Dale Pierce Remembered – Wrestling Manager Extraordinaire

If you've been part of the indy scene in Ohio, Arizona, California (in the late 80's/90's) or the Washington State Area( last few years) You probably have known or heard the name Dale Pierce. He was an important part of these areas for many years as a well known manger, teacher, mentor, etc for many up can coming wrestlers.

Last week Dale Pierce lost his fierce battle with Cancer and many people have stated their reactions to this. Besides being an author of almost two dozen different books he had a blog on the history of Arizona Wrestling, which you can see right here. http://azwreshistory.blogspot.com/2016/01/see-dale-pierce-collection-in-aberseen.html

I had the pleasure of knowing Dale for quite a few years, thru him writing for Evan Ginzburg's old Wrestling Then And Now Newsletter (where I eventually was able to contribute articles and have often had an aritcle in the same issue he had one). To where in a sad irony, he and I have articles in the current issue of Dann Lennards "Feed The Gorilla" fanzine based in Australia. Below you'll see the shots of both his, and my article in the fanzine.

WUW Wrestler Ron Von Hess did this tribute to Dale at the most recent WUW show. https://www.facebook.com/ronbuddahsutherland/videos/2226143924084296/?t=392

I myself did my own video tribute that was posted in the FB group I'm part of.. https://www.facebook.com/100014742766823/videos/515855848915836/?t=0 (If this link doesn't work reply here or message me on Twitter or FB and let me know and I'll upload the video to Youtube) and Evan Ginzburg wrote a tribute to Dale as well that you can see here at this link. https://prowrestlingstories.com/in-memoriam/dale-pierce-remembered/?fbclid=IwAR0pGADeTpkwYc2pPDCqFaMhuCXar_bxL-Gccvzi1KO1UrNb11L-pcIIH18

Dale was very knowledgeable, was a great help to many people including myself, he even encouraged my return to being a wrestling/dirtsheet writer. The wrestling world, more importantly, the indy scene in Az, Ohio and Washington State will forever feel the void of Dale no longer being around. He may have not been the most well known name in this business, but his name? Was well knmown by many in this business and in the end.. That's the kind of respect that's most important. He'll forever be missed by many.

Enzo Amore Kicked Off Plane In New York For Vaping

Former WWE star Enzo Amore was kicked off of a Delta airlines flight at JFK International Airport in New York today. A Reddit user first shared the video below of Enzo being kicked off a plane heading to Los Angeles. Enzo was kicked off of the plane before takeoff for vaping. Enzo reportedly ignored instructions to stop vaping, and the flight was turned around.
We had received a report earlier today that Enzo was in custody, however TMZ reports that while law enforcement was called to the aircraft, he was not arrested.
"A customer was removed from Delta flight 747 operating from New York to Los Angeles for not following crew instructions," a representative for Delta told TMZ. "The flight returned to the gate at John F. Kennedy International Airport where the customer deplaned without further incident." https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/9xf7td/enzo_amore_gets_booted_off_a_plane_and_is_asked/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=f54cb252dae24d53af61344f1db159d8&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=9xf7td

WrestlingInc Is STILL Too Lazy To Fix Their Mistakes, So This Story On Them Remains Valid. :)

https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2018/11/i-get-to-put-someone-at-wrestlinginc-in.html

If you don't want to click the link where I first wrote this story, I'll just cut and paste it here. WrestlingInc fucked up, I showed (as I'll show here) how they're wrong and have the proof, but yet they still, won't go and correct their story. Which shows you what dumb fucks seem to run that site.

As you can see they claim Dundee is a Multi time NWA and AWA Champion, which is complete bullshit. Now I'd go ahead and reply to this story and let them know upfront that they're wrong but as you can see by the second shot, I can't. WrestlingInc has banned me from replying to any of their stories. Why? Because I've had to put them in check on things they've posted in the past and this is their way of responding to the fact that they got checked, with facts and proof. So instead of correcting themselves and crediting me with helping THEM, get their story/facts straight. Someone there (and I have a good idea WHO, that is) decided that banning me for putting them in their place with facts was better than them correcting themselves. So I'm unable to personally tell them that they are once again, incorrect and WRONG, on their claims about Dundee being NWA and AWA Champion.
And before anyone can say 'bullshit' about what i say? Proof is a mother fucker and I'm always a mother fucker, who has proof. So here it is, proof that of course, I know what I'm talking about and some people at WrestlingInc, don't.

