Who is NOT going to WWE.

Tessa Blanchard noted on Twitter that she's taking independent bookings in 2018, so it appears that she is not WWE bound as was expected. Tessa wrestled several matches in NXT last year, and was a part of the Mae Young Classic tournament this past summer, where she was eliminated in the first round by Kairi Sane.

As was  reported yesterday by a few people, James Storm is also taking independent bookings, so it appears as if he will not be signing with WWE soon either. Storm is taking bookings through Bull Behrens at SBIBookings.com.

Dolph Ziggler Hints At Leaving WWE Soon.

Recently on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, WWE legends Edge and Christian were joined by fellow former world champion Dolph Ziggler. Among other things, Ziggler talked about being passed over and how constantly losing has made his job more difficult. Additionally, Ziggler expressed his frustration over his current role with WWE and he indicated that he will have to make a decision about returning to WWE shortly.

According to Ziggler, he understands why fans believe 'The Show Off' has been overlooked by WWE brass; however, he also recognizes how easily he could have been kicked to the curb at Titan Tower along with his box of failed gimmicks.

"I see it both ways. Like, I don't know. I'm not a giant guy, so maybe in some other world I would have worked here [in WWE] for a year-and-a-half as a caddie and a cheerleader then went away. But, so, I see the positives, like, 'hey, man, I've been here for 12 years and almost always regularly on TV, but I think, at a point, that becomes a burden of not going away, of always being passed over. You're passed over a handful of times over a couple of years then you start to have more of a cult following and it gets hot. But after a couple of years of not having the trigger pulled, and the eight year-old kids know you're in that role, I've noticed in the last couple of years, even my live event matches, it's harder for me to do my job because when I come out the 10 year-old kid goes, 'I know you're losing' and I go, 'oh crap' because it's one thing to have 40 year-old guys going, 'I know what's going to happen - that's fine. I'm here - they put on a show and we still have fun,' but when you get in that role and you miss, like, years of not going with it, it becomes a burden."

In Ziggler's estimation, losing has made his job of building up NXT call-ups more difficult because he has lost credibility with the audience.

"Now, my job of making somebody that should be ready for a world title picture becomes harder and it's not as much of a shove and if you see the last six months, a year of TV, basically, I'm a gatekeeper to the guys from NXT coming up that they have high expectations for, but if I lose for eight consecutive months before they show up, they are no longer getting that pat on the back to go up a notch, so I almost feel like it's taking back from my role. So I don't know what the change would be, either be to switch things up, disappear here and there, or, I've said this to the boss on several occasions, I go, 'I've made a career out of almost never winning, which is awesome,' but I go, 'at some point, I have to be seen as someone who can win, not just by pulling a needle out of a haystack or a lottery ball saying tonight is finally going to be the night because then it loses all of that lustre.'"

Similarly, Ziggler says wins and losses are irrelevant unless you are the one losing every night.

"Wins and losses don't matter unless you're the guy who loses every single night. And, if you're that guy, then maybe you should be in the dark match, not fighting to see who becomes world champion each night. And even if you do pull that rabbit out of the hat, people know it's not long term."
Ziggler went on to say that he wants to be a bigger part of the show, but everyone thinks they should be.

"I hate it, but also I'm someone who hates that I'm not champion. I hate that the show's not about me because that's the mentality you should have if you're in the business [of pro wrestling]. If you're there to be, like, 'hey, I'm that opening guy that works for 10 years and can save a bunch of money,' that's great, but there [are] 1,000 other guys that are sitting in the back that are saying, 'I want to be the best. I want to main event WrestleMania. I want the show to be about me.' And so, you have to have that mentality, but I've also been around long enough to know the score, to know what's going on, so I hate being in that position. I think I should be a bigger part of the show, but so does everybody else, but not everybody else has proven that, so I feel like after a while, proving it so much, even that becomes a thing like, 'sorry, you have the curse of the worker' or 'hey, you're kind of like our Shawn Michaels guy who can work with anybody and it could seem like a main event somewhere.' And I go, 'well, that shouldn't be a bad thing, but sometimes it is."

Also during the podcast, Ziggler claimed that he has to make a decision on his future with WWE very soon.

"I have a very short amount of time left to figure out if I want to do that again or if there's something to reach for. All I could reach for is fun-ass matches and tearing it down on the weekends because it doesn't seem to be a specific great prize to be reaching for here that I can attain, so I can be patted on the back and told, 'you're our guy - you're our Shawn Michaels. You're so good at this - we can't do this without you!' and then kind of see a bunch of guys not in that position coast right by. So there [are] no feelings hurt. It's a show business thing where I love it and in a very short time, I will have to decide if I need to go away and do my own thing or if I need to find a different role here."

Ziggler suggested that his current role of "gatekeeper" is a great role, but maybe not for him. Moreover, the former Money In The Bank briefcase holder averred that he needs to attain a higher level of success within WWE to make putting others over more meaningful.

"Gatekeeper is a great spot for someone who hasn't been world champion, who doesn't excel at the seven out of the possible eight things you can do here as a sports entertainer and it's really weird that I can't get more, but trust me when I say I'm knocking on the door every other day and almost demanding it, so we will see what happens in a very short while, but I would love to keep doing this, just at a different level and I need to know that the company is on my side with taking it to another level, so I can give back and help at another level."

