James "Kamala" Harris, 67, who worked for a number of promotions over the
course of his career, is currently hospitalized in Oxford, MS. According to a
Facebook
post from a family friend, Harris (who has been dealing with a number of
health issues in recent years, including diabetes that resulted in the loss of
both of his legs) is currently on life support.
Harris, who released an excellent autobiography a few years ago, headlined against Hulk Hogan for the WWF, feuded with Andre the Giant, waged war against Jerry Lawler in Memphis and was a staple of professional wrestling in the 1980s and early 1990s with a tremendously memorable "monster" character in Kamala.
Kamala was one of those hard-working journeyman talents who's colorful personality added a lot of the tapestry of professional wrestling. everyone keep him in their thoughts and prayers
