New House Of Bricks Turnbuckle TV Show.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7zg6YxSRr4   The more I watch this, the more I wish I still lived in New Hampshire as I would drive down to these shows.

NWA Supreme

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg4FmPEv9CU
This is a fun little company based in Indiana that I like a lot. They'll soon be dropping the NWA name(thanks to Billy Corgan not renewing any of the licenses of NWA promoters, which I think, is a dumb move but hey, what do I know).

  • Glen Jacobs Interview

  • Here's an interview Glen Jacobs did about running for Mayor of Knox County:
  • What about your time in WWE has prepared for you for politics?
I’ve been in WWE for 22 years and reached a point in my career where, within the locker room, I’m one of the people that guys come to if something needs to be discussed. I’m also one of the people that the WWE executives, if there is a problem in the locker room, I’m one people that is consulted about that. … It’s actually my involvement in WWE that I’ve found hopefully will help me out in the political realm.
You were known for being somewhat politically active while in the WWE but haven’t run for office until now. What made you think the time was right?
I’m 50 years old. There’s a bit of a time constraint maybe. (laughs) It’s just that time in my life and for my family as well that it’s a good decision for me to pursue this.
Why run on the local level and not something on the state or federal levels?
At the federal level, as a member of Congress, you have one vote out of 435, and in the Senate it’s one out of 100. So, the ability to get some stuff done exists as a much larger opportunity at a local level than in the federal government.
How often do you get a chance to watch WWE these days?
I catch a little most Mondays. I’m really happy to see Braun Strowman. People ask me who reminds me of me, and it’s probably him. So, I’m really happy to see him doing so well. I think WWE is in very good hands with — they’re not even the younger generation anymore — but with the people that are there now carrying the flag for them.
Are you retired from the ring at this point or is that dependent on the outcome of the election?
We have a saying in the WWE: never say never. So, I can’t answer that question. (laughs)

Another Exammple of WWE Acting Like A Bitch

    From the Wrestling  Observer webpage.

Fightful.com and Chris Harrington have an article on Samantha Rotunda, who is filing for divorce from Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt), and has requested all of his pay records from 201 to the present. WWE agreed to produce his 1099's, booking contracts and some licensing contracts but claimed the cost of compliance with the subpoena would be between $247,500 and $483,000. On 9/22, the lawyers for Samantha Rotunda filed a motion in Superior Court in Stamford, CT saying that the WWE was acting in bad faith and attempting to intimidate the litigant from going through discovery and finding out her husband's true financial picture.

How things 'Evolve' in Evolve Wrestling.

It looks like Gave wants Evolve to be 'more like WWE' Ugh, why.. WWE's product is so lame in so many ways.

    Zing, bet that stung, lol.

ESPN published an article on Sami Callihan finding success outside of WWE. Callihan said about a match he had with Apollo Crews on NXT TV in September of 2015: "I remember before the match Apollo goes, 'do you tonight. If we get in trouble I'll take the blame. I remember getting pulled to the back from HHH and he was like, 'where has this guy been for the last year'. I kinda had to bite my tongue, but lucky enough people like Norman Smiley and Billy Gunn straight up came up to him and was like, 'this is the guy that's been main eventing a lot of your house shows against Finn Balor and Kevin Owens and having killer matches, but then it comes to TV and you book him like a jobber.

Another guy who left WWE in the dust and has been better because of it.

    https://www.pwpodcasts.com/2017/09/25/quick-quotes-t-l-hopper-various-gimmicks-working-jim-cornette-writer-idiot/

I remember going to a WWF House show in Durham, NH (Whitmore Center), He was facing Ron Simmons who was wearing the ugly Blue outfit(another blunder from 'creative'). Hopper comes to the ring and sees me second row ringside and what was I wearing? A Smokey Mountain Wrestling shirt. He smiled and gave me a 'thumbs up' my friends who were with me all marked out on that. Was able to meet him, Sunny and Tracy Smothers after the show and got to talk SMW with them(which was interesting since SMW was never played on tv in New England, LOL).

