Christopher Daniels Talks The Elite Leaving ROH, His Own Ring Of Honor Future, PCO Signing With ROH
Christopher Daniels spoke with Wrestling Epicenter about The Elite leaving ROH, his future with the company, and PCO signing with Ring of Honor. Here are some of the highlights:
The Elite leaving Ring of Honor and how it will impact the company:
"I think immediately it would have an effect, but honestly, I think that is just how professional wrestling goes. If the Elite feel that Ring of Honor isn't the place for them anymore, then there will be spots that become open that will be filled by other wrestlers tapping in to their potential. That is just how it is. People leave professional wrestling companies and other wrestlers fill those spots and find success. Ring of Honor has had wrestlers leave in the past and has survived and thrived. So, I don't see anything different happening if the Elite decide to leave."
His future with Ring of Honor:
"I've never really had these kind of stakes in Ring of Honor before. The situation, right now, is [ROH COO] Joe Koff said earlier in the year that he wasn't going to renew my contract. I've been trying to find reasons for him to change his mind and he hasn't yet. Now, we've come to a point where Marty [Scurll] has decided to put his number one [contender spot] that he won at Survival of the Fittest. So, if I win this match, I'll have a defacto extension until I wrestle for the world title. The situation now is, it is win or go home for me. That is a pretty big hurdle. And, of course, Marty Scurll is one of the top wrestlers in the world. It is a big challenge. I'm really looking forward to it. I think I have Marty's number. No matter what happens, I'm going to do what I do best which is wrestle and we'll see how it goes."
ROH signing PCO:
"I think it is great that PCO has reinvigorated himself and reinvented his career. I don't know what he was doing the years prior to bursting on the independent scene and making a splash like he did. It is a great acquisition for ROH to have. I think the eyes of the wrestling world were sort of on PCO. For him to come to Ring of Honor now is a statement that Ring of Honor is trying to get a hold of the best talent in the world to raise the game in Ring of Honor overall."

Mat Memory- New Jack Incident - Original Gangsta Surprised American Gangstas about Gimmick Infringement
The American Gangstas (Eddie and Jay "Spit" Brock) just wrestled a match at All Star Wrestling when New Jack came in from his car. I was doing commentary and New Jack came and sat in front of me. He had a table set up for selling DVDs, pictures, and autographs. New Jack heard me calling Spit and Eddie the Gangstas, and he was livid that somebody else was usign his gimmick. New Jack then walked into the ring and confronted Eddie and Spit.
The American Gangstas had no idea what was going on, and they had no idea if New Jack's words were a work or a shoot. Wrestlers from the locker room watched closely, as did the owner James Legend as New Jack compared what he is going to do to the American Gangstas with what he did to Vic Grimes and Mass Transit. This is a very compelling video because nobody knows (but New Jack) just how pissed he was at the American Gangstas.
Most people presume that the match (if it actually takes place) between New Jack and the American Gangstas is going to be insane.

Big Cass Suffers A Seizure At Tonight's House Of Hardcore Event
Big Cass was supposed to appear on the second half of tonight's House of Hardcore, but during intermission the former WWE star had a seizure and fell to the floor in the lobby. House of Hardcore is taking place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
According to several sources an ambulance was called and EMTs tended to him. Tommy Dreamer also came to the ring to asked fans to say a prayer for Big Cass, he also noted Cass suffered a seizure and wanted to make a point it wasn't "drug-related." Dreamer said he was with Cass "all day."

Low Ki Explains Why WWE Is An Illogical Place For Him, Training Today's Wrestlers
MLW World Heavyweight Champion Low Ki spoke with The B Plus about his experience with WWE/NJPW and why it didn't fit his work style, training today's wrestlers, and Australian wrestler Jonah Rock. Here are some of the highlights:
"Being a part of this industry you go through ups and downs. Being a part of environments like that, they're illogical. Because no matter how good you are, there are other factors that play into decision making that had nothing to do with what you are doing. This is very discouraging for people like me who are only merit based. Everything that I've done is based on hard work and by earning respect. I've never had to undercut anybody, berate anybody or back stab anybody. I've done everything the old fashioned way which is simply hard work that doesn't rely on anybody else. With eyes on you as an individual if you want to succeed you need to shut up and get yourself to work, it doesn't mean out-hustle people."
