Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have both exited Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have both exited Impact Wrestling,

The belief among multiple sources is that they are each WWE bound and will be working for WWE shortly.  Impact Wrestling informed their roster of the departures in an email that wished each of them well.

Impact sources have described the departures amicable, categorizing the company as not wanting to hold back either of them from "great opportunities" that they were each offered.
Abyss had been working behind the scenes as a producer for the company.  He was the longest tenured performer in company history, having started there in 2002.  He had been with the promotion the entire time, with the exception of a short period where he exited as he was not under contract, before signing a new one and returning.
Dutt had been very involved in the creative side of impact, working with Don Callis, Scott D'Amore and Jimmy Jacobs.   He worked for the company as a wrestler from 2003 through 2009, exiting and later returning during the time period where Jeff Jarrett came on board and brought his Global Force Wrestling braintrust with him.  When Jarrett departed, Dutt remained and rose in power, eventually becoming one of the top writers and producers for the company.
It's been noted that Konnan and Tommy Dreamer have been added to the Impact creative team as a result of Dutt's departure.

Jake Roberts Responds To Wrestler's Claim That Roberts Scammed Him Out Of $10,000

Former wrestler Jerry Grey was a star across many promotions in the 1980s including Mid South Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions. Nicknamed the Golden Boy, Grey became a promoter after retiring from the ring, but was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer in 2018.
Recently, Grey posted on Facebook that Jake "The Snake" Roberts had scammed him out of $10,000 over the years which would come in handy as he's battling cancer. Roberts responded to those claims when he dropped by the Why It Ended podcast featuring Robert Strauss and Matt Koon.
"Jerry's [made] some mistakes you know, he's said some things that aren't true. He's trying to raise money to pay for his care," Roberts said. "I know he's having a tough time, but Jerry when you team up with Honky Tonk [Man]..."
"It seems like he's calling in debts from 25 years ago," Koon jumped in. "It doesn't seem really fair."
"It's a lie, it's a lie man," replied Roberts. "Jesus Christ, where in the hell is he gonna get 10,000 dollars? If he loaned me $10,000 wouldn't he have get it writing at least?
"Jesus it's the most ridiculous crap ever, and here's how you know... Honky Tonk's involved... You know, give me a break, Honky you loser, sit down and shut up."
Honky Tonk Man's level of involvement in this is a bit unclear, but Roberts seems to indicate that Gray used Honky Tonk Man to spread the allegations that Roberts scammed Grey.
"You know when you are down and out and you're dying of cancer, things aren't too damn good, I get it," said Roberts. "But don't attack your friends Jerry.
"Jesus it's just so sick it's sad, and just because Honky can sell 'hey man if you did it it would be a good way you can get a bunch of people up Jake's ass, and guess what? They will probably throw some money at you. You know what I mean man? Because no one knows who you are Jerry, and you can get some publicity on ya'.... Jesus Christ man... Welcome to Memphis Honky... Go home.
It seems to be a "he said, he said" situation and no one knows the truth except the individuals involved. But Jake Roberts did say that he hopes Grey is able to prevail in his battle with cancer.
"I hope he recovers, no one needs to die of cancer," stated Roberts. "Yeah I want him to get better, and I want him to admit the damn truth… Fans I do support him, I hope you do."

The Undertaker Poses With Impact Wrestling Stars At "SHOT Show" In Las Vegas Today

Former Impact Wrestling World Champion Eli Drake and reigning Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie are making appearances in Las Vegas today at the annual SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show). For the past 40 years and the 10th year in a row at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, firearm industry professionals gather for SHOT Show, the largest trade show for target shooting, hunting, outdoor and law enforcement products.
The Undertaker was on hand for the show, and Drake posted the photo below with the phenom and Valkyrie. Drake noted that he casually mentioned Taker, who then appeared "out of nowhere not 10 seconds later."
The 41st SHOT Show ends this Friday. Drake and Valkyrie will be appearing at the show on Thursday as well.

SEVERAL FEMALE STARS ON THE INJURED LIST

SHINE Nova Champion Aja Perera landed in the hospital on Sunday in a near-deadly situation. She thought she had swollen lymph nodes. It turned out to be an abscess that could have killed her over the weekend. Despite the issue, she still wrestled in the Brii Combination Wrestling women’s tournament on Friday in Bronx, NY., and against Keira Hogan on Saturday afternoon at Shine 56 in Queens, NY.

Texas indie star Angel Blue has a neck injury that may require surgery. She is not taking bookings at the moment. She is one of the top heels in Texas and a near eleven year veteran.

Katey Harvey was injured on an Over The Top Wrestling show in Dublin, Ireland on 1/20/19. She landed badly on the floor and ended up breaking both of her elbows which required surgery. It was was supposed to have been a 6-man tag match with Harvey, Raven Creed and Amy Allonsy vs. Veda Scott, Debbie Keitel, and Valkyrie (Irish star not to be confused with Taya Valkyrie). Harvey had to be helped to the back unable to continue, and Allonsy no-showed, thus Creed was alone to take the fall.

MLW Notes

MLW announced they have signed Arizona-based talent Alex Hammerstone.  He will be debuting in Philadelphia.
The promotion is teasing the return of a "mysterious" name from the past in Philly as well.
Teddy Hart is doing media in Philadelphia this week to promote the Superfight event.
As part of the GoDaddy.com sponsorship that was announced yesterday, their logo will appear in signage and on the ring mat at forthcoming MLW events.
Jimmy Yuta has been announced for the Philadelphia debut as well.

CHRIS SABIN INJURY UPDATE

Former Impact Wrestling Champion Chris Sabin confirmed expectations that he had suffered a torn ACL wrestling for Ring of Honor at their TV taping in Atlanta, GA several weeks ago.
Some people who were in attendance noted, "After taking a bump halfway through the match, Sabin rolled to the outside and grabbed at his knee.  Trainers came over, and Sabin did not participate in the rest of the match.   At the end of the match, Sabin was assisted out of the ringside area being taken out through a different exit than the other wrestlers."
On his Twitter account today, Sabin wrote:
This would be the third ACL tear of Sabin's career that required surgery to repair.  Sabin suffered knee injuries in 2011 and 2012 while performing for Impact Wrestling.
Sabin's current ROH deal is coming up shortly.  There is no word what this may mean for his long term future with the promotion.
