Petey Williams Talks If Impact's Move To Pursuit Is A Step Down
Impact Star Petey Williams was on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Dennis Farrell and spoke about Impact's new television deal with the Pursuit Channel. Here are some of the highlights:
If the Pursuit Channel is a step down from POP:
"I don't think you're the only one thinking that honestly. You hear rumors on the Internet like negotiating with SyFy, WGN America, TruTV, all big name brands, programming that if you mention it everybody will be like, 'Oh yeah, TruTV, I watch Impractical Jokers' or 'WGN...' I don't even know what's on WGN, 'SyFy, yeah I watch ... that's a big network. SmackDown used to be on there.' So, a lot of people are thinking, 'Pursuit? What's Pursuit Channel?'
"And it made sense to me initially as soon as I read it because I didn't know about it until I woke up this morning, and the big news was out, and I'm like 'Ah, Pursuit now, okay. This is awesome. Pursuit's owned by Anthem, Anthem owns IMPACT.' Me in my mind I'm like, 'Why didn't we do something like this till now? Why didn't we do this a year ago? Anthem owns IMPACT, Anthem owns Pursuit, why haven't we done this before?' It made sense to me initially because we're all parties wanting to succeed in this because we're all feeding into each other. We are all owned by each other so it makes sense."
If Impact makes any money from Anthem moving it to one of their own networks:
"I mean obviously money is involved. Also when you have POP TV and you have the demographic, and I don't even know what POP TV's demographic is per se, but when you have to be cautious about what you say or do so that you can still be on that Pop TV channel, that's tough, because that limits what you can do with your product. Now that we're on Pursuit, it's an outdoor channel, it's a demographic that's pretty much for males like hunting, shooting, fishing and that kind of stuff, male-dominated interests and activities. So it might be interesting to see what kind of product that going forward Impact is going to kind of put out there because hunting ... you're killing living things. I mean you're still killing a living thing on television. It's going to be interesting to see whether we are going to be a little bit more edgy, maybe? Which I know a lot of wrestling fans have been starved for with the PG era that's been going on in WWE. So maybe that's going to be a thing going forward. I don't know, I really don't know, but it could be interesting."
Posting episodes online sooner now that they're on the Pursuit Channel:
"Yeah on POP, you were able to get it on our Global Wrestling Network app 10 days after it aired, so I don't know what it's going to be with that. It might be like, 'Hey, directly after it airs, you can watch it.' That'd be cool for people that don't have Pursuit, like if you have Comcast or whatever the case may be. And I think it would definitely benefit our app if that was the case. The only thing that I know with the Pursuit Channel is that just through the press release that it's one of the fastest growing television networks out there this past year. They had like a 15% increase over the past year, which I understand for a new company it's only been around for 10 years. NBC is not looking to get a 15% growth because everybody's had NBC since NBC's been around and Fox and NBC and all that kind of stuff. So for a newer network to see this growth, that's a huge thing."
Williams' initial reaction when he heard IMPACT was heading to Pursuit Channel:
"Yeah I mean initially I was like, 'Oh good we got off of POP'. And that's what I was thinking, I'm like, 'Oh we announced a different cable company. This is a fresh start. People are going to be excited and stuff.' Pursuit, yeah initially I was like, 'Oh okay', 'cause you know you hear all these rumors like SyFy and TruTV and WGN America, you could say those names to anybody living in your neighborhood right now, they'd be like, 'Yeah I have those networks. I know what they are. I watch shows on that network.' If you say Pursuit, they're like, 'Yeah you know, I never really heard of it'.
"So, initially I was like, 'Ah Pursuit', I just look at it as— not still rebuilding but like it's good that we have a new home. But I was really hoping for— obviously like WWE is announcing now they're on like Fox and stuff like that. I was hoping for something a little bit more mainstream, I guess you could say. More viewers and all that kind of stuff for our product. But maybe right now that's not where Impact is. Maybe we have to like build our brand again, because you know building it over a year— we've done our best, we still have a long ways to go. I think it will be fine. Looking at the growth of Pursuit, it'll be fine. Everything will be okay, but initially I was like, 'Pursuit? What's that? I gotta go research this' pretty much."
Following the money over going to a bigger network:
"Yeah, I mean obviously you're trying to build your product and stuff like that. Going back to what I said about Impact's first initial deal with Spike, if that was correct, it's probably the same thing. You don't want to be going into the red just to build your product because there's no longevity in that and I think Impact's looking at longevity. How can we make this last for 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years into the future rather than just like, 'Hey, let's go for broke right now and this is our last ditch effort' and stuff. Maybe Impact feels like, 'Hey, we're not at that point where we can just go for broke. Let's build up a little bit.' The wrestling world's transitioning right now. Maybe there's more to the story, but maybe they're thinking like, 'Hey, let's not go for broke. Let's do this safe and then just build from there."

