NEW ADDITIONS TO WWE WRITING TEAM (and opinion about this)

Even though names like Bruce Prichard, Dana Warrior and Jeff Jarrett for the creative team, there have been several new writers recently added to the team this month.  Michael James Nelson, who has worked on NBC's Off Their Rocker with Betty White and on MTV's Movie & TV Awards, has been added to the team.  Andrea Kail, who has worked on TruTV's Comedy Knockout, among other projects, has also been hired as a writer by the company.

But here's the problems right here. Adding Hollywood writers who know nothing of the Wrestling business to the mix has rarely worked, and judging by how the stocks and viewers have gone in recent weeks, it's pretty obvious. 

Another thing that nobody in the WWE has the balls to openly say. If they do all this writing and McMahon nixes it, or okays it and then at the last minute changes his mind, then what's the point of all that writing? Especially when they can't even put fucking logic into what they're writing?

I'm sure someone will chime in and say something like "Bet you wouldn't tell your boss at work he's wrong or what the problems are.

Guess what, I have and STILL DO, on a weekly basis.. And if I worked for WWE I'd do the same thing there as well. because unlike the 'yes men' who have no sack, I do and will continue to have the balls ro say what these wimps don't have the guts to say.

LIO RUSH, GALLOWS AND ANDERSON UPDATE

As seen on last night's Raw, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are now part of the Raw roster.  We are told that decision was made the night of the Superstar Shakeup but was not announced until last night.  We are also told there has been no change in their contractual status with WWE and they are still scheduled to finish up with the company this Fall.

There's been a lot of talk about the future of Lio Rush.  He was backstage at Raw last night, but was not used.  There's been a lot of talk within the company that he's going to be shifted back over to WWE NXT in the near future.  Rush has been a polarizing figure backstage for some time among other wrestlers, dating back to the November 2018 European tour, where as the junior member of the tour, he blew off  what has long been considered standard backstage etiquette for the junior member of the roster on overseas tours, including being at the gorilla position after matches to provide water to talents as they returned from the ring as well as carrying coolers and drinks into the hotels where the roster was staying in order to set up a common area where everyone could socialize privately together.  These sorts of menial jobs are often done to show respect to the locker room and the business and are usually passed on to the next junior member of the locker room when someone else is brought up to the main roster.  

Given that this was his first European tour, those responsibilities would have technically fallen on Rush’s shoulders.  When several veterans tried to explain to Rush that he was making a mistake at the time, he blew off the advice and complained to WWE management, which didn't score him any points.  Things calmed down in recent months, but there have been additional issues, including Rush allegedly bringing friends and relatives backstage without proper credentials and other moments where he has blown off counsel of senior Raw roster members.   Rush has completely disappeared from Raw with zero explanation of the end of his on-screen relationship with Bobby Lashley.

Luke Williams Appearance Debacle

Strange story about Bushwhacker Luke Williams, the situation is actually even stranger than it sounds. Dan Mirade booked Luke for two autograph sessions. Williams was told about the dates but didn't know one of the dates was for a Walmart. He then got asked on social media about him appearing at a Walmart. So he thought they were false advertising him since he knew he had a booking that day. He then told the local media he was being false advertised. But in fact, he wasn't being false advertised. So it's all been settled except for one of the TV news stations still has the story up about him being false advertised and won't pull it because they had an interview with him saying it. So Luke shot an interview today explaining that he, in fact, will be in Ozark, AR on 5/3 and Fort Smith, AR on 5/4.

Brian Cage Talks Injury At Impact Rebellion, If He'll Be Out Of Action

Impact Wrestling announced after last night's Rebellion PPV the new Impact World Champion Brian Cage was rushed to the emergency room after sustaining an injury during his match against Johnny Impact. Earlier today, Cage joined Busted Open to give an update after taking a spanish fly from the ramp down to the floor.

"Right when we hit, I'm rolling and the pain shoots down through my leg," Cage said. "It's a feeling I've never had before in my life. I'm instantly thinking, 'ruptured disc or whatever. My back is f---ed, I'm going to have to have surgery or something.' Then I'm thinking, 'Maybe it'll go away,' and just trying to enter the ring after that moment, I'm bleeding and what not.

"Rolling into the ring, turning my hip over hip and trying to get up, I felt like there was no strength there and the pain shot down my leg again, and I'm like 'crap.' But it felt almost a little bit better, so maybe it will subside here in a second, like a flash thing. Then I think was in the corner and I evaded Johnny, and there was no movement, like, I couldn't. I felt so slow and robotic in my mannerisms and movement because of the pain."

Cage then said he shouldn't be out of action for long as he was diagnosed with severe inflammation and a bone bruise. At worst, a small fracture, but there's not much he can do for that aside from rest.

