CHICAGO'S ODEUM, WHICH HOSTED AWA SHOWS AS WELL AS ECW AND OTHER COMPANIES IS CLOSING

The Odeum in Villa Park, IL, which housed a number of PPV events for the original Extreme Championship Wrestling including Anarchy Rulz '99, which featured Mike Awesome's first ECW World title win, will be closing this May after being sold, The Daily Herald in Illinois is reporting. https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20220126/odeum-expo-center-in-villa-park-sold-will-close-may-31

Beyond ECW events in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the venue hosted Impact Wrestling's Bound for Glory 2019 and several Ring of Honor-New Japan Pro Wrestling War of the Worlds tour events in 2017 and 2019.

The venue, which was owned by the same family since the early 1980s, will operate until that point.  The existing building may be torn down or repurposed by the new owners, Arrow Trans Corp, a trucking and warehouse business.

Here's some things that either hyped up The Odeum or happened at The Odeum
