ATTENDANCE: 1,000+
I attended F1rst Wrestling’s Wrestlepalooza XI event this Saturday. The Wrestlepalooza events are unique in that they take place in the world famous First Avenue nightclub in downtown Minneapolis, are 18+, feature live music and burlesque shows, and have no seating with the crowd barricaded off about ONE foot from the ring. The show sold out several weeks ahead of time and attendance was announced as “more than 1,000” which seemed credible given the size of the venue.
Show rundown and results:
(1) Thunder Frog & Wild Cat defeated Rob Justice & Scott Story. This was announced as a “lucha” tag match. The first of many comedy spots was Justice, who does a cop gimmick, frisking Wild Cat in the corner and finding a bag of cat nip hidden in his trunks. Fun match to kick off the show with lots of crowd involvement and chants of “Meow!” and “Ribbit!” for the anthropomorphic babyface team.
“All Ego” Ethan Page interrupted the celebration to attack Wild Cat while cutting a heel promo on Minneapolis until Colt Cabana made the save.
(2) Colt Cabana pinned Ethan Page in a crowd-pleasing match.
Punk band “Off With Their Heads” played a short set.
(3) Candice LaRae defeated Chuck Taylor. I’m not a huge fan of intergender matchups, but the crowd was into it.
Up next was a burlesque performance by dancer Scarlet Revolver.
(4) Arik Cannon defeated Shane Strickland and Jason Cade and Fire Ant in a Fatal Four-Way to retain the Wrestlepalooza Championship. This match highlighted the drawback of having the crowd standing right up against the ring, as highflyers Cade and Strickland were limited to relatively tame dives into the ring. Still a good match with (F1rst Wrestling promoter) Arik Cannon picking up the win after a brainbuster.
“Off With Their Heads” played another set before being interrupted by local heel Darin Corbin, who stole a guitar and threatened us with an Elias-esque acoustic set. “Off With Their Heads” took back their guitar and hit Corbin with it, sending him to the back in a fun segment.
(5) Air Wolf & Space Monkey defeated The Ugly Duckings of Lance Lude & Rob Killjoy in the match of the night. This was my first time seeing any of these guys and I was very impressed. Air Wolf in particular was great and quickly had the crowd chanting his name. After the match, Air Wolf challenged Wrestlepalooza champion Arik Cannon to a title match at the next event.
(6) Local talent Chaos 300 beat Cody Rice in a basic match.
More burlesque with performer Sweat Pea.
(7) Ryan Cruz defeated Darin Corbin for sole possession of the Wrestlepalooza Tag Titles. Cruz and Corbin were longtime tag partners in the Midwest as North Star Express until the dastardly Corbin turned on his best friend Cruz. This was a no DQ match with lots of big bumps and brawling. In the end, Cruz hit a frog splash off a ladder for the win. After more than three hours and many over-priced drinks, the crowd seemed tired but still managed some decent pops for the two local guys.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall an enjoyable show with a hot crowd, I would definitely recommend F1rst Wrestling to anyone in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area.

Hogan and Sting do promos for upcoming appearance
WWE Hall of Famers Sting and Hulk Hogan will be reuniting for a photo-op at the Ace Universe Comic Con on Monday, January 15th in Glendale, Arizona. To promote the event, both wrestlers cut promos, Hogan referenced losing to Sting at Starrcade in 1997 and did his usual "Whatcha gonna do?" while Sting tried to do his best Hogan impression, but thought it could use some work.

