Appearing on the It’s My House Podcast, former WCW, ECW and WWE star Lance Storm talked about his time wrestling for Jim Cornette’s Smokey Mountain Wrestling. A fan of NWA and WCW, Storm was excited to work for the promotion and learned a lot about becoming a complete wrestler during his time there.
“I really enjoyed it because I was a big fan of the Midnight Express,” Storm said. “I was a big NWA/WCW fan. So Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express was someone that I was a big fan of, so then getting to come in and work a tag team program with Jim, he was managing the Heavenly Bodies at the time, not the Midnight Express, but it was still really cool in that regard. It was the only real traditional wrestling territory that I worked. It was like an old school territory where you did, you know, TV once a month that was primarily squash matches and angles to hype the live events, and then you would do the 15 shows a month where you hit all the regular house show towns.
“And it was a very traditional old school territory, so it was nice to experience that because when I broke in was really the start of the death of the territories. So I really enjoyed that, and I learned a lot. I think the biggest thing that I learned there was you’re not doing the wrestling match for you, you’re doing it for the audience. Both Chris Candido and I, you know he was working in Mexico, we both done a trip to Japan, I had just got back from Europe. We were trying to be that, you know, cutting edge, new ‘we got to do all this new stuff we got to do all this.’ And it’s like ‘that’s all great’, but we were working Harlem and Kentuck and they weren’t seeing new Japan Junior Heavyweight style, they weren’t seeing Lucha Libre. So us just trying to do these great matches that we were marks for wasn’t what the audience wanted.”
One of the knocks against Storm, notably by current WWE executive Bruce Prichard, is that Storm wasn’t a charismatic performer. Storm took offense to that and called Prichard out for his view.
“I honestly believe this is the misnomer of people getting worked or believing their own s--t,” Storm said. “If you go back and watch my ECW stuff, no one’s gonna say I had a lack of personality or a lack of character. And in WCW, the particular character that I was doing was getting me very over in a very short period of time. When I got to WWE I was specifically told and instructed to have no emotion, no personality, and be a robot. I was specifically told that their vision for me was Sam the Eagle from The Muppets. And when I did promos in WWE I was constantly told to do retakes because ‘you’re not flat enough, you’re not monotone enough. We want you duller.’ And they would make me do. It’s possible that Bruce was never part of the conversations where they said I need to be flat. In which case then it’s Bruce is just not realizing that that was by design. And if he was part of those conversations, he either forgets it or just decides it’s a better narrative to deliver it this way.”
BOOM, Bruce just got "checked". Can you feel the burn on that.
Finally Storm, a Canadian, was asked who he would put on his Mt. Rushmore of Canadian wrestlers. Storm’s picks are among some of wrestling’s greats, hailing from provinces such as Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
“I think you have to have Bret Hart,” Storm said. “I wouldn’t have initially thought Pat Patterson, because I don’t associate him with as a Canadian wrestler, but when you mentioned that name and how important he was both as a wrestler but more importantly as just a backbone genius in the success of WWF and WWE for so many years. I’m definitely gonna put Pat Patterson on there. I’ll throw Jericho on there, especially for the longevity period which leaves one spot, which makes me want to go further back, but I don’t know enough of my history to name further back. So I’m thinking a little bit more and you know I’m gonna go with and again it’s more my timeframe, but I’m going to go with Rick Martel.”

So the WWE is gonna try and keep the "name" of someone they failed to push and present correctly?
How fucking dumb is that shit.
Why, are they gonna waste all their time money and energy to try and keep a name of a talent they obviously and blatantly dropped the ball with?
AAWWW are they mad that SHE, immediately has gotten better success elsewhere now that THEY, the WWE had no fucking clue on how to use her properly? Sounds like sour grapes on WWE's part but good luck in trying to keep the name of a wrestler YOU, failed with.
Earlier this week on August 5, WWE replied to Office Action stating that the name identifies Chelsea Green, and she had given them permission to trademark the name. WWE provided a letter of consent from Green, but it was dated November 2020, when she was still with WWE.
Green herself had begun the process to trademark her name in April, following her release. She has been using “Chelsea Green” in recent appearance for promotions like Ring of Honor, NWA, and Impact Wrestling.
Green has achieved better success in the last couple weeks appearing in ROH, Impact and now soon, Billy Corgan's NWA than the entire time the WWWE had her under contract and underutilized her.
Yeah, sounds like someone is mad and jealous because 'yet, aother one' last left the WWE bubble and got better success elsewhere.
