DJZ SIGNS WITH WWE, HEADING TO NXT
DJZ has signed a deal with WWE and will be joining NXT in the near future.
A deal was signed in the last week of February and that he will be reporting to the Performance Center under a NXT deal.
DJZ first started wrestling under the name Shiima Xion in 2004, wrestling on the independent circuit both in the United States and in Mexico. In 2011, he signed with Impact Wrestling under the name Zema Ion, winning the X Division title the following year. He later adopted a DJ gimmick, associating himself with the Bromans (Jessie Godderz and recent WWE signee Robbie E) and changing his name to DJZ.
He continued to wrestle off and on for Impact Wrestling through 2018, most recently teaming with Andrew Everett to capture the Impact Tag Team titles last April. He announced his departure from Impact Wrestling on 12/31 and has since worked the independent scene including wrestling for AAW, EVOLVE, MLW and PROGRESS.
IMPACT WRESTLING & OHIO VALLEY WRESTLING RESUME DEVELOPMENTAL AGREEMENT
Impact Wrestling issued the following:
IMPACT Wrestling Re-establishes Developmental Agreement with Ohio Valley Wrestling
TORONTO | LOUISVILLE – IMPACT Wrestling announced today that it has re-entered into an agreement with Louisville-based Ohio Valley Wrestling to serve as an official development and training territory for IMPACT Wrestling.
The announcement of the renewed partnership follows the success of the co-promoted One Night Only: Clash in the Bluegrass event, a sold-out show from Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky, which featured stars from both organizations.
“We are excited to grow our outreach and partnership with promotions worldwide,” said IMPACT Wrestling Executive VP Scott D’Amore. “It is great to work with Al Snow and the team at OVW, which has a long history of developing great talent.”
“OVW is proud to be entrusted with the development of the true lifeblood of any professional wrestling promotion – the in-ring talent,” said OVW CEO and owner Al Snow.
As part of the agreement, IMPACT Wrestling management will look to OVW when scouting new talent and those on the development roster will see future opportunities to appear on the flagship weekly show IMPACT!, which is televised in more than 120 countries around the world.
Al Snow acquired OVW in June 2018 and formed Gladiator Sports Network, which also produces professional boxing events and a high school sports prep series while keeping wrestling as its signature brand. OVW served as the official development training ground for World Wrestling Entertainment from 2000 to 2008 and as IMPACT Wrestling’s training territory from 2012 to 2014. With more than 1,000 television episodes, OVW is the longest running professional wrestling series broadcast on local television in the U.S. The series is the signature of the company’s elite training program, which boasts more than 150 alumni who went on to international fame, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar and reigning IMPACT World Champion Johnny Impact.

FORMER WWE DEVELOPMENTAL WRESTLER ERIC ANGLE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER GRABBING STUDENT AT AMATEUR WRESTLING COMPETITION
Eric Angle, the younger brother of WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, has been charged with assault after being captured on video picking up a student he was coaching at an amateur wrestling meet by his neck at The Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Video shows Angle lifting the child off the ground and then throwing him back down on the mat.
WTAE reported that Angle claimed he was trying to "keep the child from messing up" but made things worse.
Angle was escorted from the venue after the incident and was charged by police with assault.
"I should have just walked away and let him get thrown out. Instead, I'm the one who embarrassed myself even more," Angle told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.
Angle was signed to a WWE developmental deal in 2000 after making an appearance at that year's Survivor Series PPV where he impersonated his brother during a match against The Undertaker. He was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling at the time and wrestled for several years before being released in 2003. He worked a handful of post-WWE independent bouts in the Pittsburgh area before leaving pro wrestling.
Angle issued a statement via social media, but later deleted the post.
TAMMY 'SUNNY' SYTCH LEGAL UPDATE
WWE Hall of Famer Tammy "Sunny" Sytch was extradited from Monmouth County Corrections in Freehold, New Jersey today, transferred back to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
As PWInsider.com reported last month, a bench warrant was issued for Sytch's arrest in the State of Pennsylvania on 2/15. That same day, the Carbon County Probation Department filed a motion to revoke Sytch's October 2018 parole. Court records indicate that Sytch made payments of $120 in the months of October and November 2018 as part of a payment plan to reimburse the State of Pennsylvania for their costs in her previous legal cases but had not made any additional payments since that time.
A week later, Sytch was arrested in Seaside Heights, NY on Saturday 2/23 when she was pulled over at 6:30 PM on Dupont Avenue by authorities and arrested for driving while intoxicated, the sixth time since 2015 Sytch has been arrested for such an offense. On 2/23, Sytch was also given a summons for having an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, for consumption of alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and careless driving.
Sytch was released by the Seaside Heights Police Department into the custody of the Holmdel Police Department as it was discovered that she had outstanding warrants in the jurisdictions of Holmdel, NJ Police Department for $1,500.00 and Knowlton, NJ Police Department for $1,000.00. Sytch has been charged with Contempt of court - Disobedience/Resistance of Court Command in relation to each of those warrants. Sytch remained incarcerated in Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold, NJ until being transferred back to Pennsylvania today.
This would be the second time that Sytch was extradited to Carbon County from the Monmouth County Correctional Facility after a bench warrant was issued for her arrest for breaking the terms of her parole. Sytch had been arrested in New Jersey last year for failing to appear in court for two DUI arrests. While Sytch was being processed for multiple charges of Contempt - Disobedience/resistance in New Jersey, authorities learned that she was technically a fugitive from justice because a motion had been filed in August 2017 in PA requesting her February 2017 parole from the Carbon County in Pennsylvania be revoked.
Sytch's original Pennsylvania DUI charges in 2015 were a result of three separate incidents over that summer.
On 5/30/15, Sytch was stopped by Mahoning Township, PA police after being seen driving erratically into a Wal-Mart parking lot. Testing showed she had a 0.25 percent Blood-Alcohol level at the time of her arrest.
On 6/1/15, Sytch was pulled over after her car crossed the solid center yellow line several times, then entered oncoming traffic on Interchange Road in Lehighton, PA. Sytch was unable to provide proof of insurance or a driver’s license and was identified only after authorities checked records. Trooper Jonathan Lazarchick of the Pennsylvania State Police reported that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy and that Sytch smelled like alcohol. Authorities discovered an open bottle of Coors Light in the passenger side of the vehicle as well as another eleven unopened. The open cap of the Coors Light was on the floor of her passenger's side. Sytch claimed she had been drinking the night before, was driving to pick up milk and eggs and when asked to get out of the vehicle, staggered, had problems with her balance and needed to lean on her car to maintain her balance. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.3 percent.
On 6/20/15, Sytch crashed her car into a ditch in Towamensing Township at 10:40 PM, claiming to the responding authorities that her GPS had told her to make a "sudden turn", which caused her to turn wide and end up in the ditch. Sytch told authorities that she was unable to back the car back out. Cpl. Shawn Noonan of the Pennsylvania State Police observed the odor of alcohol and bloodshot eyes. He requested Sytch take a field sobriety test, but she claimed to be "in too much pain due to her recently blacking out and falling down the steps." She was placed under arrest for DUI and was given a breathalyzer test back at police barracks. The results of that test were 0.078 percent.
Sytch would later claim on social media, in response to PWInsider.com's reporting of the case, that she was not arrested for DUI when she crashed her car because she had a "seizure."
However, Sytch plead guilty to DUI in all three cases, as well as one count of driving w
