OTT Wrestling Loses Their Wrestling School

Over The Top Wrestling announced on April 17 that they lost their wrestling school.

Joey Cabray wrote on social media that the landlord was unwilling to work with the promotion.

Cabray wrote, "Today we lost our school, a landlord unwilling to work with us in any form. This school meant so much to the scene, trainees and trainers. We will be back with a new and better location soon."

NXT UK star Jordan Devlin explained more about the situation. Devlin was the first OTT World Champion.

"Landlord refused to accept anything less than 100% of the rent we usually pay," explained Devlin. "In a time he knows it's impossible to earn that rent. I'm glad we're moving, glad we're not giving a man like that any more money. The building isn't the school, it's the people in it. We'll go again."

NXT UK stars Killer Kelly and Flash Morgan Webster also replied to the news.

As noted in March, OTT had to cancel their Scrappermania 6 event due to the coronavirus pandemic. The main event that was scheduled was AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. OTT Champion David Starr.

Former Indie Student And Wrestling Champion Expelled For Racist Video (Updated)

I've heard of some really dumb shit to do, but THIS.. Ranks in the top five of dumb shit you just DON'T DO.. ESPECIALLY.. When you in a wrestling school that has other races and the school has students of other races.

Credit goes to Black Wrestling Alliance for breaking this story.

In a TikTok trend, usually comedic, where people pretend to play God and make a certain type of person/people and use personality traits as 'ingredients', pro wrestling student Jay Hunter (real name Jeffery Humes) and friend Stephanie Freeman, a senior at Carrollton High School in Georgia decided to make "niggers". (video link is below)
https://www.facebook.com/jermaine.mcfarland.39/videos/1627610617386574/

Humes, is a former student and recent champion of the WWA4 Wrestling School in Atlanta, Georgia, a school run by indy wrestling icon, AR Fox and wife Ayla (Ashley) Fox. Ironically, the school has helped produce a number of the best black talent in professional wrestling today including; Ring of Honor's Jonathan Gresham, IMPACT Wrestling's Moose and Kiera Hogan and WWE's Apollo Crews, and has seen many of its most recent graduates appear on WWE and AEW in recent weeks during the current pandemic; Shawn Dean, Alan Angels and Lee Johnson have all appeared on All Elite Wrestling while on WWE former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion, Leon Ruff faced Aleister Black and rising star and former EVOLVE, WWN and FIP Champion Austin Theory made his WrestleMania debut just over a week ago. NXT referees Aja Smith and D.A. Brewer are also former students.

WWA4 have made a direct statement on the situation via social media saying that they have terminated Humes' membership with immediate effect!

Here's the worst part, and shows you, what a fucking moron this Humes is.. He's in pictures with other wrestlers and staff of this school who are black, Proof right here of that.

But yet, he chooses to go and make a dumb ass video, showing what a dumb ass he really is, and as a result of that dumb ass move? He's no longer in  the school and will I'm sure.. Have a hard time getting future bookings because of this.

Good going moron.. Hope that dumb ass stunt was worth it. Or maybe, maybe.. Those were your true colors finally coming out? Either way you've busted as a dumb ass racist. I hope you're fucking proud of yourself, dip shit..

Alongside the above promotion, Victory Wrestling Association revealed they cut ties with him via their Facebook company page.

WWE'S HOWARD FINKEL PASSES AWAY AT 69 YEARS OLD

One of the most recognizable voices in wrestling history has passed away as WWE announced Thursday that Hall-of-Fame ring announcer Howard Finkel has died at 69 years old.

No cause was given for his death, but his health condition had worsened in recent years.

Finkel was WWE's first employee after being hired by Vince McMahon Sr. in 1975 for the then-WWWF. The voice of Madison Square Garden house shows, he eventually became the company's primary ring announcer until 2000 when Lillian Garcia and Tony Chimel took over on Raw and SmackDown, respectively. By the mid 2000s, he was taken off pay-per-views and did mainly voiceovers with occassional appearances throughout the years on various shows while remaining employed as a WWE historian.

Through the years, Finkel got involved in several in-ring angles including one with Harvey Wippleman that culminated in a tuxedo match on Raw and another where he lost to Garcia in a tuxedo/evening gown match, also on Raw.

He also came up with the name "WrestleMania."

He was inducted into the WWE Hal of Fame in 2009 and the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame in 2018.

Another Example Of Why Some People Shouldn't Run A Wrestling "Efed".

Another example of why I need to stay away from fantasy wrestling, called 'efeds'. The guys who run these today really have no clue to properly run them and they think burying a guy with a 'constant losing streak' is a 'bigger picture'. The truth is and I pointed it out with a few other valid points, I did a better job at 'hyping the match' than the guys i was facing. So much so that the two other guys i was facing didn't even try and reply back to it. They knew they couldn't top it but for some reason this efed owner doesn't want to see valid points and can't seem to conceive the fact that people with issues bringing the issues to efed owner comes with the territory, which shows he really doesn't have what it takes to be an 'efed owner'. I have the promo in question that surely put me over the top for a 'win' on YouTube so I'll post the link so you can why, the others wouldn't and couldn't even try and retaliate or answer it.

