Mat Memory- Dan Kroffat and Alofa vs The Long Riders (March 6, 1986 International Wrestling In Canada)

Following the departure of Jacques Jr. & Raymond Rougeau, a tournament was held to determine new International Tag Team Champions. The tournament culminated in a match pitting the Irwin brothers, Bill and Scott (also known as the Long Riders) against Dan Kroffat (a future gaijin star in All-Japan and partner with Doug Furnas) and Alofa the Polynesian Prince (Rikishi Fatu). The Irwins are managed by the underrated Eddie the Brain Creatchman. This finals match was taped in Sudbury, Ontario on March 6, 1986. Milt Avruskin and Gino Brito provide commentary. I've included interviews with the Irwins & Creatchman and Kroffat & Alofa. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk0qX7Lm7ik

Mat Memory- Eddie & Floyd Creatchman & Long Riders interview (January 1986 TV)

The new year of 1986 brought in fresh faces and returning faces for International Wrestling from Montreal. Bill & Scott Irwin, otherwise known as the Long Riders, trekked to Quebec to work for IW under the tutelage of Eddie the Brain Creatchman after a run in the AWA. That's not all, however! Another Creatchman would join the fray, this of course being Eddie's son Floyd Creatchman. Floyd made his return to IW after a long absence (Floyd was last seen managing King Tonga during the latter's arrival in Quebec in the summer of 1984). The year of 1986 proved to be a banner year for the Creatchmans, as Eddie would go on to lead the Long Riders to the International Tag Team Championship, while Floyd brought The Great Samu to the International Heavyweight Championship. This interview from IW TV, most likely aired in January 1986, marked Floyd's return and the Irwins' debut in the territory. That's Albert Di Fruscia, Gino Brito Sr.'s nephew, attemping to handle the interview (before the Creatchmans kick him out). Great stuff!

MORE ON ALLIE'S IMPACT EXIT, FORMER IMPACT CHAMP RETURNING AS PRODUCER THIS WEEKEND.

Allie's last appearance for Impact Wrestling will air on tomorrow's episode of Impact and she will not be appearing at this weekend's TV tapings.  Impact Wrestling informed her in January that they would not be renewing her deal and that she would be finishing up at their last set of TV tapings in Las Vegas.  We are told that it was just a decision made to refresh the roster and she was genuinely well liked.  There were quite a few people from Impact who praised her work especially her attitude from the last set of TV tapings as she showed up and worked hard and had a great attitude towards everyone despite being put into a difficult situation where she knew she was done.Allie kept the fact she was finishing up to herself and no one on the roster was really aware of it until today's AEW signing announcement.  At one point, she was one of the hottest characters in Impact, so it should be interesting to see what AEW plans to do with her.

Chris Sabin will be working as a Producer/Agent at this weekend's Impact Wrestling tapings.  The former Impact Champion's Ring of Honor deal has expired and he did not sign a new deal.  Sabin still has yet to have surgery on his torn ACL.

Lance Storm will also be working as a producer this weekend in Windsor.  D'Lo Brown and Paul London worked in similar roles at the last Las Vegas taping.  We are told that the company is working on finding the right mix of producer to replace Sonjay Dutt and Abyss and will be trying different producers before settling into a decision on permanent replacements.
Petey Williams, who had been working behind the scenes of late, is wrestling on this weekend's tapings.  He actually graduated from St. Clair College, where the tapings are taking place.

Both of this weekend's TV tapings are now announced as sold out.

Big B Pro Wrestling's Retribution Show

MLW NEWS AND NOTES

ajor League Wrestling will be introducing a new championship.

Jim Cornette will be doing a meet and greet before the MLW events in New York City on 4/4 and 4/5 at the Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City, Queens.   Those will be Cornette's only appearances Wrestlemania weekend.

Puma King is done here.  MLW was unhappy with him double booking himself on dates he also had MLW commitments.  He was well liked but the feeling was that it's impossible to push him if they couldn't be assured MLW was going to be his priority on their dates.  King was booked for other shows over the course of Wrestlemania weekend, so that may have been the issue.

Officially added to the Battle Riot match on 4/5 are Barrington Hughes, Hijo del LA Park, Mance Werner.  That match will air on the live special on BeIn Sports that evening.

