before returning to the ring.   In 2004, Dreamer transitioned into WWE's Talent Relations department full-time, where he was head of their developmental territories. Dreamer helped groom developmental talent before their call-ups to the main roster as well as scouting wrestlers from around the world to sign to WWE contracts.

In 2005, Dreamer booked and produced the "ECW: One Night Stand" pay-per-view, which put the gears in motion to revive the ECW brand the next year following "ECW: One Night Stand II." And in 2009, Dreamer captured the ECW World Heavyweight Championship for a second time, becoming the only man to have held the ECW World Heavyweight Title in both the original ECW, as well as the newly formed ECW brand under the WWE.   Since then Dreamer has popped up in a multitude of wrestling companies around the globe including two runs in TNA Impact Wrestling as well as two returns to the WWE, most recently with other ECW Originals to feud against the Wyatt Family in 2016.

Dreamer has also began promoting his own "House of Hardcore" wrestling events starting in 2012 in New York. Since then, House of Hardcore has grown into a full touring wrestling company all over the United Sates, as well as various countries around the world. The Academy will be holding two seminars and will be open to anyone looking to gain knowledge in the world of professional wrestling, regardless of experience. All are welcome from those with no pro-wrestling training, to established wrestlers looking to expand their knowledge and take their game tothe next level.  The first seminar will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for those who have had 0 to 20 professionalwrestling matches. From 8:30pm to 10:30pm will be the second seminar for those who have had 20+pro-wrestling matches.

I'm sure somebody wants to know this. WHY THE MIZ DROPPED THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Last night's WWE Intercontinental championship change, with Roman Reigns defeating the Miz, was done, due to the Miz taking time off to film a movie.

One source believed Miz would be going to film the latest installment of WWE Studios' The Marine movie franchise.  There have been five films thus far in The Marine franchise, with The Miz starring in the last three.  We are told that there is no current timetable for Miz's return and last night was his final appearance until filming is completed.

PWInsider plays catch up to me again and, They LIE to the people who view their webpage.

Last night I posted the two latest videos on NWA World Champion Tim Storm. I posted it BEFORE PWInsider, Torch, Observer and everyone else (which has been the usual). HERE you can see how they're playing catch up to me with them making an announcement of the videos.

https://www.pwinsider.com/article/113746/nwa-champion-heading-to-czw-cage-of-death.html?p=1

In this announcement they 'claim' "As noted here last night at PWInsider.com" BUT.. if you go to their main webpage? https://www.pwinsider.com/ There's NO ANNOUNCEMENT from last night to be found.

So in essence Mike Johnson of PWInsider is full of shit. Isn't it nice to know that certain 'big name' wrestling sites outright lie to the very people who visit their site? Someone should email Mike Johnson and ask him why he's blatantly lying like that for.

Watch PWInsider, Torch, Observer all play catch up to me(again) about this. New NWA Videos

Not one but TWO different NWA Videos featuring World Champion Tim Storm. You can email Dave Scherer and Mike Johnson at PWInsider and tell them how I beat them (and all the others) to the punch, again. :)

NEW WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CROWNED (You're going to hate this, UGH!)

Roman Reigns captured his first-ever WWE Intercontinental championship during the main event of Raw from Houston, Texas this evening, defeating The Miz in a main event that was set up earlier in the broadcast during a MizTV segment.

By virtue of his win, Reigns is the 78th competitor to hold the IC championship.

KAMALA UPDATE

An update on Kamala.  We are told by a source close to the family that the former WWE star underwent surgery due to some diabetic complications, including fluid in his lungs on Sunday.  He had been dealing with some health issues in the days leading up to this past weekend.

Several sources have been told that yesterday, things looked really scary but over the course of today, Kamala showed some improvement, was able to open his eyes and was a little more alert than he had been.

Kamala is still heavily medicated and on a ventilator but the hope is that as they take him off the medication, he will continue to be more responsive and they can then work on getting him off the ventilator.

Obviously, it is still touch and go at the moment so keep Kamala and the Harris family in your thoughts.  He's not out of the woods yet.

Amateur Wrestling group out draws WWE attendence wise? Say it ain't so. lol...