Sheriff's Deputies Called To WWE PC Over COVID-19 Order

The Orange County Sheriff's Department reportedly visited the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL several times over the last few weeks, in March and April, to tell the company that it was not in compliance with the "stay-at-home" Executive Order issued by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and that they had to shut the tapings down, according to Orlando reporters Jon Alba and Stephanie Coueignoux.

Alba reports that Orange County deputies were called again on Monday regarding the live RAW that aired on the USA Network. However, the new Executive Order from DeSantis, signed on April 9, already allowed for WWE to continue operations as an essential business. There's no word on who was calling the sheriff's department or how many calls they received since March. Coueignoux said deputies told her that on Monday "someone called to say there would be taping at the location that evening" and they responded to the Performance Center again before RAW, but the April 9 order allowed WWE to continue.

As noted, Governor DeSantis issued an amended Executive Order this past Thursday, April 9, that deemed WWE an essential business, allowing them to stay in business.

The full memo from the Division of Emergency Management, from the amended Executive Order from DeSantis, allows WWE and other sports-related businesses to resume operations. The amended order, issued to the Florida Division of Emergency Management from DeSantis and State Coordinating Officer Jared Moskowitz, includes the following:

As Director of the Division of Emergency Management, designated the State Coordinating Officer per Executive Order 20-52 for the public health emergency (COVID-19), in accordance with Executive Order 20-91 I approve the following as additions to the list of "essential services" for the purposes of that Executive Order:
1. Employees at services and programs addressing metal health, substance abuse, domestic violence and other urgent counseling, to the extent those services may be offered within social distancing guidelines.

2. Employees at theme park and entertainment complexes, zoological parks and facilities, and aquarium facilities, all of which are closed to the general public, who are necessary for: (a) ensuring the health, safety and security of persons, animals, and property (b) maintaining the value of inventory; (c) preserving plant, property and equipment condition; (d) maintaining regulatory compliance; (e) processing payroll and employee benefits; (f) facilitating the availaility of employees working remotely; and (g) other activities otherwise necessary to preserve and maintain the facilities.

3. Employees at a professional sports and media production with a national adience - including any athletes, entertainers, production team, executive team, media team and any others necessary to facilitate including services supporting such production - only if the location is closed to the general public.

That last item would apparently allow WWE and AEW to continue taping in the state of Florida, on closed sets, as they have national audiences. There's no word yet on if this means AEW will return to Daily's Place in Jacksonville, or if they will remain in Norcross, GA for their next set of tapings. They reportedly have enough content to run through mid-May.

Alba noted that DeSantis commented on WWE at a press conference today.

DeSantis said he feels the people need to support events if they can be done safely like NASCAR, and Woods-Mickelson. The Governor said, "Obviously WWE, there's no crowd or anything, so it's a very small number of people. So we just look at it at a case by case basis."

DeSantis was also asked specifically about essential businesses being given the OK to operate and WWE was used as the example, according to Alba. It was noted that DeSantis briefly touched the topic, then spoke at length on other sports he'd like to see back operating in the Sunshine State, emphasizing their importance. He then walked off the podium. Alba stressed that the amended order means just about any Florida sports league can resume operations now, but they're choosing not to. The NBA's Orlando Magic could hold a scrimmage game tomorrow if they wanted to.

We noted on Monday that Orange County, FL Mayor Jerry Demings revealed at a press conference how WWE was originally deemed non-essential, but that was changed after "some conversation" with DeSantis' officer in regards the stay-at-home order. Demings said then WWE was allowed to remain open, but he did not mention other sports leagues being included in that amended order. As noted in a later report on Monday, spokesperson from DeSantis office told ESPN on Monday evening that such services were deemed essential "because they are critical to Florida's economy."

Regarding Monday's press conference held by Orange County Mayor Demings, it was noted that county officials are the ones that originally deemed WWE to be an unessential business, after a review. That was overturned by DeSantis' office with the amended Executive Order, which allowed all sports leagues to continue, as mentioned above.

HHMM, Isn't THIS Quite Convenient - FLORIDA DEEMING WWE 'ESSENTIAL' DRAWS CRITICISM, POLITICAL TIES EXAMINED

Florida governor Ron DeSantis' decision to deem "professional sports and media production with a national audience" as essential businesses, clearing the path for WWE, AEW, and UFC to run events, drew criticism Tuesday with Linda McMahon coming into focus.

WWE resumed their regular weekly TV schedule at the Orlando, FL, Performance Center Monday, just three days after Vince McMahon changed his mind on the doorstep of a multi-day taping that would have covered the company for weeks.