Vince Russo On Challenging Vince McMahon, Current WWE Creative, Misconceptions Of His Career
The THIRD YEAR Anniversary episode of The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling features the most polarizing, controversial and talked about figure in the history of the wrestling business as Vince Russo joins today's show. Where did the "crash" TV mindset come from when writing shows in the Attitude Era:
"Basically where "crash" TV came from is real simple because there is no reason in the world that they should not instill the same freaking work ethic and if they instilled this today the show would go from a one to a ten overnight. Where "crash" TV came from was because we were going head to head with Monday Nitro. The way Ed (Ferrera) and I wrote the show is you had a television with a wrestling fan sitting in front of that television set on Monday night and they had a choice between Nitro and RAW. When they flip over to RAW and they are watching RAW they are begging you to give them a reason and give them a low and give them the opportunity to tune over to the other show and (bro) knowing if they tune over to the other show and there is something good there, they may never come back. Ed and I literally wrote that show like the wrestling fan was sitting in front of his TV on Monday nights and he had the remote control in his hand and he was begging you to let him flip over to see what was going on on Nitro. That is where "crash" TV came from and you know what? There is no reason in the world that it should not be the same psychology today."
What is the main problem plaguing WWE across the board:
"Here is the problem in a nutshell and this is the problem across the board. It's because of politics and that is what it is all about. It is all about ego and because of ego, politics and power they have people in key positions that have no reason being there. You know how in every other big company like if you work for Apple or you work for a Chevrolet, any company you work for will want to hire the best people to make their company better. That is how companies become better. You look at kids coming out of college and you look at people that are out there with experience and you are always looking for better people to make you better. Bro, wrestling is the complete opposite. They have inadequate people in key positions that got there because of politics and if you are on the outside looking in and you have any kind of talent whatsoever they will do anything in their power to keep you away. They will bury you, they will start campaigns online, they will smear your name, they will lie about you, they will make crap up about you and anybody that is better than them they just destroy because they are protecting their spot. When somebody comes in that is better than them all of a sudden they are exposed. There is no light at the end of the rainbow and they don't have the right people in there and they don't have the right people doing the key jobs and that is evident every time you watch one of their shows."
Is it Vince McMahon just surrounding himself with "yes men" that is the problem:
"Bro, you want to know something that makes no sense? All of these clowns, they are all writing to please Vince. They are all writing to please a 72 year old man. Unfortunately, 72 year old men are not your audience."
Challenging Vince on booking decisions:
"I will never forget there was a Summer Slam at Madison Square Garden with AC/DC Highway to Hell and I'll never forget the main event was Taker vs. Austin. Taker and Austin were really good friends and they wanted to go into that match at Madison Square Garden and they wanted to make it a babyface match because as a shoot they were very close. I remember getting in a yelling match with Vince McMahon and lets face it Taker and Austin were the top guys and they earned that spot so Vince wanted to make them happy and I couldn't understand that."
"I remember saying to Vince and especially in New York at Madison Square Garden that people do not want to see a babyface match between Austin and Taker, they want to see these guys freaking kill each other. It's freaking New York City bro this isn't Wisconsin and I remember yelling at him in his freaking car. The end of that story is they had their babyface match and there was no response and both guys knew why but that doesn't matter. My point is that I got away with that stuff because at the end of the day Vince knew my passion and he knew that Vince Russo wasn't about power and ego and money and all that crap but he was about wanting the show being the best it could absolutely be. Vince knew that and if he didn't know that do you know how many times he would have fired me? He knew what my agenda was and he knew where my heart was and it was always in the show being the best it could be. Today it is all about protecting your spot and making sure you are safe, write something that Vince will like and OH MY GOD bro it is freaking horrible."
What is the biggest misconception of Vince Russo:
"You know what part of the misconception is about me and listen I'm not saying this to be braggadocios because I swear to you I do not have an ego and I don't give a crap. But I wrote for characters long enough to know what gets a character over and at the end of the day here is what gets a character over."
"Basically you've got to find something in them that is very real so when they go out and portray that (character) you magnify it a million times over and people believe it. They are not acting because it is real to them. That is the key to getting a character over. With that said, when they started putting so much freaking pressure on me to get rating at WCW, bro I never wanted to be a character on TV and I never had any intentions of being a character on TV."
"To this day, I promise you that is 90% of the reason why so many people disdain me. They disdain me because in their minds I am still that character and I'm not. That is not me, I don't carry myself that way and I swear to God that I buried myself at WCW and later on in TNA buried myself because I never put on a power play, I never wanted power, never wanted more money I just wanted to write the television show. That is all I cared about and those around me who were political animals buried me and were burying me because they were afraid of me and because they knew my talent. The only way they were going to bring me down was to continue to bury me over and over again until they convinced that person that I was the person that they wanted me to be. Bro, I didn't fight back because my whole theory was if you want to buy into that and want to believe them than no problem just get rid of me and let them do the job and lets see what happens. With TNA, you can look at TNA and you can look at the numbers and you can pinpoint exactly where Russo left the company. You can look at those numbers and see that Vince wrote up to this point and than Vince left because you look at that number month after month and they started losing more and more audience. So that is the misconception, people don't know me, they have no idea of who I am and they don't know about Vince Russo the son, the husband, the father, they know of me as being a fictional character that they saw on TV."