Fresno State wrestling returned for the first time in 11 years. More than 6,800 fans attended, outdrawing most WWE and men’s basketball events. David Taub writes for GV Wire, based in Fresno.

Here's the link on the story.

http://gvwire.com/2017/11/20/wrestling-wreturns-crowd-goes-wild/

Think McMahon and WWE will learn a lesson from this? probably not.

The advances for Raw & Smackdown in Houston were not strong at all. Similar to NXT. It's easier for the crew to work four shows in the same building and live gates aren't that important to business, but the idea of four shows surrounding Survivor Series in one market and getting a lot of people to travel didn't work out that well. Last night's show was a legit sellout but it was the only one of the four shows to have a high ticket demand.

KAMALA HOSPITALIZED, SERIOUSLY ILL

James "Kamala" Harris, 67, who worked for a number of promotions over the course of his career, is currently hospitalized in Oxford, MS.  According to a Facebook post from a family friend, Harris (who has been dealing with a number of health issues in recent years, including diabetes that resulted in the loss of both of his legs) is currently on life support.

Harris, who released an excellent autobiography a few years ago, headlined against Hulk Hogan for the WWF, feuded with Andre the Giant, waged war against Jerry Lawler in Memphis and was a staple of professional wrestling in the 1980s and early 1990s with a tremendously memorable "monster" character in Kamala.

Kamala was one of those hard-working journeyman talents who's colorful personality added a lot of the tapestry of professional wrestling. everyone keep him in their thoughts and prayers

Always nice to see something like this, in my email box.

Every week I plug shows here I tell the companies (or whoever has the video) that I'm plugging them here, and leave a link to this blog so they can see for themselves. So to get something like this, a company that appreciates the fact a fan likes to watch it and thinks it's good enough to be shared with many others here. Is very appreciative indeed. And if you've become a fan of this company (or any one I've posted here) you should tell them. because the more fans they have watching the more exposure it is for them and their product. :)

No injury update on Drew McIntyre yet.  As of last night, he had not definitive word on his arm injury.

If you ever wondered what it was like when a WWE talent does something that Vince McMahon doesn't like, the 365 WWE Network documentary on Kevin Owens literally features a scene where McMahon shuts down Owens with one word and then ignores him backstage at Wrestlemania, unhappy with the Owens vs. Chris Jericho match earlier this year in Orlando.

For those who have asked, while there's been no official cancellation announced, it appears the WWE Network's Bring it to the Table is done.  We are told the set was literally put in storage and there are no plans for future episodes currently. Batista On Fans Chanting 'CM Punk' Despite Punk Walking Out Of WWE, If Daniel Bryan Was Held Down

Source: The Ross Report
As noted, actor and WWE alum Dave Bautista, also known as Batista, was a guest on The Ross Report with WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross. Among many other things, Batista talked about his favorite matches, being upset when fans booed Rey Mysterio at WWE Royal Rumble (2014), and his most recent run with WWE.

According to Batista, his favorite televised match was a Hell In A Cell versus Triple H, presumably at WWE Vengeance (2005).

"My favorite match is that Hell In A Cell I had with Hunter, actually. It was in a No Mercy pay-per-view, I believe. The reason why I love that match, and it wasn't nearly as good as the one I had with Taker, definitely wasn't as significant or as big, but the reason I love this match is because I think up until the very last second, and we beat the hell out of each other and that was in the good old days when you could do that and we were bleeding everywhere, we were going to war with each other and we started this match with people chanting, 'boring! Boring!' By the end of the match, we just had everybody just sucked in. This match they literally didn't know what the outcome was going to be until the very last second, which is hard to get done. And I felt really accomplished coming out of that match."
Moreover, Batista shared that his favorite match of all time was a house show match against Rey Mysterio in Mexico.

"My favorite match of my career was actually a house show match I had in Mexico with Rey. Yeah, yeah, I was [the big heel] and I begged and pleaded because we weren't on the card. I was a short-termer in the company and we had torn it down. Working Rey as a heel in Mexico is a dream. It's anybody's dream come true. And I begged and pleaded with [Johnny] Ace to give me this match and I finally got it and we gave them a pay-per-view match, man. When we came back from the match, everybody was… I mean, people were applauding, the boys, they were applauding us. We turned a house show into a pay-per-view and we just gave everything. I mean, everything, all the bells and whistles."