Bet McMahon didn't appreciate this, lol.

    Talk about the irony. :)

Liked him as part of Decay in Impact Wrestling.

As noted, former TNA Tag Team Champion Crazzy Steve left Impact Wrestling earlier this year after WWE reportedly showed interest in him. Steve attended the WWE tryouts this past June, however Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio this week that WWE ended up not signing him. Steve is taking independent bookings at bookcrazzysteve@gmail.com.

    Episode 25

On this week's episode of House Of Bricks Pro Wrestling #TurnbuckleTV #HouseOfBricks brings you more action from this past #Brickaversary as we open up this week with a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH between "The Avarice" Derrick Conway, Donald Rotten, and Jammin Jack Conner with the winner become the number one contender for the #HoB #SouthernNewEngland Championship. I remember Donald Rotten from a stint in the Eastern Wrestling Alliance.

New Rocky Mountain Pro Wrestling show

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mleh0j4_48&t=2690s

I watched the first season of this where Vince Russo had an on screen role and believe it or not. he wasn't as over bearing as he was in WCW and TNA. I also found the storylines and matches appealing. So much so that I'm hooked into it every week which is how solid and consistent they've been with the booking.

The only gripes I've had with this company is, Unholy Trinity looks like such a Rosemary (GFW/Impact Wrestling) knock off it's obvious. And up until this show, Humphrey Hacobs was going under "King of Old Style" which was such a blatent rip off of Steve Corino's King of Old School Gimmick it was too obvious. I actually have mentioned these facts in comments on their YouTube channel and no this week? No mention of the 'King of Old Style'. handle. Coincidence? :)

Videos of New England Indy groups I worked for (Part 3)

This is a highlight package of the Eastern Wrestling Alliance when they were based in Maine. Included are clips from a show of theirs I locally promoted at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire back in 1999  (main event was Steve Keirn vs The Mountie Rougeau), along with clips from shows in Lewiston, Maine, Oxford, Maine, Farmington, Maine and more.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMuMX9RBh-E

The Above clip shows Dangerous Dave Vicious, Kid USA, Damon D'ArcAngelo, Dr. Everette Paine, Tag Team The Damned, Master Sandy, Frankie Armadillo and more Including Precious Lucy, who now goes under the name LuFisto. At about the 5 minute 20 second mark you'll see me at ringside having words with Frankie Armadillo.

Videos from New England Indies I worked part 1.

In my debut post for this blog I explained how I worked for three different indy wrestling groups in new England when I lived in new Hampshire. From 1997-2000. Here's some of the stuff from back then.

This match from Manchester, NH 1997 has two parts. First part here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzTmNfqQe2M&t=102s has manager Christopher Grande, verbally kicking my ass before the match.

    Here's part two. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho-9nxAVxIM&t=14s

Then there's this match from same place in Manchester, NH (St. Cecelia's Hall) that has the future Prince Albert/Giant Bernard (also Baldo in Memphis Matt Bloom in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=124gxyPCBbc

This one comes from Atlantic Wrestling show in Nashua, New Hampshire (Sousa dared to run in rival promoter Jeff Costa's town). King Kong Bundy gives me a verbal ass kicking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_52zxiL-yeo

And here this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaOGjwsFFNk&t=2s is from the Middle School in Rochester, New Hampshire. Show I locally promoted. Matt Bloom and Rick Fuller (who was also appearing on WCW Nitro and Thunder as well) are on this along with the late Walter 'Killer' Kowalski.