Training today's wrestlers:
"This industry began off of 'carnies' and 'hustlers.' Some of them are still around taking advantage of people. I'm here to stop that because this is 2018, not 1980. The men and women who are getting into professional wrestling now aren't stupid. If you speak to people intelligently and give them a chance to understand that information and apply it, you'd be surprised how well they do but you have to give them that chance. There's a lot of arrogance and hierarchy coming from the older generation that is outdated because this generation and the one previously have learned differently then those before them. This means that the methods of instructing and methods of teaching are out of date.
"My goal is reestablishing that by explaining things to people from an intelligent standpoint you get more out the athletes then blind faith. Blind faith is what got people in trouble in the first place and I'm no longer vested in that because every person has the ability to think. If people have the ability to think, they have the ability to learn. If they have the ability to learn you have to give people the opportunity to show you what they've learnt. You do that you'll be surprised how well these athletes do even though you may not necessarily give them credit in the first place."
Australia's Jonah Rock, who reportedly will start with WWE in January:
"Somebody at his size being that smooth in the ring is very deceptive and reminded me similarly of Samoa Joe. Joe is a guy of that height and size who was also very deceptive with his speed and technique. Jonah isn't quite at the same caliber as Joe yet but give him a couple more years and he'll have it. He shows way too many signs of somebody who can be a huge threat moving forward."

Eli Drake On The Importance Of Impact Getting A TV Deal, Why He Re-Signed With Impact
The Impact Wrestling TV show recently made the move to late night on Pop TV and not everyone is thrilled with the new time. That has sparked debate as to if Impact should look for other options when it comes to their TV rights, including streaming options.
That topic was broached during Impact's weekly media call .Eli Drake was on the call and he thinks that using both TV and streaming may be Impact's best option.
"I think right now a hybrid is probably the best approach," Drake said of finding a balance between TV and internet streaming. "I feel like TV is kinda losing a little bit of its luster because everybody is so into streaming. I think finding a streaming partner would be great, while also having TV.
"At the end of the day, TV is still king. Will that hold over for much longer? I don't know. As far as advertisers and what not, there is money in streaming but there's also still a lot of money in TV."
Drake then brought up that some people, including his dad, either don't use streaming or have access to streaming options, so there is still a need for TV.
"I think TV is still important to reach out to different sections of the audience. But I think also moving forward, streaming and the internet are valuable and making our footprint there is necessary," stated Drake.
Drake has been with Impact since early 2015 and his contract was due to expire soon. However, he re-signed with Impact despite having so many other options entering 2019.
"I know a lot of people were tolling the death nail for me as far as my stay at Impact," said Drake. "At times I even thought I was going to move on as I had other offers.
"I did an audit of my life at the time. I enjoy where I'm living. I enjoy the money I'm making. I'm living comfortably. I was like, 'why change anything right now?'
"If I decide in the next year or so to change anything, of course I still have that option. But for now, it's 'let's step back and look at my life. Do I like it?' Yes, so I'm not going anywhere."
Justin Credible Arrested Again On Multiple Charges
Former WWE and ECW star Justin Credible has been arrested for the third time this year.
Credible was arrested on Tuesday and charged with multiple charges, including misdemeanor assault, breach of peace, criminal mischief and three charges of violating a protection order, Credible reportedly lives with his family but some of the family members in the home have protection orders against him, in case of an incident. This could be why there are multiple violations of the protection order.
The Connecticut VINE website notes that Credible is currently in custody at the New Haven Correctional Center under a $50,000 bond. Below is the mugshot provided on the website.
Credible was arrested in August and September for various domestic charges, and he spent some time incarcerated. sources say Credible has had multiple run-ins with police since he was last arrested in September.