On his most recent run with WWE, Batista said he was heartbroken when Mysterio was booed at the Royal Rumble.

"That was one of my big issues when I went back [to WWE] last time. During the Royal Rumble, like, I had a real issue with people booing Rey Mysterio coming out, just because he wasn't Daniel Bryan. And I get their love for Daniel Bryan, but at the same time, that's not a reason to s--t all over Rey Mysterio because he's not Daniel Bryan, man, that broke my heart. That broke my heart, man. If one guy doesn't deserve that, it's him.

Batista suggested that the situation with Mysterio at the Royal Rumble was indicative of the disconnect he felt with the WWE Universe. 'The Animal' divulged that he did not have a meeting of the minds with the fans during his last run with WWE, as he did not understand why the fans chanted for 'CM Punk' after he walked out on them.

"But that's what it was like the whole run. The fans, it just changed so much and I didn't know where the fans were at. It was just a weird atmosphere and a lot of 'CM Punk' chants after he walked out, which I don't understand and I love CM Punk, man. As a person, Phil Brooks, I love him. I love that guy. We've always gotten along. I've got a lot of respect for him, but I didn't necessarily like the way he left the company and I thought, 'the fans are cheering him like they're martyring him, and he really just walked out on them.' I didn't love that."

Similarly, Batista said he did not understand how the wrestleverse could think that Daniel Bryan was being held down.

"So a lot of that and 'Daniel Bryan' chants and it's like every segment. And I thought, 'man, these people, if they get 16 segments of Daniel Bryan, that's going to get old real fast. Man, really? Just wait for the guy.' And there [were] people saying, 'Daniel Bryan's being held down.' Man, this kid's living his dream! He's featured on every show, he's making millions of dollars, how in the hell is he being held down? I just couldn't see eye-to-eye with what these people were thinking, man. It just didn't seem to make any sense to me at all."

Kazarian injured, Daniels suffers mild burns at ROH weekend shows

Both Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian were injured at Ring of Honor events in Texas this weekend.

Kazarian took a bad bump taking the Indytaker move, a spike piledriver, during the finish of Friday night's main event in San Antonio, a match with The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes & Stephen Amell vs. Daniels, Kazarian, Scorpio Sky & Flip Gordon. Kazarian didn't work last night in Dallas, and flew back home to California before the show. It was thought on Friday to have been a possible stinger.

Daniels suffered mild burns last night in Dallas from a spot where he took a powerbomb through a flaming table. Cody defeated Daniels in a Texas Death Match to retain the ROH World Championship at the show.

Those at ROH believe the injury to Kazarian is not serious, but he won't be on tonight's show in Oklahoma City. The belief is that Daniels will be able to work tonight's show.

Letter I read somewhere, and I agree with most of it.

A subject that often comes up is the question of logic with regard to booking e.g. "What happened to the 30 day title defence rule?" or "Why are Ziggler and Roode suddenly on the same side when they've been beating the tar out of one another for the last several weeks?". Episodic TV shows used to, and may well still do, have someone on the staff whose responsibility was "continuity" i.e. making sure that the script didn't suddenly become nonsensical like someone being in a different place without some explanation of how they got there or being dressed differently. Should WWE be doing this sort of thing, or don't they care? Or does Vince consider that to be beneath his product? After all, if he considers it to be "entertainment", shouldn't it be produced as such?

If you ask me?  Oh yeah I think that they should have a continuity person.  I have been saying that for years.  However, Vince McMahon doesn’t think that they need one so that is the way it is.

Like they really thought that NOBODY would notice that? DUH, dipshits.  Yeah, you got some real fucking geniuses working there at Anthem Sports. Top notch thinking there and yet, they want fans to take them seriously, LOL. Yeah ok. Jim Herd working for this group? because this probably would be something he'd do.

Want to buy a New Japan pro Wrestling shirt for ten bucks? Here's where.

BBC story on woman wrestler Viper.

Someone in WWE really thought THIS was a great offer, NOT!

A WWE Network offer sent to some people advertised that you could buy Survivor Series as a one-time purchase and access Network content through Monday for $24.99. With the first month being free to new subscribers and it being $9.99 to anyone else, that wouldn’t seem to be much of a deal. Much of the appeal of still offering traditional PPV is to reach people without good internet connections, but you’d need one to watch Survivor Series with this option anyway.

