Jim Ross Leaving WWE
On his latest podcast, Jim Ross noted his WWE contract ends on March 29th, and both he and Vince McMahon met and "mutually agreed" to part ways. He noted he still has a lot to offer, although some people "surrounding Vince" think otherwise. He said he is looking to what the future brings, and doesn't expect to be out of work for long.
He also mentioned that a podcast with Conrad Thompson is almost a lock, unless something happens at "the eleventh hour". If it goes through, it will replace the current format of his podcast.
Jushin 'Thunder' Liger Announces When He Will Be Retiring
One of the all time greatest Junior Heavyweight wrestlers of all time, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, 54 years old, announced during a press conference earlier today that he will officially retire from the ring at the 2020 New Japan Pro Wrestling Wrestle Kingdom event at the Tokyo Dome. The announcement was not a shock, although it marks the end of an era in professional wrestling. With his full body suit, horned mask and electric theme song, Liger, as a character, was immortal, aging only in how his ring work changed. He had not been a focused upon performer in some time, and in reality the nostalgia of who he was made him a bigger deal in the United States than he was in New Japan. He didn't even work this year's Tokyo Dome, instead announcing parts of the show.
To say Liger was one of the most influential wrestlers of the modern era is perhaps an understatement. It's impossible to accurately account for how many talents he inspired and/or pushed to follow the style of wrestling he helped cultivate in the 1990s New Japan Pro Wrestling, where Junior Heavyweights were treated as an attraction vs. undercard fodder. Liger is an 11-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a six time Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. It's impossible to think of a time where he wasn't part of the New Japan mix, either as a challenger, a champion or as the veteran the newer generation had to get past to make their own name. .
Liger, real name Keichi Yamada, was actually denied entry to the New Japan Dojo when he began trying to become a pro wrestler. He instead went to Mexico, where he started his career and was later invited back to the New Japan dojo, which he has said happened only because NJPW officials at the time took pity on him. He began training and like many other young stars, went on excursion to other countries, including Great Britain (where he worked as Flying Fuji Yamada) and Canada, where he worked under his real name for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling.
Liger returned to New Japan in 1987 full-time and competed under his real name. He was then given the Liger gimmick, based on a popular Japanese comic book and animated series, with the idea of creating a new Tiger Mask-like character, which had seen great success. The Liger character debuted on 4/24/89 at the first-ever New Japan event at the Tokyo Dome, defeating Kuniaki Kobayashi. As the character's look progressed, the outfit mixed with Liger's incredible aerial spots, including the shooting star press, caught the attention of all who saw it, even getting coverage on the George Michael Sports Machine series here in the United States.
It was Liger's rivalry with the late Brian Pillman that brought him his first real fanfare in the United States as the two feuded over the WCW Cruiserweight championship in late 1991 and early 1992, culminating in an amazing PPV bout at Superbrawl II that stole the show and set the stage for the modern day Cruiserweight style wrestling we see today. The rivalry would be revisited on the first episode of Monday Nitro and Liger, through New Japan's working relationship with WCW, would continue to make appearances over the years.
Liger would also come to work for Ring of Honor, headlining a "Weekend of Thunder" events in New Jersey and Massachusets, where he worked against Bryan Danielson. He would lost a non-title bout to then-ROH Champion Austin Aries and would make a number of subsequent appearances due to New Japan's working relationship with ROH. In his announcement, Liger stated that he hoped to work Madison Square Garden at the G1 Supercard, which would be his debut in the venue.
Liger worked the 2005 Bound for Glory event for TNA, losing to Samoa Joe. He would later return to the company to represent New Japan as part of the 2006 World X Cup.
Liger made one appearance for WWE, at the first NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, defeating Tyler Breeze. Liger was invited to work the show by William Regal, who he knew from his time in WCW and England, appearing as his NJPW deal allowed him to take outside bookings. It will likely end up being his lone WWE appearance.

7) Scott Ripley w/"The Coach" Kelly Russell was declared the winner over the 400+lbs "Big" Cliff Corleone to advance in KOT19. Yes, you read that correctly. Corleone's heated rival Mike Mission hit the ring as Corleone was about to chokebomb Ripley through the mat. Corleone dropped him in what he expected to be a chair shot but instead Mike Mission blasted Scott Ripley which disqualified Cliff Corleone. An irate Corleone realizing the ploy that just transpired still chokebombed Ripley for his troubles.