Bet someone in WWE is feeling the burn, the truth usually does hurt, sting and burn. :)

The Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida tweeted a message on how fans will not be allowed to take photos or videos while at tonight’s WWE SmackDown taping, but that post has since been deleted. But as you can see it wasn't deleted quick eniough because i, and others have it.
Many arenas, and WWE in general, have policies that prohibit fans from taking photos or videos during TV tapings, but they’re usually not posted to social media on the day of the show, and rarely are they enforced. I've been to several WWE shows including pay per views and photos are taken all the time. People have used their cell phones to film stuff so no matter what the "policy" may be? There's no way you can enforce it on thousands of people in one arena.
Good luck trying that, it's a failure every time.
The arena tweeted today and said the policy is strict, and failure to comply will result in ejection from the building.
“TONIGHT – @WWE #SmackDown is in the building! There will be a strict NO photo/video recording policy tonight. Failure to comply will result in ejection. Wearing a mask is highly encouraged,” they wrote.
The post has since been deleted. But not done fast enough if I and others can freely post it. Nice try though (rolls eyes).
The arena website for tonight’s SmackDown includes the following paragraph: “No video recording or streaming of this event is permitted (including through use of cell phones). Failure to comply will subject you to ejection from the building.”
Wonder why they got so scared and tried to quickly delete it? I wonder WHO 'told' them to delete it?
Either way, they look even more like dumb fucks because they deleted it, but yet, here it is.
Congratulations on making yourselves look like total dipshits. Job well done.

Former WWE star Al Snow joined the It’s My House Podcast, where he offered some interesting critiques about modern wrestling. Chief among them was Snow’s theory that the modern day wrestlers are performing more for themselves than they do themselves.
“The talent aren’t performing for you anymore. That’s a fact,” Snow said. “They’re not going in the ring and wrestling for you. Your opinion doesn’t matter. They are wrestling for each other, trying to impress each other, and they are wrestling for that small group of people that write a report and give them a critical acclaim and say either it was really a good match or it was a bad match. That’s the truth. That’s why the talent are so caught up in today and in the locker room calling every single second. They’re not living in the moment, not reacting to each other, to the referee, not interacting with the audience like they used to. They’re so concerned that they’re gonna forget the next thing that’s coming up, and they’re scared to death that they’re going to make a mistake.
“It’s not that you’ll notice it because you won’t. It’s that somebody in the back will notice it, and we’ll call them out on it, or someone who’s writing a report will notice that they made a mistake or they did a botch. You can’t botch anything unless you expose the wrestling, the lie. If you ruin the illusion, that’s the only way you can make a mistake, otherwise there’s no way to do it. It’s not possible, because you can make and create everything you want to make and create, and you’re only limited by your own imagination and creativity, as long as it’s within the context of a competition. As long as you’re trying to still win and not lose.”
Snow, who currently runs the former WWE developmental promotion OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling), got most famous for his run in WWE where he brought a mannequin head to the ring, talked about said run. He talked about getting the gimmick over, part of which involved him taking the head out in public to give fans the impression he was different.
“It was quite honestly the reason something like that works and works well, just like in Steve Austin’s case or Vince McMahon’s case or, you know Undertaker or Goldust or Triple H,” Snow said. “The one thing I always tell every young wrestler is the most valuable thing that you have to learn is who you are and be able to have an audience describe you in a sentence or less. For instance, you know, if I say beer drinking ass kicking redneck you know I’m talking about Steve Austin. If I say evil a-----e of a boss, you know I’m talking about Vince McMahon. And that is key. A lot of people claim that today the wrestlers are playing a character and they’re not. Nothing could be further from the truth. Steve Austin, what you see when he walks through the ring is Steve Austin, it’s just that aspect of his personality he turned up full blast. It’s a lie. I liken it to if you walk into a dinner party or a room with a bunch of people, and you want to take control of the room you know you have to turn up your energy. You know how to turn up who you are without being obnoxious, so that it draws attention. And to take control of the room as a wrestler you’ve got to be able to do that with your personality in a room of 20000 people.
“And, you know, I would go to dinner after shows or go to breakfast when I was on the road and I would take the head into restaurants and sit there with it, order food for them. I mean, we’d argue and have conversations and I got asked to leave a lot of public places because it was creeping people out. But you know I did that because if you and your family were in there and you see me, and then next Monday night you’re flipping through the TV channels and you see me come out, you’re like ‘hey look there’s that crazy guy remember?’ And you believe I’m really insane, because, you know, I’ve been sitting there talking to the head the whole time.”