Interview Highlights: Greg Gagne talks about Ric Flair, working with him as a booker, does he regret being a family man

Former AWA Tag Team Champion Greg Gagne, who was featured in the ESPN Ric Flair “30 for 30” special, was a recent guest on the Pancakes and Powerslams Show. Gagne discussed the behind-the-scenes process of the special, shared more Ric Flair stories, discussed whether Flair regrets being a family man, difficulties in working with Flair as a booker, and more. The following are the highlights sent to PWTorch.com by @PeterBahi…

•On Who Got in Touch With Him to Appear at Money in the Bank 2017:

I imagine the call came down from their main office, but it was a request from Triple H and Stephanie [McMahon], and I guess they’re the ones who are calling the shots down there so that is where it came from. Vince [McMahon] was very gracious and he came up and thanked me for participating and being there. It was a nice event and a nice thought. Of course, you know every time they do something it helps them, so whatever it does to help them that is what they are going to do, but they’re good people and treated us well.
We had a great time, and spent two long nights with Ric [Flair]. We spent time together since way back in college, all the way from when we started wrestling, we were pretty close friends, and always had some interesting evenings with Ric, that is for sure. It was great to see him. I had a flight at 4:15 a.m. and we got in at 2:15 a.m., so when I came home, my wife said that you and Ric must have had a good time. Yes, we definitely did.

•On His Overall Reaction to Ric Flair’s 30 for 30 Special:

It was a great experience. We did two and a half hours with them, and then they took out what they wanted. They ended up getting the stories that they wanted, which is what I am sure they did with everybody. They got all the stories they could have gotten out of it, but I knew Ric since he was in high school; not real well, but we were in the same conference. I knew the name, and we met. He was a huge wrestling fan back then, and as the story goes, and I repeated it on “30 for 30.” He had gotten in trouble and his parents sent him away and came back we were in college together. He got recruited by a number of schools, he was a projected All-American when he came to Minnesota but he never registered for classes so he didn’t compete much.
There are a lot of great Ric Flair stories from college days. Murray Warmath was our coach, and he knew Ric and I were friends. For some reason, I was supposed to be taking care of him. I get the call one day from Murray saying that Ric didn’t register so he couldn’t play football. He got hooked up in a fraternity. This was when Murray had called me one day – and Murray is from Tennessee so he calls me with this accent; “Where’s Flair?” I said to him that I don’t have a clue where Ric is. He lives in a different area than I do; he’s in a house, I’m in an apartment. He told me that I had to find him. I responded by telling him that I don’t know how I could find him, but I asked if there was a problem? He said that there was a problem because that Flair charged the school a phone bill total of $1,800. These were all long distance phone calls. He asked me to help him find him. I asked where he was calling and Murray said Michigan. Apparently, he met a young Wendy on a recruiting tour, so he was calling back and forth to Michigan to talk to her. We couldn’t find him. I find out that she finally convinced him to come to Michigan. He was there for a month and a half but nobody knew where he was. He ended up coming back and got an ear full from the coach. I don’t know how he ended up settling the $1,800 but it was settled someway.

•On Whether Ric Ever Expressed Concern Over Not Spending Enough Time With His Family:

No. He had no concerns at all about them. What I got a kick out of it is when people say that wrestling made the Nature Boy who he was, but Ric Flair was the Nature Boy before he ever got into wrestling. That was really who he was. When we graduated from Verne’s training camp, Ric was around in the AWA for a while. We had a few matches together, and then he would send everybody out to different areas. Jim Brunzell went to Kansas City for a couple of years, and Ric was sent to North Carolina where Verne had sent Ricky Steamboat. He knew he would get the type of education that he needed because they wrestled every night and competed with each other so he can come back to wrestle for the AWA. He would send everybody out for a year or two and when he thought they were ready he would bring them back to the AWA.
He had his two year stint in Charlotte, which then he ended up getting into that plane accident, which ended up breaking his back. They saw the potential that this guy had, and they didn’t want to let him go. They didn’t want to send him back, so we checked up on him. Nobody ever knew he would wrestle again. He came back and the Crocketts got him going. He had that natural charisma. He caught on quick with the people and they didn’t want to let him go. The only way they could let him go was to get him a position to win the NWA World Championship. Once he got that he was on the road all the time, and we couldn’t get him back over here. He did come back over here once, where he faced Nick Bockwinkel in Winnipeg. We had two champions against each other; it was a phenomenal match. We really wanted him back here, but we just couldn’t get him.

