Sean Waltman On Marty Scurll Possibly Fixing ROH's Recent "Lackluster" TV Product

WWE Hall of Famer, Sean 'X-PAC' Waltman, took to his X-Pac 1, 2, 360 podcast to discuss the recent re-signing of Ring Of Honor star, Marty Scurll. Waltman believes that this is a huge move in the world of pro wrestling because regardless of where Scurll would have ended up, it would have brought about a positive change.
"Marty is a smart guy, I am sure he weighed his options very carefully," Waltman said. "And it was an incredibly important decision to make at this time in wrestling because if he goes to AEW and he's on that stage, he could make a difference wherever he goes.
"He chose to stay there… [ROH] has some good talent there. Marty's there, I am a fan of Brody King, and some other guys there."
"But I turn the [ROH] TV on, I watch their TV show and I am like, 'What's going on here?' [There are] lackluster matches. I am not trying to s--t on their product because I root for them but when I watched ROH recently, I didn't feel that feeling that I usually feel," Waltman explained. "It didn't have that vibe, that flavor. When you used to think of ROH, that was the 5-star match factory.
"I hope it changes because I root for them. And thank God for that company because half the main roster in WWE that's making that money now came from there. So I am hoping they listen to Marty because Marty's got fresh eyes, fresh thoughts."

Konnan Gets Punk Slapped (And Doesn't Do Shit About It).. UPDATED!!!!

Here's the link to the video. https://www.facebook.com/LuchaMundial...

Konnan gets slapped and didn't do shit but take it, like a bitch. Didn't even try, and
fight back.

Konnan was confronted by the second man to play Psicosis, who took over the persona after
the original one went to America and slapped Konnan. Apparently Konnan had said some things online
about the second Psicosis and now, he had to answer for it.

Mexico City yesterday. Lucha Blog described what led to the situation: “Last month, the second Psicosis (***NOT THE WCW ONE***) was asked why he isn't on AAA TV right now. He said it was a Konnan issue, wouldn't be back until Konnan was gone. Konnan fired back that if Psicosis was so deserving, why couldn't he get a job in another big place? Psicosis II said he'd see Konnan in January to continue this discussion in person. Psicosis meant the show he was promoting in Leon, but instead ended (unmasked) at tonight's Impact tapings in Mexico City. Psicosis II demanded Konnan say the same things to his face. Konnan didn't want to talk to Psicosis. So, Psicosis slapped Konnan and dared him to fight. The video is all over Mexican wrestling sites tonight. Nothing more came of it. Konnan wasn't getting into a street fight. Psicosis II calmed down enough to walk away after a minute. Most didn't immediately even realize it was him unmasked but the tattoos gave it away. Konnan was apparently asked about the incident by the press there to cover the Impact taping and said it was no big deal.”

No big deal except he got punked slapped, and bitched up right then and there.

I Thought ACH Proclaimed He 'Retired' From Pro Wrestling, Looks Like He's Lied :)

He said it all over Twitter that he's retired because of how he 'feels" he's been treated.

If that's the case, then I'd love to see how he tries to dodge and deflect his way around, THIS.

  • AAW on 1/24 in Chicago at the Logan Square Auditorium has Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett vs. Curt Stallion & Jake Something for the AAW tag titles, Hakim Zane vs. Paco for the AAW Heritage title, Jordan Oliver vs.. Jake Lander, ACH (who I guess isn't retired) vs. Fred Yehi, Jessicka Havok & Kimber Lee vs. Hyan & Savanna Stone, Willie Mack vs. AR Fox, Sami Callihan & Jake Crist vs. Juventud Guerrera & Aramis plus Killer Kross, Nate Webb, Air Wolf, Angel Dorado, and more.
Don't you love how idiots say one thing, then do another? LOL.

Allysin Kay Rips Tessa Blanchard's Statement About Recent Controversy

Last weekend, Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard commented on Twitter, "Hey women, try supporting one another. Cool things happen." On Sunday, Blanchard won the title against Sami Callihan at Impact Hard to Kill, making her the first woman to hold the title.

After her tweet, NWA World Women's Champion Allysin Kay brought up an incident between Blanchard and La Rosa Negra while in Japan.

"Remember when you spat in a black woman's face and called her the N-word in Japan? Was that you 'supporting women'? The AUDACITY of this tweet."

Blanchard originally said it was "not true," and loosely commented about it after Sunday's Hard to Kill PPV. After Kay's tweet, numerous other women's wrestlers, including NXT star Chelsea Green, commented on their negative experiences with Blanchard.