Kenny King Reveals Talks With WWE About Joining NXT.
ROH star Kenny King was recently interviewed by Solo Wrestling. They sent us these highlights:
After Tough Enough, has anyone from WWE contacted you or have you tried to return to WWE:
"I had a tryout in 2007, but I've been under contract for a major wrestling company since 2008. We've been in contact. I was talking with the WWE office about going to NXT [in December of 2016]. My whole situation is based around I have joint custody of my daughter. So moving to Florida to NXT was a problem. That's why I decided to sign with ROH last year.
"WWE is everybody's goal when they start, but I think the goal of every professional wrestler is to be able to pay your own bills and work as a wrestler no matter what company you work with."
The Beat Down Clan was expected to be a big thing in TNA, but after all the problems with Hernandez and Lucha Underground, the idea was quickly dissolved. As a wrestler, how did you feel when this happened? Was that the main factor of you leaving the company and going back to ROH?
"It was very heart breaking for me because I loved the idea and I thought we were on the way to do our very best work. For the way it happened, over nothing, over poor business... one night we film like six episodes where we were the focal point and then we just disappeared. There was a lot of that that sucked. After it was gone, I just didn't think the direction they had for me and the direction I wanted to go didn't seem to go in the same direction. Credit to John Gaburick and Dixie [Carter], we had a very amicable split. We are still friends. It was just business."
After all the problems in 2012, was it hard to go back to ROH and earn the confidence and the respect of the company back?
"There was never any heat. There was never any heat with someone that matters inside the company. There was heat with one guy that isn't even allowed to enter the locker room. I didn't leave the company in an unprofessional way. If I did, Joe Koff wouldn't welcome me back with open arms. He's always welcomed me back.
"There was never any heat or lack of respect, the issue was because of the heat with [Jim] Cornette and a lot of people believed whatever BS that he was saying. Other than that I've never had a bad relationship with the ROH office."

1/5 WCWO 'GETTING WARM' RESULTS FROM INDIANAPOLIS
WCWO "Getting Warm" 1/5/2018
1. WCWO Outlaw Heavyweight Champion Johnathan Wolf came out and issued an open challenge which no one answered. The referee Marshall, then took his ref gear off and dove on Wolf. Wolf eventually fought back and began to clip off parts of Marshall's hair until Corey made the save.
2. Ace Perry defeated Shawn Kemp.
3. Jake Garvin w/ Joey Dice defeated Joey Venom. After the match, Jake turned on Venom.
4. Sage Phillips and Bret Havoc survived an elimination scramble also involving Jordan James, Jax Rivers, Kid Thunder, and Bradley Prescott IV, but the match was thrown out as Sage and Bret fought in the crowd eventually forcing WCWO Management, Officials, and part of the backstage locker room to separate it.
5. Pogo and Calvin Tankman defeated Dynamite Dillen and WCWO Fight Or Die Champion Matthew Galloways w/ Skull Crusher when Calvin pinned Matthew. After the match, Calvin held the WCWO Fight or Die Championship up and said he was coming for it.
6. WCWO Commishioner Joey Owens came out and cut a promo about how things were going to change in the WCWO. He mentioned a lot of new exciting things coming including huge indy wrestling stars that would be coming in, as well as a supershow every two months.
7. Mance Warner defeated Tripp Cassidy.
8. Percy Davis and Miles Morales defeated The Young Dragons (Dale Patricks and Josh Crane). The Young Dragons seemed to have trouble communicating during this time.
9. Tom Van Zant defeated Levi Everett. After the match, Tom announced he wasn't done with Joey Owens, and went to attack Levi some more, but Owens came for the save. Jordan James then got involved and attacked Owens.
10. Main Event: Johnathan Wolf defeated Corey Storm to retain the WCWO Outlaw Heavyweight Championship by rollup. Johnathan almost won the match by disqualification by using the "Eddie Trick" but Marshall came out and called out to the other ref that the belt wasn't really used. This resulted in Wolf superkicking Marshall.

The logic of Impact Wrestling's booking( makes you scratch your head)
Thi8s is from the results report someone did at PWInsider (and this serves [perfect for me questioning the 'logic' or lack there of, which has been there since Jarrett came back and then got fired again).
Grand Championship Match: Ethan Carter III vs Matt Sydal vs Fallah Bahh
Judges call the second round for EC3, and EC3 immediately pops Sydal up for a vertical suplex, but Bahh wipes him out with a crossbody and then crushes him with a vertical splash. Sydal breaks it up at 2, so Bahh goes for a Samoan drop, Sydal gets out and heads to the top and connects with Meteora for 2. Bahh is right back up and gets a Samoan drop on EC3, then an avalanche in teh corner on Sydal, and he goes up for the Banzai Drop with a minute left. EC3 dumps him over the top rope, Bahh hits the steps on the way down, and lands hard on the floor. Sydal with a big boot and flying knee to EC3, then he goes to the top for the Sydal Press, but Bahh distracts him long enough that he doesn't have time to get the pin after hitting the Sydal Press.
The crowd chants for one more round as we go to the judges, who call it for...
Winner: Ethan Carter III
So EC3 wins the third round when he got almost no offense in, while Bahh dominated and Sydal nearly pinned him? Okay so how does that make sense? PPPSSST, it doesn't.

