CWA Wrestling. Dallas Part 1
The Confederate Wrestling Alliance was owned by Bob Meister. Grizzly Smith, Skandar Akbar, Johnny Mantell, and James Beard all served as booker at various points.
The Dallas Sportatorium had been without wrestling for several months after Jim Crockett's company folded in May 1995 and this new promotion began running weekly shows at the historic arena in September 1995.
In February 1996, the promotion ran it's only PPV. The CWA was paid by MPP Bodyguards for use of their arena, production crew, and wrestlers with the idea that the PPV was to spotlight owner Dom Menaldi who was the recent winner of a toughest bodyguard contest.
In April 1996, the promotion was renamed the Continental Wrestling Alliance.
The company gained a late night Friday show on KXTX 39 in June 1996.
The company folded in January 1997 when Chris Adams' World Class II: The Next Generation began running weekly shows at the Sportatorium.
In August 1997, the CWA name was used for a several month run at the Sportatorium by owner Paul Z. and promoters Mike & Buster Blackheart with Bill Irwin and later Black Bart as booker.