    National Wrestling Alliance 2017 update

The link is from PWInsider and believe me, as a fan of the NWA dating back to the old territory days of Florida, Pacific Northwest, etc. THIS is a bad move by Billy Corgan in my opinion. Not renewing the licenses for the indy groups under the NWA Banner (and thus making these groups change their name because of it) takes away a lot of what the NWA was and still COULD BE.

    https://www.pwinsider.com/article/112497/national-wrestling-alliance-ownership-updates.html?p=1

For anyone who wants to say the NWA name is dead? I can easily say (before this little move/swerve by Corgan) BULLSHIT! I'd say watch this. https://www.amazon.com/History-Tradition-National-Wrestling-Alliance/dp/B008NDKX2Q  Which I have. You'd see how the tradition was very much being kept alive. I myself have watched shows of NWA Supreme (out of Indiana) which really entertained me. NWA New South (which now because of Corgan not renewing NWA Licenses has changed their name to American Wrestling Alliance and they still run shows every week at the New South Arena in Franklin, Kentucky every week), NWA Blue Collar which was running in Washington State and had guys like Kevin Sullivan on it, NWA Smokey Mountain (which changed their name to Innovative Wrestling) ALL proudly carrying the NWA brand with them.

But now that's about to change and I really believe this is a bad move by Corgan. if you really want the NWA to be a top name again in Wrestling you would've kept these promotions under the banner. That way it's an established territory of groups and a lot of various talent could be gotten from them. But if Corgan is thinking of trying to be like Jim Crockett Promotions with his vision of the NWA, just remember what happened to Jim Crockett Promotions. They sold out cause they expanded way past their means(everything past Chicago going west put the nails in the coffin).

Now Corgan owns the Bob Luce Library, which for me is a god learning ground of how to keep a profitable wrestling company going. For the longest time they just stayed in Indiana and occasionally ran shows in Chicago. As well as built to 'big' shows at the Hammond Civic Center( a place that's still existing today in Hammond, Indiana). So maybe, HOPEFULLY? Corgan goes thru the history of the Luce library and doesn't think 'too big, too fast'. That theory has killed many a promotion and will most likely kills his too.

    obscure movies and such

Along with my views on Pro Wrestling I'm also going to post stuff on obscure movies, music bands, and songs I like that you'll either never see on tv or hear on the radio.

Like this movie here I watched just last night with then late Frank Vincent.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Overcoat

If you're a fan of the late Frank Vincent, I recommend this movie here too. Federal Hill, about the mob in Providence, Rhode Island. It also has Nicolas Turturro who went on to be in NTPD Blue and Blue Bloods.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109785/

Armand Assante who's in Chicago overcoat, is also great in this movie about the Mob in Hell's Kitchen called One Eyed King.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Eyed_King

More stuff like this, to be revealed. :)

    Scherer's Words

Here's what I was talking about in my first post. Question three. Someone  know tried to put my name to Scherer about doing for PWInsider what I'm now doing with this blog (Scherer of course edited my name out) but as you can see. He's not about helping other smaller indy groups get exposure, he's just all about making a buck for himself.

    https://www.pwinsider.com/article/112479/podcasting-on-the-wwe-network-wwes-response-to-jinder-dont-try-and-make-sense-of-tnagfwimpactwhatever-they-are-called-this-week-and-more.html?p=1

    And So it Begins

This blog is going to be used mainly for my thoughts, views, video links, etc on various aspects of pro wrestling. I have in the past written for various newsletters (as I contribute to one based in Australia now run by Dan Lennard) and I HAVE, worked for a couple indy groups when I lived in New Hampshire back in the 90's (proof will be provided in this blog). So my insight in to the Wrestling business thanks to working behind the scenes in three of them, along with the legends that in one form or another worked with them, became a school of knowledge that is priceless and has honed my views on the business. Which nine times out of ten clashes totally opposite with the 'current era' of fans out there today that think high spots and barely any 'selling' is the way it should be.