Lambert stalls as much as he can before Storm has enough and goes after him. All of American Top Team runs in and beats Storm down. Storm fights his way through all of them and is alone with Lambert, but then KM runs in and breaks a beer bottle over Storm's head. Storm goes down like a rock and Lambert covers...for 2. American Top Team is back up as Storm staggers to his feet, then King Mo and another of the MMA guys crack a pair of bottles over Storm's head, and this time it's more than even Storm can overcome. Lambert makes the cover for 3.
Winner: Dan Lambert
What a way to go out. No offense what so ever, just blatantly job a guy out squash wise. Yeah that made sense to do for a guy like Storm, NOT.
The bookers change but yet the illogical booking stays the same. Welcome to Impact Wrestling. Hopefully they'll at least change the titles from the pic here to something resembling titles that don't have the obvious Band-Aid over a shotgun wound look they currently have.

Japan Pro Wrestling's New Year's Dash event earlier today at Korakuen Hall in
Tokyo, Japan, attacking Tetsuya Naito, kicking off a new feud. The two had
taken shots at each other verbally during the ramp up to yesterday's Wrestle
Kingdom 12 event, which saw Jericho lose to Kenny Omega.
LIJ's Naito & BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi & IWGP Tag Team champions SANADA & EVIL had just defeated CHAOS' Kazuchika Okada & IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Will Ospreay & YOSHI-HASHI & Gedo when Jericho hit the ring and attacked Naito from behind. The two were pulled apart but Naito attacked Jericho and spit in his face. Jericho was pulled to the back, throwing everything he could grab towards Naito, who mocked him by sitting in a chair in the middle of the ring.
So, anyone who expected Jericho's New Japan appearance to be one and done, that's not going to be the case.

"So down in Mexico, they do the hair matches obviously, so when Triple A (AAA) did Triplemania, I was in that dome cage where you have to escape from the middle up top… the loser loses their hair you know and so they’re going around asking me how much to lose my hair and I’m like, ‘$50,000” … so they ended up getting Kenzo Suzuki for $5,000 to cut his hair … I was like ‘Kenzo, get your money up front buddy.”

"In ECW, I felt really comfortable because we were kind of allowed to just do our own thing and the pressure weren’t on. But I never could adapt to WWE and it wasn’t because of WWE. I think I still carried that Aldo Montoya thing, where I was still the young boy and I always felt that. I took it too far where I wanted to show respect and humility. But I took it to a level where it sounded like, I was beating myself up and it didn’t serve me well. And I really lacked confidence. Anytime I went up there really. You know? And that’s a me thing. I caused that. Nobody else did."

"This all happened so quick. I was actually doing stuff with Dallas (DDP) prior to this. Just not to this level we were communicating. It’s funny this came through a third party and somebody reached out to Dallas like, “Hey, can you get a hold of PJ?”, and Dallas was like, “I’m already talking to him.”, Long story short a gentleman by the name of Douglas Cartelli. Who works with pro athletes… He is actually going to sponsor me and send me to Atlanta to Dallas’s (DDP) after I have thirty days of clean time to go down there and to go through his program… And because of that, they’re thinking of pairing with this director locally who does documentaries and other films, to possibly shoot a documentary about this whole journey of recovery and hopefully redemption really. It's a real cool opportunity and at the end of the journey this Douglas wants to open up a facility to train athletes in wellness from all walks of life. So something in Connecticut and kind of wants me to be one the professionals in that facility. "

"I had the privilege of meeting Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. I got to meet him a couple of times. I met him last year, before he passed away this August. I was actually in treatment in Tampa when I got the news. I can't say he was a friend and he probably has no clue who I am. But that is not the point, the point is that this guy from the outside looked like he had everything in the world. I communicated through twitter with his wife; he was doing fine days before he killed himself. I think mental health and addiction have a component and work hand in hand and I think mental health has this stigma attached to it."

