AEW Releases Jimmy Havoc And Bea Priestley

AEW has released Jimmy Havoc and Bea Priestley.

There had been speculation on AEW releasing Sadie Gibbs, Havoc and Priestley after their profiles were removed from the official AEW roster. Gibbs confirmed her departure on Twitter, as we noted before at this link. Now F4Wonline.com has confirmed the other two departures.

Priestley signed with AEW in February 2019 after turning down a WWE offer. She debuted at Fight for the Fallen on July 13 of last year, teaming with Shoko Nakajima to defeat Riho and Britt Baker. Priestley last wrestled on the March 11 Dynamite episode, teaming with Nyla Rose to defeat Kris Statlander and current Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida. It looked as if she was about to enter into a feud with Rose.

AEW issued a statement on Havoc back in June after a woman named Rebecca Crow, who bills herself on Twitter as an international stage performer and adult content creator, used the "#SpeakingOut" movement to accuse him of physical and mental abuse why they dated for several years. AEW noted then that they wished Havoc the best as he received treatment and counseling in an effort to overcome the mental health and substance abuse challenges in his life. Havoc signed with AEW in February 2019 and debuted in the 2019 Double Or Nothing Pre-show Battle Royal on May 25. He last wrestled on the June 17 Dynamite episode, teaming with Kip Sabian for a loss to The Young Bucks.

It's been said that Havoc likely would not be brought back due to allegations against him coming out of the "#SpeakingOut" movement, which is why he was suspended before undergoing treatment for some of his issues.

AEW President & CEO Tony Khan noted a few months back that he did not want to release anyone during the coronavirus pandemic, but that there would come a time where they would have to make cuts if people couldn't travel into the United States. It was also said that when you keep adding talent, at some point there has to be cuts.Gibbs and Priestley were released mainly due to their inability to get into the United States for TV tapings, and how it looks like that won't be changing any time soon. Gibbs was reportedly brought in as a project, in the sense that she wasn't ready but she was a great athlete with a good look.

Havoc, Priestley and Gibbs are all from the UK.

Like A Bad Story That Never Ends, Jeff Jarrett vs Anthem Lawsuit Continues With..

United States District Court of The Middle District of Tennessee Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw, Jr. ordered that Jeff Jarrett and Global Wrestling Entertainment sit down with Anthem Wrestling (the parent company of Impact Wrestling) for a settlement conference next month instead of the originally scheduled hearing to set a new trial date in the lawsuit Jarrett brought forth against Impact.

Jarrett's side requested a settlement conference for the two sides to come to the table and attempt to work out a deal to end the legal wranglings between the two sides, offering to be available anytime between 9/1-9/10.  Anthem responded that Ed Nordholm was not available on those dates but that they would be amenable to having a settlement conference after the scheduled hearing on 9/11 in Nashville to set a new trial date.

Instead, yesterday, Judge Waverly canceled the hearing and instructed the two sides to attempt to settle the matter.  The two sides have attempted to settle their issues previously but were unable to do so, leading to the original trial that ended up in a mistrial after a mixed verdict.  In a ruling issued by Waverly on 7/30,  the mistrial was declared due to, "...the Court’s failure to instruct on comparative negligence; the identity of the wrong entity in the verdict form on the counterfeiting claim; improper comments by Defendant’s counsel in opening statements; and improper statements by Plaintiffs’ counsel in closing arguments, all of which were discussed in detail in the Court’s oral ruling."

Neither Anthem nor Jarrett's attorneys have issued statements regarding the matter since the mistrial.

RING OF HONOR RETURNING TO TELEVISION PRODUCTION

Ring of Honor issued the following press release, that the company would return to in-ring action and TV production the weekend of 8/22 in Baltimore, Maryland:

RING OF HONOR TO RETURN TO TELEVISION PRODUCTION THIS MONTH IN MARYLAND

With the safety and health of talents, staff and production crew at the forefront, Ring of Honor Wrestling will return to producing new episodes of the “Ring of Honor Wrestling” television program this August 2020 in the home state of Maryland.

