Real Professional Vince, RREEAALL Professional- Zelina Vega Reportedly Escorted Out Of Building After WWE Release

And people actually WANT to work for this ass clown? Why..

WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon reportedly passed on talking with Zelina Vega after she was released from her contract last Friday.

Vega was informed of her release last Friday by WWE's Senior Director of Talent Relations, Mark Carrano. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter adds that Vega asked to talk to McMahon, but Carrano told her that Vince did not want to talk to her, and she was then escorted out of the building.

As noted, Vega was released last Friday due to reasons related to WWE's new edict on third party content with sites such as Cameo and Twitch, which Vega is active on. WWE later confirmed with Sports Illustrated that Vega was released due to a breach of contract.

McMahon was reportedly unhappy with Vega for opening up an OnlyFans account, which she was using for cosplay content under a different name, even after WWE issued the third party edict. The feeling was that Vega's actions boxed the company into a difficult situation. It was noted that Vega's release was done as a reminder to all talents that the new third party policy will be strictly enforced.

Vega appeared on the "Table Talk" podcast with WWE Hall of Famer & Producer D-Von Dudley back in September and recalled how Vince had previously told her that she was one of his favorite talents, comparing her to his daughter, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon.

"It's weird because I think that too and I'm like, you know what? If quarantine didn't happen – not saying that I wouldn't have had these opportunities – but maybe it would have taken a little bit longer," Vega told Dudley. "And also, Becky's having her baby so there are people that are not here so that just leaves spots to fill and for me, I'm like, 'Give me the ball! If I drop it, screw me!' But you lose nothing and I was always ready for that and I think it started with Drew [McIntyre] when we had that back and forth. I was like, 'Man, he's like my other promo half.' It was just perfect.

"Whenever it happened, it was just magic with him and it's interesting because before even quarantine happened, Vince would always say, 'You're one of my favorites. You're one of the reasons that I watch RAW. I love your character.' It was such an honor to hear that because one of the things that he used to say to me was, 'You remind me of Stephanie because she was always working out there. You're a cutaway machine. I love that about you' and first of all, I was like, 'Are you serious?' Legit, I was going to cry. I love Stephanie. She's a huge inspiration when it comes to me and the Zelina character, but it's wild to think that if this quarantine didn't happen, I wonder where I would be. I wonder if I'd be getting a RAW Women's Title shot against Asuka."

As noted earlier this week at this link, Vega and SAG-AFTRA had a "powerful conversation" about potential unionization in pro wrestling.

Former WWF Enhancement Talent And Atlantic Wrestling Federation Promoter Sylvano Sousa Passed Away

It's being reported from very reliable sources that Sylvano Sousa, Passed away from complications of the Covid-19 Virus. The sources include Associate producer of The Wrestler and 350 Days Evan Ginzburg, and I got confirmation from three people who were trained by Sousa.

Sousa (real name Dave Silva) was more than just an enhancement talent in the 80's for the WWF. He also was a mid-card star up in Canada where he feuded with Al Tomko, as well as owner and promoter of the Atlantic Wrestling Federation. Sousa's AWF ran shows in New Hampshire as well as Massachusetts and featured old WWF stars such as Rick Martel, King Kong Bundy, Captain Lou Albano as well as featured future stars such as the late Steve Bradley (who went on to get a WWF Developmental contract and worked Memphis, Puerto Rico, OVW as well as Les Thatcher's Heartland Wrestling Federation), and Matt Bloom (who was Prince Albert in the WWF, Giant Bernard in NJPW and now works as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center).

On a personal note. back in 1997 when i was living in New Hampshire, it was Sylvano Sousa who gave me my first break to live my dream of working in professional wrestling. Helping film his shows, setting up chairs, ring, cage when he had cage matches, etc. I cut my teeth and paid my dues (which helped lean me toward locally promoting shows for WWA New England and EWA which was based in Maine back then) working for Sousa, and I learned a ton of knowledge from him.