Bruce Prichard Reveals Current WWE Star Was Considered To Face Hulk Hogan At WrestleMania 9
On a recent episode of his Something To Wrestle podcast, Bruce Prichard discussed one of the last remaining superstars from the Attitude Era, Goldust.
As a producer with the WWE, Prichard had been tasked with coming up with a storyline for Hulk Hogan leading up to WrestleMania 9. Dustin Rhodes had just ended his first run with WWE in 1991, and Prichard started considering Hogan going up against the son of Dusty Rhodes.
"Let me put it this way; we were interested in Dustin Runnels, not Dustin Rhodes. WrestleMania 9 we were looking for something for Hulk Hogan to do; an opponent for him at WrestleMania 9," Prichard explained. "Hulk had been away and it was time for him to come back, but he didn't feel that there was really an opponent for him so Pat [Patterson] and I were looking at different talent outside of the WWF that we can bring in and create an opponent for Hogan and not get someone from the roster but bring someone new in to work with Hogan. We had seen Dustin Rhodes working on the TBS show, WCW Saturday Night. We thought, man, he moves, he is smooth, a good, decent sized worker. Dustin is a big kid, and I remember thinking, oh my God. I then started to do a Dusty [Rhodes] promo because Dusty had always done this promo to me to pitch a match with Dusty Rhodes and Hulk Hogan."
Prichard said he worked hard on coming up with the storyline, but Vince McMahon didn't want to be the one to pitch it to Hogan. Once Prichard explained to Hogan that the idea was for him to face Dusty Rhodes' son, Hogan shot it down immediately.
"I start doing all these Dusty Rhodes promos and asked if you can imagine, not a match between Dusty Rhodes and Hogan, but it would actually be his son that comes in to work with Hulk Hogan? We had Hogan on speaker phone and Vince [McMahon] asked me to pitch the idea to Hulk, and I'm looking at Vince like, he doesn't want me to pitch it he wants Vince to pitch it," Prichard said. "He wants to hear from the boss, he doesn't care what Bruce and Pat [Patterson] have, what does Vince have? So, I go in there with this big, long elaborate pitch, cutting promos, then suddenly Hogan's reaction was, 'you mean that skinny little kid with the buggy-whipped arms I see on TBS this past Saturday?' Vince checked out at that point. Hogan wasn't interested and that meant we weren't getting passed that conversation."
Eventually, Dustin Rhodes became Goldust and was one of the company's biggest heels for a time. Prichard said McMahon never really considered him world-champion material, but rather saw him as an investment. He said McMahon didn't know how the character would be received.

IWGP United States champion Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho: No DQ
This is Jericho's first match outside WWE since 1999. He wore one of his light-up jackets and the scarf, coming out to a song from his band Fozzy.
Omega, accompanied by the Young Bucks, had an elaborate entrance with pyro dressed like Anubis, the Egyptian God with a machine gun.
They began brawling right at the bell. Omega was punching and chopping Jericho in the corner. Jericho pulled the referee in front to break up the momentum, then used that to attack Omega with knees. They fired back and forth with hard chops. Jericho was whipped into the corner but kicked off Omega and pulled him into the Walls of Jericho. Omega fought and made it to the ropes. The referee went to break it up and Jericho reminded him it was no DQ.
Jericho charged Omega but was sent to the floor. Omega went for a baseball sliding kick but Jericho caught him. Omega kicked him backwards into the barricade, then hit the baseball sliding kick. Jericho crashed into the announcers' table outside the guard rails. Omega went for a springboard dive but Jericho moved and Omega wiped out through a table. Jericho locked on the Walls of Jericho on the floor. The referee, Red Shoes, tried to stop it, but was shoved down. Jericho then attacked Red Shoes' son and put him in the Walls of Jericho.
Omega attacked Jericho and nailed him with a chair and one of the TV monitors as he was laid out amongst the wreckage of the announce table. They brawled back into the ringside area. Jericho got the better end of the brawl and screamed "Alpha!" Omega nailed him and laid Jericho under a flat table, the nailed a double stomp off one of the production structures.
They made it back in before beuing counted out. Jericho tried to run him into the buckles but Omega blocked it. Omega nailed Jericho and went for a springboard move but as he hit the ropes, Jericho hit a springboard off the middle ropes and dropkicked him leg. Omega crashed down rudely with the idea that his recently knee surgery may be back to haunt him. Jericho pulled a table out from under the ring, antagonizing Masahiro Chono, who was doing Japanese commentary.
Jericho set up a table and teased a powerbomb through it. Omega fought back while in the air, so Jericho dropped him down on the floor instead. Jericho grabbed a photographer's camera and took pictures of Omega down, then flipped off the crowd while taking pictures of them. Jericho tossed Omega back into the ring and nailed a back elbow off the top for a two count.
Jericho wedged a chair between the turbuckles and worked over Omega with right hands. He used his leg to choke Omega over the ropes. The announcers put over all the WWE names Jericho had beaten. Omega tried to mount a comeback but was taken down with a dropkick out of the corner. Omega fired back with slaps and punches, with the idea he was going for broke because he had been pushed so far. Jericho took him down and nailed a quebrada, which got a big pop. Jericho covered Omega for a two count.
Jericho continued the assault until he was caught with a snap hurrancanrana. He sent Jericho to the floor and nailed an awesome tope con hilo to the floor. The way this was shot, from low, looking up at Jericho, was awesome. Back in the ring, Omega nailed a big bulldog for a two count. Jericho's head was drilled down over Omega's knee.
Jericho was able to reverse Omega and lock in the Walls of Jericho. Omega fought his way to the corner and grabbed something. It was an aerosol can (described as "cold spray") and Omega sprayed it in his face, with the idea that he blinded Jericho. Omega went for a move but Jericho caught Omega, who was sent hard into the chair that was wedged, face-first. Jericho cleaned his face with a towel and began beating Omega into the chair again and again.
Jericho played to the crowd and then sent him into the chair in the corner again. Omega was busted open. Jericho peppered him with punches and slaps. Omega fired back. Omega grabbed him and nailed a stiff Dragon suplex. He followed up with another. Jericho was set up for the One-Winged Angel but slipped off Omega's shoulders and destroyed a steel chair over Omega's face.
Jericho began beating Omega over and over with a chair. He went to the ropes and came down with the frame of the chair on Omega. Omega kept fighting from underneath but Jericho kept nailing him while screaming KENNNNNY to mock the fans. Omega finally nailed him with some big shots while Jericho was up on the ropes, sending him down and through the table that was set up at ringside.
Omega began beating the hell out of Jericho with running knee after running knee. Jericho's mouth was busted open. He picked up Jericho for a double underhook piledriver for a two count. Jericho reversed a One Winged Angel attempted and rolled through, locking on the Walls of Jericho again in the center on Omega. Omega fought for the ropes but was pulled back to the middle and placed in the original WCW version of the Walls of Jericho.
Omega grabbe the referee's shirt and used that to pull himself to the rpes, forcing a break. Jericho shoved the referee down again. Omega avoided the Codebreaker and nailed several knee strikes. He hit the One Winged Angel but Jericho grabbed the bottom rope at the last second to prevent the three count.
Omega went to the top but Jericho crotched him. Jericho went for a top rope rana but Omega slipped underneath and snapped him down facefirst to the top turnbuckle with the idea Jericho's head hit the steel behind the buckle. Jericho escaped a moonsault and nailed a Codebreaker. He covered Omega, who got his shoulder up at the last second.
Jericho began beating him with a chair, yelling at him to stay down. Jericho went for the Lionsault but Omega threw the chair at him, stunning him. Omega nailed the one-winged angel onto the chair and scored the pin.