Although initially advertised to speak at Impact Media Day last Saturday, Blanchard was pulled from the event. Blanchard was also removed from an upcoming Heavy Metal Wrestling show in light of the allegations.

Two days ago, the Impact World Champion issued a statement:

"Over the last week, I have been accused of calling a fellow wrestler a racial slur," Blanchard wrote. "To read this allegation has been personally upsetting. To be clear, I absolutely did not use that word. That word is not in my vocabulary. That word is not in my heart. Racism is not in my heart.

"Yet I know many people have to deal with racism in a way I will never have to. Racism is an awful part of American history, and it is equally awful that it's still part of our society today. While I did not do what was claimed, I stand ready to use my platform to support the fight against racism however I can."

Kay has since responded to Blanchard's latest statement, "You can try to babyface the fans, but the majority of our peers know Rosa's story is true and that's what matters. I really hope that one day the other two witnesses of this incident come forward and further expose you as not only a racist, but a liar and an undeniable scumbag."

As noted, La Rose Negra commented earlier this week about what happened.

Big Show Talks Getting Chewed Out By The Undertaker During His Early WWE Days

Two weeks ago, Big Show returned to RAW as the mystery partner for Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens' match against Seth Rollins and AOP. Big Show had been out of action since late 2018, and went through five surgeries before being able to make his in-ring return.

Since his comeback, Big Show spoke with Sports Illustrated about a wide range of topics, including how working in WCW compared to WWE. He also relived getting critiqued by The Undertaker on a nightly basis during his early years in WWE.

From 1995 until February 1999, Big Show—then known as The Giant—spent his days in WCW. That same month in 1999, he signed a ten-year contract with WWE, and quickly realized the worlds of WCW and WWE were wildly different.

"It was a lot different in WCW, which had guaranteed contracts," Big Show recalled. "WWE was a shark tank, it was competitive. It wasn't a locker room where everyone went to Chipotle after the show together. People legitimately didn't like each other.

"I was so young in WCW, I was 22, 23 years old at the beginning. The only other young guy was Alex Wright. Macho, Hulk, Flair, Paul Orndorff, they were all in their 40s or older. It was like I was everybody's kid brother. And I made a lot of mistakes back then. My real training happened when I got to work with Undertaker."

That training came in the form of Undertaker critiquing Big Show after each of his matches during WWE's live tours.

"I used to come through the Gorilla position after a match against Undertaker on our live tours, and Undertaker would be there waiting for me," Big Show said. "He'd wave me over with that crooked finger, and he'd chew out my ass for the next 15 minutes.

"This happened night after night. It seemed like I couldn't do anything right, no matter what I tried. And I'm a little more hard-headed than most, so it took me a while, but a lot of the lessons I learned from Undertaker put me in a position now where I can help a lot of people not make the same mistakes I made."

Tim Storm On What Makes Nick Aldis So Successful As NWA World Champion, Their On Air Chemistry

This week on the TMPT Empire's flagship interview podcast, the NWA's Tim Storm joined the show to discuss the upcoming Hard Times event-taking place on January 24th available on FITE. The former NWA World Champion took the time to discuss his phenomenal success over the last few years as the NWA has returned to prominence but also put a strong emphasis on the work of Nick Aldis as a main contributing factor to the brand growing in such a large way. In this excerpt from the interview, Storm details the chemistry between the two on air and just how confident he is in Aldis as a leader of the company.

Nick Aldis leading the NWA:

"I don't want to rant and rave too much about him because we are a little bit at odds right now programming wise and as far as we are at in our TV stuff but I know that they picked the right guy. In my mind at least on the purchase and in my mind at least they were going to bring in somebody that they were familiar with and comfortable with and there would probably be a title change pretty quickly and I'm out at 53 years old. They actually went in just the opposite direction. Nick, he really is the complete package and look at what he's done and I don't mean his history, I mean his NWA run.

"He's everything. He is surprisingly big for anybody who's never been around him, I am a big guy and I'm probably not 6' 3" anymore as I continue to get older but 6' 3" two hundred and fifty pounds and he's got two inches on me in height, he's got the British background as far as technical wrestling and one of the set ups to his finish is coming off the top rope and you don't see too many guys at 6' 5" hit that elbow like he does. His conditioning is phenomenal and look at what he's done on promos because he's carried this promotion.