ROH will adhere to a very stringent protocol as well as the regulations set in place by the Maryland State Athletic Commission. ROH will be instituting the necessary testing and safety measures in a continued effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There will be no fans or staff who are not essential to the production present during these events.

“Taking care of our people during this difficult time has been and still is our No. 1 priority,” ROH Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff said. “That’s why we have spent many weeks working alongside the Maryland State commission in gearing towards our return to producing wrestling action. The strictest of protocols, testing and measures will be in place to assure us of this directive.”

Ring of Honor’s last events were the cancelled 18th Anniversary and Past vs Present shows in Las Vegas last March 13th and 14th. Since then, the company has opted to cease taping operations until there was a safe way to resume. These new tapings will pick up right where ROH left off with a focus on the ROH Pure Title Tournament, which had been originally scheduled for April.

UNITED WRESTLING NETWORK & NWA TO LAUNCH LIVE WEEKLY PPV SERIES THIS SEPTEMBER

Dave Marquez's United Wrestling Network and The National Wrestling Alliance will be launching a new, weekly 90-minute live PPV series titled United Wrestling Network's Primetime Live, airing on Tuesday nights from California's Thunder Studio on all PPV providers and FITE.TV.

The PPV series is slated to air Tuesday nights at 9 PM EST/6 Pacific, debuting 9/15.  We are told the expected weekly price for the PPV will be around $13-$15 per week.  We are told FITE.TV will offer a monthly subscription that covers all of the live events and VOD replays.  It will be the first attempt at a weekly PPV series since the early days of Impact Wrestling launched with weekly $9.99 PPVs, later morphing into a more traditional PPV model.

The primary booking team for the endeavor will be NWA Champion Nick Aldis, Marquez and Aron Stevens (aka the former Damian Sandow in WWE) and will effectively bring back fresh NWA content after the promotion paused production on NWA Powerrr.  Obviously, NWA President Billy Corgan will have a say in the NWA-centric content and matches.  One would think NWA Championship matches will be a major part of the presentation for the PPV series.

The Primetime Live PPV series will be presented in an empty arena setting with Thunder Studios setting the COVID-19 safety protocols, according to the press release issued today.

The Primetime Live PPV series will be the biggest undertaking in the history of Marquez's career in professional wrestling, which has included promoting events all over the world, including China and overseeing the United Wrestling Network's umbrella of "Championship Wrestling From..." promotions, most notably the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood series, which will resume production of new episodes later this month as well.

The official PPV series press release reads:

PRIMETIME LIVE IS COMING

Hollywood, CA (August 10, 2020) - United Wrestling Network (UWN), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and Thunder Studios today announced that they will partner to launch an all-new, live weekly professional wrestling pay-per-view series on national cable / satellite television and streaming on FITE. “United Wrestling Network’s Primetime LIVE” is set to be 90-minutes of hard-hitting, can't miss action, premiering Tuesday Sept. 15 at 9P EST and will originate LIVE from Thunder’s Long Beach Studios. This unprecedented new series will be a grand showcase of acclaimed talent and competitors from all regions and different promotions across the globe in their quest to settle real-life feuds and attain championship glory – with an emphasis on the NWA and UWN Championships. Each week on UWN: Primetime LIVE anything can happen, in the ring and behind-the-scenes.

“I’m pleased that we are finally able to announce some good news, and in partnering with United Wrestling Network we’ll be able to get back to work with what promises to be top-tier matchups, and soon. It goes without saying that 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, and our goal in re-establishing in-ring NWA action was to make sure that our talent would be protected working within the now established safety protocols, as well as delivering consistent, high quality content like our vaunted shows NWA POWERRR, and ‘Ten Pounds of Gold’. But this will be more than just a weekly, live PPV broadcast, as we plan on shooting additional content for the NWA YouTube channel and our Patreon subscribers. My goal here is simple: to provide the best contests possible with the greatest talent available, carrying on the great legacy of the National Wrestling Alliance as an independent governing body. And in that we hope to feature at least one championship match on every live broadcast.” states NWA Owner, William Patrick Corgan.