Boy is this contract deal a bunch of bullshit. WWE Reportedly Interested In Signing Top Impact Star Facing Possible Departure, Note On Contracts

It's been reported before how Bobby Lashley and Ethan Carter III could be leaving Impact Wrestling when their contracts expire soon. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that former World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards may be joining EC3 and Lashley as his contract expires in February 2018.

Regarding contracts moving forward, word is that the company will only be offering the new per-day contracts instead of significant guaranteed money deals, which Lashley, EC3 and Edwards are currently signed to. There's a good chance these three veterans may be leaving because of this, just like James Storm. Storm recently left the company as he was signed to a high-paying contract that the company did not want to renew as they are looking to stop losing money

No word yet on Eddie's future plans but the belief right now is that WWE and ROH do have interest in signing him. WWE's interest is for the WWE NXT brand, according to The Observer.

Chris Jericho On If There Are Plans For A WWE Return, WWE Contract Status, If He'll Appear On ROH TV

SCOTT D'AMORE & DON CALLIS TALK THEIR NEW ROLES IN IMPACT WRESTLING, CHANGING THE CULTURE, HOW THEY ARE APPROACHING MOVING THE COMPANY FORWARD & MORE

Chris Jericho interviewed the new Impact executive team Don Callis and Scott D'Amore on his podcast this week.

The pair discussed their history together, the business experience outside of wrestling that will help them see It from a different perspective and how Chris Jericho helped grease the wheels for the new regime to take hold of the company. Scott discusses the different vibe with the Len Asper and Anthem in charge. Don Callis says that he hopes he can help young talent like Paul Heyman and Terry Taylor helped him.

In regards to the big picture plans for the company, they want a roster that believes in the future creating a symbiotic relationship building the brand of Impact while also helping the talent with their brand as performers. This will bring back goodwill to Impact because the independent scene is so strong. There will still be contracts with Impact but it will be structured in a way that when they're not working dates for the company they can market the brand in other places.

Scott D'Amore realizes they can't run 250 dates a year so they want talent to work as much as possible. He says they want a roster of homegrown stars and established talent. They hope to do this by giving talent a creatively free platform that cultivates new stars.

Scott D'Amore says international is very big for the future of the company. He brings up their worldwide distribution deals. He states that the product has to be thought of globally not just a single wrestling booking style.

Don talks about the true economics of international business in China and India is very much different than in the US. But it is a possibile for professional wrestling to have believability in the business however it takes time. Callis talks about cultural differences in regards to content and live events.

Jericho asks about roster overhaul in which D'Amore answers by saying it's going to be a long process which will move people in other roles and see others part ways. When asked whether there will be a core group of talent on the roster, Callis answers bringing up All Japan in the 90s saying the company will have to find a balance in cycling in new talent and established stars of Impact. The pair says the company wants to be competitive but they're not going to be reactionary they want to worry about their own business.

The moving of Impact Wrestling to Canada is discussed. Don and Scott say that there are plans to shoot television and events in multiple different countries and markets in order to give the company an international feel.

When asked if Orlando TV tapings are done they say no. They state the first taping date is January 10 at Universal Studios.

In regards to what creative direction they want to take the company, Don says that they don't want to be "WWE lite". They don't want to overproduce talent. They want talent to be comfortable and find the originality and creativity that comes within. Callis says a good booker cannot tell you your character better than you can. But they want to help direct and push talents to find themselves. They say that they have full creative control, Anthem has a hands-off approach to the company.

Callis states he is a bigger picture thinker with an 18-month plan for the company. When asked about live events, Don states they have to build the brand and the excitement for the brand before really going out there on the road. But plans are in place. They say however that the size of the company allows them to be more nimble and fluid in the marketing for market unlike WWE tailoring promotion to different markets.

Don is asked about his NJPW duties and he says it's a sign of the new openness of Impact be able to work both jobs. D'Amore says the mission statement for the new company is to establish trust between performers. Callis states that is going to a culture shift in the right direction.

BAGWELL/RAVEN LAWSUIT AGAINST WWE DISMISSED

Yesterday, the United States District Court of Connecticut officially dismissed the lawsuit brought by Marcus Bagwell and Scott "Raven" Levy against World Wrestling Entertainment over allegations that WWE owes them royalties from usage of material featuring their work in matches and segments from WCW and WWE on the WWE Network.

The lawsuit, filed in August 2016, was dismissed with prejudice, which means that neither party would be allowed to bring claims against WWE again.  There is no word yet what led to the dismissal, but court filings indicated the two sides had been speaking about a potential settlement.

Bagwell and Raven had alleged that WWE had breached their contracts of both Bagwell and Levy by failing to pay direct sales royalties to material that was included on the WWE Network's streaming service.  WWE's contracts define material they provide royalties for as content that fall under direct sales, defined as "...including without limitation, at the arena, via mail order sales or directly on television, or via the Internet...."    Levy and Raven argued that WWE Network subscriptions would fall under that description, while WWE argued that unlike a DVD, which they do provide royalties for, there is no sale of physical media with a WWE Network subscription, just a license that a subscriber rents, allowing them to view the content offered.

Levy had argued that talent should be paid for the WWE Network under the same royalty rate that they would receive contractually, from PPV and video sales.  He also argued that once WWE purchased the WCW and ECW video libraries, those libraries would now fall under the promised royalty rate that he was promised contractually from WWE for direct sale of WWE events and that when he was released by WWE in 2013, the agreement to release him noted WWE had completely bought Levy out of any claims against them or any money owed "other than the obligation to pay Levy the royalties due to him pursuant to, and as determined by, the Contract."

