99% of the 'marks' out there love to claim that Ron Simmons was the first black world champion. I thankfully know different as it was iceman King Parsons. I remember seeing it happen on tv in Chicago when World Class had tv there. So sorry "marks" you're wrong again, it'll never be Ron Simmons and will always be Iceman Parsons.
Iceman King Parsons is arguably the 1st black World Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. Parsons defeated Kerry Von Erich and held the WCCW Heavyweight Title from March 25, 1988 to May 8, 1988 after WCCW had seceded from the NWA. Ron Simmons would later win the WCW Championship by defeating Big Van Vader in 1992.