•On the Difficulties of Trying to Get Flair Back in AWA:

Ric became so established down there and he had the opportunity to carry the NWA. Anytime you were the champion and able to carry the AWA and NWA was a strong indication for anything that WWE was coming out with at the time. When you wrestled for the McMahons – I remember having a match with Johnny Rodz – it was the second match on the card in Madison Square Garden. Vince McMahon Sr. was there. We went out and tore the place down; we had the people standing. Vince McMahon Sr. came in and said to us, “Man, that was a heck of a match. What are my guys going to do?’ I said that I guess they better try following it. It was very funny because, I’ll tell you a good example.
There was Pedro Morales, who was a huge star in the WWE. He came in to the AWA and they were going to give him a big push, but he couldn’t get established here. He couldn’t get passed the third match on the card. It was a totally different style. The McMahons wanted big guys, cartoon characters, they didn’t care if they competed or not. In the AWA, that match had to be competitive and we had the top athletes in professional wrestling that came here because they only wrestled 270 days out of the year, not 360. We had time with our families and you gave yourself time to heal. The matches were much more competitive. Coming from New York, they didn’t know how to do that. When Vince needed people from us, like when “Superstar” Billy Graham and went up there, six months he was a main eventer. Bobby Duncam Sr. is another example. It was so different, we could be elevated in the WWE real quick, but when they come here, majority of them never really got into the main event category here because the matches were conducted.

•On the Insecurities of Flair As a Booker:

Flair wanted to be back there. He had opportunities to be back in the WWE and he felt that his roots were in the NWA and WCW. There were people that groomed him and made him who he was in the ring, so he felt some loyalty there. Ric came in and it was Mike Graham, Dusty Rhodes, Bill Dundee and myself booked all the TV’s and all that. They got Ric involved when he came back. It’s hard for guys that are in the main event to get their egos out of it when they are booking. They make it around them, and that was a little difficult with Ric.
I laid down a scenario that I think would have really done well, but he didn’t like it, and he felt that we were trying to move it out, and we weren’t. He didn’t listen to the long-term picture. He went on with the way he wanted to do it and it didn’t work out well, but I told him when we were riding in the car that if he had just let me finish and tell him where we were going with it and how we got there, it would have made sense to you, but you are so sensitive that we are all the same age, that we were trying to move him out, but that wasn’t the case at all.
Once he found out what the plan was he apologized, but that’s the way it was and later on, with [Hulk] Hogan, I helped him get in there. Then they got Kevin Nash and Scott Hall back in there because Eric Bischoff didn’t really know what he was doing, and all of a sudden he is listening to them. I laid out a scenario when they bought the AWA and they already owned the AWA, let’s create the two champions with Hulk Hogan as AWA Champion, and Ric Flair as NWA Champion, and you’ve got something Vince McMahon can’t do, which everybody wants to see is them beat. I laid the whole scenario out with Bischoff and the TV people, and a week later he fired me.
All of a sudden it was WCW and the NWO, which worked good for a year, but they didn’t have the spoke in there that could run that wheel and make it work. I was trained by my father that when you book, you have to book a year out and see down the road with it, but nobody down there knew how to do that. So, when they fired me, nobody knew how to get to that long range that they all thought they did but they didn’t. Most of them ran weekly where we started a year out and went backwards. Bill Watts, when I got there said that here is why I am bringing you in. I give you 24 hours to give me a scenario and so I laid out a whole year in front of him and when I came back they were blown away, and he told me that was what I learned from your dad, which is why I wanted you here, but there was too many conflicts down there with personalities. You had to be careful not to step on their egos; you weren’t, you were just doing what was right for business, and sometimes they don’t, sometimes you miss it, but with Flair’s scenario, when he came back where we had the AWA and NWA we could have taken Vince McMahon out of business.