Bagwell made similar claims in the lawsuit, alleging WWE failed to pay royalties on material on WCW and WWE content featuring Bagwell that was available on the WWE Network.  Bagwell had also alleged that WWE, by selling WCW content, without paying him his royalties, had breached an agreement the parties signed when Bagwell released by WWE in 2001 after a short, uneventful run.   Bagwell had also alleged that WWE had failed to pay him royalties within 90 days, was late in paying royalties and has not paid any royalties since February 2014 when the WWE Network launched.   The non-payment of royalties was another alleged breach of Bagwell's contract,

The lawsuit also alleged that WWE breached its fiduciary duty to Levy and Bagwell because WWE was in a superior position when it came to knowledge of finances and money owed to the talents.  Bagwell had claimed that his WWE contract allowed him to have his own independent certified accountant audit WWE-WCW's books, citing, "for the purpose of verifying the accuracy thereof, during WCW’s normal business hours and upon reasonable notice. Such audit shall be conducted in a manner that will not unreasonably interfere with WCW’s normal business operations. Wrestler shall not audit WCW’s books and records more than twice during any calendar year and no such audit shall be conducted later than one (1) year after the last statement of royalties is given, delivered or sent to Wrestler. Each audit is limited to seven (7) days in duration. Statements of royalties may be changed from time to time to reflect year-end adjustments, to correct clerical errors and for similar purposes."

Bagwell has alleged that he had attempted to do exactly that in June 2016 and was initially told an audit could be done in late July or early August 2016, only to later be informed by WWE's counsel, K&L Gates, that there would be no audit, as Bagwell's accountant, "asserted a pretextual and invalid audit request to attempt to stealthily obtain that information (WWE network royalty audit)" and that since Bagwell is not paid WWE Network royalties, "there is nothing to audit."   Since WWE blocked Bagwell's attempts to audit the records as he was contractually allowed to do, he claimed that the company had forfeited any claim that Bagwell did not satisfy any of WWE's prerequisite actions contractually before he filed his lawsuit.

After the lawsuit was filed and early attempts to have it dismiss failed on WWE's part, WWE sources indicated that plans to add WWE Sunday Night Heat and WCW Thunder were both stalled, even though the complete runs of each series were prepared and ready to be added to the WWE Network's Video on Demand component.    Both Levy and Bagwell were featured on those series and adding new material could add to potential damages should the courts not rule in WWE's favor.  We are told that WWE also looked into whether it was feasible to remove content featuring the two from the Network.   Sources were told that the company took the issue so seriously, they put research into whether it was worth removing all signs of Levy and Bagwell from the Network's VOD component, despite the amount of manpower and money it would require.

Yesterday's dismissal prevents the company from having to move forward with such moves and opens up the floodgates, so to speak, for that content to be added to the WWE Network in 2018.  It also closes the door, for now at least, on the issue of whether talents should be due royalties for material featured on the WWE Network

James Storm On His Impact Departure, If He'll Get Heat For Farewell Promo, Changes Needed In Impact

Recently on Cerrito Live, former Impact Wrestling mainstay James Storm addressed his departure from the pro wrestling promotion. Also, Storm talked about whether his farewell promo will ever air on Impact television. Finally, Storm shared his thoughts on the future of Impact.

During the interview, Storm confirmed his Impact Wrestling departure, saying he feels like he has accomplished all of his goals at Impact. Additionally, Storm suggested that the regime change that saw the ouster of Jeff Jarrett may have influenced his decision to part ways with Impact.

"It actually hasn't [become] official for me, but, yes, I have left Impact Wrestling and it's just one of those things where it just kind of felt like I did everything I can do with that company and the landscape of it has changed from the time I was there."

Storm continued, "but so many people want to frown upon Dixie [Carter] and Jeff [Jarrett] and all that, but the reason I thank them and Bob Ryder is because basically if it wasn't for those guys, there would be no 'Cowboy' James Storm. There might not be an AJ Styles and might not be a Bobby Roode, might not be all these other guys who got the breaks that Jeff gave us when he started up TNA Impact Wrestling back in the day."

Apparently, the farewell promo Storm cut after competing in his final match for Impact was not planned. Rather, Storm wanted to go out on his terms and does not care whether he has heat with Impact brass as a result.

"Hey, I left - who cares if there's heat? No, it's just one of those things. I just grabbed [the microphone] because, like, if I'm going out, I'm going out the way that I want to. I'd do the match however they wanted, but at the end of the day, when I grabbed that microphone and said what I had to say, it was from the heart. And being on the road so long, I wanted to say to my wife and my kids, 'hey, I'm coming home for a little while and daddy gets to spend time with you because I'm taking time off, letting my body heal, and then go back at it.' And also, like I said, Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Bob Ryder, without those guys, a lot of the guys you know now wouldn't be around and they gave us a platform."

As for whether the farewell promo will ever see the light of day, Storm did not seem confident that it will ever air on Impact television because 'The Cowboy' namechecked Carter, Jarrett, and Ryder.

"As far as the video, to me, I don't know. I doubt it, but I'm not for sure if that footage will ever be seen. It might now that it has leaked out on the internet."