The Coach passed his clipboard to Ripley who blasted Chevy in the head with it to no avail whatsoever. A now angry Chevy who had just hit Coach off the apron through Ripley over the top rope and it appeared he was eliminated. However his feet did NOT land on the floor as they landed on a knocked out Kelly Russell. As Chevy and Martens fought for positioning as they were both over the top rope, Ripley used the very little push needed to have both men hit the floor and become the winner.
11) The Cannon Corporation represented by Dan "The Beast" Severn, CWE Tag Team Champion "The Canadian Crusher" AJ Sanchez, "Big" Bobby Schink, & "The Rebel" Bobby Collins w/"The Mastermind" Kevin Cannon beat the team of "The Rabid Dog" Rob Stardom, "Mr. Beefy Goodness" Vance Nevada, & The Old School Wrecking Crew, "Outlaw" Adam Knight & "The Tattooed Terminator" Darren Dalton when Severn choked out Stardom with The Dragon Sleeper. After the match Cannon paid off his men but withheld Severn's envelope insisting the job wasn't done as Stardom was still still moving. Severn demanded his money and grab Cannon by the throat. As soon as he did Schink and Collins attacked him which allowed Cannon to escape but Schink and Cannon weren't so lucky as Severn laid waste to both men!

ARN ANDERSON FIRED DUE TO LETTING ALICIA FOX WRESTLE INTOXICATED
A new report indicates that Arn Anderson was fired from WWE because he reportedly let Alicia Fox wrestle intoxicated.
Alicia Fox reportedly showed up at a house show intoxicated. Anderson, who was the agent for her match, allowed Fox to compete despite this. When word got to Vince McMahon he was reportedly furious, which led to the firing.
Fightful soon after reported that Alicia Fox was offered rehab, but instead went absent to the extent that several in the company had no idea if she was offered rehab or where she was. She has not competed in a match since February 10, when he teamed with Mickie James and Nikki Cross in a losing effort against Bayley, Dana Brooke and Natalya.
In her first post since 2/18, Fox posted the following on Instagram this afternoon: “#resilience /rəˈzilyÉ™ns/ noun 1. the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness And for those w your own opinion #nofoxgiven #fancy #mood #digitaldetox”
Anderson had been with the company since 2002 as a road agent/producer. Alicia Fox has been with WWE since 2006.
KING KONG BUNDY PASSES AWAY AT 61 YEARS OLD
Christopher Pallies, best known as King Kong Bundy, has passed away at the age of 61.
No further details are currently known. David Herro was the first to report the news, with PWInsider later confirming he had passed away.

Sgt. Slaughter On How He Would Deal With WWE's Scripted Promos
WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter recently spoke with Busted Open Radio about the current state of today's WWE. During the conversation, Sgt. considered how difficult it would be if he was a part of today's active roster, competing against exceptional stars like Seth Rollins and A.J. Styles.
In the ever-changing landscape of WWE, Sgt. recognizes a few top talents he would like to go toe-to-toe with to create unforgettable matches. Never one to shy away from pushing boundaries, Sgt. also named Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair as the two top female stars that he would enjoy stepping in to the ring with.
"Seth Rollins could be someone that I would really enjoy having a match with as me being a villain," Sgt. said. "As a hero, Brock Lesnar would be a tremendous match. A.J. Styles, what he does in the ring is pretty incredible. I could just see him jumping up on that top rope and going to do something and I just go to clothesline him, you know? Just the way he works, he's in ring savvy. He's just incredible. Of course, I wouldn't mind wrestling Becky Lynch or Charlotte. There as good as some of the guys, maybe better!"
Sgt. believes that the added pressure of memorizing scripts along with delivering quality wrestling matches on a nightly basis would make the job of WWE superstar more challenging than it was during his stints with the company. Sgt. remembers a simpler time, when he and his fellow wrestlers would travel from hotel to hotel and practice delivering their next promos.
"It would be tough [in today's WWE]," Sgt. explained. "I look at it now and I go, 'I wonder if I could do that?' Because we weren't scripted. As you said, we were told a point to get to and we always knew where we wanted to get out at. We would just ask how much time do you want and we would just ad lib whatever we had to say, who our opponent was, where we were gonna wrestle that night. At that time, as you probably did Bubba, we would go to hotels when we would land and do promos all day long before we would go to the arena to wrestle. And you would do one right after the other, and all you had to do was change the opponent or change the event."
Sgt. also gave an example of the level of input WWE stars once had over the scripts they were given. He recounted a funny story where, after refusing a script he was handed, Vince crossed out the content on the page and told him to perform it his own, original way.
"I see some of these guys - every time I see Paul Heyman, I bow to him," Sgt. admitted. "And I say, 'It's incredible what you have to do. I mean, you're the master. You're out there 15/20 minutes sometimes'...I see these guys like Seth Rollins, and A.J. Styles, and all these guys that have to do these promos. And I just wonder, 'Could I do that?'
"Because when we would go back, guys like Roddy Piper and I, we would go back to do promos and they would give us a script. And I would look at it and tell the writer, 'I would never say anything like this. It's not what the Sgt. would say.' So he would say, 'Well, let me go talk to Vince.' He'd come back and it would have a big 'X' on it and he'd say, 'Vince said just do the promo whatever you do.' So, that's how we would do it and probably still do it today, I don't think I would have a script if I went to do promos now."