He was also inducted into the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame back in 2013, link to that is here. https://youtu.be/TR2REHbWu-I

Here's a match from 1978 WWF where he and Well known wrestling personality John Arezzi teamed to face Dusty Rhodes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-iLA1XvTMU

Here, Sousa on one of his shows in  Manchester, new Hampshire, gives the late Walter 'Killer' Kowalski, an award. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eFJKJ73Kvs

Here'sa a match with Sousa facing the man who in the future would be known as The Missing Link, Dewey Robertson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrRZhjUPOeQ

Sousa vs Al Tomko in Vancouver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eccjerQZ-qM

Sousa would go on to hold the Canadian Championship that year as well.

And this one comes from a Night Of Legends Show in Wilmington, Mass. where Sousa turns on Captain Lou Albano, leading to a match against Damon D'Archangelo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y554VNtU3FY

And this is the match against D'Archangelo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iloz7qhpQ08

Finally, this was an article I wrote about my time working for Sousa in the AWF and how I actually got my break, thanks to Mr. Sousa. http://prowrestlingtapes.angelfire.com/awf.html

Sylvano Sousa helped many in the New England area and he will be missed by many.

THE UNDERTAKER DISCUSSES LONGEVITY OF HIS CHARACTER, ETC

The Undertaker appeared on Spain's Vibe & Wrestling, talking his Final Farewell this Sunday at the WWE Survivor Series.  Highlights from the appearance:

On a normal day of the retired Undertaker: "Yes, I obviously have a lot more free time than I used to. Now, at the end of October, I would normally be fully in my camp getting ready for WrestleMania, but now I don't have any of that. Now that my children are in school I have free time to train if I feel like it; I love to go hunting or fishing and all these kinds of things that I had to put aside for all these years because I was traveling around the world or preparing for an event. I'm still trying to find my place and trying to fill that void of not being in the stadiums."

On what are we going to see on “30 days of the Deadman”- "You will be able to take a look at the 30 years of existence of Undertaker in WWF / WWE, there is a Brothers of Destruction documentary, we have already seen the Untold documentary about the rivalry between Randy Orton and Undertaker. There are going to be things like that, in addition to tons of special content to reel off my thirty years and, of course, you will be able to know in depth other Superstars, their thoughts and how they are throughout different parts of their careers. If you are an Undertaker fan it will be great and if you are not it will be a very long month."

One more match at Survivor Series 2020?: "I don’t know yet what we are going to do although I can tell you for sure that I will be at Survivor Series. Who knows, never say never, but what you can be sure of is that I will be live at Survivor Series. So we just have to wait and see how things develop between now and November 22nd."

On the creative process of the Undertaker persona: "He had… he explained it to me beforehand. He had this pre-created character and he was just waiting for the right person to come along and he basically told me a couple of times that he needed a big guy with no personality that could wear a hat and a coat and basically that was it. But honestly, I don't think any of us could have envision the success and longevity of this character.   I'm extremely happy that I took that Undertaker from 1990 and held him all the way to 2020; There is nothing like it and I am very grateful to Vince, obviously, but also to all my fans around the world… my fans in Spain… without the fans and without their desire for this character and their support for him, we would not be having this conversation now. It does not depend only on me. I really appreciate that the fans have chosen me despite having had many other characters around and they were always by my side; when I injured myself, they injured themselves, when I got up they got up and I really appreciate all the people who have supported me throughout 3 decades… like you."

On how was the WWE locker room back in 1990: "In November 1990 I had only been in this business for a few years, I came from WCW and suddenly a young man like me finds himself surrounded by all these people: the Hulk Hogans and Ultimate Warriors, the Randy Savages ... the biggest names in our industry. Then basically I sit down and just say: "Hello, how are you sir?", "Yes sir" ... knowing my place. Back then people were a bit more reserved and they waited a bit until they met you. Basically we did not talk much, but I knew where I was, which was very low at the beginning, so I sat, watched and learned a lot from everything that was happening around me, especially in that first year when I said to myself: “Ok, I am going to take all this knowledge, because we have here many of the bests in the world and I am going to see how they do their business and the effort they put their matches ”, I was like a sponge trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible without trying to make a lot of noise and without pisssing anyone off."