We'll start with this. The link is to something I wrote many years ago on a long forgotten webpage. it's about how I got my break into the wrestling business thanks to a former WWF prelim wrestler(who was also a mid-card guy in Canada) by the name of Silvano Sousa. http://prowrestlingtapes.angelfire.com/awf.html I'll be posting some video links from some various matches of The Atlantic Wrestling Federation which include the late Steve Bradley (who had at one time a WWE Developmental deal and worked Memphis and HWA in Ohio, facing the likes of Kurt Angle, etc) and Matt Bloom who went on to be Prince Albert in WWE, Giant Bernard in Japan and is a current trainer in NXT.

Next we have this http://prowrestlingtapes.angelfire.com/WWA.html which is something I wrote on my time With World Wrestling Alliance New England, a company that had the WWF training Dojo on their shows (which was run by Dory Funk Jr, Bruce and Tom Pritchard and had Jim Cornette on it too. As well as various 'big names' that were in the WWE in 1997-98). There's a few of these Dojo show matches available on Youtube if you know where to look. I know where to look so I'll have them posted here too.

After that is this. http://prowrestlingtapes.angelfire.com/ewa.html Working for the Eastern Wrestling Alliance when they were based in Maine. There's acouple videos of that I'll be posting here as well.

But one of the most important articles I ever wrote would be this one right here. This was published in the Wrestling Then and Now newsletter back in 1998.  http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling3/thenandnow/articles/promoter.html as this was an article I wrote about the details of locally promoting my very first show with WWA New England. Rochester, New Hampshire is the toughest town in the state of N.H. to promote in because it's what's known as a 'permit' town. You have to go in front of the city council, to get approval, and THEN. Go in front of the city managing committee after that. A long grueling thing but I went thru it because, I lived in that town, so what better place than the town I lived in to have a show. ALOT of what is written here from back then, still works today and ALOT of indy promoters DON'T do it and then cry when they have low attendance at their shows. I went thru it so I know this formula works.

I also wrote this for WT&N as well. http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling3/thenandnow/articles/artone.html growing up in Chicago I grew up on AWA and Bob Luce (and Dick The Bruiser's) WWA in Indiana. So I write about old and new, the then and the now which is what this blog is going to be about. Indy groups I watch on a regular basis (as in every week their tv show ism posted on Youtube) are as follows. West Coast Wrestling Connection, Booker T's Reality of Wrestling, Appalachian Mountain Wrestling (from Kentucky), WWA (which runs Kentucky as well, though I have like three of their major shows to catch up on, lol) House of Bricks out of Massachusetts, along with occasionally watching AIWF, WCPW, ICW, and more. I recently caught a show called"Studio Wrestling" that I think used to be called NWA Mid-South Wrestling (It was on Matt Rivera's Youtube channel) which I absolutely loved. Damion Wayne has become a new fave for me to watch.

So this is an example of what's to come on this blog. Shots 'below the belt' speaking the truth or a very honest opinion on whatever in Pro Wrestling, clips from then and now and a lot of various indy things will be posted here. Other places focus on EVOLVE, PROGRESS, ROH but there's so many other groups that not many get to see, and should. I'd rather watch Indy wrestling over WWE, GFW/Impact/ whatever the fuck they're calling themselves this week because that. Is where I get the wrestling fix I want. WWE hasn't been able to do that almost ten years and it's obvious they dobn't want a fan like myself anymore. Impact Wrestling is so inconsistent with their week to week booking it's too much of a headache to watch. But thankfully with Jeff Jarrett gone (which IS funny because this is the second time he's been forced to leave HIS OWN company, something a lot of other 'wrestling journalists' have failed to mention) hopefully the 'Jarrett is Russo' booking will stop.

And so it begins with this and now I can start adding clips and whatnot to expand this blog to new horizons and help give some exposure to some smaller indy groups that certain 'wrestling sites' won't do because it doesn't monetize them at all (Dave Scherer's exact words about it two days ago in his mailbag on PWInsider, may produce a link to that to show).

So if you happen to come across this, thanks for reading and hope you like all the things that will be posted here. :)