Independent Wrestler Jaden Roller Outed For Having Explicit Conversation With 15-Year Old Special Needs Girl
On the heels of a story I broke yesterday https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2019/02/indy-company-cancels-show-because-of.html (That of course Scherer and Johnson at PWInsider, Keller at The Torch, Meltzer, and WrestlingInc have proven to be too scared to cover, and they were sent a link to my story, have the email to prove it) comes THIS ONE, courtesy of Bodyslam.net.
Here 's a link to their story, right here. https://www.bodyslam.net/2019/03/01/independent-wrestler-jaden-roller-outed-for-having-explicit-conversation-with-15-year-old-special-needs-girl/?fbclid=IwAR2uMUIEUh2CV5_VrS9OpEjleSMS5kdGcY2IjTGLYS7iCTxQwlg2sYLc9Fk
How much you want to bet that Scherer, Johnson, etc etc will cluck like chickens again, when they get called out to cover this one? They put the chicken suits on when it came to my story, so expect the same for this one as well.

The Undertaker Gives His Thoughts On Vince McMahon, Reveals What WCW Said That Led To His Departure
Making his debut for the WWE in 1990, it is somewhat rare to see The Undertaker out of character. The Undertaker would appear at the C3 Conference with Ed Young to discuss his career, including his relationship with Vince McMahon, and what he was told when he was let go by World Championship Wrestling in 1989.
Working for McMahon for 28 years, Undertaker has been able to not only develop a professional relationship, but also a friendship with McMahon, praising him for being a wonderful leader, as well as more of a friend than a boss.
"He's awesome, you may see him on TV and think 'man, I do not like that guy', but he's awesome," Undertaker said. "He would never ask anybody to do something he wouldn't do, and he's really built an empire on hard work, dedication and energy. When you see that man and see what he puts into it [WWE], you feel like 'well, I at least have to try and match that.' He's an awesome leader, and I call him boss, but I think we're more friends now than we are employee and company owner.
Before he became The Deadman, he was "Mean" Mark Callous in WCW. The Undertaker talked about believing that he was meeting with the company to renegotiate a contract, but was really being let go, and also reveals what officials told him that fueled him to be one of the best.
"I was working for another company, and they actually told me I was going in to renegotiate the contract," Undertaker said. "They sat me down and went 'Listen, you're a good athlete, but no one's ever gonna pay money to watch you wrestle.' They said to me, and I was like 'Really? Okay, that's all I need to hear. We'll see you guys down the road.' That really stuck with me."
Undertaker also talks about getting an initial meeting with Vince, the confidence he had going in to the meeting, and how Vince initially reacted to him.
"I eventually get a meeting with Vince, and I was like I'm gonna walk in here, I'm gonna blow him away, I'll get hired right on the spot," Undertaker said. "I go to Connecticut and I meet with Vince, and at the end of the meeting he goes 'Well, we really don't have anything right now. Maybe the first of the year or after WrestleMania we'll have an opening' and I was like 'Oh wow, I had already quit the other place', so I hadn't figured the other part in."
The Undertaker would make his debut for the WWE at the 1990 Survivor Series event, which saw him as the mystery member of Ted DiBiase's "Million Dollar Team", and taste victory against "The Dream Team", which featured Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Koko B. Ware and Dusty Rhodes. Most recently, The Undertaker teamed with Kane at WWE Crown Jewel on Nov. 2, 2018, in a losing effort against D-Generation X in a tag team match.
Sgt. Slaughter Makes Interesting Claim On The Hall Of Fame
WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter recently spoke with Fox News and made an interesting statement on the Hall. Slaughter claimed that WWE Hall of Famers are voted in by their peers, and that he was unanimously voted in for his 2004 induction.
"Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is the number one thing that you're shooting for. You don't win titles, you earn titles, and to earn the right to be a Hall of Famer and voted in by your peers — I was unanimously voted in," Slaughter said. "I was still wrestling, actually, and it was a great honor. I knew what it was like for me to think of what I wanted to say, who I wanted to thank. And as anything, there's time limits. Wrestlers can talk the chrome off a bumper, so you have to try to get it all into one 10-minute conversation — your whole career, your whole life and who to thank. So it's a pretty big deal and I really enjoyed it. This year it's going to be at the Barclays Center, and I look forward to it because it's my favorite time of the week when I hear the stories and hear who they thank and how they got there."
It's possible Slaughter was just working the interview but the general belief has been that Vince McMahon makes the call on who goes into the Hall each year, perhaps with input and suggestions from other WWE higher-ups or people he trusts. The final decision on an inductee would still come down to Vince, as is still the case with the majority of WWE decisions.
WWE fans could be allowed to vote on Hall of Fame inductions in the future. WWE issued Fan Council surveys in 2016 and 2018 to fan interest on tiered pricing for the WWE Network, and one of the perks for a potential package was Hall of Fame voting. We do know that the company is getting closer to rolling out tiered pricing for the Network.
The 2019 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 6 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn during WrestleMania 35 weekend. D-Generation X (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, Billy Gunn, "Road Dogg" BG James, Sean "X-Pac" Waltman) will be the headliners and The Honky Tonk Man has also been confirmed.