Credible also allegedly walked away from going to rehab, which was being sponsored by WWE
MLW MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP VACANT
While this was likely the expected outcome when MJF announced he had suffered a fractured elbow several weeks back, Major League Wrestling announced this afternoon that he has been stripped of the promotion's Middleweight Championship. HIs scheduled challengers - Dezmond Xavier, Kotto Brazil, Andrew Everett and Jason Cade - will now compete in a Ladder Match to crown the new champion on Friday 12/14 in Miami, Florida.

There's a bit of an ECW reunion theme to the 12/15 Keystone Championship Wrestling event in Darby, PA at the Edward Bacon Rec Center. Konnan Rips WWE's Booking Of Bobby Lashley, Says He Would Not Watch Any Show As Bad As WWE
Konnan divulged in a recent interview w/ WrestlingInc how he was brought back to ImpactWrestling after an acrimonious split from the promotion years before. Also, Konnan shared his thoughts on WWE creative.
According to Konnan, he was supposed to be WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley's manager in Impact. 'K-Dawg' suggested that WWE pairing Lashley with Lio Rush is puzzling because 'The Dominator' can cut a promo.
"When Jeff Jarrett came back [to Impact] two years ago, he wanted me to come in originally as Bobby Lashley's mouthpiece." Konnan explained, "and I was like, 'yo, Lashley knows how to talk.' That's why now when I see him with Lio Rush, like, I really don't understand that because Lashley can cut a promo. And, to me, he should be demolishing motherf--kers and they should be prepping him up for Brock Lesnar."
On the subject of WWE storylines, Konnan claimed that the needing to fill TV time is no excuse for weak writing.
"How can anybody ever decipher WWE?," Konnan asked. "[Hausman] [has] been watching it as long as I have and I know I've been watching it longer. It's like they've done so much s--t that doesn't make sense. For every great angle that you see, there [are] 10 other ones that f--king blow your mind. And I understand that most of the viewers are kids, so they're going to have kids s--t in there, but it's one thing having things for kinds and another thing to have stuff that's just totally awful."
Konnan continued, "there's no other show that I watch on TV that if it were as bad as [WWE] wrestling I'd still be watching it. Do you know what I'm saying? And so, they just put out a lot of bad content. And I just think one of the reasons is because they've got to fill up so much time that they don't have the luxury of an MLW that has got a one-hour show and they only have one show. I don't have to tell you how many shows those motherf--kers have from the [WWE] Network to everything that they've got going on. But to me, that's still no excuse for bad storylines. Get better writers or get more writers. It's just incredible to me."
LARRY 'THE AXE' HENNIG PASSES AWAY
Larry Hennig, the former AWA World Tag Team Champion and patriarch to the Hennig wrestling family, passed away today at the age of 82.
Best known to fans today as the father of the late “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig and grandfather to current WWE star Curtis Axel (Joe Hennig), became the Minnesota State High School Heavyweight Champion from Robbinsdale, Minnesota in 1954. He was awarded a scholarship from the University of Minnesota to wrestle and play football, but eventually withdrew from the school due to family responsibilities.
Trained by Verne Gage, Hennig entered professional wrestling in the early 1960s, seeing it as a conduit to making money for his family. He held the AWA World Tag Team Championship most famously with Harley Race, who would go on to become one of the definitive NWA World Heavyweight Champions. At the time, the pair were pushed as the youngest Tag Team Champions ever. Hennig would also hold the belts, much earlier, with Duke Hoffman.
The team with Race, with the two billed as Handsome Harley and Pretty Boy Larry, presented them as young, cocky heels who could work. The two famously feuded with the Crusher and The Bruiser for the belts, winning them three times over the course of the program. Race and Hennig, at the time, were often opponents for Verne Gagne, who was, obviously, the top babyface for the promotion. Alongside Ray Stevens and Nick Bockwinkel, Race and Hennig were in the top of the mix as heels for the promotion.