"He's been the face of the franchise, he's had the tittle twice and he's worked both sides, which is basically to me what an NWA World Champion does. You do whatever you've got to do on any given night to continue to be that champion. He got rave reviews walking out there for the first ten episodes and everybody was cheering him and now he's flipped it and he almost couldn't cut a promo the other night because they wouldn't stop booing him. He's working both sides and doing a fantastic job. Man, I've got to stop raving because at some point I've got to punch him in the mouth."

The Strong On-Air Chemistry They Have:

"I think we feel that too sometimes. In most cases we are going out there and it's just we are going. We don't rehearse, we don't do anything and sometimes I have to kind of as the face throttle it back and make sure that you know when he's hard to top on a promo. When we are interacting and we are going back and forth, I won't say all of that is true emotion all the time but all of that is pure interaction with very little knowing what we are going to do and what we are going to say and I definitely feel the chemistry when we are doing that."

Can Ricky Morton Win Ten Pounds Of Gold From Nick Aldis | NWA 2020

Ricky Morton earned a chance to fight for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship this past week on #NWAPowerrr. The backstory between Nick Aldis and Ricky Morton started with a comment that Morton (of the Rock N Roll Express) stated that NickA Aldis had a long way to go to match up with Ric Flair and Harley Race. The man currently holding #TenPoundsOfGold took exception to this and lead to the confrontation on NWA Power. With the debut of Strictly Business and using Scott Steiner as a surrogate, the National Treasure Nick Aldis believed he was in control to put down the Rock N Roll Express one last time. Now this Tuesday @ 6:05pm, Ricky Morton gets one last chance to challenge for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship the he came so close to winning back in the 1980s.

Baron Corbin Takes Shot At AEW Dynamite (And He Wasn't Wrong)

It appears as though Baron Corbin was scouting the competition last night.
The WWE star tuned into AEW Dynamite and tweeted about the opening segment. The show opened up with a tag title number one contender bout featuring The Young Bucks, Best Friends, Santana and Ortiz and Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. The latter team won, with the Young Bucks confronting them afterward.
Corbin mocked the pace of the match and how it was booked on Twitter, using an image of a member of Team America: World Police throwing up.
"Winner gets a title shot so.....forget covers, everybody get pops, spot spot spot dive dive dive spot spot spot spot dive dive dive dive spot dive spot dive spot group spot group spot dive, get your s--t in, neck beards "this is awesome""
Corbin did not provide any other feedback of the show following that bout. You can check out his tweet below:

Impact Wrestling Banned From Twitch Over Racy Rob Van Dam - Katie Forbes Segment

While Impact Wrestling had a lot of buzz this week (No, they really didn't)  coming off of their Hard to Kill PPV, they are facing some issues with their Twitch channel. The company's channel for the streaming platform was issued a ban on Wednesday evening (h/t to @StreamerBans).
One of the reasons for the ban could have been a segment on this week's show with Rob Van Dam, Katie Forbes and Jennifer Barlow. The segment featured RVD bragging about his PPV wins over Brian Cage and Daga at Hard to Kill. During the celebration, Forbes and her girlfriend joined him for a celebration, using whipped cream to cover their bodies (with several parts blurred out) while also making out with one another. You can watch the video above.
The trio have posted racy photos and videos in the past, with Forbes stating that she was married to Van Dam and that Barlow was their girlfriend (h/t to Daily Wrestling News).
The segment might have violated Twitch's guidelines regarding sexual content on its service, which states:
"We restrict content that involves nudity or is sexual in nature, and are committed to ensuring that Twitch is not used for sexual exploitation or violence... While we understand that some nudity or sexual content might be intended for educational, scientific, artistic, newsworthy, or academic purposes, we restrict this content due to the diversity in age and cultural backgrounds of our global community. We may, in limited educational and artistic contexts, make pre-approved exceptions to these policies."
It is not known when the ban will be lifted for Impact. The company has yet to comment on the matter.

Proving WWE Creative Has No Clue What The Fuck They're Doing.. WWE Keeping Quiet On The Format Of Tonight's RAW "Fist Fight" Match

When nobody anywhere knows a thing? Welcome to a day in the life of being part of WWE Creative, LMAO!

Tonight's WWE RAW will feature the first "Fist Fight" six-man with Big Show, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe taking on Seth Rollins and The Authors of Pain.

WWE has not announced any details on the format of the Fist Fight and that may be because they haven't decided on exactly what the match will be.

It was noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that just about no one in WWE knows what the match will consist of. The talents and others in the company had not been informed of the match details as of the weekend. Word is that WWE officials don't want anyone knowing what the match will be until it happens on TV.

As noted on Friday night, Owens took to Twitter and asked WWE what the rules will be.