You'll see the time differences in the screen shots that show THREE DIFFERENT people have this same match, and the time is longer than what WWE is putting on their network. I watchded all three matches that and they are the same match WWE plans on adding, TOMORROW.. On their network, even they've been on YouTube for quite some time now..
Yes indeed. WWE is indeed still, this fucking stupid, and Paul Jordan at PWInsider is dumb as hell for not doing the research I do. Two minutes and I've made both PWInsider and WWE look stupid. DAMN that's gotta hurt, LMAO!

Mike Johnson @ PWInsider Responds To Getting Checked (But Doesn't Respond To Me, LMAO!)
You simply can't.... Make this shit up. Mike Johnson and Dave Scherer are simply, THIS STUPID!!
Someone either on Twitter (where I plug this blog) or a reader of this blog emailed both Mike Johnson and Dave Scherer about how both Paul Jordan and Mike Johnson got checked by me today (both stories on that are here... https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2018/12/pwinsider-wwe-get-put-in-check-by-me.html and here.... https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2018/12/mike-johnson-pwinsider-gets-checked.html ). So since proof IS, a mother fucker, and I'm a mother fucker that always has proof.. The screen shots will say it all once again about what dumb shits Johnson and Scherer are.
Here's Johnson's email reply, take note he nor Scherer haven't emailed me at all on this but decided that the guy who showed them my stories WAS me, LMAO! (I'm Bill, and the guy they replied to is named Neal, YYEEPP. Johnson and Scherer are right on the money here, NOT.
You see how he's trying to get out of the fact HE, fucked up? HE, claimed that Rick Rude NEVER defended the "WCW International Title". He said it, since it's obvious he can't remember what he says, here's the screen shot where he DID say it.
There it is, right there in black and white, he indeed said it, and in the story about this I made earlier? Here's the proof again, that Johnson is wrong. HE, said Rude never defended it BUT... Here's two examples where Rude did.
Looks pretty fucking obvious, doesn't it. Even a blind man can see Johnson fucked up and his email reply doesn't add up when the shots here show he fucked up.

They purchased their own pro wrestling ring, learned WWE, Puerto Rico, Mexico and AWA wrestling and brought in a local pro wrestler to teach them safety in performing. We were told that directors Sergio Sauceda and Johnny Trillayes and producer Charlie Palacios deserve recognition for the show.

Capitol Wrestling Reaches Out To POP TV About Possible Programming.
Capitol Wrestling has reached out to POP TV about possibly joining the network with Impact Wrestling moving to the Pursuit Channel on January 11. Capitol is currently available via FITE, GWN, Amazon Prime, Facebook and YouTube. Capitol was also the 5th most watched pro wrestling promotion on Twitch in 2018 and is currently in talks with the Fight Network UK.

Impact Wrestling's new TV deal with Pursuit HD is not an exclusive deal, . The Pursuit move is being seen as a way for Impact to take a breather and not have to worry about where the show will air as they still try to pursue a larger scale deal.
With Anthem having interest in Pursuit, it was an easy move for the series to make and should Impact find a more beneficial network, home, they would have the ability to shift the series elsewhere. If that happens (and of course, it's a big if), Pursuit has already shown interest in carrying other Impact programming, including potentially Xplosion or a Best of series. The network is happy to have Impact, feeling that their audience demographic would also want to watch pro wrestling.
While Impact could have remained on Pop going into 2019, another reason Impact wanted to move the series as soon as possible was that the company realized that as Pop continues to rebrand themselves and shift programming around, Impact was going to become more and more troublesome for the network. The feeling was it was better to move on their own and retain the great relationship they had as opposed to getting to a point where Pop would have to pull them.
While nothing has been announced, Impact will likely move to Fridays at 10 PM on The Fight Network in Canada in order to keep everything airing at the same time.
There are no current plans for replays on Pursuit HD. As of now, it will be the two hour broadcast on Fridays.
Impact realizes that the move to Pursuit will see them lose a portion of their former viewership and while some in the company are spinning this as a positive, others are not as happy, feeling it was another step downward in prestige.
The company is working on potential ways for the Impact Wrestling weekly series to be seen on digital platforms, but nothing has been worked out as of this writing.