Storm said, "but those guys needed to get kudos. They always get crapped on for all the negative stuff that goes on, but they never get the praise for the good stuff that happened."

With respect to the future of Impact, Storm admitted that he does not know where it will go, but wishes them well because The Hexagon is another place for pro wrestlers to work.

"I wish I could say either way and I never wish bad upon anybody and I definitely don't wish bad upon Impact Wrestling because I'm not there anymore because to me, it gives the boys another place to work where they might not have another place to work. It gives them television exposure and all of that. And as far as where they'll be, I don't know. I just know that they need a lot of work in different departments. It's definitely not the wrestling side because the boys are bringing it. So, hopefully, like I said, hopefully, they'll be around for a while, just to give the guys another place to work and be able to make a living."

Storm stressed that Anthem needs to improve its marketing of Impact. Also, Storm mused that NXT vs. Impact Wrestling could have been done on the WWE Network if WWE bought Impact.

"It starts from the head of the snake and that's Anthem. They need to make changes to make it more marketable to me. That's what I always said, 'what would've happened if instead of Anthem, WWE got ahold of [Impact] and put it on the Network and did something [like] NXT versus TNA or something like that or whatever the name is?'"

SEAN ‘X-PAC’ WALTMAN TALKS ABOUT KEEPING THE RIGHTS TO INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE- Los Angeles

X-PAC 12360

Wrestler, Austin Aries is the special guest on X-Pac12360 and talks about life after the WWE

Get it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/n8acHoYp1xU  or download the podcast version on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/x-pac-1-2-360-afterbuzz-tv/id1150124693?mt=2&i=374822005, with highlights below:

Sean “X-Pac” Waltman on Companies Owning People's Intellectual Property:I think it can be a situation where both sides can feel that they’ve won. I think that when somebody goes there (Impact Wrestling) and they create something (Broken Matt Hardy) that they should be able to take it with them. But when they go, the company should still be able to exploit that and still market it as well. I’m for everyone getting a piece we don’t have to be greedy here. Everyone can win.

Austin Aries on Being Contacted by Impact Wrestling After Leaving WWE:We had some talks but really for me, the only position I was interested in there; was the position of being a decision maker. I told Dixie (Carter) when I left there I wouldn’t come back and work for anybody. But If I was going to come back there (Impact), that I had to be in a position to make a difference. I know they just went through a big régime change I know we had some discussion about me coming in there and possibly being part of the team. But I know where I am right now in my career and all the possibilities and things I have in front of me I really couldn’t invest myself emotionally into that because let's be honest they’ve got a lot of work to do there. They’ve done a lot of bad business over the years and they’ve got a lot to overcome. And I think the guys there know that and I wish them luck.

Austin Aries Talks About The Kind Of Wrestling Promotion He’d Like To Work With: I don't wanna stamp my name of approval on places that aren't doing it the right way or at least trying to do it the right way. It's very important to me that if I show up somewhere, I'm going to believe in what you're doing or trying to do. And if I feel at any point that that shifts, I have no problem walking away from that. I'm not gonna patch my name on places that are doing the old way of business. We want to move forward, we wanna have places where guys can make a good living.

Austin Aries Talks About FAN Support Through Merchandise: It ain't about that last twenty dollars, I don’t know how many of those things [merch] that I'll give away or I throw an extra one of this [merch]... I respect those people who do show up and show their appreciation because that is how we [wrestlers] supplement our income.

Austin Aries Talks About Endless Opportunities:I had to divide my time, had some restrictions and during that time, I had a herniated disk in my neck and I had to get right before I can get back in the ring. I'm really lucky and thankful that my opportunities were endless. I have seen people reaching out, booking me on their show. I really had the opportunity to pick and choose where I wanna go, make my own schedule, decide where I wanted to stamp my name.

RIC FLAIR DISCUSSES HIS HEALTH ISSUES, ADVICE AFTER WHAT HE'S BEEN THROUGH, THE MATT LAUER SCANDAL AND MORE WITH RICKY MORTON

The tenth episode of the School of Morton podcast co-hosted by WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Ricky Morton of the Rock n’ Roll Express is available for download right now! “Nature Boy” Ric Flair opens up about his hospitalization, his health today, advice for the future, plus stories of partying with Ricky Morton, Dusty Rhodes, Road Warrior Animal, Chuck Berry, and Dan Aykroyd.

Ric Flair on being in the hospital:  “I got a really sharp pain in my stomach. I knew the pain. That was very similar to the pain I had the last time. Wendy took me to the hospital and my intestine had broken open and that’s the last thing I remember. I don’t remember anything else. On Monday they put me in an induced coma. I stayed in that and on life support for 11 days. I don’t remember any of it. I just dreamt.” He added, “I had to learn how to walk again. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t twist the top off a Gatorade bottle or open a diet coke I lost forty-three pounds.”

Ric Flair on falling off a boat that was in motion and Ricky Morton rescuing him: “I was trying to figure out my way. It was about a mile to the shore each way… maybe a little less I was trying to figure out which way was closer when you guys found me.” Ricky Morton talks about pulling Ric Flair into the boat, “This is true… this is Ric Flair he had a $2,000 suit on… I pulled Ric in the boat. He had a necktie on, one sock, and his underwear. That’s all he had on”.

Ric Flair on Matt Lauer: “$25 million a year salary. Are you kidding me. Who could blow that deal?”

