A few things to cover on this Mat Mumblings so I'll get right to it.
After
reading and hearing all the hoopla on Rhonda Rousey's “Heel Turn”,
I went and looked at acouple things on it. Now remember I don't
follow WWE for many well documented reasons that WWE continues to
prove me correct on, THIS.. Would be another example of it.
Now
there's two ways of looking at this. First, and WWE has established a
LONG PATTERN of doing this, they have a golden goose and they go and
fucked it up. You have a money making machine in Rousey's name value
so why not let her go out there and be the UFC fighter she's been?
Why have her waving and smiling and whatnot when she really didn't do
that when she was in the UFC?
Which
comes to the number two way of looking at this, which coincides with
the first way. Why didn't they do this 'heel' kind of thing from the
get go? Why have you waited until NOW... To try this and see if this
puts more asses ins eats at the TV tapings and more buys for the
PPV's? (Or even more subscriptions to their network)?
Because
as I've said over and over... And over again for years. The creative
in WWE is 'creatively challenged'. Where you have the most obvious,
most simplistic way to present a name or gimmick, they keep fucking
it up because they micromanage every little thing. But when it comes
to just presenting a straight ahead bad ass in a simple way? Letting
them go out there and do what made them become a 'name' to begin
with? Something that simple is for some reason, too complicated for
WWE ( And Impact Wrestling as well) to grasp for some reason.
If
you think you can't present someone that simply? Like years before
guys like Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, Terry Gordy, Medusa Micheli,
etc etc, were before? You say it can't be done today? WELL.. That's
bullshit and here's a list of great examples that prove it. WALTER,
Rampage Brown, Zack Gibson, CCW and Stonewall in WWA Kentucky, Beau
James in AMW, Rex Anderson in Reality Of Wrestling, just to name a
few, and I can keep going with examples.
So
the bottom line is that WWE and their way of doing things complicates
the most simple basic way of presenting talent that continues to work
to this day, and it doesn't matter how many new producers they hire.
They all have to learn how to do it the WWE way and learn how
complicating simple ways is THE WAT in the WWE because it is after
all, 'The WWE way” and it's also proven to NOT be, THE WAY.
Which
brings me to the next thing, speaking of 'new producers' and creative
people.
They
get rid of a golden goose like Arn Anderson and replace him with of
all people, Jeff Jarrett. Just like I said last time when I said they
got rid of Anderson and put Bruce Prichard in, that there's something
very wrong with this picture... Same statement applies with Jarrett
as well.
I
mean yes yes, he's a second generation wrestler and all that, but
really, he wasn't a GOOD second generation wrestler. His biggest
thing was stealing Wayne Ferris's smashing a guitar over opponent's
heads gimmick, not to mention how much he force fed himself down
people's throats when he started TNA (now Impact Wrestling) because
he was the booker and he had to put himself over more than other more
established, or better talent. It was a long running joke seeing
Jarrett try to prove to people he was a main event draw when the
reality was, and still is.. he wasn't and never was going to be
unless he.. Booked himself to be that way.
And
let's not forget how well his Global Force Wrestling turned out to be
as well. Global Farce Wrestling and another in acouple different
running jokes that go with the name Jeff Jarrett, but hey, let's put
someone like him in a creative spot and get rid of the guy ALOT of
wrestlers have credited their careers to in Arn Anderson.
Seriously,
how many wrestlers credit Jeff Jarrett for their careers becoming a
success? I'll wait.. I'll be waiting for awhile and even if someone
does come up with a name, it won't even come close to the amount of
people who credit Arn Anderson.
The
death of King Kong Bundy was like another chapter in my life ending.
Besides seeing him growing up in the WWF and later a short stint in
the AWA as “Boom Boom” Bundy, I was able to meet him when I went
to a Sylvano Sousa AWF show in Manchester NH in 1997. I had just got
my break to start working for Sousa when Bundy made his appearance in
Manchester (He would appear for Sousa in Haverhill, Mass. at a “Night
Of Legends' show Sousa did and another Sousa show in Nashua, NH as
well).
The
first interaction I ever had with him was during intermission at the
first Sousa show I saw him at, he's doing autographs and pictures and
he sees me eating my third burger(where he was was right next to the
food concession) and he says “How many of them you gonna eat”?
Without thinking I replied with “Want me to buy you one”? He
looks at the guy hired by Sousa to help take pictures and says “You
don't hear that every day, people think cause I worked for the WWF
that I'm a millionaire and I should buy them dinner and here's this
guy offering to buy me dinner”. He did re-enforce a theory I had
back when he was known as “Boom Boom Bundy' in the AWA. I asked him
about that and explained that I knew Bruiser Brody was known as King
Kong Brody there and I wonder if your name change and Brody's had to
do with the fact Dick The Bruiser was the well known legend in the
Midwest. He looked at me and said “How'd you know that? That's
absolutely correct”. I then explained growing up in Chicago
watching AWA and Bruiser's/Luce's promotions..

Guys
like him, Crusher Blackwell, One Man Gang and Bigelow will always be
in the 'go to' dept. when it comes to watching old wrestling on
YouTube. Will be missed by many and I thank him for the memories he
gave to me.

When
I posted both I said then and have been proven correct now.. That
guys like Meltzer, Keller, Scherer and Johnson ar PWInsider,
WrestlingInc, etc wouldn't have the balls to cover it (Unless it
involved someone on the WWE, Impact, ROH or AEW Rosters). LO AND
BEHOLD... I was right.. Meltzer even tried to lie and claim he
covered it but when he was called out to provide proof? He quickly
got quiet. Someone beat me to it but was nice enough to send me the
email convo between he and Meltzer and you'll see that the guy also
sent the links to the other wrestling writers I mentioned and they of
course, showed a lack of balls in covering it because pushing Bella
Twins Ratings, free podcasts and VIP memberships are just 'wwwaayy
more important' than doing a story on wrestlers acting like sick
perverts on shows they're paid to perform on.
As
an added fact to this, I've talked to not one, not two, BUT THREE
different people who subscribe to Meltzer's dirt sheet and all three
went thru the back editions/issues of the Observer (One went back
thru three and a half months of the issue he gets snail mail) and
Meltzer outright lied. Guess Meltzer didn't think when he lied he
was gonna get his ass called out for proof, but surprise.. he was,
and no surprise.. he suddenly went silent, imagine that.
So
in the end it's as I've always said and will continue to say. You can
thank me for being the guy who has the balls to write or post the
things the other so called 'well known' writers are too chickenshit
to cover. At least I'll so what they'll keep bitching up on doing
because in the end, serious stories like the ones I put links to will
always be more important than seeing if you can get another quarter
from a VIP membership or dirtsheet subscription. So again, you can
thank me, for being the guy those others will never have the balls to
be. :)