All the guy did was speak the truth and Caroluzzo got pissed, lol. I have to admit if I was at the show I would've said worse, especially about Caroluzzo(I posted in the past here what he and others in that company at the time of this, 1998 did to me with harassing phone messages because why? I wrote the truth about them getting busted for using charity names for their shows without the charitys permission in a column).

GLOW Wrestler passes away.
Emily Dole, who was Mt. Fiji on the original GLOW, passed away at 60 years old this morning.
New Japan Video Game?
It was announced at NJPW’s pre-Wrestle Kingdom 12 fan festival that the company is partnering with Spike Chunsoft, the development company behind Fire Pro Wrestling, in time for Fire Pro Wrestling World’s release on PS4. The game will be out on PS4 before the 2018 G1 Climax and the NJPW collaboration will include some licensed characters and a story mode where you start as a young lion with the goal of winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Shane Douglas Talks Former Partner Possibly Being Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame This Year
We open up 2018 in a big way with the first Triple Threat Podcast of the year. Shortly after wrapping our last episode of 2017, rumors began to fly about Bam Bam Bigelow's possible WWE HOF enshrinement. Immediately fans took to social media to speculate whether or not Vince McMahon and the WWE would contact "The Franchise" Shane Douglas about a possible induction speech for the "Beast from the East" and in this excerpt from the podcast episode we get Shane's official response to the rumors. If Bam Bam Bigelow is selected to enter the WWE Hall of Fame, would Shane induct his former Triple Threat stable partner:
"Out of the uber respect that I have for Scott (Bam Bam) and certainly his family I'd be honored to induct him into the Hall of Fame. I am certainly capable of putting aside my feelings and it wouldn't be about the WWE or the Hall of Fame it would be about my friend Scott. That said, I don't believe that is ever going to happen. I think there is a better chance that the proverbial snowball could survive hell before that could happen but if that call did come I would certainly be honored to induct Scott into the Hall of Fame and my personal feelings about the "Hall" are irrelevant at that point and would have nothing to do with it. Bam Bam Bigelow truly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame and if that call would come I'd be honored to do it but I don't think it is going to come. I think there is a much greater likelihood that Vince would look elsewhere but I am honored that the fans would want to consider that I should be the one to induct him."
How would Bam Bam feel about how the Hall of Fame inductees are selected:

But I also think that Scott and if I can be so bold as to take a stab at this and that is if Scott is sitting someplace and looking down and seeing where it is today that he would be honored and humbled to let his kids see him be inducted into the Hall of Fame and I'd have to honor that.