Ric Flair on his advice for living life, “For me I would say make the most of every day. When you come close to losing that opportunity it makes you realize all the more how lucky you are to have that opportunity. So make the most of every day.”

Michael Elgin has some problems.

Smash Wrestling in Canada announced that they’ve suspended Michael Elgin’s bookings for December 17th and January 19th and Limitless Wrestling in Maine announced that Elgin has been replaced by Jeff Cobb on their January 19th show. The issues stem from how Elgin handled a sexual assault allegation that was made against Sean Orleans, who was a former student of Elgin’s and wrestled for his Glory Pro promotion until being let go after the allegation was made public. Both promotions released statements about their shows being inclusive, welcoming, fun, and safe environments, with Smash Wrestling citing Elgin’s potential knowledge of the incident before it was publicly revealed as the reason for their decision. Cobb being announced as Elgin’s replacement comes after private messages of Elgin criticizing Cobb as a tag team partner in NJPW had been released. Elgin issued a statement about the situation before later deactivating his Twitter account.

Cody Rhodes Quote

In an excerpt of an interview with ESPN, Cody Rhodes said that they’ll have a date and venue within two weeks for the 10,000 seat show he and The Young Bucks are self-financing: “We’ll have a date and a place within two weeks. That’s why I went ahead and commented on the original story, because it’s far enough along in the process that people need to know it’s happening.”

Bret Hart Files $1 Million Lawsuit Over Botched Surgery

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has reportedly filed a $1-million lawsuit over a botched wrist surgery that has left him unable to use his right thumb and index finger. The Calgary Sun reports Hart underwent the surgery two years ago with Dr. Justin Yeung to deal with an injury he had endured since 1981.

Six weeks after his surgery on Nov. 23, 2015, Hart visited Yeung to have three pins removed and this is when he first indicated that he lacked function in his right thumb and index finger. Yeung advised him to take a wait-and-see approach, but the problems persisted well into 2016.
"The defendants were negligent, breached the duties of care they owed to Mr. Hart and breached their agreement with (him)," the lawsuit alleges. It goes on to say Yeung and his surgery team left "a tourniquet on Mr. Hart's right arm on too long, such that the circulation of the nerves and tendons to his right thumb and index finger were damaged by a prolonged insufficient supply of oxygen.

Hart is seeking $1 million in general damage in addition to unspecified amounts for lost income and other losses.
"He is unable to participate in his previous recreational and social activities," the lawsuit states about Hart's current limitations. "He is unable to use his right hand to pick up and functionally use objects, including pens, pencils, eating utensils and tools."

The defense has not yet filed a statement disputing the allegations. Calgary Sun reports that Hart underwent another surgery in Vancouver in October, but the outcome of that surgery is not yet known

DR. D DAVID SCHULTZ RELEASING AUTOBIOGRAPHY

The infamous "Dr. D" David Schultz will be releasing an autobiography "Don't Call Me Fake: The Real Story of 'Dr. D' David Schultz" with co-author John Cosper in early 2018.  The current plan is to release the book sometime in January as the majority of the work has been completed.

The book will cover Schultz's life as a professional wrestler as well as his post-wrestling career as a bounty hunter who traveled the world bringing back criminals who had absconded from their court dates.   Over the course of his bounty hunting career, Schultz had a 100% capture rate and those he brought back never skipped again.

On the wrestling end, the book will cover Schultz's early life, his training with Herb Welch, his years in Memphis, Florida, Stampede, the AWA, and the WWF. Obviously, the John Stossel ABC 20/20 incident and Schultz's dismissal from WWF will be covered as will be his run after WWF and his time training professional wrestlers.  There will be stories about Hulk Hogan, Antonio Inoki, Johnny Rodz, The Iron Sheik, Ric Flair, and Abdullah the Butcher, among others.

The book will feature over 100 photos from Schultz's personal collection including photos that would have exposed kayfabe back in the 80s.

The book will be over 460 pages in total.

BREAKING DOWN TODAY'S IMPACT MANAGEMENT ADDITIONS, DEPARTURES COMING AND MORE

For those who like this kind of stuff. Alberto Del Rio Talks Breakup With Paige And What Caused It

Alberto Del Rio and Paige have ended their relationship. Speaking on Keeping It 100 with Konnan, Del Rio broke his silence by confirming that he and his fiancé have been broken up for the last few weeks.

"We decided to end our relationship because she's in Orlando, I'm in San Antonio, and now she's back on the road and the schedule over there is nonstop, Del Rio said. "And my schedule is nonstop."

Paige made her return from over a year on medical leave last month on Raw. Besides wrestling for Impact as Alberto El Patron, Del Rio other projects include work with Telemundo, Mexico TV, Combate Americas, a clothing line and charity events.

"We were not seeing each other," Del Rio stated. "And because she was training and getting ready to go back, they were not letting her come to San Antonio. I couldn't go to Orlando because I have three little kids. I was coming home for two or three days and had to choose between going to Orlando or seeing my kids. Of course, I decided to stay with my kids."

After their relationship was made public in the early summer of 2016, they became engaged the following October. Though they ended their relationship some weeks ago, they agreed to keep it under wraps until now.

"We both agreed not to say absolutely anything because we got tired of the media, people, everyone, having an opinion about us. Including family."
As noted, a friend of Paige's uploaded a video confirming their relationship was over. Though they took it down soon after, Del Rio was questioned about it. Now that everything is out in the open, he's addressing the "incidents" involving law enforcement, specifically the one in Orlando which was rumored to involve a physical altercation between the two.