these morons are too fucking lazy to do any research to see if any of
these so called “Hidden Gems” are really hidden or not. Thanks to
me on a regular basis you can see, like right now, that they're not.
Whose fault is it that WWE and PWInsider are too fucking lazy to do
research? Their fault.

In 2018, Arquette began training for a comeback in professional wrestling. He's made headlines with his match with RJ City and then his deathmatch with Nick Gage. When he was announced for the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) Pop Up Event in Clarksville, TN on January 5th 2019, a section of fans became quite vocal about David's place in wrestling on social media. Kane On Why His Isaac Yankem And Imposter Diesel Gimmicks Didn't Work In WWE
Kane has been around in WWE for 21 years, but the man who portrays The Big Red Machine, Glenn Jacobs, has been around even longer. Two years before he became Kane, Jacobs had a couple of other WWE gimmicks including being a Diesel imposter and a deranged dentist named Isaac Yankem.
Jacobs reflected back on these early, terrible gimmicks when he joined the X-Pac 1,2,360 podcast.
"Conceptually [fake Diesel] sounded pretty cool, but it just didn't take off that way and I don't think the audience really ever got behind it," stated Jacobs. "But again, for me it got me more experience and I was determined to make that succeed.
"As for the Isaac Yankem character, it didn't succeed the way I wanted it too. It was due to me, [as] with the fake Diesel character, it was the fact that it was never meant to be. But I felt I had done my part to make it as successful as I could have made it."
Jacobs' run as Yankem came in 1995-96 which was the tail end of WWE's "New Generation" era. This time period was filled with inflated gimmicks like Doink the Clown and Duke "The Dumpster" Droese, but Jacobs never found a fit as Yankem.
"[Isaac Yankem] came out in a time where WWE was shifting philosophies, where we were going from a purely PG product and getting into much more edgy and the Attitude Era was still a couple years away," said Jacobs. "But I was kinda the last of the over-the-top characters we had... Frankly, I never got into the character. I always make the pun that I couldn't sink my teeth into it [laughs].

"It wasn't me, and I couldn't make it work plus I was still pretty green at that point. I was still trying to figure out my way around through this whole thing. And here I was in WWE… and I am in the ring with these guys that I've watched on TV... You know, ' Oh gosh what am I supposed to do?' And you can't have that attitude, I mean you have to have the attitude of 'I belong here' and I didn't have it at that point. It was certainly not my favorite character but now they've made a wrestling action figure out of it so I have to like it [laughs]."
By 1997 Jacobs became Kane and still portrays the character today. The Kane character still has a semblance to when it was first introduced, but it has also evolved over the years. Jacobs credits X-Pac with helping him with that and allowing fans to see a different side of Kane.
"It was great. It helped me out tremendously," Jacobs said of teaming with X-Pac. "Because up until that point Kane had just been like an emotionless monster and what that did for me, our tag team, was it really helped round out my character because it showed that Kane has feelings and all that stuff which I never had before. It humanized me enough that people could relate much better…. And all the stuff we got to do man, it was a blast, and like you said a lot of times when you have tag teams that are bookends, having something that contrasted so much and was so unique... We could have great matches with anybody."

They really make this too fucking easy, because they are, too fucking stupid. They (WWE AND Paul Jordan of PWInsider) really have no fucking grasp on what 'do some research' really means. So since they both are truly clueless, Let me AGAIN (for what, the THIRD DAY IN A ROW?) how these alleged 'hidden gems' are sssooo, fucking easy to find on YouTube. Someone PLEASE inform Paul Jordan or Dave Scherer or Mike Johnson at PWInsider on how stupid they keep looking, thanks to me. I would but both Scherer and Johnson have blocked me because of course, THEY.. Don't like it when a guy like me keeps putting them in check with no effort whatsoever, like this. :)