On Old School wrestling vs. New School Wrestling: "That's a good question. I think athletes today are exactly that, amazing athletes in terms of what they can do physically, but what I think is that the disconnection or the problem is that they rely too much on their athletic ability and the things they can do in the ring instead of trying to develop the layers of their characters. I was talked to Bruce Prichard on the phone a couple of days ago and I told him how much I like the rivalry between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso, because it's an old-fashioned kind of rivalry. It is very easy to understand, especially if you are familiar with the Samoan heritage and linage and how proud Samoans are of family status, especially in this world of professional wrestling.  Understanding that and having two cousins who grew up together and are now fighting ... there are so many layers to this story that I think it's the closest thing to old school we've done in a long time and obviously they did a great job and it was an amazing match too. But I think the big difference is that you don't have those rich characters to believe in. A lot of people used to tell me: "I don't understand, were you dead or were you alive?" They were so committed to the character and I think that's the most important thing: the story and the character development. I think they all have twisted their priorities in what they are doing in the sense that they are so athletic and they have these amazing matches, that they should, but it's always about storytelling, the good versus the evil... that's what's really important and that's what makes people invested in what you do; it's always about the story."

THE UNDERTAKER DISCUSSES WHEN HE KNEW HE WAS DONE AS AN IN-RING COMPETITOR AND MORE

The Undertaker did an interview with The New York Post, discussing his final farewell at this year's Survivor Series, whether he will return for future matches, initial thoughts on his 1990 WWE Survivor Series debut and more.

He noted that he knew he was done as a performer when filming his Boneyard match against AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 36, noting, "I realized I have taken every physical gift, tool that I have and have used it up.  There’s no water left in the sponge, if I can use that analogy. I’ve rung everything I could get out of that sponge.”

Undertaker was also adamant that he wouldn't be using additional cinematic-style bouts to extend his WWE run, stating, "It really doesn't appeal to me because basically what it is, is working around my limitations.  It's capitalizing on some of my ability and some of my creative ability to tell a story but basically it's trying to mask some of the lack of my physical abilities at this point."

On his long run with the company, Undertaker commented, "Guys will have their run and then they’ll go somewhere else, they’ll go to Japan, they’ll go wherever or just take some time off, because you get burned out and obviously our fan base, sometimes there’s a flavor of the week. Once something new comes in the old kind of gets set aside. If you had told me, ‘yeah you’re gonna have a 30-year straight run with one company,’ I would have been like, ‘yea OK. If you say so.’”

On his returns over the years, Undertaker commented, “If Vince feels like there’s still something there, I have a place on the roster, then I had no problem doing it,” he said. “That’s where the internet and all that stuff kind of show up, ‘Just let him retire, just let him do this, let him do that.’ I’m a grown man. I can walk away anytime I want.”

Undertaker also noted that he wishes he had a chance to work with the current version of Bray Wyatt, saying their bout at Wrestlemania 31 could have been used as a catalyst for where The Fiend is now.

KEN RESNICK ON WHO COULD HAVE CARRIED PRO WRESTLING NATIONALLY IN THE '80s IF THERE WAS NO HOGAN, WHY TODAY'S PRO WRESTLING IS LIKE A CIRQUE SHOW

On a recent episode of Wrestling with History on VOC Nation, Ken Resnick talked about who could have carried the ball for WWF if Hulk Hogan hadn't jumped.  He also talked about the current product being like a Cirque du Soleil show, guaranteed contracts killing the business, and more.  Here are some highlights:

On guaranteed contracts hurting the business:  "In the old days guys used to sell because it made the matches better which made the houses better, which made everyone’s payoff better.  Now guys are generally working on guaranteed contracts – right now there are no houses it’s all television – but with the guaranteed contracts (the talent is) a little more concerned about their own image than the match."

On lack of car travel hurting chemistry:  "In the old days with the small towns guys would spend hours and hours together in cars going from town to town. It’s like anything; when you’re with someone, not only at the arena but in cars, at hotels, you develop a rapport and relationships are established.  And subconsciously you want to make sure your friend looks as good as you do in the match.  I think the combination of (both guaranteed contracts and car travel) being lost has resulted in a lack of selling."