"That crap in Orlando, which is completely fake because nothing happened," Del Rio said. "I never hurt her, she never hurt me. It was just internet BS and people believing it."

Del Rio agrees that they both have strong tempers and that they are passionate in their actions and reactions. He says that he kept his silence on the issue in hopes to protect his then-future wife.

"I didn't say anything because, number one, I was already suspended. The company and their zero-tolerance thing had me thinking they were going to fire hire. And as you know, unfortunately for female wrestlers, it's impossible to exist or nearly impossible to exist outside of WWE."

"We had an amazing relationship," he continued. "We decided to do this because it was the best for our careers and for my kids."

The two have gone their separate ways and Del Rio claims that they ended on good terms.

"She wants the best for me. I want the best for her. I know she's going to be the most successful Diva in history."

Ken Anderson On What Frustrates Him With WWE, Paul Heyman Helping Him During His TNA Run, Bischoff

Recently on The Steve Austin Show, 'Global Icon & National Treasure' Steve Austin spoke with Ken Anderson, formerly WWE's Mr. Kennedy, on a number of professional wrestling topics including his thoughts on the current WWE product, the main difference between working for WWE and Impact Wrestling, and the importance of learning the basics for new pro wrestlers.

According to Anderson, he is frustrated by WWE's apparent reluctance to offer great creative freedom to its performers. Requiring WWE Superstars to strictly stick to the script has a middling affect where the talent is not permitted to succeed for fail on their own terms.

"The thing that's frustrating to me is that it seems to me that guys are told, and girls are told, exactly what to do paint-by-numbers," Anderson said. "It's not 'just go out there and try some stuff and see what works and what doesn't work' and it's just people are handed a script and told, 'say this exactly verbatim.' That's what's frustrating to me. I wish more people were given the opportunity to fail on their own or succeed on their own. That's the only thing that really frustrates me."

When asked what was the major difference between working for WWE and Impact Wrestling, the former TNA, Anderson divulged that WWE was a much more tense environment than Impact.

"When I was at the WWE, it felt like, at least towards the end, that everybody was walking around on eggshells. Everybody was worried that 'tomorrow might be my last day if I say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing, I'm going to get fired.' When I got to TNA… And I think that's the sort of management style of WWE. It's the way they always wanted everybody to be sort of on edge. When I got to TNA, it felt like, 'go out there and do your job and do it to the best of your ability.' Cool. There weren't any politics or anything like that in TNA and the biggest thing, the biggest difference, for me was Eric Bischoff was a big part of me coming to TNA. Like, and when I got there, he said, 'I know that they're sort of hamstringing you, to a degree, in WWE and telling you, 'this is what you have to say - this is when you say it,' he said, 'I'm just going to give you bulletpoints. I don't care how you get there, just here's this main point we want to get to. You just figure out how Ken Anderson is going to get us there.'"

Notably, Anderson shared that he would call ECW maestro Paul Heyman for advice during 'The Head Asshole In Charge''s Impact run and Heyman wrote a lot of Anderson's material.

"The interesting thing was Vince Russo and whoever else was writing at the time, would hand me a script and a lot of the times, I would call Paul Heyman," Anderson revealed. "I was really good friends with Paul and I would say, 'here's what they got for me, here's what I'm thinking, what do you think?' and a lot of times, he would really help me out and come up with a better way to say everything and do it, so Paul actually wrote a lot of my stuff at TNA when I first started."

As previously noted, Anderson and Shawn Daivari run The Academy: School For Professional Wrestling and have Shawn's brother, Ariya, as a trainer. Ariya, aka WWE 205 Live's Dinero Daivari, told Anderson that 205 Live roster does impressive aerial maneuvers, but get critiqued for their in-between work by WWE brass.

"You might be able to execute this pretty, beautiful move, but it's the in-between stuff that looks like crap. That's actually, Ariya Daivari is in WWE right now and he told us the guys on 205 Live do all the pretty stuff, but their in-between sucks sometimes and when they get back through the curtain, that's what they're hearing. They're not hearing, 'oh, that move you did was fantastic.' They're hearing, 'man, your rear chinlock sucked,' 'your punches suck,' 'your forearms suck.'"

How does "Creative not have anything for them'?' It sure makes a Creative team look bad when that excuse is used.

For those who have asked where 205 Live's Gran Metallik and TJP have disappeared to, we are told neither is injured but it's a case of WWE not having anything for them at the moment.  Rather then spend money to fly them around the country to hang around backstage, they are being kept at home until creative works them back into the mix.

FIRST ARO LUCHA TV TAPING THIS SUNDAY IN NASHVILLE WITH REY MYSTERIO & MORE,

Aro Lucha, the new promotion from former Impact Wrestling minority owner and production company Aroluxe, will hold a pilot TV taping this Sunday 12/10 at 5:30 PM Central time in Nashville, TN at the Nashville Fairgrounds (aka the former TNA Asylum) with former WWE World champion Rey Mysterio headlining an event featuring a mix of former WWE and lucha libre talents.  Tickets for the taping begin at $21.83 for general admission.