Right from the Wikipedia post on Dundee's bio is this nice list of titles he's held. Take a good look because, NOWHERE! Does it say he's been NWA or.. AWA Champion. He's been AWA TAG TEAM Champion with Jerry Lawler. Hell I remember that because I grew up watching the AWA and remember seeing it when it actually happened. The closest thing Dundee has come to being a 'world' singles champion is as you see in the shots, USWA 'Unified' world champion. Which was really a version of the AWA championship that Lawler once held and was STRIPPED OF, when he went and created his own 'Unified' World title belt.

So at least with me? I give you facts, I give you stories based on facts and I can supply proof to back my shit up at any time. Unlike as you see here with WrestlingInc, who doesn't do any real research before they go and post something, and will be really pissed off when they find out this story is out there, putting them in check, again. The least you can do, is do some actual fucking research. It took me ninety seconds to get the proof I needed that staff at WrestlingInc were incorrect on their claims here. Ninety... F'N... Seconds.. Think about that.

So by all means let the staff at WrestlingInc know they've been checked, again. I'm unable to and you can see why, they block people like me who have the balls to fact check their shit. SSOO, since I can't let them know personally thanks to them banning me I'll just put them in their place right here, with this story. Just think, in the time it took for them to post their story, they actually could've did some checking to see if Dundee actually WAS, NWA or AWA Champion. They didn't which now thanks to me putting them in their place one more time, shows you just how, lazy they seem to be there. You can thank me now for being a guy who seems to know more, than the so called 'bigger names and sites' out there :)

Ethan Page Gets Confronted By... D'Lo Brown

Insert Your Own Wise Crack For This Strange John Cena Commercial

THIS... Is The Best They Could Come Up With? DAVID ARQUETTE REPLACING JOEY RYAN AT LA CONFIDENTIAL

Why not book Swoggle vs Ellsworth in a "Street Fight" match too while you're at it (rolls eyes)
With Joey Ryan unable to wrestle at Joey Janela's LA Confidential, Nick Gage has a new opponent for the show.
Janela and Game Changer Wrestling announced today that Gage will now defend his GCW World Championship against actor and former WCW World Champion David Arquette at the event. Arquette made his return to professional wrestling earlier this year.
Ryan, who potentially suffered a torn pec last week, tweeted an injury update today and noted that he's still awaiting MRI results to learn the extent of the injury: "I’m still awaiting MRI results to know the extent. Unfortunately I have to pull off of @BarWrestling, @GCWrestling_ & @newwrestling1 this week. I will however still be on the @WSWWrestlingAUS Australia tour next week but likely in a meet & greet fashion only."
Janela's LA Confidential is taking place at The Hi Hat in Los Angeles, California this Friday, which is during Survivor Series weekend in the city. The show will air live on Fite TV.

I Get To Put Someone At WrestlingInc In Check, Again (They Don't Do Any Research It Seems)

The following screenshots comes from WrestlingInc's own web page. A story they posted about Bill Dundee.

As you can see they claim Dundee is a Multi time NWA and AWA Champion, which is complete bullshit. Notes on MLW And Their Recent Show In Cicero (Not Chicago, Since Cicero Is Just OUTSIDE Chicago)

