Jay Lethal On Beating Samoa Joe's ROH World Title Record, Why He Prefers Working With ROH

Jay Lethal recently spoke with Sporting News about beating Samoa Joe's Ring of Honor record of 645 combined days as ROH World Champion. Lethal also discussed his love for Ring of Honor as a promotion, the company's need to rebuild after losing big stars like Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, and the G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden on April 6.

Beating Samoa Joe's record for the most combined days as ROH World Champion:

"When I was pulled aside and they said, 'You know, you're about to beat Joe's record of holding the belt for a certain amount of time.' I said, 'No way! That's insane!' I remember being in Ring of Honor when Joe was champion and I was his protege, and I would come to the ring holding his towel. I didn't think anyone would ever beat his record."

Why he loves Ring of Honor:

"Here's the thing that made me fall in love with them. Even when I was just that kid that didn't feel like I belonged, my skill level was nowhere near a CM Punk or Austin Aries or Alex Shelley at the time, but yet I was still wrestling with those guys. Even then, this company has always gone above and beyond for me. This company has always taken great care of me. I've never had a reason to even dream about wanting to go somewhere else. I love this place."

ROH always rebuilding and the winning formula for the company:

"I feel that Ring of Honor has always been in the rebuilding phase. Ring of Honor in all the time I've known it, it's never been fully settled. It's always in this rebuilding phase because other rosters out there constantly pluck from the Ring of Honor roster to make their roster better. Look at all of the companies out there and their champions. Most of them came through and from Ring of Honor.

"I think the winning formula is: you don't try and replace those guys. How do you replace The Young Bucks? How do you replace a Cody Rhodes or an AJ Styles? That hole in your tapestry is going to be there, but you have to have sense enough to know that hole leaves some character. That hole has done some great work and you don't try to cover that up. It just adds character."

Walking in and out of Madison Square Garden as the Champ at G1 Supercard:

"To me, it's all about walking in as the champion. If I don't leave as the champion, that wouldn't be too heartbreaking for me. But going in as the champion, they could never take anything away from me after that. If I can hold onto this belt — we do have one more pay-per-view in March, I have to get through that first. If I can walk into Madison Square Garden as the champion, that's what I would really like. Winning the big one in Madison Square Garden, that would be cool, but to me, being the first Ring of Honor champion walking into Madison Square Garden and defending the belt, that's the coolest part to me."

WWE HALL OF FAMER TAMMY SYTCH ARRESTED

WWE Hall of Famer Tammy "Sunny" Sytch was arrested yesterday in New Jersey and is currently incarcerated in Monmouth County Corrections in Freehold, New Jersey.  

At the time same, It was announced that a bench warrant was issued for Sytch in the State of Pennsylvania on 2/15.  That same day, the Carbon County Probation Department filed a motion to revoke Sytch's October 2018 parole.  Court records indicate that Sytch made payments of $120 in the months of October and November 2018 as part of a payment plan to reimburse the State of Pennsylvania for their costs in her legal cases but has not made any additional payments since that time.

Sytch was extradited back to Carbon County in March 2018 from the same Monmouth County Correctional Facility she is currently jailed in.   Sytch had been arrested in New Jersey last year for failing to appear in court for two DUI arrests.  

 While Sytch was being processed for multiple charges of Contempt - Disobedience/resistance in New Jersey, authorities learned that she was technically a fugitive from justice because a motion had been filed in August 2017 in PA requesting her February 2017 parole from the Carbon County in Pennsylvania be revoked.  A bench warrant for Sytch's arrest was issued to bring her in for a hearing over the issue, but since Sytch was not living in PA at the time, she could not be located to be served or taken into custody.  New Jersey authorities held her until PA authorities were able to come and extradite her.   It was never clear whether Sytch's legal issues in New Jersey have been resolved.

Sytch's original Pennsylvania DUI charges in 2015 were a result of three separate incidents over that summer.

Sytch has been through several personal and legal issues over the last decade, including a period in 2012 and 2013 where she was arrested arrested five times over the span of a month after, on three separate occasions, she violated an order of protection taken out by a former boyfriend in Connecticut.   Sytch was also charged with disorderly conduct, third degree burglary, and three counts of violating a protective order.   In that case, Sytch served 114 days in jail before being released, at which point she moved to PA.

After her parole last year, Sytch announced she would be embarking on a farewell tour on the independent wrestling scene, writing, "I'm pleased to announced that I am taking bookings for my "Comeback/Farewell Tour 2018-19"...I am taking bookings for personal appearances, autograph signings, wrestling shows and party appearances for what will by my FINAL 9-12 months of appearances before I call it a wrap!   I am returning to school and leading life after next year as a 'normal' member of society with a private personal life.   28 years in this crazy business has been long enough!"

What Led To Recent Releases In WWE

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer went into detail about what has transpired backstage over the past couple of weeks as these releases have been taking place.