As previously reported by many wrestling news sources, Aroluxe had been funding Impact tapings in exchange for a percentage of ownership in the company and as many news sources reported in 2016, the company was in a position to claim ownership over Impact had Dixie Carter not maintained regular payments reimbursing Aroluxe.  As it turned out, Anthem Media would come in as an investor and eventually purchase Impact from Carter's company Impact Ventures LLC.  That left Aroluxe out in the cold as they were not retained as Impact's production company.

Scheduled for the taping:

*Rey Mysterio & Pentagon vs Rush & John Hennigan.
*Jack Evans & Shane Helms & Maximo vs. Garza Jr & La Mascara & Daga
*MVP vs. Sammy Guevara
*Keyra & Lacey Lane vs. Vanilla Vargas & Taya
*Demus vs. Mascarita Dorada
*William McClinton (aka Willie Mack) vs. Mr. 450

Konnan has been announced as the lead writer for the project, which will be headed by Jason Brown and Ron and Don Harris of Aroluxe.  Bob Rosen, who heads Impact's ring crew, is working in a similar role for Aroluxe with these tapings.

The Twitter account for Aro Lucha promises, "High-energy Lucha Libre for the entire Authentic family.  Authentic stars, characters & stories. Live events & digital content. Lucha for the fans by the fans."

D'Amore was ALREADY the Senior booker, DUH! SCOTT D'AMORE, DON CALLIS HIRED AS SENIOR EXECUTIVE TEAM FOR IMPACT WRESTLING

Impact Wrestling issued the following press release moments ago, announcing that Scott D'Amore and Don Callis have been hired as Executive Vice Presidents of the company. D'Amore has been working closely with Ed Nordholm in recent months and has effectively filled the position that Jeff Jarrett previously held.

it was  first broke that Callis would be coming to work for Impact Wrestling.  Initially, the plan had been for him to start in November but his contract had not been completed.  Interesting to note that today's press release states that he will retain his position as announcer for New Japan Pro Wrestling.  New Japan had been planning for Callis' departure and had several possible replacements in mind, so it will be interesting to see if Callis actually does remain, long term.

The official announcement reads:

IMPACT Wrestling Hires Senior Executive Team

TORONTO – Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions LLC, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp.and parent company of IMPACT Wrestling, announced today that Don Callis and Scott D’Amore have joined the company as Executive Vice Presidents. Reporting to Ed Nordholm, President of the Company, they will form a 3-member Executive Committee with overall responsibility for developing the creative direction for the Company and managing the execution of the Company’s business plan.

Don Callis has built a critically acclaimed 15-year career in the wrestling business as a performer, color commentator and writer for WWF, ECW and TNA. After retiring from wrestling in 2004, he obtained an MBA and established another successful career in international business. Callis recently returned to the world he loves and is now the color commentator for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (a role that he will retain) and co-hosts the hit podcast “Killing the Town” on The Jericho Network.

Scott D'Amore has held just about every position in the wrestling industry, including performer, trainer, promoter, writer and producer. D’Amore is an IMPACT Wrestling original, having been with the company from its early days in the Asylum until his departure in 2010. In his time away from the organization, D’Amore applied his entrepreneurial spirit to transform The D'Amore Group from a family-run construction company into a multi-faceted real estate development company. He has kept his hand in the industry, running Border City Wrestling in Windsor in collaboration with the Entertainment Technology program at St. Clair College. He also owns and operates Can-Am Wrestling, a successful professional wrestling training facility that has produced numerous top talents in the wrestling industry today.

”I am excited that Don and Scott have made this commitment to the Company,” said Ed Nordholm, president of Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions, LLC. “The 50 years of experience and success in the wrestling industry brought by Don and Scott, combined with the global media, marketing, sales and financial expertise of Anthem, provide the management depth and expertise that will propel IMPACT Wrestling to greater success as we continue to expand our footprint, embrace digital opportunities and grow the brand

News On A Top Impact Star Asking For Their Release (Spoiler On Thursday's Impact Included

As I posted here, Squared Circle Sirens that Laurel Van Ness had reportedly requested her release from Impact. Van Ness was still under contract as of Friday morning but it was believed that officials would be granting the release soon.

The former WWE Tough Enough competitor, who dates Zack Ryder, will win the Knockouts title on the Impact Wrestling episode that airs this coming Thursday night.

Various sources reported that Van Ness requested her release on the same night that she won the title at the recent set of TV tapings. Van Ness agreed that she should have told them about wanting to leave earlier in the tapings, before they gave her the title. It's likely that the company wants her to drop the title before granting the release. It's believed the release will be granted once she drops the title.

EVOLVE VS. FLO UPDATE, FITE TV CARRYING EVOLVE iPPVS THIS WEEKEND AND MORE

Although this was expected as soon as Flosports filed their amended lawsuit against WWNLive, WWN's attempts to have the lawsuit thrown out were rejected by the court on 11/30.  They will be able to argue their points again, once they specifically respond to the amended version of the suit.  WWN is expected to file a counter-suit.

Interesting to note that despite being shut down, the Floslam website has not been updated to reflect that the service is done.  In a podcast he recorded after being let go by the service, writer Brent Brookhouse admitted that he had tried in vain to get management to drop the price point of the service and attempted to find other promotions for the service to work with after they cut ties with WWNLive, but management would never sign off on anything.  Brookhouse admitted that after the WWN lawsuit was filed by Flosports, there was nothing, from a fan's perspective, that he would have wanted to subscribe to the service for, gave management options to fix things and basically was hired to do one job and trapped doing another.

