NJPW Returning To AXS TV With New Weekly Series

The new deal with AXS TV’s owner, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, was announced during the broadcast of Night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom 16 on Tuesday. New Japan had a weekly series on AXS TV from 2015-2019.

The new agreement gives AXS TV the option to re-air those past broadcasts. AXS TV will begin airing select episodes from New Japan’s first run on the network beginning on January 20. That episode will feature the IWGP United States Championship match between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho from Wrestle Kingdom 12. New episodes will begin airing on March 3.

The agreement also puts New Japan’s weekly series on Anthem’s Fight Network. The network is available in Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

New Japan’s new timeslot on AXS TV provides it with Impact Wrestling as a lead-in. Impact’s flagship show airs Thursday nights from 8-10 p.m.

New Japan and Impact Wrestling have been working together and sharing talent over recent months. The working agreement has brought Jay White, Minoru Suzuki, Juice Robinson, David Finlay, El Phantasmo, and other New Japan stars onto Impact’s broadcasts.

Impact wrestlers including Moose and Josh Alexander have appeared on recent New Japan shows. And Impact’s Chris Bey landed a spot in Bullet Club last summer after accepting an invitation from Jay White.

“There is a great deal of support and synergy between the two companies, and we could not be more proud to have them back on AXS TV as they prepare to celebrate an incredible milestone in NJPW history,” Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore said in a news release. “We are excited to continue to build on our growing relationship with NJPW, and look forward to seeing what new opportunities arise from this partnership in the future.”

Will This End Anytime Soon? Nope - WWE 2K-RANDY ORTON TATTOO LAWSUIT TRIAL POSTPONED YET AGAIN

The U.S. District Court Southern District of Illinois (East St. Louis) has once again postponed the trial regarding the lawsuit brought by tattoo artist Catherine Alexander against World Wrestling Entertainment, Take-Two Interactive Software, 2K Games, Inc., 2K Sports, Inc., Visual Concepts Entertainment, Yuke’s Co., Ltd. and Yuke’s LA Inc.

In a ruling made yesterday, Judge Staci M. Yandle decreed, "Given the current surge of the omicron coronavirus pandemic in this district, the Court has determined that a jury cannot be safely impaneled and trial cannot proceed as currently scheduled. Accordingly, the January 31, 2022 trial setting is hereby VACATED. "

As it's been covered over the last several years, the lawsuit, initially filed in April 2018, alleges that all of Alexander's tattoo work on WWE star Randy Orton are her original designs that Alexander owns.  Alexander has stated that she has never given any of the defendants permission to recreate them in the WWE-licensed videogames, therefore the defendants have all allegedly infringed on her copyrights.

In the suit, Anderson stated that she performed the tattoo work on Orton between 2003 and 2008 and that "are easily recognized by his fans and members of the public."  She also noted that, in advance of the lawsuit obviously, she "submitted applications to register copyrights on each of the aforementioned works on March 15, 2018."  She also alleged that she has previously contacted WWE regarding material featuring Orton's tattoos being sold by the company in 2009 and at that time, they offered her a $450 fee for the rights to the designs.

Alexander claimed she turned that offer down and at the time, "told WWE that Plaintiff did not grant any permission to WWE to copy, duplicate or otherwise use or reproduce any of Plaintiff’s designs."

Alexander has alleged that by recreating the tattoos in the WWE videogames, the rights to her designs are being infringed upon.  She also alleges in the lawsuit that "Mr. Orton does not have ownership in the copyrights asserted herein and has no authority to and did not grant permission for Defendants to commit the acts complained of in this Complaint."  Orton has not been named as a defendant in the lawsuit and has never commented publicly on the situation.

In a ruling issued on 9/26/20, Judge Staci M. Yandle ruled that WWE and Take-Two had indeed copied five tattoos that were Alexander's original work that were tattooed on Orton and that she holds valid trademarks on.  Judge Yandle did deny Alexander's request for a summary judgment (which would have been a knockout blow for her legally, setting up definite damages) citing that some of the tribal tattoos Orton has inked would not allow for a judgment, sending it on for a jury to decide.  It also noted that while there is no question that WWE copied Alexander's works, they have laid out three potential defenses that the jury can decide for itself whether to agree with or not.

With the Judge siding with Alexander, there are several issues that a jury will decide, including whether Orton was automatically granted an implied license to have his tattoos recreated via WWE's licensed products, if they would be considered copyright infringement if Orton did not have that license, whether the tattoos would fall under "fair use" (brief excerpts of copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder), whether the tattoos are de minmis (too trivial or minor to merit consideration legally) and whether there would be damages due to Alexander.

There are a lot of eyes on the case given that scores of videogames that feature professional athletes recreate their tattoos in the games, and this case could set a legal precedent for other tattoo artists to follow.

The case has been pushed back numerous times before.  Originally, it was pushed back as the original presiding Judge retired from the bench, requiring Judge Yandle to take over the proceedings.  The trial was then pushed back again to June 2020 at the request of 2K and several other plaintiffs then again to February of this year and will was to finally take place this month until being delayed yet again due to COVID-19.

A new trial date will be set on 1/19 following a conference between all parties.

Will Ospreay Brings Warrior Wrestling Title To Wrestle Kingdom

Will Ospreay is back in Japan for the first time since the spring of 2021, looking to officially add the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to his collection of belts. Ospreay  brought with him the Warrior Wrestling Championship, which he could be seen carrying during his entrance during Night One of Wrestle Kingdom 16.

It marked the first time the championship was represented outside American soil.

You can see that entrance here https://www.instagram.com/p/CYTzOsmBeiI/

Touting Will Ospreay’s appearance with the belt in a press release, Warrior Wrestling took the moment to announce that Ospreay will defend the Warrior Wrestling Championship on Saturday, January 22 against AEW star Brian Cage. The match will be Ospreay’s first defense of the title, as well as Warrior Wrestling’s first show outside of the Chicago area, taking place in South Bend, Indiana in the Bendix Arena.

Will Ospreay’s defense against Brian Cage will be his first defense of the Warrior Wrestling Championship. It will also see Cage, who was the inaugural Warrior Wrestling Champion back in 2018, attempt to become the first-ever two-time champion in company history.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE Of How Someone Needs Lessons On How To Upload Things Properly (Unless You Like Watching Silent Movies)

Whoever the uploading "genius' is over at Championship Wrestling must've fell asleep when he was uploading this, because... THERE'S NO FUCKING SOUND!

No intro music, no sound of the fans, no commentary, NOTHING but total silence on this.

How fucking stupid can one person be?

Obviously another example of someone being such a dumb ass, that he didn't even NOTICE there was no sound as it was uploading.

Did the 'brainchild' who did this even bother to CHECK and see if there was any sound before starting the uploading process?

Obviously since there is no sound, we all know the answer to that question.

The answer is, no.. he wasn't smart enough to even see uif it was uploading correctly.

Guess they let 'just any jack ass' upload stuff these days.

Just TWO DAYS AGO we had this 'fine example' of five star uploading. https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2022/01/somebody-sure-needs-lesson-when-it.html And now we have this story tonight.

You can't make this kind of shit up, you just can't because people really ARE, this fucking stupid.