The show broke several records for the promotion.  It was the best attendance in company history, as well as the biggest gate in the history of MLW, dating back to its first event in 2002.  The event set merchandise sale records and speaking to several wrestlers, they did incredible business selling their own merchandise as well.  We are told that Cicero Stadium concessions were so packed that the venue was sold out of several food items by intermission.
The locker room morale coming out of the show was said to be have been excellent as well.  The crowd reactions were described as great and that fed into the energy in the locker room, which several said was the best since the company restarted.  Tommy Dreamer was described as a “Godsend” in terms of his help behind the scenes and Konnan continues to get praised by younger talents as “getting their vision” and working with them on how to make it work, as opposed to shooting things down.
The debut of CMLL star Rush got a massive reaction.  He came out to his authentic theme music from Mexico, which MLW’s Court Bauer was able to gain clearance for through his hip hop connections.  The idea is to build to Rush vs. L.A. Park and bring that rivalry here.
BeIN Sports had a team at the show, shooting photos and additional video material for usage on their network, including segments that will be worked into their Locker Room daily sports desk broadcasts.
The taping went longer than usual as the promotion needed to film five weeks’ worth of content.  They usually film four hours.
MJF got a ton of heat before his flag match with Puma King cutting a USA vs. Mexico promo.  It was described as like the type of heat Americans would get in AAA working heels in the 1990s.  There have been a lot who have compared MJF to Chris Candido behind the scenes.
Lagunitas Beer, an MLW sponsor, sent several congratulatory cases of beer to the locker room for a little post-show celebration.
Brody King was said to be working through a hip issue at the show.
Joey Ryan worked despite what is believed to have been a pectoral muscle tear suffered the night before in Austin, Texas.  His tag match with Swoggle was laid out to protect him and to allow Swoggle to work more of the bout.  Ryan was adamant that he didn’t want to let fans down and did everything he could to work around the injury without complicating matters.  He was said to have been in good spirits despite not knowing what he was in for medically.  On his Facebook page, Ryan noted, "My doctor thinks my chest has a tear somewhere in it because of all the swelling and is worried about it healing in the wrong place and causing me discomfort forever."  He was scheduled to get an X-Ray and MRI today, but as of this posting there's no official update on the injury, how it will be treated or how long he could technically be out of the ring.

They ran an angle where Shane Strickland was upset after losing his MLW title bout against Champion Low Ki that spilled over onto social media.  Strickland cut a promo that was described as a tantrum knocking the promotion as well as Court Bauer and MLW fans.  The core idea, which sounds as if it has echoes of the night Bret Hart railed against WWF on Monday Night Raw years ago, was that Strickland was blaming fans for wanting pro wrestling that was bad for wrestling and was wrong.  He pushed that he was sick of being screwed over despite all his hard work.  Strickland had been wiped out early in the Wargames a few months ago and taken out without getting any revenge on Sami Callihan.  He and Bauer went back and forth on Twitter as well.  There’s been talk of WWE interest in Strickland off and on over the last year, so it should be interesting to see where this goes and whether it’s the beginning of an exit strategy for him.

UFC Fighter Julianna Pena, currently ranked at #3 was in the front row.

Pretty Sad That An Indy Promoter Thought THIS, Was A 'Great Booking'. (rolls eyes)

You know it's pretty fucking lame when the best a promoter can do for a main event is Hornswoggle vs Ellsworth in a street fight match.

Big Time Wrestling from Friday night in Lynn, MA before 300 fans: Slyk Wagner Brown b Brandon Webb, Todo Loco & Mister TA b Channing Thomas & Beau Douglas, John Walters b Teddy Goodz, Big Cass b Thomas Santell (Antonio Thomas), Danny Miles b Bam Shaw, Hornswoggle b James Ellsworth in a street fight.

Why not have them put a local guy over, OR.. Spend the money it cost to bring them two guys in, and bring someone else who'll actually mean something on the show? The sad fact is? 300 people paid to see this thinking this was a 'great' match up. (rolls eyes)

Insert Your Own Eye-Roll On This. Great Khali Thinks He's Vince Russo I Guess

There was a strangle angle done in India this week. Rebel from Impact (Tanea Brooks) is there for shows put on by Great Khali in large arenas and stadiums. She did a dance off with Indian reality TV star and actress Rakhi Sawant, which ended up with Rebel giving Sawant a bodyslam. Sawant then claimed that Rebel tried to injure her back on purpose so she could never dance again. Sawant is in the media in India claiming that Bollywood model and actress Tanushree Dutta drugged and raped her. Dutta represented India in the Miss Universe contest in 2004 and has since become a well known actress. She claimed that Dutta paid off Rebel to injure her on her Instagram. It should be noted that Khali still acts like wrestling is real and they do angles like that there.