Owens wrote, "Hello, @WWE. Can someone tell me what the rules to a Fist Fight are? If I punch through Seth's face, do we win? I called Vince this week to ask him and he put me on hold for 5 hours and 18 minutes before the call mysteriously dropped. Anyway, lme know. Thanks!"

WWE also released a video on the match, with Ryan Pappolla, but still didn't confirm the format.

Nick Aldis Shows Up At ROH Saturday Night At Center Stage And Attacks Marty Scurll

ROH Saturday Night at Center Stage  took place last night in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the end of the show, NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis (initially disguised as police) rushed the ring at the end of the show and attacked Marty Scurll from behind. He threw Scurll into the ring post and then left through the crowd. At last month's NWA Into the Fire, Scurll showed up at the end of the PPV to confront Aldis.
NWA and ROH had a partnership in 2018, but split ways in July of last year as NWA Powerrr was being launched. It looks like the two promotions will be working together again as Alids and Scurll continue their feud.
Alids will comment about his attack on this Tuesday's episode of NWA Powerrr.
The champion did tweet after his appearance, "Powerrr surge at Center Stage #NWAPowerrr #ROHCenterstage"

Dr. Tom Prichard On Just How Important Relationship Building Is In The Wrestling Business

In his recently launched podcast (Taking You To School With Dr. Tom Prichard) with the TMPT Empire Head Coach for Jacobs-Prichard Wrestling Academy (JPWA) and former WWE Superstar; Dr. Tom Prichard shared with listeners an important tip that can ultimately lead to success inside the wrestling business. Prichard, who has been one of the most respected and acclaimed wrestling trainers for many years in this excerpt provides useful insight into one of the most overlooked aspect of a successful wrestling career.

"Relationships. You build relationships in this business. I built relationships in this business but I also had what I considered to be one good friend (Brad Armstrong) and he passed away. But the relationships in this business, I had relationships, "The American Dream" who was a dear friend of mine to the very end he said that I just had bad mentors. Maybe I did but without relationships if they don't want you there than you're not going to be there. Far be it from me but I am going to use an example and I'm not picking on anyone because we've all made mistakes but the Dark Order in AEW.

"Okay, how do you really think they got there? Honest to goodness. Is that your best? They've got ways to go. If the work part is 90% do you really think they'd be there? It is that you have to build relationships and the guys in power have to want you to be there and if they don't want you there than you ain't gonna be there. So, you have to build relationships, you have to be able to get along, you can't be a cancer in the locker room, you don't want to be someone who is hard to deal with, you don't want to be someone who is hard to deal with but at the same time you have to have confidence and know and understand how to manipulate because you are certainly going to be manipulated. Or at least they are going to try to manipulate you because that's just the way it is. You can prove me wrong but I don't think you will."

"I don't care how good you are if nobody wants to book you than you ain't gonna be seen. Nobody is going to let you work because they won't use you. So if you treat people right and you get along with people and you build relationships and you show that you are a trust worthy person and I know there ain't trustworthy people in this business and I know it can be a dirty one.

"I know what it can be and I certainly understand that and we're trying to steer away from that and I'm trying to steer away from being and actually know I'm not trying, I am staying away from being negative about anybody out there because everybody has their own way. You have your way and I have my way but the right way and the only way does not exist."

MARTY SCURLL RE-SIGNS WITH ROH, TAKES OVER AS HEAD BOOKER

Marty Scurll has signed a new deal with Ring of Honor.  The two sides had been working on a deal for some time after Scurll's last deal expired at the end of November.
AS of this weekend, Scurll is taking on lead booking duties for the company.  Hunter “Delirious” Johnston remains with the company in a creative capacity and will be working with Scurll, but we are told that moving forward, Scurll will have the lead position for creative with Johnston working in conjunction with him
One of the more surprising aspects is the 31-year-old taking over booking duties from Hunter "Delirious" Johnson, effective immediately. Mike Johnson reported that Scurll was heavily involved in the creative for both of the company's shows this past weekend and that the upcoming February 9th show in Baltimore was his idea. Delirous will remain with the company.
Scurll will still able to work for the NWA where he's involved in an angle with world champion Nick Aldis that was part of ROH's Saturday event. They run Sunday in Concord, NC.