In the case of Anderson, he was reportedly fired from the company after continued conflicts with Vince McMahon. Details are scarce but something transpired at a WWE house show that evidently wasn't handled to Vince's liking. Anderson took full blame for the incident and was ultimately terminated from his role as a backstage producer.

Arn and Vince were said to not be on the best of terms prior to Anderson's release. There were numerous situations over recent years where the two apparently weren't seeing eye to eye on the different happenings within the company. Nevertheless, Arn is liked by key individuals backstage, including Triple H and John Cena. Some believe had Cena been around in a more prominent WWE role like before, perhaps it wouldn't have escalated to the point where Anderson was released. Cena's fondness for Anderson is shared with many other superstars that have competed in WWE over the years.

Meltzer added that he sometimes caught wind of performers speaking out about what they believed was a poorly made creative decision, and Anderson would actually support the talent's objection, possibly causing conflict.

He also mentioned that some people feel like Anderson may flourish as a producer over in AEW. From the side of AEW, there have only been positive things said about Anderson's work, and Arn is reportedly not too broken up about being let go from WWE.

Overall, WWE is making it a point not to fire anyone, so it apparently surprised a lot of people backstage when Anderson and TJP were let go from the company. TJP's release in particular is said to be for disciplinary reasons, and WWE felt like parting ways with TJP is something that was needed to be done. A lack of creative ideas for TJP wasn't a deciding factor in his departure because even the WWE superstars that haven't been given much creative material as of late are being held to their contractual obligations.

The obvious exceptions come in the form of Tye Dillinger and Hideo Itami, who were also confirmed as being released from WWE earlier this week. We noted back in late January that Itami had asked for his release from WWE as a result of his frustration with how he was being used in the company.

We also noted on Tuesday night that Dillinger took to Twitter after the SmackDown tapings in New Orleans to reveal that he had requested his release from the company. You can see his statement to fans from Tuesday below:

"Before rumors begin to spread, let me set things straight ahead of time: This evening, I requested my release from WWE.

"In the past 5 and a half years with them, I have seen and done some wonderful things. Things that I am very proud of and will never forget. I have met and worked with unquestionably, some of the greatest talent on this earth and the pleasure has been all mine. I feel at this time this decision, as extremely difficult as it was, is what is best for myself and WWE. I wish to continue to grow as a performer and offer those paying hard earned money to watch a show I'm performing on, a little more of myself. To the male and female locker rooms, coaches and producers, to the production/ring crew, all the way up to the very top of WWE and most of all the fans...I wish you all the very best and thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything."

Along with the releases, Bruce Prichard, Steve Corino, "Hurricane" Shane Helms, Sonjay Dutt, Shawn Daivari, Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer "Abyss" Chris Parks and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett have all started as backstage producers for the company.

ROH's Kelly Klein On If She Would Sign With AEW Or WWE, Which WWE Star She Would Like To Team With

World Wrestling Entertainment is going back to the past to help forge their future.

Bruce Prichard is returning full-time to the company to work in a top position on the creative team and will start back at WWE TV this Monday in Atlanta, GA. Prichard’s position was described  as being “as important as possible” in creative and he be one of the top point people in the creative team going forward. Prichard, 55 years old, was best known on camera as Brother Love but worked behind the scenes for a number of years as a producer and worked directly with Vince McMahon as one of his top lieutenants.  We are told that Prichard’s new role will be very similar to his former position in that he will be working directly with McMahon on all things creative.

Prichard left WWE in 2008 and has since become the host of one of the most popular pro wrestling podcasts Something to Wrestle With, where Prichard and co-host Conrad Thompson do deep dives into events and personalities from WWE’s history.  The podcast has become so popular that a version of it was brought to the WWE Network for a series of episodes with a second season planned for later this year.  There is no word what this hiring means for the future of the podcast itself.

Prichard originally broke into the business under the legendary Paul Boesch and worked for Impact Wrestling after exiting WWE in 2008.  He has made cameos at Brother Love on WWE programming in recent years.

Chris Jericho Says NJPW Management Might Not Understand His Value

Chris Jericho recently spoke with Wrestling Observer Radio about navigating the waters of NJPW, WWE and Impact Wrestling before he ultimately chose to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

Jericho retains the desire to work with New Japan Pro Wrestling, especially considering the number of potentially entertaining matches that could happen if he stayed with the promotion in some fashion. He chalks up their separation to NJPW management possibly not realizing how valuable a draw Omega and Jericho are.

"I want to work with New Japan," Jericho admitted. "I think there's a lot of matches there that we could do: Okada, Tanahashi, Suzuki and Jericho I think we could sell out a small arena with that. "I don't know though, man. It's very strange what's going on because I understand both sides. I also don't think that maybe the new management quite understands the value of Omega and Jericho being involved there, and all the other guys on the roster. When I look at Ring of Honor, yeah, [it's a] great company, but who do they have on their roster that can do more business for them as a foreign guy coming in than Omega and Jericho could?"