``We were very different, especially when it came to the styles we used,'' Hennig told The Orlando Sentinel in 2000. ``But we clicked. We had good chemistry, and we got better with every match. At the beginning, some people questioned our teaming up, but it worked very, very well.''
The team with Race also took off internationally as well with the pair working overseas in Japan and Australia regularly. The pair became WCW World Tag Team Champions for the 1960s Australian promotion as well.
Hennig was renowned for his personal toughness. In 1967, he suffered a knee injury when he was picking up Johnny Powers for a bodyslam when in an accident, another wrestler knocked into his legs. Hennig dropped Powers and as it turned out, had severe tendon and cartilage tears. He finished the bout and refused to go to the hospital despite realizing something was truly wrong with his knee. Instead, he and Race drove hundreds of miles back to Minneapolis instead before he would go see a doctor.
Outside of the AWA, Hennig had a run in the WWWF, challenging then-champion Bruno Sammartino and challenged Jack Brisco for the NWA World title while working in Florida. He toured New Japan in 1976, teaming with Pat Patterson.
After the team with Race ran its course and Race went on to singles acclaim elsewhere, Hennig teamed with Lars Anderson in the AWA before hitting the road and working other territories. In Championship Wrestling from Florida, he teamed with a heel Dusty Rhodes, who was just starting out in his career.
Hennig would later return to the AWA, this time as a babyface, billed as “The Axe” doing an angle where he rescued Jim Brunzell and Greg Gagne during a TV taping from Bobby Heenan’s team of Bockwinkel and Stevens.
Now entrenched as a babyface, Hennig would also team quite a bit with his son Curt, the future AWA World Champion now immortalized as “Mr. Perfect” for his run in WWE. The pair worked for Don Owen in the Pacific Northwest, winning that territory’s tag team title and even have a short feud with The Road Warriors in the AWA.
After officially retiring in 1985, Hennig owned a real estate company in Minnesota as he had been working in that world since the late 1950s and for years, for well known locally in Minneapolis as an auctioneer.
Hennig had been honored by every professional wrestling Hall of Fame imaginable, given the Cauliflower Alley Club’s Iron Mike Mazurki Award in 2015, having been inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2006 and given its Lou Thesz Award in 2013, and having been inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2017 for his tag team with Race. The Robbinsdale Historical Society inducted Hennig into their first annual Minnesota Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015:
As noted, Henning’s grandson Joe has worked for WWE for years as Curtis Axel. His granddaughter Amy also performed on the independent scene in the Mid-West for a time.
Hennig had still been making appearances at conventions and events in recent years. He was signing last year at Wrestlecon in New Orleans and was on my first flight back, sitting in the first row, a row ahead of me, with his wife. As every wrestling fan got on the plane, they all said hello to Hennig and with Hennig needing a wheelchair to exit the plane, he was one of the last off, so every fan on the place said goodbye to him as they exited.

Young Bucks sign new figure deal
Matt Jackson tweeted yesterday that the Young Bucks have signed a deal with an old company making a return. He showed a picture of the corner of a box with the LJN logo. LJN used to make hard plastic WWE figures that were extremely popular in the 1980s. The side of the box indicates the figures can be manipulated.

Chris Jericho On Recent Meeting With Impact, Rumors Of All Elite Wrestling, Being Done With The List
Chris Jericho is enjoying life as a wrestling free agent with the ability to go anywhere he wants to. Just this year he's wrestled for both WWE and New Japan and Y2J also recently completed his Chris Jericho cruise that featured wrestlers from many different promotions.
Jericho has done all of this while also being an active presence in his rock band, Fozzy. Jericho spoke with Drew Dalby where he revealed what he has planned for the immediate future in terms of wrestling appearances.
"I have to go to Japan to do one more match for New Japan Pro Wrestling," stated Jericho. "I have a couple of movie shoots that I'm doing. But other than that, I'm pretty wide open for the next 3 or 4 months, by design…
"Will I go back to wrestling? I have no plans of really doing anything, but that's all stuff I'm going to have to think about."