Snow then went back to talking about the current generation of wrestling and how wrestlers are worried about not getting over due to losing. He shared his philosophy on how a wrestler gets over even in defeat.
“I think a lot of talent get caught up in that,” Snow said of wrestlers being afraid to lose. “Because if they don’t win or win on a consistent basis they feel like they’re being buried, that the audience will view them as something less than. When nothing could be further from the truth. When you go out there in the ring, whether you win or lose, it’s your opportunity to get yourself over, meaning to connect with that audience and make them want to see you again. And you don’t have to go over to get over. You know there are plenty of people, a good example would be Tommy Dreamer and ECW you know? He didn’t win a match, the whole time he was in ECW, until there at the end, and he fought not wanting to win it but he didn’t want to win the ECW title and screw up his track record, But he was massively over in ECW as the you know, as Tommy Dreamer and that just goes to prove that you don’t have to necessarily win. You don’t have to go over to get over.”

USA Championship Wrestling has reported the passing of longtime Memphis wrestling personality and independent promoter Bert Prentice following a battle with cancer. Prentice is believed to have been 59 at the time of his passing.
Prentice initially debuted in the USWA in 1991 as Christopher Love, managing The Dragon Master and the PYTs as heel foil to all the top babyfaces of the territory, including Jerry Lawler, Jeff Jarrett and even Randy Hales. Eventually, Prentice would drop the Love moniker and in 1993, would be the manager for all the WWF talents who would come in to feud with babyface Jerry Lawler, including Giant Gonzales and Bret and Owen Hart. Lawler at the time was a heel for the WWF, but was still a babyface in Memphis so when WWF talents would come in, they would switch roles and play heels to the "The King."
Prentice feuded with WWE Hall of Famer Jacqueline Moore during her time in the promotion as Miss Texas, claiming that she was really a man named Bubba Johnson. This led to a series of different stipulation matches, including a boxing match and a street fight, with Miss Texas soundly beating Prentice every time. Prentice was one of the first hosts (alongside Jeremy Borash) in the early days of NWA: TNA's Xplosion series.
Prentice also promoted a number of independent promotions, including Music Wrestling Wrestling, Ozark Mountain Wrestling, Ozark's successor North American All Star Wrestling and more, all of which had a Southern 'wrassling flair. In recent years, Prentice had been running USA Wrestling in the Memphis area, regularly using Jerry Lawler as a top babyface and bringing in Memphis legends for signings and undercard attractions. Yesterday, Prentice announced that his sister Marilyn would take over the day to day operations of the promotion so he could concentrate on his health. The promotion has dates for August and September scheduled.
Prentice wrote, "As I continue to manage my cancer treatments and rehabilitation. I so appreciate all USA staff and talent, fans, and thousands of friends who have reached out to me with care and love."
He was also a manager of Tully Blanchard for a time as well.
Here's a the news story on his death from WBBJ. https://www.wbbjtv.com/2021/08/04/usa-championship-wrestling-owner-bert-prentice-has-died/
The National Wrestling Alliance 73 PPV at the Chase Ballroom in St. Louis, Missouri has officially sold out.
Tickets are still available for the NWA Empower PPV and the subsequent TV tapings.
Nice to see another company besides AEW and WWE announce a sell out.
The Crash Lucha Libre will hold its first show since the start of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic on September 11 in the 4,500-seat Auditorio de Tijuana, co-promoted with Major League Wrestling’s Azteca Underground brand.
The show will take place on the same day as MLW’s Fusion taping in Dallas, Texas, so it remains to be seen how MLW’s roster will be split between the two events.
MLW World Heavyweight Championship holder Jacob Fatu, MLW National Openweight Championship holder Alexander Hammerstone, MLW World Middleweight Championship holder Myron Reed, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, Calvin Tankman, Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich are among the names confirmed for MLW’s show in Dallas (seen here).
Conversely, El Hijo del L.A. Park, L.A. Park, L.A. Park Jr. and King Muertes are the four luchadores listed on Azteca Underground’s website (seen here).
The Crash has teased Andrade will appear at its first show with live fans back in attendance, though one has to imagine Andrade’s contractual status with All Elite Wrestling would prevent him from appearing on MLW’s Azteca Underground show (if or when the show comes to fruition).
The Crash’s last show was on February 22 last year, marking a 567-day gap between live events.
