"Due To Unforeseen Circumstances" More Like WWE Yanking Jeff Jarrett Off Of Upcoming ICW Show.

With Jeff Jarrett unable to wrestle at the show, a member of the NXT roster will be filling in for him at Insane Championship Wrestling's Shug's Hoose Party 6 night one this weekend.
Kushida will face Jackie Polo at the show, which is taking place at the O2 Academy in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday (July 27). Jarrett had been set to face Polo at the event.
Before Kushida was revealed as Jarrett's replacement, ICW announced that -- due to unforeseen circumstances -- Jarrett wouldn't be facing Polo: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Jeff Jarrett will not be able to compete against Just Justice Jackie Polo, this Saturday at Shug’s Hoose Party 6 - Night 1. However, ICW management have secured a replacement who will face Just Justice in the main event."
Kushida departed NJPW after his contract with them expired at the end of January. In April, it was officially announced that he had signed with WWE.
Night two of Shug's Hoose Party 6 will be held at the O2 Academy Glasgow on Sunday (July 28).

Hopefully This Sad Saga Of A Soap Opera Ends Soon- JARRETT & GFW LOSES APPEAL REGARDING COPYRIGHT CLAIMS AGAINST ANTHEM

Looks Like Jarrett's getting ass kicked. All this time and money over shit nobody and no fan really gives two shits about.

Earllier today, Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw, Jr. of the U.S. District Court Middle District of Tennessee today shot down Global Force Entertainment and Jeff Jarrett's attempt at an interlocutory appeal regarding the court's decision to to dismiss their copyright infringement claim against Anthem, the parent company of Impact Wrestling.

Jarrett and GFE had sued, claiming that Anthem had violated the copyrights and trademarks of GFW Amped! by utilizing and selling GFW Amped! TV episodes via  PPV, streaming and DVD sales.  Jarrett's side had argued that each of the sixteen episodes were worth $300,000.

Over the course of the legal process, Anthem admitted the original masters had been deleted.  Jarrett had been trying to copyright the material (obviously to enhance his claim against Anthem) but was unable to do so because he didn't have the actual tapes.

Back in April, a motion from Jarrett and GWE noted, "This case presents a unique issue.  In anticipation of a merger that ultimately failed, Defendants came into possession of the only copies of master recordings of the sixteen (16) one-hour episodes (the “Episodes”) of Global Force Wrestling (“GFW”) AMPED content (the “Masters”) at issue. There is and can be no dispute that Defendants (1) had the only copy of the Masters and (2) destroyed the Masters. Plaintiffs have alleged each one-hour episode in the Masters is worth up to $300,000."

Anthem had argued that since GWE and Jarrett failed to copyright and trademark their GFW Amped! TV tapes and since Jarrett provided a license for Anthem to use the tapes, there can be no infringement.  Anthem also argued that by law, Jarrett & GWE should have filed their copyrights or have been refused registration in order to claim copyright infringement in court.  Since neither has happened – as Jarrett did not have physical possession of the GFW master tapes, which Impact has already admitted they deleted – Anthem argued that the infringement claim could not go forward in court.

Jarrett had arguing his copyright claim was dismissed because he and GWE did not complete the copyright process of the GFW AMPED! master tapes, but those tapes could not be copyrighted because Impact deleted the masters.  So, since they are at fault for that not taking place, his attorneys argued that Anthem should not let them off the hook.  The court disagreed, shutting down Jarrett's attempts to appeal that decision while the remainder of the legal case moved forward.
The original decision to dismiss the copyright claim has been amended with the following line: "In light of Fourth Estate, Plaintiffs have no right to sue under the Copyright Act, and their copyright claim will be dismissed."

The remainder of Jarrett's lawsuit is still moving forward, with Anthem recently filing a counter-lawsuit against Jarrett and GFE.

Vince McMahon Gets Slammed By Variety

In advance of Vince McMahon and WWE management's investor conference call on Thursday, after WWE announces its second quarter numbers, Variety posted a stinging piece today on WWE's massive loss of audience over the second quarter of this year vs. the same period in 2018.  They referenced the company's statement during the first quarter investor conference call where they blamed the ratings drop for the first three months of 2019 on “superstar absences" by noting that pretty much everyone who was missing then was back for quarter two, yet the audience still dropped.  They ponder how Vince will explain losing viewers this time and note that, "The company’s TV partners, NBCUniversal and Fox, are also reportedly getting anxious about the state of the WWE" given that they will pay a combined $470M a year for Raw and Smackdown starting in October.  They noted what we have been saying here for a while now, that the Raw audience was down around 20 percent year to year, while Smackdown is off about 17%.  They also noted, that WWE's biggest problem is in the creative.  Hopefully a mainstream outlet like Variety can get through to Vince that the main problem with WWE right now comes from the guy he looks at in the mirror.

The WWE stock, which was trading near $100 before they announced the first quarter numbers and then dropped signficantly, is currently trading at $69.90  It will be very interesting to see what happens when the company reports on Thursday.  The stock run up was largely based off of the new TV deals so if WWE has a bad quarter, it's very possible that the stock will drop even lower. It's expected that they will announce on Thursday that they have brought Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff in to fix the problems. Some are wondering if the callers that get through will really press Vince on whether he will give them a legitimate chance to do so or whether he will keep overseeing things.