Dalby mentioned that Jericho has all of these options in front of him from New Japan to WWE to Impact to the potential new promotion with Jacksonville Jaguars' owner, Tony Khan. While Jericho wouldn't say what his next steps will be, he did say he won't do one thing in WWE.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do," Jericho admitted. "There's nothing set in stone. I've spoken to people in all of those organizations that you've mentioned.
"Impact, I had a great conversation with them the other day in Toronto and there's some great matches I could have there... There's a lot of matches in Japan that I would still like to have. Is Tony Khan opening his own company? I've heard nothing that says he's not, and of course, WWE is WWE and I have a 20-year history there. I could walk in the door tomorrow and know exactly what to do to get a reaction.
Being in Jericho's position is something most wrestlers would be envious of because of the options he has. Jericho says that many of those opportunities are also available to others and that's the best part of the wrestling business right now.
"The most exciting thing to me is that there's a lot of places guys can go to work. There's a lot of guys making big money outside of the WWE system because it wasn't like that for 20 years," said Jericho.
"So it's exciting for me to know there's options. I can go anywhere and not have to worry about anything. The fact that we did the cruise with six guys (Alpha Club vs. Bullet Club), none of us under contract and able to sell out a cruise with it. It really makes all of us top contenders as to 'who's going to go where?'
"That's exciting for me. I like giving the power back to the guys in a way."
Dynamite Kid Passes Away
World Wrestling Entertainment announced this morning that former WWF Tag Team Champion Tommy Billington, known professionally as The Dynamite Kid, has passed away at the age of 60 years old. Billington was in many ways the originator of the type of smash-mouth, physical style that exemplified the best in "workrate" inside the professional wrestling ring but also became a massive cautionary tale for the excess of the business as well as the physical destruction that it can bring to those who perform within the ring.
There will be a lot written about Billington, good and bad, in the coming hours and days and a good deal of it will be true. He was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, period, from a performance standpoint. He had one of the best wrestling autobiographies. He inspired countless others in the generations that followed him. He broke down walls. He was a notorious practical joker and bully. He went from being one of the scariest (behind the scenes) and mightiest in the ring to a massive recluse, the money made from his body of work long gone, his body left in a terrible physical state.
Tom Billington exemplified the greatness that is professional wrestling as well as the excess of the business. Much like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde being the allegory for the darkness that lurks within all men, Billington represented the duality of professional wrestling - that strive for greatness when the spotlights shine down upon the performer in the squared circle and the darkness that can lurk beneath that shining veneer.
Dynamite Kid was the right nickname for him, because like an stick of dynamite, he shocked the system with his explosive performances and forced everyone to take notice. When that explosion had passed, however, whatever remnants left behind were never going to be put back together. There was no going back once the fuse had been lit.
Good and bad, Dynamite Kid was professional wrestling.
WWE issued the following statement:
WWE is saddened to learn that Thomas Billington, known to his fans as Dynamite Kid, has passed away at age 60.
Born in Golborne, Lancashire, England, Billington pursued sports-entertainment as a means to avoid a life as a coal miner. Although somewhat undersized, he possessed a ferocity and determination that earned him the nickname The Dynamite Kid.
As a singles competitor, he made his mark in WWE Hall of Famer Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, developing a style that was both technically brilliant and wildly aggressive. It was in Japan, however, where Dynamite Kid set a new standard for junior heavyweight competition in a legendary series of matches against Tiger Mask, which would influence an entire generation of competitors, and help set the stage for brands like WWE’s 205 Live.
Dynamite Kid joined WWE in 1984 with his cousin, Davey Boy Smith, forming one of the most popular tag teams of their era, The British Bulldogs. Alongside their mascot, an English bulldog named Matilda, the duo battled it out in classic matches against Bret "Hit Man" Hart & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart of The Hart Foundation, and defeated Greg "The Hammer" Valentine & Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake to win the World Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania II.
WWE extends its condolences to Billington’s family, friends and fans.