Salina de la Renta, who works in the office beyond her on screen roles, is working as a liaison with Mexican talent and was recently in Mexico for meetings.

George Carroll, formerly with Ring of Honor and New Japan, has been hired here as senior coordinator.
The promotion has been working on several international deals of late.

MLW will be releasing the first CONTRA Unit t-shirts.  The company is thrilled with how well received the unit has become.  It's been noted that the unit are picking up independent bookings left and right since debuting on TV.  They will also be working in Mexico soon.

The company will be releasing LA Park shirts and doing additional merchandising going forward.  Park has become one of the top draws for the company's live events.

JIM ROSS DISCUSSES WWE EXIT ON ESPN

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross appeared this afternoon on ESPN's Outside the Lines, discussing his departure from World Wrestling Entertainment at the end of the month as his contract will not be renewed.

Ross was interviewed by Bob Levy and said that he's had a long run with WWE.  He said Vince McMahon and his family have been great to the Ross family.  Ross said the plan is to step away gracefully.

Ross was asked how he felt about others around Vince McMahon who may not be "giving you the opportunities that you need."  Ross said that he felt others might follow the trends of other broadcasters and production companies to go younger and be more mobile.  He said that Hollywood values look and youth and over talent and experience.  He said that sometimes, that might be applicable in his case but he can still carry his own and he hopes that there will be opportunities for him that come around sooner than later.

His WWE exit from 2013 was brought up.  Ross was asked what the difference is between then and now.  Ross said that he was taken out of the game by the Coach in 2013.  He said that's what he was his 2013 exit as, a way to faze him out.  Ross said in 2018, he had two bookings and Vince McMahon took great care of him financially.   He said that he knew the writing was on the wall and it was time to exit as gracefully as possible.

Ross was asked how Vince McMahon responded when Ross told him that he was leaving for good.  Ross said Vince wasn't "overwhelmed" with the decision but understood the possibilities that were out there and that they were "rejuvenating" possibilities for Ross to "get back in the game, get back in the hunt."  Ross said he's not buying into the idea that he's a Medicare guy, an "AARP guy" and therefore he doesn't have anything to provide.  He said he doesn't care about his age and doesn't wear a watch half the time as he doesn't want to know what time it is.    He said he's going to spend every day doing everything he can to the fullest.  He told Vince that if anyone can understand wanting to stay in the game, it's Vince.

Ross said he's had an amazing time working for WWE.  He said that 26 years was an eternity in that world.
Ross was asked about his favorite moment in WWE.  He said that's a tough one but brought up The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 18, The Undertaker vs. Mankind at Hell in a Cell is the most memorable one because that's the one he gets asked about every day.  Ross said it's one of the stories he tells on his stage shows, plugging he will have three shows over the course of Wrestlemania week in NYC.  He tells the story of that night and how he didn't know that was going to happen.  He said that there was never a script handed to him and was never told what to say.

On where he is going next, Ross said that nothing was signed.   He was specifically asked if he was going to AEW.  He responded, "I don't know.  We're talking.  I just haven't signed anything yet.  My people and their people are talking and doing their thing."  He joked that the only agent he knew growing up was a State farm agent.  He said, "They are working on it."  Ross said he'd love to have a radio gig talking college football and would like to do some voiceover work.

AEW Signs Impact Star Allie. (Which Again Shows Anthem Sports isn't all That Smart)

The latest edition of "The Road to Double or Nothing" was released this afternoon on YouTube, revealing that Impact Wrestling star Allie has signed with AEW as she was featured in a segment working on her costuming for the promotion.  Sandra Gray, the seamstress and costume designer who was featured in the early seasons of Total Divas before she departed WWE is on board here as well and was shown working with Allie:

https://youtu.be/k1N4HYNUjbk is where you can see the latest episode.

Allie's Impact Wrestling deal expired at the end of 2018 and she was not signed to a new contract, making it possible for her to sign with All Elite Wrestling today.  There's no word whether she will be working this weekend's TV tapings in Windsor to close out her Impact storylines.

Eli Drake's deal with Impact expires at the end of April/beginning of May.  It should be interesting to see where he goes as there's absolutely interest in him elsewhere.