Cody Rhodes Update

The results of Cody Rhodes' MRI on his knee came in today, and he suffered a large meniscus tear in an injury on Friday night's ROH Global Wars show in Buffalo.
The injury occurred when he pivoted his foot just moving and not the result of any move. He heard a large pop.
The injury will require arthroscopic surgery.
Right now his plan is to get the surgery in January after NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13. While not announced, based on the angle last night in Toronto, it looks like he will defend the IWGP United States Heavyweight title against Juice Robinson on that show.
Cody missed last night's match in Toronto against Beretta, and Robinson took his place in the match and won. The usual New Japan protocol is if a champion misses a title defense the substitution match is for the title, but in this case that would have changed scheduled plans.
Cody tweeted this afternoon: "GOOD news is my doctor is fairly confident that my mcl/pcl/acl are structurally sound. BAD news is the meniscus is fairly damaged, gonna’ require a scope. No dates will be adjusted at the moment, and I’ll definitely still compete in the final battle main event & at WK."

Ricky Steamboat On Which Legend He Had His First Hour Long Match With, His Recent Hip Surgery

Recently on The Jim Ross Report, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross caught up with fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat aboard Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager At Sea. Among many other interesting professional wrestling topics, Steamboat discussed his recovery from hip replacement surgery, his legendary trio of matches versus two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair, and working hourlong 'broadways' with WWE Hall Of Famer Harley Race.
According to Steamboat, he is recovering from surgery nicely and is already working out again.
"Well, you find out when you get older that it gets harder. It certainly does. I'm just coming off about, what, three-and-a-half months ago, I had total hip [replacement] surgery on the right side and that worked out well. It's working out well. I'm back in the gym doing squats." Steamboat added, "I still do the old school stuff. I'm just not concerned about putting the weight on as much as just going through the motions to keep things lubricated and stretched out."
On the subject of the iconic Steamboat/Flair trilogy, 'The Dragon' shared that they only ever planned out the finishes of the matches and the rest was called on the fly.
"When I worked with Flair and 90% of the heels at that time, we would be going into a match knowing the finish, which is maybe the last two or three minutes of the match. So me and Flair averaged 40 [or] 50 minutes every night, so they're asking, 'well, how did you guys put together the first 40 minutes?' and that was everything on the fly. Yeah [instincts], and nothing sat down for hours upon hours, which I see a lot of talent today [doing]. I'm not knocking that, but that's just the way it is today. And going over the match and every P and Q, but Flair and I, and like I said, 90% of the heels, we would go in knowing the last couple of minutes of the match."

Also during the interview, Steamboat recalled working Race in the former Intercontinental Champion's first hour long match.
"My first one-hour broadway, that's a [pro] wrestling term, was with Harley." Steamboat remembered, "yeah, in the late 70s, in the Carolinas, George Scott the booker just came down to the locker room and we were in Raleigh, North Carolina. He said, 'you're working with the Champ.' I was the United States Champion at the time and when you're in the Mid-Atlantic region and US Champ, which is the number one contender to the World Champ. And back then, the World Champ is making his rounds to all the towns in the territories and it was, 'you're going to go an hour tonight, Ricky.' I said, 'well, George, I've never done an hour,' and he said, 'you'll be alright. Just listen to Harley.' So that was my first one-hour [match]."
Moreover, Steamboat said that Race let the four-time United States Champion call their second hour long match.
"A year later, Harley still being the NWA Champ came back into the Carolinas, making his rounds." Steamboat continued, "we're in Raleigh, North Carolina. I don't remember the dates, but I remember it was the same month, and George says, 'you're going to do an hour with the Champ just like you did last year.' Yeah, and I'll tell you something that not too many people know. When we locked up, for the second time that we met for the hour, Harley looked at me and he says, 'you call this one tonight, kid. I'm tired' because everywhere he goes, he does one-hour broadways. Oh man, my legs turned to rubber, and Jello, and I just about went down to my knees, and I got back up, and I said, 'what did you say?' He said, 'you call this one tonight, kid. I'm tired.'"