"Yeah it doesn't look like I'm going to be out," Cage said. "[The Doctor] goes, 'I think you're going to be fine, you have severe inflammation and a bone bruise, there could be a small fracture there. I would like to rule that out, however, if there is a fracture, I don't seeing it being any major fracture. Even then, you can't do much more for that, just err on the side of caution.'"

BRIAN CAGE SUFFERS BACK INJURY AT IMPACT REBELLION, MICHAEL ELGIN DEBUTS

Brian Cage, who captured the Impact championship tonight from Johnny Impact at the Rebel Complex in Toronto, suffered a back injury in the match.

The injury is believed from the spot where he took a Spanish fly off the ramp and onto the floor. He continued the match, but shortly after the show was over, Cage was barely able to walk and was rushed to the hospital.

Cage had gone into the ring with cupping marks all over his back.  Cupping is a therapy treatment popular in Japan since the 70s and gained some American use in the 2016 Olympics. But that would indicate that he went into the match with some back issues.

After the match was over, Cage was confronted by the debuting Michael Elgin. It ended up being physical when Elgin attacked Cage, laying him out with the Elgin bomb, setting up a possible future title match between the two.

Michael Elgin made his debut for Impact Wrestling tonight, immediately catapulting himself into their world title scene.

Brian Cage defeated Johnny Impact to win the Impact World title at tonight’s Rebellion pay-per-view. After the match, Elgin appeared on the stage and made his way to the ring. Following a staredown, Elgin jumped Cage, took the title and gave him the Elgin bomb. He then posed with the title before leaving.

Elgin has been associated with New Japan Pro Wrestling since 2015, winning both the Intercontinental and NEVER titles on one occasion. He did not re-sign with the company earlier this year and left last month on March 24, teaming with Colt Cabana and Toa Henare to defeat Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Shota Umino. His contract officially expired on 4/1.

Since leaving NJPW, Elgin has mostly worked the Canadian independent scene. He’s also previously worked for Ring of Honor, where he held their world championship on one occasion.

News On Vince McMahon Denying Luke Harper His WWE Release While Allowing Goldust To Leave

Earlier this month, Harper, 39, announced he had asked for his release from WWE after feeling like it was time to move on in his pro wrestling career. WWE has not granted a release, but instead has reportedly added on another six months to his contract due to the time he was out for wrist surgery.

For Dustin Rhodes, he was granted his release in January and was under a 90-day non-compete. He has already been announced for AEW Double or Nothing on May 25 where he will take on his brother, Cody Rhodes.

On this morning's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the topics of Luke Harper requesting a release from WWE and Dustin Rhodes receiving his came up. Meltzer noted that McMahon does not want to release anyone right now, however the reason that Rhodes was granted his while Harper was denied is because of Triple H. Triple H reportedly talked McMahon into releasing Rhodes, however no one is talking McMahon into granting Harper his.

Harper was reportedly scheduled to feud with Sami Zayn, however those plans were nixed.

NWA CROWNS THREE NEW CHAMPIONS AT CROCKETT CUP

Three new NWA champions were crowned tonight at the Crockett Cup tournament in Concord, North Carolina.

The ROH team of Brody King and PCO defeated Royce Isaacs and Thomas Latimer (formerly Bram from Impact) to win not only the Crockett Cup tournament, but the NWA Tag Team titles, which have been vacant since 2017. Isaacs and Latimer won the wildcard battle royal and earned a spot in the tournament in the first match of the show, but lost in the finals after PCO hit a moonsault on Latimer following a fireman's carry Michinoku driver from King.

Earlier in the card, Allysin Kay defeated Santana Garrett to win the vacant NWA Women’s championship. Garrett went to the top rope for a shining star press, but Kay moved out of the way and pinned Garrett with a spear to win the championship for the first time.  The match originally was supposed to be Jazz defending the title against Kay, but on 4/22 it was announced that she would be vacating the title after 948 days due to personal and medical reasons.

Colt Cabana later defeated Willie Mack to win the NWA National title after scoring the win with the Superman pin, ending Mack’s 184 day run as champion. James Storm made an appearance after the match, challenging Cabana to a future title match.

Eric Bischoff Says That Working For TNA Was 'Very Regrettable' And He Wishes He Never Did It

Eric Bischoff was recently a guest of The Underground Australia podcast to promote an upcoming live 83 Weeks event scheduled for June 21-23. Bischoff, who stated that he left WCW with a lot of baggage when it folded in 2001, discussed how happy he was when he was asked to return to the pro wrestling business as a WWE personality.

"Enough time had gone by. I had been out of wrestling, it was in my rear view mirror. I wasn't thinking about it anymore. And I left all of that resentment and all of that baggage, and I left it all in my past," said Bischoff. "And I didn't think about it anymore. And then, when Vince [McMahon] called me and offered me a job, I realized in that moment that it was an opportunity for me to end my career on a high note. I knew that if I went into the WWE as a character, because I was very confident in my abilities as a performer, I was very confident in the history that I had with the WWF would make it even easier for me that it would for anybody else. My character would be more interesting, because everybody knew my history with the company. So, I knew all of the conditions were right for me to be very successful, and to have the opportunity to end my career on a positive note. And, because of that, I felt like a kid at Christmas morning."