Rayne requested a release over issues with her planned creative in the company.Sources have been told that Rayne had pitched a number of ideas for herself, including a Beautiful People reunion for the promotion, bringing in Angelina Love (who worked in ROH during the early stages of her career) and Velvet Sky. When the creative pitches ended up shot down, Rayne requested a release.

Memory Of Sorts- War of Words: Piper/Lawler Would Have Been Talk of Wrestling in '82
It could have been one of the most memorable feuds in wrestling history, with two of the best talkers in the business in 1982. But it was not to be.
Jerry Lawler, still riding high from the national publicity of his feud with Andy Kaufman earlier that year, made a few appearances on WTBS’s World Championship Wrestling in fall 1982, shortly after the show’s color commentator, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, turned babyface when he saved co-host Gordon Solie from an irate Magnificent Muraco.
Only weeks earlier, Lawler had come off well on the “Late Night with David Letterman Show," which have inspired booker Ole Anderson to bring in Lawler, who hadn’t appeared much in the Peach State since Jerry Jarrett booked the territory during the Atlanta wrestling war of 1974.
Although in the prime of his babyface run in Memphis in 1982, Lawler had returned to Atlanta as a heel, explaining that fans in his hometown had tired of hearing Piper run his mouth on the SuperStation and had asked the King to go to Atlanta to silence the Rowdy One. At one point, Lawler also refers to his would-be foe as “Roddy the Piper,” 26 years before Santino Marella uttered the same line.
If Piper’s incredible heated reaction to Lawler’s comments is any indication, nationwide audiences would have been treated to months of wildly entertaining back-and-forth promos between the two masters.
However, it was not to be—a week before their first schedule match at the Omni, Piper and Rich reportedly were so intoxicated they were hours late to a show in Chattanooga, which wasn't the first strike on two men who were reputed to rowdiest partiers in the biz—a dubious honor. Depending on who you believe Piper was either fired or quit a fews days before his first bout with Lawler, calling in a favor to Ric Flair to get into JCP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taZNKhNQNMY

Indy Company Cancels Show because Of Threatening Fan... BUT....
But... From reading these screen shots here? There seems to be more to this than just a 'threatening fan' excuse. Apparently a wrestler for this company engaged in some unprofessional behavior towards another fan (girlfriend of man who wrote reply in screen shots? Yes indeed) and this company (Excellence Professional Wrestling), evidently has looked the other way on this incident and now has taken the complaint about one of their roster members as an 'excuse' to cancel an upcoming show.
Don't look into a serious complaint of unprofessional behavior at a family friendly show and just cancel a show instead of looking into the complaint? HHMMMMM...
Don't look into a serious complaint of unprofessional behavior at a family friendly show and just cancel a show instead of looking into the complaint? HHMMMMM...
And here's from the woman who was accosted herself.
This is the kind of thing you won't see Meltzer, Keller, Scherer & Johnson at PWInsider or even WrestlingInc cover. I at least AM covering it and have been in contact with the victim who sent me not only the screenshos of what she said, BUT.. Also sent me, THIS.. Letter she sent to Excellence Professional Wrestling over this issue. (Will be getting a letter of their response to what the man in above shots sent them, later today).
This is alot of evidence thrown against Excellence Professional Wrestling, and if they're deleting comments concerning this issue and suddenly 'cancelling' a show in that same area over truly looking into the situation at hand? THAT.. Looks like someone higher up in said company is trying to avoid something here.
I'm sure someone will contact EPW when they see this story, I wonder how they'll reply, if theye ven do or will try and side step it. More.. just may be revealed but this surely doesn't make an indy company look professional when they go and cancel a show over looking into a serious allegation on one of their workers. It 'does' make it look like there's something to hide, so if there is, then WHO... Is Hiding it, and why... Makes you go, HHHMMMM.