Jericho wants it to be known that his mind remains open to working with NJPW, but for the time being, there remains nothing new on the horizon with the company.

"I don't know if it's a smart business move for [NJPW] not to use us, especially when we want to do it," Jericho said. "It's not cheap to work there but I think the business dividends are way more than what the money that they're spending on it is. I can't speak for them, I just know there hasn't been much talk lately after a lot of talk. They know where to find me and my door is open, and I'm interested and want to do it, but as far as anything further with them, I can't say there's anything on the horizon right now."

Jericho is next set to wrestle Omega at Double Or Nothing, which takes place on Saturday, May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ARN ANDERSON AND THREE OTHERS GONE FROM WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson has departed World Wrestling Entertainment.  ProWrestlingSheet.com initially reported the departure.  .  

Anderson was not at the TV tapings this past week and those who asked were told he was off this week.

Anderson had been behind the scenes as a Producer for the company, which has brought in a number of new Producers over the last month, seeking to bring a younger, fresher vibe to their in-ring content.   The departure of Anderson has led to discussion within the company about whether some of the other "old guard" producers may also be on the way out.

Anderson, 60, was a founding member of the original Four Horsemen, first breaking into the business in the early 1980s.  His tag team with Tully Blanchard held both the NWA and WWF Tag Team Championship during their run in the late '80s.  Anderson returned to WCW in late 1989, spending the rest of his in-ring career there, where he was consistently one of the best in-ring performers and talkers in the company. Neck and back issues required surgery and Anderson began training to return to the ring.  While in the gym, someone came up behind him and patted him on the back while saying hello and Anderson lost all feeling in his hand.  Realizing what that meant if he was going to try and resume performing in the ring, Anderson opted to announce his surgery.

When WCW was purchased by WWE in March 2001 at the end of the Monday Night War, Anderson was brought back to the company.  Initially cast as an announcer for the WWE version of WCW, that idea was soon scuttled and Anderson slid into a behind the scenes role as a Producer, making cameo appearances across WWE programming.

WWE has also announced the releases of TJP (TJ Perkins) and Hideo Itami.

Earlier today they announced the release of Tye Dillinger as well.

Dave Scherer Of PWInsider Gets Checked, Again. Makes Threats & Then Backs Down, Again

It appears that the story I wrote earlier today about PWInsider's Paul Jordan and his lack of doing research when it comes to reporting about WWE's “Hidden Gems” that are already on YouTube hit a nerve with the very owners of PWInsider (Imagine that, LOL!).

Be it as it may, a regular reader of this blog sent a link to this story right over to Dave Scherer who owns PWInsider. I knew he was going to do it and I encouraged him TO do it. I have nothing to be scared of and I told Jermy (who sent it to them) that they'll probably respond looking like total dumb fucks. WWEELLL? Guess what, I was right. They did exactly what I said they would do. They have a long habit of being as predictable as a rerun in how and what they'll say and do, and this was no different.

So since I knew he'd come back looking like an absolute moron I asked Jermy to send me a screen shot of the original email he sent to him and the first reply. Reason being as I knew, from the last time this happened that Scherer (not learning from the last time he did this and wound up looking like a complete idiot for it) would ASSume Jermy was me. Scherer always seems to have the guts to confront others who aren't me, claim they are me but when it comes to directly be in contact WITH ME? He won't do it because of the time I checked his ass publicly on Twitter and he quickly blocked me (Proof of that, will be posted later in this article). DETROIT'S COBO CENTER CHANGING NAMES

Detroit, Michigan’s Cobo Center will have a name change this year.

Chemical Bank has bought the naming rights for the Center and the new name is expected to be TCF Center after a pending bank merger.  The original Cobo Center name comes from politician Albert Cobo who served as mayor from 1950 to 1957 with a reputation of racist and discriminatory policies.

The Cobo venues have had a rich history of hosting various pro wrestling events over several decades from Detroit’s Big Time Wrestling territory, to WCW and the WWF, and most recently the Detroit area indie group XICW.

First, here's the announcement from PWInsider's Paul Jordan (who seems to lack what 'do research' means when it comes to these things (because I make him look stupid at least once a month when he makes these posts without doing any research behind it. Proving he's a lazy ass and a fucking moron if a guy like me can make him look very stupid, very easily).

Uh oh, uuhhh oohhh, UUUHHHH OOOOOHHHH! Lookie lookie, not one, not two, but THREE different people have the match. It's so 'hidden' it's been right here available on YouTube for TWELVE FUCKING YEARS! AAHH yep, sure looks hidden to me, LMAO!

Yeah, research would be PWInsider's friend but since they seem to insist that research is 'beneath them', I'll continue to make sites like that look stupid. Doesn't take alot of effort really when you see the obvious like I do.
