A quick studio promo followed by recap footage of the resulting Texas Death Match which took place in Memphis at the Mid-South Coliseum featuring Jerry Lawler and Dutch Mantel versus Bill Dundee and Buddy Landel.
The angle begins as Buddy Landel and Bill Dundee enter the studio and chase Lance Russell away. Now controlling the mic , Bill and Buddy draw heat until Jerry Lawler and Dutch Mantel show up to run them out of the studio. Lawler then cuts a promo for Monday night and we segue to highlight footage of their classic Texas Death Match that goes an astounding 28 falls!
Pay attention--during the match, some really good work occurs. Particularly when Lawler wails on Buddy Landel's head until he gases himself, then steps back and tees off on Landel who goes airborne. Lance will rightly describe this as "a beauuuuuuuutiful shot." :)
Note: In a Texas Death Match, there are no disqualifications and pin falls count anywhere. After a pin fall, the wrestler pinned has a ten count to get up or get back in the ring. If he fails to do so, he loses the match.