The three of us were literally like three brothers and I think he would be honored by the fact to be recognized and to have achieved that level that I don't think that Scott ever saw himself in that way as a top tier guy. I think that is why we all got along so well. None of us ever counted ourselves as being in the class with those guys above us because those guys were great and were legends and were draws and we were just trying to learn and come up behind them. So I think Scott would be eternally humbled by being inducted into the Hall of Fame."

John Morrison has worked for a wide variety of promotions throughout his wrestling career. As a guest on a recent episode of The Ross Report, he discussed some of his experiences with Jim Ross.
Morrison debuted in Impact Wrestling earlier this year, competing as Johnny Impact. One of the staple features of Impact is its six-sided ring, which it has utilized for the majority of its existence. Morrison said he's worked in six-sided rings before, but he's not a big fan of them.
"AAA uses the six-sided ring, Impact uses them as well. Minor differences, like the corners are a little more unstable," he said. "I don't think there is a major difference to the people who are watching the show, but to me, the six-sided ring seems a little bit unnecessary."
Morrison said his personal opinion is that the six-sided ring takes something away from the fan experience. He believes it takes some time to for fans to get used to it as opposed to a conventional wrestling ring, so sometimes fans aren't able to fully invest in the in-ring action.
"Best way to explain it is that wrestling should be an escapism; you shouldn't have to sit there and try to process a six-sided ring," Morrison said. "You have to get lost inside the characters, and if they are not, then something isn't working."
One of the few promotions Morrison hasn't worked for in his career is New Japan Pro Wrestling, which has allowed him to become a fan of the company. He said he would love the opportunity to perform in NJPW because he enjoys watching its style of wrestling. He finds that NJPW is a great alternative from the WWE because of the vast contrast in performance styles.
"It is really the coolest wrestling that exists right now; perhaps number 2 behind WWE. I would love to go over there and wrestle more. They have a roster full of characters," he said. "After watching them, after not watching them for a while, I felt captivated by the cast of characters that really felt like they knew what they were doing. They have a specific style that made it feel interesting to me. Every once in awhile you hit fire; whether it's the popularity of independent wrestling, or the sentiment that WWE has grown a little bit stale. It's the perfect alternative to me.

Konnan On Jinder Mahal's Heat, Which RAW Star He Is A Fan Of, Not Liking WWE's Writing
Konnan was a guest on the most recent episode of The Ross Report and he had a wide-ranging conversation with Jim Ross. Konnan discussed the heel heat Jinder Mahal has generated since he was pushed into the main event picture earlier this year.
"Jinder Mahal has real heat. More heat than anybody," Konnan said. "People were talking about how he wasn't used well the first time around he was in WWE and now he is up here in today's world of great work rate, you have to be in the same conversation of an AJ Styles or Samoa Joe. Some of them, they don't like his work rate so that gives him some real heat."
Mahal's sudden push from mid-card jobber to becoming WWE Champion over the summer wasn't popular among the majority of the WWE Universe. He was able to become one of the top heels in the company before losing the title to AJ Styles last month.
Another superstar that is becoming a top heel in WWE is Elias. Konnan dished out a ton of praise for The Drifter, saying he's one of his favorite superstars at the moment.
"The most over guy to me on either Raw or SmackDown is Elias. That is my favorite character. I love the way he comes out and buries the crowd. I love how he sings his song and buries the crowd," Konnan said. "His delivery and timing is incredible. He is really funny to me. Obviously, they haven't put him in any good matches where he means anything. I mean, they really buried him when they did that angle with Jason Jordan and how he came out and threw vegetables at him, which was very hoaky, but I love watching Elias. He's my favorite right now."
One thing Konnan hasn't been happy about is the current writing in the WWE. He said a major problem the company faces is the 50/50 booking because they aren't really listening to the fans. He's grown frustrated with the writing because he thinks the solution is as simple as hiring better writers.
"Jimmy Jacobs, who used to write for Chris Jericho when he was in WWE. He is in TNA writing for them now. He was on my podcast and we had asked him how many writers they had. He said something along the lines of having 25 writers. He even said that some guys specifically do comedy;
"some guys specifically do promos and that they are very talented guys," Konnan said. "I asked him why the shows are so bad, then? They do such a good job in burying people than putting people over. That 50/50 booking doesn't help anybody. He was telling me how it is really hard to do 3 hours of television every week; I say why not get better writers then? If you watch Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, but I bet you that if you told them that their show was going to be three hours every Sunday instead of one hour it would still be a great show. I just get frustrated when WWE, who invented everything like vignette, putting people over and creating superstars, I just feel as though they don't listen to the crowd, and it's just basically because it is a party of one where you have to have Vince McMahon happy."