In a story that completely infuriated some people listening to the podcast, Brookhouse stated that he was preparing to drive three hours to EVOLVE's events to cover them for the service when he began getting messages from fans asking about the lawsuit Flosports had filed days before - so the service didn't even inform their point person in charge of creating content for the service about the lawsuit before it broke publicly.  That basically meant Flosports would have been putting Brookhouse into a position to drive three hours and then walk into a show where he would have been seen as the "enemy" from the company that was now suing WWNLive, without any knowledge of the situation.  In the end, Brookhouse was told not to attend the shows (as Flosports decided to pull EVOLVE's live streams hours before they went on the air) but the fact that no one thought to inform him privately is WCW-level ridiculousness.

What really  angered some people, was hearing Brookhouse recount that he learned the platform was shut down when people began contacting after hearing the reports via Twitter.  So, the guy (who has one young child and another baby on the way) found out he was fired from a job that sought him out from social media, well before he was able to actually get someone from the actual company to give him the respect of telling him what was going on.    Actually, that sounds worse than even the worst WCW stupidity, but what should I expect from a company that responded to an email from me asking what they intended to do to replace WWNLive content so people didn't cancel their subs by actually CANCELING MY SUBSCRIPTION instead of responding to the question.

Gabe Sapolsky has continued to work backstage at WWE NXT TV tapings, so if anyone expected that lawsuit to have a ripple effect on WWN's relationship with WWE, that has not happened.

WWN's EVOLVE promotion has a pair of events this weekend, both of which will air on The Fite App, which you can download for free for your cell phone or mobile device by clicking here.    Fite can be streamed from your phone to Samsung Smart TVs and recently debuted a Roku channel as well. The app is HIGHLY recommended by yours truly and is free to download as well with tons of weekly free programming, including ROH's weekly TV series, Booker T's Reality of Wrestling and more.

EVOLVE returns to Queens, NY this Friday 12/9 with WWNLive champion Keith Lee defending against WALTER, Matt Riddle vs. Fred Yehi in a bout where they can be no rope breaks, EVOLVE Tag Team champions Jaka & Tracy Williams vs. James Drake & Anthony Henry, EVOLVE champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. DJZ, Darby Allin vs. Austin Theory, AR Fox vs. Jason Kincaid, plus Jarek 1:20, Shane Mercer, Stephen Wolf, Joey Lynch.  William Regal will be signing at the event as he's in town to do a seminar the day before for the company.

Sunday's 12/10 Melrose, MA event will feature EVOLVE champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Jaka, Matt Riddle vs. WALTER, WWN Champion Keith Lee vs. Tracy Williams with Stokely Hathaway vs. Darby Allin in a non-title bout, FIP champion Fred Yehi vs. Austin Theory, AR Fox vs. DJ Z,  Jason Kincaid vs. Jarek 1:20 plus James Drake, Anthony Henry, Shane Mercer, Stephen Wolf and Brandon Watts (who is awesome) appearing.  The idea is that Watts is getting a tryout match, which I am actually offended hearing, even if it's a storyline as that guy is an asset to any promoter smart enough to book him.

Daisuke Sekimoto will be coming in from Japan to work for the WWNLive umbrella events in New Orleans.  He's pretty awesome.

KONNAN GONE FROM CRASH LUCHA LIBRE

The Tijuana, Mexico-based Crash Lucha Libre promotion announced today that Konnan, who had been working as a booker and head of creative for the company, was gone from the company.

We are told that Konnan was let go this past Thursday following a locker room meeting and the decision to announce it today was to not distract from the promotion's events over this past weekend in Mexico.  Konnan had joined the promotion after he and AAA fell out of favor, sparking a lot of talent to move to Crash and leading the promotion to running more events outside of Tijuana on a regular basis.

The promotion issued the following statement to PWInsider.com this morning after we requested comment in an attempt to confirm the story:

The Crash Lucha Libre brand is known for the way we treat people and value each and every single person that works in this company. Bettering the economical and habitual needs. Showing the support for each element and giving opportunity to new talent.

In this way, the value and professionalism shown between each of its partners.

Not being able to comply to the Crash Lucha Libre code of ethic, is something that we do not tolerate in this company.

With that being said, We not announce that Carlos Santiago Espada "Konnan", will no longer be working with The Crash.

We thank him for the time and support and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

We will be announcing the dates for 2018 with the best matches and our debut in the United States.

We are told a Spanish-language version of the statement was issued to media in Mexico this morning as well.

Politically, it should be interesting to see what this means for Crash Lucha Libre's working relationship with Impact Wrestling, especially since Konnan is a regular for Impact as part of the LAX faction.

Konnan was recently announced as the head writer for the Aro Lucha promotion out of Nashville, TN, a position we are told Impact Wrestling has given him permission to pursue.  One would have expected that Konnan would have been the conduit to bring Crash talents in for that group, which is taping a TV pilot this Sunday 12/10 in Nashville, TN.    Whether this exit changes that remains to be seen as well.

Crash Lucha Libre is slated to run New Orleans over Wrestlemania 34 weekend in April 2018 as part of Wrestlecon.  It should be interesting to see how much of their plans going forward change with Konnan's dismissal.

Konnan has not, as of yet, commented on his departure and was retweeting fans' comments about Crash's weekend events as if he was still associated with the company