Paul London Interview, Says "Social Media And Wrestling Are Poisonous"

In the video above, Ben Givan sat down to speak with Paul London backstage at Pro Wrestling Ulster for GG Media's YouTube channel.
During the interview, Givan's asked the question about which promotion has been the most generous and opened/free to let his creativity grow and who was the most restrictive, shocker, it was WWE when London worked there from 2003-2008.
"Lucha Underground is the most creative and collaborative company I worked for," London said. "Lucha Underground is so cinematic. The downside, we don't get to work enough because we work in seasons. ... My time at WWE was very restrictive and 'how can we make this dumber.' I always looked to create fresh content."
London was asked about the new indie boom in wrestling in the last three to five years. A boom that has also involved a more aggressive in-ring style with higher risk moves becoming the norm.
"I can't say that I'm a big fan of it," London admitted. "I don't really watch wrestling when I'm home just because it doesn't excite me like I want it to. Just a lot of [TV wrestling] isn't executed well, in my opinion, because of the climate of wrestling now. Nowadays you have to be part of this climate and things have to be in the climate. That stuff makes me sick and I want to spit all that out and do my own thing. That way I can dictate the pace, as opposed to live up to all of these ridiculous acrobatics, and car crashes, and all this crap that really doesn't entertain me. If anything, I'm going to get hurt more trying to acclimate to the current style."
He didn't hold back either on his thoughts on social media and wrestling, saying that there should be an "aura" of wrestling that should be kept alive. His concern is too many wrestlers want to be liked, rather than sticking to the story.
"Guys would rather be liked and defy kayfabe or storytelling for the sake of being liked and that disgusts me," London responded. "Social media and wrestling are poisonous. It's a great tool for promoting, but if you are going to sit there and pull the curtain back, please don't! You're making this crap for everybody, you're giving the tricks [away], you know what I mean? We need to maintain the aura of the excitement of the illusion, or whatever you want to call it. But, too many people would rather just be liked in real life, and not commit to storytelling and being performers."

Nick Aldis On WWE's Waffling When it Came To Him. ("OOOO" Dis on WWE, LOL)

Nick Aldis spent nearly eight years with TNA/Impact Wrestling where he won the World Heavyweight Championship and two Tag Team Titles. Outside of a return there in 2017, Aldis has mainly been competing on the indie circuit and with the resurgent NWA.
It was also with Impact Wrestling that Aldis met Mickie James who is now his wife. James returned to WWE in 2017 and many have wondered when or if her husband would ever follow her to WWE. Aldis discussed that very topic on The Apter Chat.
"I had interest," Aldis said of WWE prospects. "And they had interest when I was with TNA. Then, for whatever reason, when I became available [in 2015], it was a different story.
"Quite frankly, I had too many conversations with them where the first couple of times it was 'no.' Then it was 'no, not right now.' And then it was 'let me talk to this guy, let me talk to that guy.' I just got to a point where I just lost interest. That was all I ever wanted at one point, then for whatever reason it never materialized.
WWE's waffling back and forth has left a bad taste in Aldis' mouth as he feels that there's something WWE is not letting him in on.
"I feel like there's something there that they are not telling me," Aldis admitted. "I don't know what it is. Frankly, we're all adults. I'd rather them give me a straight answer but I could never get that from them.
"There's so many people and so many camps. There's so many snakes in the grass. I'd rather just get a straight answer and they don't want to do that. I just don't have time to play games with them."
Aldis is doing quite alright for himself without a WWE paycheck and competed against Cody at All In. He dropped the NWA World Championship to Cody there but won it back at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show last month. At 32 years old the door is certainly not closed for WWE, but he seems content with his current standing on the independent circuit.
"I just want to be a big-time pro wrestler and if I have to be a big-time pro wrestler by building my own [brand] then so be it," said Aldis.
