NWA Ten Pounds of Gold - Episode Three with William Patrick Corgan. Corgan bought the NWA/National Wrestling Alliance in summer of 2017. In Ten Pounds of Gold Episode Three, we follow The Smashing Pumpkins frontman who has been interested in professional wrestling his whole life and was the president of TNA Impact Wrestling in 2016. With so much drama around his exit from TNA, the major question asked of Corgan is what are the three letters NWA worth? The legacy of the NWA and the Worlds Heavyweight Championship is tied to the great names all the way back to 1948 when the National Wrestling Alliance was founded.

During this NWA Ten Pounds of Gold, Corgan returns to Nashville, Tennessee to perform a live concert at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Before the concert, Corgan visited the former offices of TNA Impact Wrestling at Cummins Station telling the story of what happened with his former wrestling company. He explained why the three letters NWA, representing the National Wrestling Alliance, and the Ten Pounds of Gold mean so much to him.

Interwoven in this Ten Pounds of Gold is the story of Nick Aldis challenging the current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tim Storm. In conclusion of this episode, William Patrick Corgan announces the date and location of the first NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match.

Tetsuya Naito will face Sami Callihan at the Logan Square Auditorium for AAW on February 17th. Naito will also be appearing for Pro Wrestling Revolver in Dayton, Ohio on February 16th and Michael Elgin’s Glory Pro Wrestling in Edwardsville, Illinois on the 18th....

As a side note, I actually was born and until I was five years old lived just a few blocks from where the Logan Square Auditorium is located (On Kedzie ave in  Chicago)....

Taryn Terrell, Eddie Kingston, Robbie E, and Reno Scum have all parted ways with the company in recent weeks.

Guess Anthem or, Impact's creative really have no clue what to do if they're allowing all these people to leave, especially so frequently?

THAT, says a lot about how bad a company really is if so many people are being released.

These two letters (and answers) say all there needs to say about how lame and bad WWE booking is...

I get that Vince likes to do the RAW vs. Smackdown angle at Survivor series, which seems to be turning into a yearly occurence.  But why are we, the fans, expected to just accept that the heels and faces are now working together on the same team?  For example, why are guys like Ziggler and Roode all of a sudden friends after feuding for the past several months?  And why are guys all of a sudden attacking their friends just because they happen to be on the other roster?

Because that is how WWE creative books it.  Seriously, they don’t care about logic holes.  Hell, they don’t even explain them much of the time.  They see the product as they give you what they want you to see.

Is it just me? Last night, when SD invaded Raw, the announcers kept talking about how the "entire SD roster" was there. When it clearly was not! Who do they think they are fooling? Why do they say such things when it is so clear that they are not true?

Thee fact of the matter is that in WWE’s world, the truth is whatever they say it is.  Always has been, always will be.

And this is one of the many reasons why, I refuse to watch WWE programming.

Also of note in regard to Callis: When Impact management visited Pro Wrestling NOAH a few weeks back, they made a visit to one of the New Japan events and while there, Scott D'Amore addressed the NJPW locker room and told them Impact would love to work with New Japan again and specifically mentioned Callis was coming to work for Impact.  D'Amore also, during that same meeting, specifically apologized to IWGP champion Kazuchika Okada for how he was used in TNA years ago.  At the time, Okada was booked to dress like Kato from The Green Hornet and play Samoa Joe's lackey.  It was not good, and it looked even worse when Okada returned to NJPW and exploded into one of the best workers in the world overnight.  We are told that New Japan already have two potential replacements in mind as an announcer if/when Callis does depart.  We were also told New Japan is quite aware how badly Impact wants to work with them but NJPW is still focused on working with Ring of Honor.

Expect lots of Canadian talents at the tapings next week as well as the company will be using as many Canadians as possible, which is smart, as if they hit a certain level of Canadians on the shows, they will be eligible for production tax breaks.  The belief is that Canadian locals will likely be referees, underneath talent and ring announcing.  There will be a lot of production rolled back from the usual Orlando tapings as we are hearing they are not bringing a portion of the regular team into Canada.

Homicide, who is slated for the TV tapings next week, is working on opening a wrestling school in the Northeast.

The word making the rounds is that the company is not bringing Braxton Sutter or Dutch Mantel to Canada for the PPV or TV.  Sutter is an odd choice as he's been a regular on TV with Allie and lives in Buffalo.    Mantel has been working on creative but with the rise in power of John Gaburick, D'Amore and Sonjay Dutt, has not been as involved.