“To me, ‘UWN: Primetime LIVE’ is a pro wrestling fan's dream come true. I’ve always wanted to produce a joint program that would feature the baddest and best pro wrestlers from different promotions on the same broadcast. This fan first way of thinking should allow us to present match-ups that you might not normally ever see on weekly television. There may be a time when you see someone from Championship Wrestling from Hollywood go against someone from Chicago’s Freelance Wrestling, or even fighters out of the NJPW LA Dojo versus West Coast Pro Wrestling. A major goal we have is to take newer up-and-coming athletes and present them in a way that hasn’t been done on a nationally televised show before. With this incredible new platform and opportunity to let the greatest talent shine on a worldwide stage, we are poised to create new superstars! Factor in the NWA Champions and the stars of NWA POWERRR and beyond, all converging for some of the most exciting programming possible. In my 30 years in both television production and promoting wrestling, this project will be the biggest of my career.” said UWN: Primetime LIVE Executive Producer David Marquez.

The health and safety of our athletes, cast, staff and crew are extremely important to us and we’ll be following Thunder Studio’s COVID-19 protocol. Every member of this production will undergo testing, temperature checks and all other local and national medical requirements. UWN: Primetime LIVE will utilize Thunder’s Zoning System identifying parts of the studio where we are authorized to enter. We will also have an onsite physician to supervise all testing. To learn more about Thunder Studio’s COVID-19 protocols please visit http://www.thunderstudios.com/news/thunder-studios-covid-19-safe-ready-open- .

This broadcast will be available in Spanish. In the coming weeks we will have more information available including the matchmaking and the levels and methods to purchasing this new series. For more information on the National Wrestling Alliance please visit NationalWrestlingAlliance.com and follow them @NWA. United Wrestling Network information can be found at UnitedWrestlingTV.com and @unitedWrestling or @CWFHollywood.

JAMES 'KAMALA' HARRIS PASSES AWAY AT AGE 70

James Harris, who is best known for his run in WWE and Memphis as Kamala, has passed away at the age of 70.

Jerry Lawler was among the first to report Kamala’s death. WWE has also confirmed the news. Harris had suffered a number of health issues in recent years, including having both legs amputated due to high blood pressure and diabetes.

Harris started wrestling in 1978 under the name “Sugar Bear” Harris. It wasn’t until his run in the Memphis territory in 1982 where he debuted the Kamala, the Ugandan Headhunter gimmick.

Kamala made appearances in WWE in 1984, then in 1986-87. It was here that Kim Chee was designated as his manager, and faced Hulk Hogan on multiple occasions for the WWE title.

After another stint in Memphis, he returned to the WWE in 1992 with Harvey Whippleman serving as his manager. After a feud with The Undertaker, he turned face, abandoning Whippleman and Kim Chee for Reverend Slick, who managed Kamala until he left the WWE towards the end of 1993.

Kamala would appear sporadically throughout the 90s and 2000s in WCW, Memphis, and later the WWE, with one of his final high-profile matches being a match against Umaga on a 2006 episode of Raw

Matches:
•World Heavyweight Title Fight: Satoshi Kojima (Champion) vs. Vampiro
•#1 Contenders Match for the World Heavyweight Title: Mike Awesome vs. Jerry Lynn
•Super Crazy vs. Fuego Guerrera vs. Christopher Daniels

This week the biggest prize in MLW is on the line, as Satoshi Kojima has his eyes and his lariat pointed towards one of Mexico’s all-time greatest, Vampiro.

The top challenger for the World Heavyweight Title has been the target of numerous messages from the mysterious Raven, but will have to shift his focus from the enigmatic Raven to the man that has taken MLW by storm, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Satoshi Kojima.

