WWE Cancels Another SmackDown Live Event (LOL, Not really surprising)

The WWE SmackDown live event scheduled for Saturday, October 26 from the Tony's Pizza Events Center in Salina, Kansas has been nixed. A scheduling conflict was cited as the reason for the cancellation.
WWE has canceled a number of blue brand live events scheduled for Monday nights as of late, due to the WWE Wild Card Rule and SmackDown Superstars being used on RAW. This is the first weekend live event to be nixed since the Wild Card Rule was established, but it should be noted that this live event was scheduled to take place after the SmackDown TV show moves to Friday nights on Fox beginning October 4. As we've noted, SmackDown will move to a Thursday through Sunday road schedule this fall. They currently run Saturday through Tuesday. RAW will continue to run Friday through Monday as WWE has ran a four-show per week tradition for decades now.
Below is WWE's press release on the Salina cancellation:
WWE LIVE AT TONY'S PIZZA EVENTS CENTER CANCELLED

ROH Issues Follow-Up Statement Regarding Bully Ray - Fan Incident Internal Investigation

Last weekend a fan took to Twitter to write about an incident he experienced at an ROH show. The fan claimed that he was escorted to the back, by what he thought was security, and was confronted by Bully Ray over comments he made, as a fan, towards The Allure.
Ring of Honor issued a statement to many outlets. on Monday stating that the incident was now the subject of a 48-hour internal investigation.
Many. reached out to ROH today for a follow up on how the investigation is proceeding. They were sent the following statement from ROH General Manager Greg Gilleland:
ROH FOLLOWUP STATEMENT:
Ring of Honor prides itself on providing a fun and entertaining environment for both our fans and wrestlers to experience professional wrestling at the highest level.
Fans are encouraged to cheer, boo, and chant during the show while wrestlers interact both positively and in rivalry, as that is the engagement that makes the ROH experience what it is. Wrestlers interacting with fans is core to the experience, however, under no circumstance should any of our athletes or staff confront or engage fans outside the bounds of this entertainment experience or outside the bounds of the area that hosts this experience. We hold all of our athletes and staff members to the highest standards and, because of the actions over the weekend, we fell short of meeting those standards.
We are still in the process of investigating this matter as well as reviewing and assessing internal security protocols to ensure a safe environment for all fans and athletes. All of our athletes and staff will also be trained and reminded of our policies and protocols for fan interaction and appropriate behavior in all situations.
To our amazing and wonderful fans, we apologize for the matter that transpired this past weekend as it does not reflect who we are as an organization or how we hope to engage with our fans. ROH fans are known worldwide for their passion, admiration, and appreciation for our athletes, and we share this same admiration and appreciation for our fans. We encourage all of our fans to continue attending our events and supporting our amazing athletes in a respectful manner as they have done in the past, and we promise to continue delivering what the fans deserve - the best wrestling and the best fan experience on the planet.

ONE OF LONGEST RUNNING INDEPENDENT PROMOTIONS GOES ON HIATUS

The East Coast Wrestling Association, which has been running regularly for decades, announced the following on their Facebook page:

Unfortunately the ECWA show for next Saturday June 15 is cancelled. All further shows are also postponed. I no longer have the time to dedicate to running the ECWA.

I have a full time business that I am dedicating 90 percent of my time to.

I won't say ECWA is closing up for good but for now ECWA will be on a brief haitus.

When I can dedicate more time to running shows and promoting, ECWA will be back.

Hopefully in the future I will have more people to help in promoting ECWA.

I want to Thank everyone who supported ECWA in the past and hopefully you will continue supporting ECWA in the future.

ECWA is the longest independent professional wrestling promotion around and will continue to make more stars.
Any questions or comments please message me directly!

The promotion, founded in 1967 by Jim Kettner, has been running regularly for decades, initially in Delaware but more recently in New Jersey.  In 2010, Kettner retired from professional wrestling, selling the promotion to Mike Tartaglia, who oversaw the company with Joe Zanolle.

The promotion is perhaps best known for the annual Super 8 tournament, which greatly helped to popularize Junior Heavyweight style wrestling in the United States after taking the inspiration for the tournament from New Japan's Juniors division and events.