Questions were raised at how they were able to make that decision given the state's previous order that only essential businesses remain open. On Monday, that was answered as it was revealed the state government issued a memo on April 9th that all professional sports could return to business if the location was closed to the public.

Coverage of the decision was featured in a variety of news outlets that don't normally cover wrestling like CNBC, The Guardian, USA Today, and more.

Stephanie Coueignoux and Jon Alba of Central Florida's Spectrum News 13 performed a further investigation into the situation Tuesday, noting that the Orange County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the PC in both March and April, advising WWE they were not in compliance and would have to close down. Days later, pro sports, including WWE, ere added to the essential business list.

However, Spectrum News 13, providing a timeline, found that the change of heart came on the same day as a pro-President Donald Trump super PAC (political action committee) announced that they were going to spend $18.5 million in both the Tampa and Orlando markets. That super PAC is headed up by Linda McMahon, Vince McMahon's wife, and the former head of Trump's Small Business Administration. DeSantis has been known as an ally of Trump, a WWE Hall-of-Famer and friends with Vince.

Vince's decision to resume live WWE programming at the PC happened the next day.

In a statement to Spectrum 13, DeSantis' office said WWE was critical to Florida's economy and the employees at those locations benefit. WWE was set to hold WrestleMania in Tampa this year, generating millions for the local economy, before having to move it to the PC.

While no make-good for WrestleMania has been announced, Tampa could be a fallback option if WWE is unable to hold next year's event in Los Angeles, CA, as previously scheduled due to lingering issues related to the pandemic.

On Tuesday afternoon, Trump said at a press conference that Vince and UFC president Dana White would join a group of sports commissioners in helping figure out how to get things "re-opened" in the country.

Get... A Load Of THIS Bullshit- FLORIDA OFFICIAL CONFIRMS WWE DEEMED 'ESSENTIAL BUSINESS'

At a press conference today, Orange County (Florida) mayor Jerry Demings was asked how WWE is still able to run shows despite the state's stay-at-home order.

"I think initially there was a review that was done and they were not initially deemed an essential business. With some conversation with the governor's office regarding the governor's order, they were deemed an essential business. And so therefore, they were allowed to remain open," Demings said.

Demings said that -- because of HIPAA laws --  he doesn't know the specifics associated with the person in WWE who tested positive for COVID-19. “But that’s like a little family," Demings said. "A small family of professional athletes that wrestle. And if one of my family members tested positive in my house, that would be concerning to me. We would have to make some provisions in my house to make sure that the rest of us not get infected. So I would assume that -- from a business perspective -- the WWE is doing that type of analysis of its own family.”

The person in WWE who tested positive for COVID-19 is an on-air talent but not a member of the in-ring roster. Over the weekend, WWE issued a statement about the positive test: "A WWE employee has tested positive for COVID-19. We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE’s TV production on a closed set was already complete. The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery.”

WWE is resuming live television broadcasts from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida starting with tonight's Raw.

MLW Fusion #105: Alex Hammerstone vs. Laredo Kid | MLW AAA Super Series

Matches:
•MLW National Openweight Title Match: Alexander Hammerstone vs. Laredo Kid
•Barrio Street Fight: Mance Warner & Savio Vega vs. Pagano & Mortiz
•Plus more!

The MLW AAA Super Series Begins!

Experience history in the making as AAA hosts the first ever Super Series from Tijuana, Mexico!

Featuring both organization’s top athletes, witness two organizations clash with national pride and championship gold on the line in a spectacular summit south of the border.

Tijuana could very well become title town as MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone defends his title against AAA’s electrifying Laredo Kid.

Fresh off of last week’s shocking main event where Mance Warner swept MJF out of MLW, the Dynasty’s Alex Hammerstone looks to drop the hammer and reverse the Dynasty’s downward momentum.

Can Hammerstone get the Dynasty’s mojo back as he looks for a successful ninth defense of the Openweight title?

Or will AAA’s Laredo Kid conquer Muscle Mountain and win the title in Mexico?  The stakes are high in the first main event of the Super Series.

Mance Warner rolls up with Savio Vega as the duo represent MLW in an anything goes Barrio Street Fight against AAA’s wildest luchadores.

For weeks fans have been haunted by the unsettling messages sent by Pagano which have aired on FUSION.  Now the 6’2” strange, sinister man makes his debut as he teams with Mortiz against Warner and Vega.

After being brutally assaulted by Injustice, Alicia Atout promise to have an exclusive on Brian Pillman Jr.

Will Psycho Clown accept Los Parks’ Super Series challenge? Tune in to find out!

“Filthy” Tom Lawlor has a message for the Von Erichs as the captain of Team Filthy continues to make big moves, with the Team Filthy/American Top Team merger.

Plus, AAA Co-Founder Konnan is in the house and more!

Join Rich Bocchini, AJ Kirsch and Alicia Atout from Tijuana for a night of top ranked action.
