Lita On Booker T's Hall of Fame Podcast- "AEW Women’s Division Was 'The Britt Baker Show' For Awhile"
On the latest episode of Booker T’s Hall Of Fame podcast, former Women’s Champion Lita spoke about AEW’s women’s roster. It was recently reported that the Royal Rumble participant was in talks with Tony Khan to join the company. However, Lita thinks that the division has only just stopped focusing on Britt Baker solely.
“I think they’re finally starting to add and strengthen that roster,” Lita said. “Because for a while, and this tends to happen a lot, something catches fire and then you go with it, and it ends up being a one-person show. So it was like the Britt Baker show for quite a bit there, and then they were like, ‘oh, wait we can’t just throw Nyla to the wayside after we’ve used her, we can’t throw Ruby.’ You’ve got to build everybody up and kind of keep it going.
“Watching them have some life on the women’s side of things because the men were so hot, they have everybody you could think of. But the women were really lacking so to see them put some emphasis on that. I remember seeing the hardcore match between Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker, and that really putting the women’s division on the map over there.”

WAR GAMES BOUT TO HEADLINE AML WRESTLING 7th ANNIVERSARY THIS SUNDAY - ANDERSON, HARDY, DILLON, SOUTH, CAPRICE AND MORE
North Carolina’s AML Wrestling celebrates their seventh anniversary this Sunday afternoon at East Davidson High School in Thomasville, NC with a 10-man, 2-ring “Acts of War Games” match plus special guests J.J. Dillon, Paul Ellering and Matt Hardy.
The cage match pits local legend “Mr. Number One” George South, AML Wrestling Champion Caprice Coleman, AML Prestige Champion The Infinite Man (TIM), ECW original CW Anderson and long-time Mid-Atlantic veteran Preston Quinn against the team of Colby Corino, former Impact star Andrew Everett, former WWE developmental talent Brad Attitude and the AML Wrestling World Tag-Team Champions, Zane & Dave Dawson. South’s team will have legendary manager of the Four Horsemen J.J. Dillon in their corner, while the Dawson-led team will have legendary manager of the Road Warriors Paul Ellering at their side. Both Dillon and Ellering were on opposing sides of the very first War Games match on July 4, 1987.

Matt Hardy returns to action in his home state to face AML Wrestling mainstay Arik Royal. Hardy headlined the first AML Wrestling event in January 2015 and has been a two-time WrestleCade Champion, the huge 3-day wrestling convention the group puts on every November. Royal is also the current champion of the Georgia-based ACTION Wrestling promotion.
MLW’s Calvin Tankman makes his AML Wrestling debut going against Ohio Valley Wrestling’s Gustavo. Future Stars of AML Wrestling Champion Zuka King faces popular cult favorite White Mike. JB Cole and JR Miller, who were both featured on AEW Dark during the company’s recent Carolina tapings, face the debuting team of Exotic Youth. The massive Cyrus the Destroyer, who toured Japan in 2020 with the WRESTLE-1 organization, faces former AML Prestige Champion Axton Ray.

TNT Extreme Wrestling Join Forces With The New Owners Of PROGRESS Wrestling
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Liverpool, England) 26th January 2022: Following their recent full acquisition of the UK’s leading independent wrestling promotion, PROGRESS Wrestling, Lee McAteer and Martyn Best have announced that they have now acquired a joint interest in the best kept secret in British wrestling; Liverpool based TNT Extreme Wrestling, along with TNT founder Jay Apter.
This acquisition adds to the the pair’s interests in independent promotions and McAteer and Best, both long-time directors of one of English football’s oldest league clubs, Tranmere Rovers, have high ambitions for both PROGRESS Wrestling and TNT Extreme Wrestling.
TNT was founded in 2015 by Jay Apter. Since then the promotion have held events across the North-West of England and become known for their signature hardcore style, spotlighted each year by the ‘DOA Deathmatch Tournament’ in which competitors take their style of wrestling to the brutal edge in order to gain the approval of the (strictly adult!) fans in attendance.
Over the last few years, TNT has played host to some of the most celebrated names in global wrestling including WWE’s Pete Dunne and Gunther (Formerly WALTER), All Elite Wrestling’s Eddie Kingston and PAC and former NJPW Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.
McAteer and Best have joined TNT ahead of the 2022 edition of the DOA Deathmatch tournament that will take place at Fusion Nightclub in Liverpool on Thursday 3rd February. Tickets can be purchased from tnt-wrestling.co.uk.
On the completion of the deal, Best said, “Having been a large part of the Liverpool business community for many years, and having led Everton Tigers a few years ago, I’m delighted to be back involved in sporting events in the heart of Liverpool. TNT is certainly different from basketball, but the same excitement, buzz and entertainment for the fans is what we will be striving for.”
On the new addition to their stable, McAteer said, “TNT has been British Wrestling’s best kept secret for a long time, but now the secret is out. The eyeballs are now truly on TNT Extreme Wrestling.