On today's booking versus the 80s:  "It’s almost like the same philosophy as Cirque du Soleil where you want to keep the audience entertained every second.  (The fans) don’t really need to think about what they just saw they just enjoy (it) and (wait for) the next high spot.  That philosophy has almost taken over wrestling where (now) you never see someone just wearing down their opponent with a hold because today that would be considered absolutely boring.  It’s gotta be one entertainment moment after another after another… There’s got to be a way to mold the two of them together…there’s got to be a way to bring back the psychology of a match, and within that body of high spots and entertainment (to) get the fans themselves more invested not only in the talent but in the ongoing match itself.  That’s what’s (been lost that is) sad to me."

On mega stars not being built anymore: "Every angle back then…it was almost like there were more stars than not.  It was done through some squash matches on TV, but the booking was to build these stars that people wanted to buy a ticket and come see…They built huge stars, and now today it’s more the 50/50 booking along with a default position (built around the brand in general)… You’re not really building any mega stars.  Today it’s more of coming to see – prior to the pandemic – the brand as opposed to coming to see the stars."

On whether Andre the Giant could have carried WWE nationally:  "Andre could have been the face of the company if they used him sparingly.  (But) if you’re trying to undo all these unwritten rules of never treading on another territory and take this company national and generate the kind of TV ratings and revenue you want, you can’t use a face of the company sparingly.  To me that would have eliminated Andre.  He was a huge attraction and certainly people would have come to see him, but would they have come to see him a second time?... Andre was a hugely important piece, but I don’t think he could have been the man nationally."

On what attributes someone would have needed to play the role Hogan did:  "This takeover was happening prior to PPV.  You needed someone on their interviews who could sell tickets (and) get someone to come to the event.  Then you needed someone whose charisma would reinforce to people that they’re glad they came to see him.  And you needed someone who was still good enough in the ring during the match itself to produce a great match and product.  You really needed all three facets. "

On Sgt Slaughter:  "I do think Sarge could have.  His GI Joe gung ho interviews would have talked people into coming to the match.  He had the charisma coming to the ring.  He wasn’t a real high flyer but neither was Hulk… To this day Sgt Slaughter is the only real life character that actually was included in the GI Joe toys (and) the GI Joe movie… Kids would have been bugging their parents to take them to see Sgt Slaughter who they saw in the comic books, whose toys they were playing with, and who they saw in the movie.  I would say Sarge could have certainly carried it, not to the degree of Hulk."

On Ric Flair:  "If Hulk had not gone, I’m almost certain Vince would have gone after Ric Flair.  He had the interviews, he had the charisma, the robes when he came out, (and) what he was able to do in the ring.  If it had not been Hulk, I think Ric Flair could have done it.  Obviously he would have been a face, he would have been great.

NWA Womens Champion Serena Deeb Discusses The Future Of AEW And NWA Working Together

NWA Women's World Champion Serena Deeb defeated Allysin Kay on last night's AEW Full Gear: The Buy In. Deeb joined the post-show media scrum to discuss how she sees the women's divisions in AEW and NWA working together going forward.

"If you think back on pro wrestling, in the territory days, people were just swapping around, traveling here, working there, and working with different people," Deeb said. "When wrestling became really monopolized, it became separated, and I think to the detriment of the fans. 'So-and-so is here, so-and-so is there, you can't see that match.' As understandable as it is, this partnership between NWA and AEW is super powerful, and I think it's going to change wrestling. From a women's standpoint, I'm really excited about it.

"I think the AEW women's roster is really growing, and it has so much potential. With people coming in from the outside — when you're in wrestling, it only helps you to wrestle other people, other women, and other men. It just helps you the more you get in the ring with different people. You become a more well-rounded wrestler. I think with this partnership and different women coming in, and different women going elsewhere, it's going to benefit everybody. I think the fans are really excited about it, too, and it keeps it very interesting."

As noted, Kay — a former NWA Women's World Champion herself — announced she was a free agent, then showed up for AEW over the weekend. After Deeb defeated Kay, Thunder Rosa — the woman Deeb just beat for the title — came out to let Deeb know she wanted a rematch down the road.
