Nick Aldis Says There Will Be New Faces In The NWA Soon, Names Which Young Stars Are Good On The Mic

Nick Aldis is currently in his second reign as NWA World Heavyweight Champion and will defend his title against James Storm in a 2 out of 3 falls match at Saturday's Into The Fire pay-per-view.
Aldis took part in a media call  where he was asked which young stars within the company stand out to him.
"Ricky Starks would be one of the first ones I would mention in that regard. I think people are gonna be surprised when Thunder Rosa gets a chance to speak, certainly in that environment. Her presentation is so vastly different and she's arrived on the scene with such ferocity based on her in-ring performances. But I wouldn't sleep on her as far as her ability to deliver on the stick too," said Aldis.
"Allyson Kay is money on the mic. She, in many ways, has been as good a representation of the NWA as I have on the women's side with the way she carries herself. With the way she conducts herself, she really believes that she's the champion and that's really the most important thing."
Like Aldis, Kay is the current champion in her gender's division as she's the NWA World Women's Champion. Aldis also teased some new faces showing up at NWA's Into the Fire pay-per-view this weekend.
"There's also gonna be some new faces. There's gonna be some new people coming up and by the time this weekend is finished, the conversation about the NWA will be about what you've just seen, or if you didn't get the PPV, what you just missed. Who knows who you're gonna see on that podium? That's an exciting prospect," stated Aldis.

"Let's not forget that people like to talk about the departure of Cornette. But the blessing in disguise we got from that is the addition of Stu Bennett who I think is gonna absolutely crush it on the broadcast team."

Steve Austin Asks Goldberg If He Felt Like A "Copycat" In WCW

During the height of the Monday Night Wars, two stars reigned supreme for both WCW and the WWF. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin helped usher in an edgier program for Vince McMahon's company, drinking beer and stunning whoever he wanted. In WCW, Goldberg was the undefeated monster who had people chanting his name during his entrance.
"Stone Cold" recently interviewed Goldberg on The Broken Skull Sessions podcast on the WWE Network. When asked by Austin how much of an eye did the WCW star have on WWF programming, Goldberg made it a point to praise but be honest with the former world champion.

"I wanted to kill you," Goldberg stated. "You represented the enemy. I never could have made it where I was without you being Steve Austin. I was the copycat over at WCW."
When showing two images of one another, there are differences between Steve Austin and Goldberg. However, both produced a profit for their companies that has not been replicated. Goldberg felt like he was being compared to Austin multiple times, and even with a few differences, both stars complemented one another in their own unique way.
"Did I feel like it? Only when people said something about it," Goldberg continued when talking about the "Stone Cold" comparisons. "I'd say there is a huge freaking difference between those two guys right there. You and I couldn't be any more alike, but be more unlike each other.

Santana & Ortiz Discuss WWE Offering Them A Deal, Why They Signed With AEW Instead