LARRY MATYSIK HOSPITALIZED (Updated)
According to a Facebook post from Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling
promoter Herb Simmons, former Wrestling at the Chase host, St. Louis
Wrestling historian and author Larry Matysik has been hospitalized. Simmons
noted, "Not the way I wanted to start off 2018. Please keep our friend Larry
Matysik in you prayers. He has been admitted to the hospital this evening. I
will keep everyone updated on his condition. Matysik was responsible for the
St. Louis DVDs that are out there in circulation as well as the creation of the
St. Louis Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. He's written several books on the
business, including an excellent book on the late Bruiser Brody.
Matysik was considered along with Lance Russell and Gordon Solie as one of the three best announcers of the 1970s and early 1980s. He worked with Muchnick starting in the 60s doing jobs like calling in the results to the local newspapers, and started as television announcer in 1970.
After Muchnick retired at the end of 1981, Matysik was General Manager of the St. Louis promotion working for Bob Geigel, Harley Race, Pat O'Connor, and Verne Gagne, who were the owners. He left the promotion in 1983 after booking the Ric Flair vs, Bruiser Brody match that set the city's all-time gate record at the time. Matysik was tight with Brody and felt that Brody and Flair should have both been paid $1,300 more based on the usual percentages, but Geigel refused to authorize paying them more than $6,000.
Matysik quit the promotion, and Brody went with him and they formed a rival group that drew very well. Later in 1983, after a meeting with Ted Kopplar, who ran KPLR-TV, with Matysik and Vince McMahon, about getting the Wrestling at the Chase time slot that Kopplar had decided to pull from Geigel due to poor ratings and complaints, he pushed that the two should work together and the two agreed to be partners.
The partnership was changed after the deal, but Matysik did work for McMahon through 1991 helping promote shows in St. Louis.
In recent years, Matysik has written several books about pro wrestling, but due to spinal issues and horrible back problems, he had been forced into assisted living. He was still booking and doing television announcing for SICW as late as last year

WWE HALL OF FAMER PENNING FOREWORD TO DR. D DAVID SCHULTZ AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Hall of Famer Bret Hart will be writing the foreword to the
forthcoming autobiography "Don't Call Me Fake: The Real Story of 'Dr. D'
David Schultz" with co-author John Cosper. The plan is to have the book on
sale next month. The book will cover Schultz's life as a professional
wrestler as well as his post-wrestling career as a bounty hunter who traveled
the world bringing back criminals who had absconded from their court dates.
Over the course of his bounty hunting career, Schultz had a 100% capture rate
and those he brought back never skipped again. On the wrestling end, the
book will cover Schultz's early life, his training with Herb Welch, his years in
Memphis, Florida, Stampede, the AWA, and the WWF. Obviously, the John Stossel
ABC 20/20 incident and Schultz's dismissal from WWF will be covered as will be
his run after WWF and his time training professional wrestlers. There will be
stories about Hulk Hogan, Antonio Inoki, Johnny Rodz, The Iron Sheik, Ric Flair,
and Abdullah the Butcher, among others.

AAW sold out all of its 500 tickets in Chicago for a 2/17 Tetsuya Naito vs. Sami Callihan match at Logan Square Arena in 90 minutes. They have a show also on 1/20 at Logan Square Arena and tickets are on sale still with Rey Fenix vs. Matt Riddle for the AAW title plus Juice Robinson appearing. ACH will also be getting an AAW title shot at some point, which will be announced soon

From 2/8/1997, Brian Pillman comes to the Memphis studio to do commentary with Lance Russell. He only does commentary for King Reginald(Reggie B Fine) vs Kip Morris. This is kinda hard to watch cause Brian is in total heel character and Lance seems to be out of the loop. Pillman makes fun of Lance's again and suggests he call Dr. Kevorkian of all people.

The Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol wanted to wish all the fans of the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) a very Happy New Years as 2017 became 2018. Austin Idol is now the manager of the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis under the umbrellas of Idolmania Sports Management. Returning to the forefront of the wrestling scene at CZW’s Cage of Death, Idol shocked the world leading Aldis to winning the Ten Pounds of Gold over now former NWA Champion Tim Storm.
PAIGE INJURY UPDATE
Paige is backstage at Raw in Miami, but the word making the rounds backstage
is that she has not yet been cleared to return to the ring.
Paige was injured wrestling at the Nassau Coliseum last Wednesday during a six woman tag when Sasha Banks nailed her from behind with a kick to the upper back. The belief is that Banks may have accidentally kicked her a little high. Paige went down and suffered what is believed to be a stinger before being walked out.
WWE pulled her from the ring and sent her home as a precautionary measure.

Kenny Omega On Fighting Chris Jericho, Showing A New Version Of Himself At Wrestle Kingdom 12, Okada
Kenny Omega spoke to New Japan Pro Wrestling before his upcoming IWGP US Championship match against Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12.