She didn't do any appearances as part of "Media Day" for Impact's Hard To Kill PPV either. I guess after getting her ass punked publicly on Twitter it probably wasn't the best idea for her to be doing anything. :)

Tessa has given no further public comment on the situation since the denial. She was pulled from an upcoming Heavy Metal Wrestling event over the allegations. Here's the link.. https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/heavy-metal-wrestling-pulls-tessa-blanchard-january-24-event

More WWE Stupidity As.. WWE WANTS TO RENAME CITY AFTER SMACKDOWN STAR

They should try and actually SELL them tickets instead of giving them away, oooohhh what a concept.

WKYT-TV in Kentucky is reporting that WWE is making a push to have Corbin, Kentucky renamed King Corbin, Kentucky as part of a marketing ploy for this weekend's live event in the city.

WWE is running Corbin this Sunday with Baron Corbin advertised to face Roman Reigns in a Loser Eats Dogfood match.  Prior to that event, according to WKYT, Corbin and WWE reps will be in front of the Colonel Sanders statue in downtown Corbin Sunday afternoon, collecting signatures to join Corbin's petition for the name change.  WWE cameras will be filming and there will be giveaways for tickets for Sunday's live event.

You Can't Make This Dumb Shit Up- Bobby Lashley Reveals That WWE Once Wanted To Give Him A "Mr. T" Gimmick

Bobby Lashley and Lana's wedding ceremony ended 2019 as their story with Rusev has become one of the biggest parts of Monday Night RAW. Paul Heyman via his backstage role on RAW has been instrumental in building this storyline, and Lashley was asked by Sports Illustrated about his relationship with Heyman.

"When I first started out, I came to OVW in 2004. There were a lot of different people who came through, and they were bringing different trainers and different writers putting the show together," Lashley said. "I remember when Paul Heyman first came, he called me up in the morning and said, 'Hey man, what are you doing? Let's go eat breakfast.' I'd never met Paul at this point, but we go and eat breakfast. It was unbelievable, we were there talking for four hours. I felt like I'd known him forever."

Lashley mentioned how writers were looking at a Mr. T gimmick for him.

"I didn't know this at the time, but Paul saw me–this big, jacked up dude–and didn't know me. And none of the other writers knew who I was. They were just writing on what they thought they knew of me–that I should be like Mr. T and run around like, 'I pity the fool!' But that's not me. And that's why Paul wanted to sit down and talk," Lashley said. "He knew he needed to write for this guy, but he didn't know who I was, and he wasn't going to just guess. So we just sat and talked forever, and he said, 'I get this guy.' And he got me over in a short amount of time.

"I'm a very subtle person. I come from a background where you shut up, you train, and you compete. That's what Paul saw, and everything he did from then on was highlighting who I was, not trying to put me in a box that didn't fit. That's why I was so excited when he came [as the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw], because I knew he gets me, could write for me, and put me in the right position and place on the show."

COURT DATE SET IN DEATH OF NYC INDEPENDENT WRESTLER MATT TRAVIS

Luc Vu, the man arrested following the death New York City independent wrestler Matt "Travis" Palacios, has a court date in New York Criminal Court on 2/7.  Luc has been charged with reckless driving, failure to yield to a bicyclist, failure to obey a traffic device, drive left of pavement marking and failure to exercise due care.

Palacios was struck while traveling on a bike path in East Harlem about 2:30 AM on Saturday 11/9 when a dump truck driver made an illegal left u-turn to get onto the Willis Avenue Bridge.  Travis was struck and although rushed to the hospital, suffered serious trauma and was pronounced dead when he arrived.

It is not yet clear whether Vu was aware he struck Travis.  Vu was driving for D&A Contracting, which fired him upon learning of his arrest.

“I’m shocked, happy and depressed at the same time,” said Palacios' mother, Yolanda Nieves to StreetblogNYC last month.  “I was so depressed without my son. [Vu] should pay for what he did to my child — if it was a mistake he could have said he was sorry, but I haven’t heard any apologies.”  Nieves told Streetblog she felt she had been kept in the dark during the investigation.

Travis, who was returning home from professional wrestling training when he was struck was only 25 years old.    He had been wrestling regularly for House of Glory, CZW and other promotions in the Northeast.

Hardys Status With WWE

Matt Hardy's current WWE deal expires on 3/1, so if he does not come to terms on a new deal, he would be free to appear anywhere on that date.    Hardy has obviously been preparing for a potential exit with his "Release the Delete" videos online and we are told that the major hurdle between the two sides is how he would be used going forward, not money.

Jeff Hardy's deal will not expire at the same time as it has been held up at times due to his legal issues and injuries.  Hardy has a hearing on 1/13 on his DWI arrest last year.  We are told that WWE has pushed Hardy to address his personal health in the wake of the arrest and Hardy has been working hard at doing so.