The Crash was set to hold a show on March 28 last year, but was forced to cancel the show due to the pandemic. Ring of Honor stars Adam Brooks, Bandido, Dragon Lee and PCO were all confirmed to compete, as well as Chris Dickinson (who has since joined ROH). MLW has held co-promoted television tapings in Mexico before, collaborating with Lucha Libre AAA World Wide to hold a taping last March also in Auditorio de Tijuana.
Chris Jericho really makes this too easy to do, and since no other wrestling writers will ever have the balls to call this first part out (Meltzer won't, Scherer is too chickenshit, Mike Johnson? NNAA, WrestlingInc? You'll hear the sounds of a chicken coming from that camp), it'll have to be up to me to do what the others won't have the balls to do.
In an Interview With Inside The Ropes Jericho said the following.
"The Fallen Flower" Kikyo is trying to get back on the winning side of things in this matchup with Chelsea Green from RISE - ASCENT, Episode 11 - The Search for Tito. Waiting in the wings, however, happened to be one Dr. Britt Baker, DMD.
In a rematch from a beloved contest from RISE 6 - BRUTALITY, "The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo says her farewell to RISE as she takes on "Smiley" Kylie Rae in the Main Event of RISE - ASCENT, Episode 10 - Farewell, Virtuosa. Phoenix of RISE Champion "Undeniable" Tessa Blanchard joins Lexie Fyfe and Allysin Kay at the commentary table.
Yes, some people are indeed, that fucking stupid.
Why would anyone, ANYONE be dumb enough to 'pay' (PWInsider's VIP Service) to hear something you can freely hear somewhere else?
Only a fucking moron, would do that. And only idiots like Mike Johnson at PWInsider think that's a "Brilliant' idea. The sad but unfortunate things is, some people ARE stupid enough to indeed, do just that.
I've busted and called them out on this little scam before. Like this story here. https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2019/10/content-available-exclusively-to.html as well as this example here. https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2019/11/content-only-available-exclusively-to.html
So it shouldn't come as much surprise when, I get to do it again. Someday the clowns at PWInsider will smarten up, until then? i get to make it obvious what ass clowns they are.
Unfortunately, they make it so easy, and obvious to do.
So if you want to be one of the smart ones and not one of the suckers who get suckered into their "VIP membership scam" and want to hear something they're making their "VIP Members" pay to listen to. Just go to this link right here on YouTube, and enjoy it for free like many others are doing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp9F_LRc7Xk
You can go ahead and thank me for pointing out what's pretty obvious, even if Mike Johnson is too dumb to notice the obvious himself.
You're welcome. :)
The Assassin/Assassin #1, Jody Hamilton, was in hospice care. He is 82.
The famous heel tag team The Assassins started in the early 1960s with Tom Renesro as Assassins #2. When Renesto retired as a full time wrestler in the mid-1970s, Hamilton continued the masked tag team with various other people under the mask in the role of Assassin #2. Some of the famous names in the gimmick were Randy Colley, Hercules Hernandez and Nick Patrick (Hamilton’s son). The Assassins were regulars in Georgia Championship Wrestling and other southeast and southern territories. Paul Jones was their manager at times. The masks would come into play as weapons during matches. The Assassins would insert foreign objects in them so they could deliver “knockout headbutts” to their baby face opponents when the referee wasn’t looking.
Hamilton was forced to retire after suffering a broken back during a match in the late 1980s. He joined WCW in the start of Ted Turner’s ownership of the company. He did everything in WCW from booking, being a heel manager on TV (as The Assassin), and training wrestlers. Up until the later years of the Monday Night Wars, WCW pay-per-views would run credits at the end of broadcasts which showed the names of everyone who booked and produced the events under their real names. Hamilton’s name was regularly on display.
UPDATE 4;00 PM
Jody Hamilton Jr. aka Nick Patrick announced the passing of his father, the legendary Assassin, Jody Hamilton this afternoon via social medial, writing:
"It is with heavy heart that I make this post. At 2:16 today my father took his last breath on this earth. He passed comfortably, surrounded by the people that love him. Now our attention has to shift over to taking care of my mom. I want to thank everyone that sent out prayers and support for my family. I will put more information about pop out, but right now I'm kinda numb."
Hamilton was 82 at the time of his passing. It was revealed overnight that he had entered hospice care.
He was the head trainer at the WCW Power Plant. A few years after WCW folded he restarted his Deep South Wrestling promotion that became a developmental territory for WWE until 2007.
