James Storm On His Impact Departure, If He'll Get Heat For Farewell Promo, Changes Needed In Impact
Recently on Cerrito Live, former Impact Wrestling mainstay James Storm addressed his departure from the pro wrestling promotion. Also, Storm talked about whether his farewell promo will ever air on Impact television. Finally, Storm shared his thoughts on the future of Impact.
During the interview, Storm confirmed his Impact Wrestling departure, saying he feels like he has accomplished all of his goals at Impact. Additionally, Storm suggested that the regime change that saw the ouster of Jeff Jarrett may have influenced his decision to part ways with Impact.
"It actually hasn't [become] official for me, but, yes, I have left Impact Wrestling and it's just one of those things where it just kind of felt like I did everything I can do with that company and the landscape of it has changed from the time I was there."
Storm continued, "but so many people want to frown upon Dixie [Carter] and Jeff [Jarrett] and all that, but the reason I thank them and Bob Ryder is because basically if it wasn't for those guys, there would be no 'Cowboy' James Storm. There might not be an AJ Styles and might not be a Bobby Roode, might not be all these other guys who got the breaks that Jeff gave us when he started up TNA Impact Wrestling back in the day."
Apparently, the farewell promo Storm cut after competing in his final match for Impact was not planned. Rather, Storm wanted to go out on his terms and does not care whether he has heat with Impact brass as a result.
"Hey, I left - who cares if there's heat? No, it's just one of those things. I just grabbed [the microphone] because, like, if I'm going out, I'm going out the way that I want to. I'd do the match however they wanted, but at the end of the day, when I grabbed that microphone and said what I had to say, it was from the heart. And being on the road so long, I wanted to say to my wife and my kids, 'hey, I'm coming home for a little while and daddy gets to spend time with you because I'm taking time off, letting my body heal, and then go back at it.' And also, like I said, Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Bob Ryder, without those guys, a lot of the guys you know now wouldn't be around and they gave us a platform."
As for whether the farewell promo will ever see the light of day, Storm did not seem confident that it will ever air on Impact television because 'The Cowboy' namechecked Carter, Jarrett, and Ryder.
"As far as the video, to me, I don't know. I doubt it, but I'm not for sure if that footage will ever be seen. It might now that it has leaked out on the internet."
Storm said, "but those guys needed to get kudos. They always get crapped on for all the negative stuff that goes on, but they never get the praise for the good stuff that happened."
With respect to the future of Impact, Storm admitted that he does not know where it will go, but wishes them well because The Hexagon is another place for pro wrestlers to work.
"I wish I could say either way and I never wish bad upon anybody and I definitely don't wish bad upon Impact Wrestling because I'm not there anymore because to me, it gives the boys another place to work where they might not have another place to work. It gives them television exposure and all of that. And as far as where they'll be, I don't know. I just know that they need a lot of work in different departments. It's definitely not the wrestling side because the boys are bringing it. So, hopefully, like I said, hopefully, they'll be around for a while, just to give the guys another place to work and be able to make a living."
Storm stressed that Anthem needs to improve its marketing of Impact. Also, Storm mused that NXT vs. Impact Wrestling could have been done on the WWE Network if WWE bought Impact.
"It starts from the head of the snake and that's Anthem. They need to make changes to make it more marketable to me. That's what I always said, 'what would've happened if instead of Anthem, WWE got ahold of [Impact] and put it on the Network and did something [like] NXT versus TNA or something like that or whatever the name is?'"

AUSTIN ARIES TALKS LIFE AFTER WWE WITH SEAN WALTMAN
SEAN ‘X-PAC’ WALTMAN TALKS ABOUT KEEPING THE RIGHTS TO INTELLECTUAL
PROPERTY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESS RELEASE- Los Angeles
X-PAC 12360
Wrestler, Austin Aries is the special guest on X-Pac12360 and talks about life after the WWE

Sean “X-Pac” Waltman on Companies Owning People's Intellectual Property:I think it can be a situation where both sides can feel that they’ve won. I think that when somebody goes there (Impact Wrestling) and they create something (Broken Matt Hardy) that they should be able to take it with them. But when they go, the company should still be able to exploit that and still market it as well. I’m for everyone getting a piece we don’t have to be greedy here. Everyone can win.
Austin Aries on Being Contacted by Impact Wrestling After Leaving WWE:We had some talks but really for me, the only position I was interested in there; was the position of being a decision maker. I told Dixie (Carter) when I left there I wouldn’t come back and work for anybody. But If I was going to come back there (Impact), that I had to be in a position to make a difference. I know they just went through a big régime change I know we had some discussion about me coming in there and possibly being part of the team. But I know where I am right now in my career and all the possibilities and things I have in front of me I really couldn’t invest myself emotionally into that because let's be honest they’ve got a lot of work to do there. They’ve done a lot of bad business over the years and they’ve got a lot to overcome. And I think the guys there know that and I wish them luck.
Austin Aries Talks About The Kind Of Wrestling Promotion He’d Like To Work With: I don't wanna stamp my name of approval on places that aren't doing it the right way or at least trying to do it the right way. It's very important to me that if I show up somewhere, I'm going to believe in what you're doing or trying to do. And if I feel at any point that that shifts, I have no problem walking away from that. I'm not gonna patch my name on places that are doing the old way of business. We want to move forward, we wanna have places where guys can make a good living.
Austin Aries Talks About FAN Support Through Merchandise: It ain't about that last twenty dollars, I don’t know how many of those things [merch] that I'll give away or I throw an extra one of this [merch]... I respect those people who do show up and show their appreciation because that is how we [wrestlers] supplement our income.
Austin Aries Talks About Endless Opportunities:I had to divide my time, had some restrictions and during that time, I had a herniated disk in my neck and I had to get right before I can get back in the ring. I'm really lucky and thankful that my opportunities were endless. I have seen people reaching out, booking me on their show. I really had the opportunity to pick and choose where I wanna go, make my own schedule, decide where I wanted to stamp my name.

The tenth episode of the School of Morton podcast co-hosted by WWE Hall of
Fame Inductee Ricky Morton of the Rock n’ Roll Express is available for download

today, advice for the future, plus stories of partying with Ricky Morton, Dusty
Rhodes, Road Warrior Animal, Chuck Berry, and Dan Aykroyd.
Ric Flair on being in the hospital: “I got a really sharp pain in my stomach. I knew the pain. That was very similar to the pain I had the last time. Wendy took me to the hospital and my intestine had broken open and that’s the last thing I remember. I don’t remember anything else. On Monday they put me in an induced coma. I stayed in that and on life support for 11 days. I don’t remember any of it. I just dreamt.” He added, “I had to learn how to walk again. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t twist the top off a Gatorade bottle or open a diet coke I lost forty-three pounds.”
Ric Flair on falling off a boat that was in motion and Ricky Morton rescuing him: “I was trying to figure out my way. It was about a mile to the shore each way… maybe a little less I was trying to figure out which way was closer when you guys found me.” Ricky Morton talks about pulling Ric Flair into the boat, “This is true… this is Ric Flair he had a $2,000 suit on… I pulled Ric in the boat. He had a necktie on, one sock, and his underwear. That’s all he had on”.
Ric Flair on Matt Lauer: “$25 million a year salary. Are you kidding me. Who could blow that deal?”
Ric Flair on his advice for living life, “For me I would say make the most of every day. When you come close to losing that opportunity it makes you realize all the more how lucky you are to have that opportunity. So make the most of every day.”