Will Vampiro be able to dethrone Kojima and end Kojimania? Or will the man with a lariat that hits harder than a cinder block be able to remain World Heavyweight Champion?
Whoever walks out of this match better have eyes in the back of their head because two of the best wrestlers in the world are facing off to be the one that challenges next for that World Heavyweight Crown.

It will be the man who fell to Kojima in the world championship finals, Jerry Lynn, battling a man known as a gladiator, the master of the Awesome Bomb, and one of the most destructive forces in pro wrestling, Mike Awesome.

Three of the most dynamic athletes in MLW face off in our opening contest, as Fuego Guerrera and Super Crazy meet for the second week in a row on MLW Underground, but this time, “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels has inserted himself into what will be a memorable triple threat bout.

MARTY JANNETTY TALKS MORE ABOUT HIS ALLEGED MURDER CONFESSION

One day after claiming (and then deleting) that he had murdered someone when he was 13 years old, Marty Jannetty discussed his confession further and stated that he was defending himself against a sexual predator.

Jannetty appeared on Boston Wrestling's YouTube channel to discuss his social media claims.  You can find the complete show at this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaYnrqZVc0E

During the 20 minute discussion, Jannetty stated that when he was 13, a front desk clerk at Victory Lanes, a bowling alley in Columbus, Georgia attempted to rape him.  Jannetty, who was working at the bowling alley at the time, stated that he knew the person was known for selling weed (which is why Jannetty went to see him) but didn't know the same person "lured" children.

Jannetty claimed that he was allegedly fondled inside the person's car and when he tried to get out, the clerk got angry.  Jannetty stated that he was pulled out of the car into an alley and had his pants pulled down, but was able to grab a brick and strike the clerk before he could be sexually assaulted anally.  Jannetty stated that the person didn't deserve to die but "deserved to get his a** beaten."

Jannetty also stated he didn't intend for the person to die.

On his Facebook post, Jannetty claimed the body was disposed of in The Chattahoochee River.  On the Boston Wrestling broadcast, Jannetty stated how the trauma of nearly being raped, killing someone and then throwing the person in the river and "finding out on the news the dude's missing" badly affected him.

While Jannetty has been known to make some outlandish statements on social media and has not been in the best of health in recent years, police in Georgia have opened an investigation into Jannetty's claims, according to TMZ.

Jannetty is now 60, so if his claim of the incident happening when he was 13 is true, the alleged murder would have taken place in 1973.    The Georgia Bureau of Investigations' website does not currently list any unsolved murders prior to 1980.

Jannetty's claims are starting to be picked up locally by the mainstream media in Georgia as well. Link to that is here. https://www.wtvm.com/2020/08/06/ex-wwe-superstar-columbus-native-may-have-just-admitted-s-murder/

Did Marty Janetty Admit He Murdered Someone?

Earlier today the following was posted on Marty Janetty's Facebook page.

Winnie is apparently the woman that Jannetty has been in a relationship with. He told another fan in a comment that they had a falling out. Jannetty again commented on the alleged murder and said he has the satisfaction of knowing the man never hurt another kid

"Me and Winnie just had a fall out," Jannetty wrote back to the fan who asked if he was OK. "But, if you're asking bout the other thing..yes, that was a billion years ago, plus, I have the satisfaction of knowing that b---h ass n*nja never got to do another kid like that.."

For what it's worth, Jannetty was born in Columbus, Georgia and the Chattahoochee River runs through that area. Jannetty was born in February 1960, so he would have turned 13 in 1973. The Vietnam War officially ended in April 1975, but troops were returning at various times before that. There are also records of a Victory Lanes Family Bowling Center in Columbus at some point. The facility once sat on Fort Benning Road, which is right next to the Chattahoochee River.

Jannetty has deleted the Facebook post (I just bet he did, LOL).

TMZ is now reporting that the Columbus, GA Police Department has opened an investigation into the claim.