Bischoff stated that he was "thoroughly excited" for the opportunity to work in the WWE, where he was a prominent on-screen character from 2002-2005, followed by irregular appearances from 2006-2007. From 2010-2012, Bischoff appeared as an on-screen character, spending a bulk of this time being a part of the "10/10/10" angle and subsequent establishment of the Immortal faction. He also was involved in an angle with his son, Garett, which led to him being written off of television.

Overall, Bischoff was very dissatisfied with his TNA run, and regrets even making the decision to start working there.

"For the most part, it is very regrettable," said Bischoff. "Looking back, I wished I wouldn't have done it, with one or two exceptions. It was an opportunity for me to work with my son, and for my son to get an opportunity to work in the wrestling business, which is something that was a goal of his as a young boy and a teenager growing up. He's fantasized having an opportunity to work in the wrestling business with his father, and being in TNA gave me that opportunity to provide to him. And I'll forever be grateful for that, because that is a memory that my son and I share to this that day, that is very special to both of us. And I'll never, ever minimize that. But, other than that? Eh. Eh."

Bischoff added that other than being an entrepreneur, he could see himself being a lawyer if he was not involved in the pro wrestling business.

Backstage Agent Dean Malenko Quits WWE

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is reporting that Dean Malenko has quit WWE. Malenko worked as a backstage agent for the company for the last eight years.

Malenko is best known for his run in WCW when he was one of the top cruiserweights in the division. He is a former four-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion and former two-time WWE Light Heavyweight Champion. He is widely considered as one of the best technical wrestlers of all-time and was nicknamed "The Man of 1,000 Holds." He was hired by WWE to work as a road agent shortly after his retirement.

Malenko's departure is just the latest shake-up backstage in WWE. Back in February, WWE made a big change by firing producer Arn Anderson after nearly two decades in the company. Shortly after his firing, WWE brought back Bruce Prichard to be part of the creative team. Earlier this month, Road Dogg stepped down as the head writer of SmackDown, a position he had held for two years. Road Dogg is reportedly taking time away from the company, but remains part of WWE.

Luke Harper Release Denied, WWE Extends His Contract Instead

So much for asking to be released from a place that isn't using him correctly, LOL.

It looks like Luke Harper won't be leaving WWE any time soon.

As was speculated, WWE is adding another 6 months to Harper's contract to make up for the time he missed for wrist surgery, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Harper's contract was to end in November of this year, but WWE has added to it because it was "frozen" while he was on the shelf.

We noted before how Harper took to Twitter on April 16 to announce that he had requested his release. He had previously tweeted about being concerned or unhappy with his position in WWE going into the WrestleMania 35 Axxess events, where he wrestled Dominik Dijakovic for the Worlds Collide tapings. That match aired last week on the WWE Network, Harper's first WWE TV match since last summer.

Billy Gunn Comments On Triple H Taking A Shot At AEW During WWE Hall Of Fame Speech

Earlier this month, DX was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and during their speech Triple Hcracked a joke about AEW, calling them a "piss-ant" company. What started that was DX joked around about not being able to name Vince McMahon in their speech and Gunn commenting Vince couldn't fire him anymore, a reference to Gunn working as a Producer for AEW.

The Gunn joke led to fans in the audience doing an "AEW" chant. Triple H then responded, "Billy, let's be honest. He would buy that piss-ant company just to fire you again."

On the 411 Wrestling Interview Podcast, Gunn was asked about Triple H's comment and he thought it wasn't harmful to either company.

"Yeah, I mean, come on," Gunn said. "It's not a secret! We all know what's going on, we all know what's happening. It had nothing—yeah, it's funny and everybody's gonna react to it, and it's not taboo. Because everyone's talking [like] 'Well, you work for AEW now. How can you be in the Hall of Fame.' It's not about working for WWE.

"It's about being recognized as a part of wrestling, as being part of one of the greatest things that ever happened to wrestling. So, yeah, it was funny, I thought it was hilarious, it was well-done. It wasn't meant by no means to hurt either/or feelings. Either AEW's feelings or WWE's feelings. But you can't walk around like it's not something. Like, it's not happening, right?

Ethan Page called out AAW this afternoon for allegedly telling people they could not work certain promotions including Black Label Pro, Freelance Wrestling and Warrior Wrestling. Page wrote  “Hey. You know it’s okay to wrestle for multiple companies in same city right?  Unless you signed an agreement/contract that states otherwise. Don’t let someone else dictate where you work, unless they’re willing to pay for exclusivity. Own yourself. Don’t sell out for fake hype.” He has given AAW the option of cancelling him for their 5/31 event but will honor the date if they choose not to, saying that he “couldn’t care less working for them at this point”.