AEW's Proud & Powerful, Santana and Ortiz, recently spoke with AEW backstage interviewer and entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet. Among many other things, The Inner Circle members talked about their decision to sign with AEW instead of WWE.
Apparently, before AEW became an option, Santana and Ortiz, who debuted for AEW at ALL OUT, were in talks with WWE and they thought they might re-sign with Impact, go to WWE, or sign with ROH. While WWE originally refused to get into a bidding war for the services of Santana and Ortiz, the team was eventually asked flat out for their terms.
"Before [AEW] was a thing, we were kind of already in talks with them, so we were like, 'alright, we're either going to stay in Impact [or] we might go to WWE or maybe Ring Of Honor,' right? We were like, playing it this way, right? We'll see what comes up. We were kind of in our head, 'ugh, we made a good amount of noise in Impact, but I feel like we need to bring up our name value a little bit more. We can go to WWE and we can cash it in now, but I feel like maybe we bring up our name value a little bit more and be more wanted by them. Then, they were interested enough to offer us something, and we had people pulling for us there to bring us in, but I feel like we would have gotten lost in the shuffle."
Ortiz added, "and then, when we got our first offer, it was like, 'eh, we're not going to get into a bidding war with anyone' and then it ultimately went down to 'alright, what do you want,' which was awesome and it was only because of AEW existing."
According to Ortiz, they decided to turn down WWE, but wanted to do it as politely as possible.
"We were about to turn down WWE, and we sat down, and we were like, 'alright, man.' We don't want to burn a bridge. Like, we don't want to burn any bridge anywhere we go. It's just not how you do business. You should keep every avenue open. So [Santana] had this whole spiel. He was like, 'alright, this is what we're going to say, so we don't burn a bridge,' alright? And then, we go and then we get cut off. And they were like, 'listen, just think about your decision.' And then, we stop. We hang up the phone and we were about to turn them down. And we sit there. And we're like, 'damn, they're making this really hard for us,' right?"
Moreover, 'The Powerful' claimed that the offer from WWE was for a run in NXT with the guarantee of main roster at some time after.
"Yes, it was for NXT with the [guarantee] to eventually go up to the main roster," Ortiz stated. "So we were just like, 'alright, man. Dang.' Like, 'dang'. But the ultimate decision was like, 'do we want to just be part of something that's already established or do we want to be something new and make history because no matter what happens with AEW, again, we're here to make it successful, but no matter what happens, we will always be a part of the first ever main event on the first ever television of AEW."
Ortiz shared that their decision was really about wanting to do something brand new instead of being just a cog in a machine.
"We were like, 'do we want to be part of history or do we want to just fade into black?' Even best case scenario, we would be the small fish in a big ocean. Do you know what I mean? Just there's so many people there and it would be an uphill battle. I'm not saying that we wouldn't be able to do it because we're confident in our abilities, but we can be a part of history, we can be a part of change. We can be a part of change that literally, you're seeing the change." Ortiz continued, "it's changing [pro] wrestling for the better. No matter what happens with this company, wrestling has changed for the better and it's continually changing for the better. And we were like, 'man, we want to be part of history. We want to be a part of change."
Santana indicated that the former LAX members believe in the vision and they believe in the team at AEW.
"We believe in the vision that everyone has here and we believe in the team working behind-the-scenes and even working in front of the camera." Santana said, "like, name a better team that's putting out some amazing work."
'The Proud' professed that another major part of their decision-making was the lighter schedule with AEW.
"Another huge part of our decision-making was that we both wanted to be dads," Santana explained. "Do you know what I mean? Like, the schedule, they were offering us the NXT thing and then going to TV. Once we go to TV, we're on the road 250, 300 days a year."
Ortiz added his two cents on the subject of load management.
"And that's the best case scenario. We take off, they push us, they use us on TV all the time, and we're doing house shows, and we're making good money, but guess what? The time that we're home we're going to be mangled. And we have two small children to deal with."

Mat Memory- ICW (Savoldi's) Winter 1986 TV show #1

Hop aboard the DeLorean to travel to another territory we haven't visited in a while. This time it's the Savoldis' ICW. What we have here is a full show from the winter of 1986 that was taped in Lewiston, ME (anyone who might know the exact TV airdate, please add it in the comments below). This was the time period that the Savoldis were bringing in talent from Florida, including Kevin Sullivan and his Army of Darkness (including The Purple Haze Mark Lewin, the Fallen Angel, Ron Slinker, and King Curtis Iaukea. Maya Singh may have appeared, but I've yet to find any matches or clippings that indicate such), Barry Windham, Superstar Billy Graham, and Blackjack Mulligan. Sullivan even ended up booking both territories, causing friction with the Florida promotion and the Prince of Darkness being fired from the Sunshine State. The Savoldis also brought in talent from Texas All-Star Wrestling (Austin Idol, Bruiser Brody, Gary Hart, Terry Daniels, Ox Baker, Killer Tim Brooks, The Hollywood Blondes [Ken Timbs & Dusty Wolfe]) and other established names like Randy Rose, Kamala, and Abdullah the Butcher. This show originates from a Nashville, TN feed including promos for one of Nick Gulas's attempts to revive his promotion. I have another complete ICW show from the winter of 1986 that is in rough quality, unfortunately. I could still post it if enough viewers/subscribers are interested. Here's a rundown of what you'll see on this episode. Intro Terry Daniels int. (Daniels shows photo of his father who went missing during Vietnam War, asks viewers for assistance in locating him) Joe Savoldi & Austin Idol vs. Bert Centeno & Psycho Ron Sexton vs. J.D. McSlade George & Nick Gulas promo re;Nick’s return to promoting (UWA promotion, aired during commercial break) ICW In-Depth w/Angelo, Mario, & Joe Savoldi Kevin Sullivan & The Purple Haze vs. Mike Kahlua & Chris Gallahad Kevin Sullivan w/Purple Haze & Fallen Angel post-match int.
