Congratulations Lars Sullivan For Making Yourself Look Like A Dumb Ass, Dumb Ass

Lars Sullivan reportedly does not have many supporters left in the WWE locker room, especially after his latest controversy went public on social media this past weekend.

Reddit user posted a screenshot this weekend that showed how married yoga instructor Annika Naidoo-Fuge blocked Sullivan on Instagram after he made inappropriate comments. Sullivan responded to a photo of Annika's legs and wrote, "Incredibly beautiful. I absolutely love your legs!!!"

He added in a follow-up comment, "You got any booty pics in those hon?"

The woman responded, "Hey lars. I'm going to refund you your money. I told you before I block people who send me messages like this so you've kind of had a warning. I don't have time to work with clients who don't respect boundaries - I'm a happily married woman. It's also not very smart on your part given you're quite well known."

Annika was reached for comments by Bodyslam.net and she confirm that the screenshot was legitimate, and also revealed that this wasn't the first time Sullivan made such comments.

"Essentially lars had been friendly for the best part of a year and the inappropriate comments only started recently. As a professional who is good at what she does, I just think it's a little sad that men feel they can send messages like that. It's insulting," she wrote in a private message to Bodyslam.

Annika then provided screenshots of Lars asking how much her "booty program" was. She responded with a price of $50 and then asked Lars if he would "put it out" to his female following, in a plug, which he did do. Lars responded, "I'd double that for pics! Just sayin!"

The screenshots also show more comments Lars made to Annika, which you can see below.

"I gave him the benefit of the doubt and was friendly! But a line was crossed," Annika said of the incident.

You can also see where Lars sent $80 to Annika. The various screenshots can be seen below.

Lars is no stranger to online controversy, but this latest was made public just a day after he made his return to WWE TV during Friday's SmackDown, after being out of action for more than 1 year with a knee injury.

It was reported today by @Wrestlevotes that WWE is aware of Lars' latest "troubles" online. It was also said that it's beyond safe to say that Lars does not have many supporters left in the WWE locker room. However, one of those supporters has the ultimate say, and that may be the end of it. That supporter is WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon.

Lars is in the Superstar Draft pool for tonight's RAW and will be eligible for a pick by RAW or SmackDown. He is currently a member of the SmackDown roster.

2300 ARENA CANCELS POLITICAL EVENT UPON LEARNING IT IS FOR DONALD TRUMP

The 2300 Arena has seen a lot of violence, blood and guts over the last several decades, but the one thing the South Philadelphia pro wrestling staple couldn't take was a rally event for WWE Hall of Famer and United States President Donald Trump.

The Arena was slated to host an "Italians for Trump" rally hosted by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani today, but the Arena's owners canceled the event upon learning the event was to support President Trump.  The legendary pro wrestling venue had been originally told they were being booked for a rally for a "local politician", according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“There’s just a whole lot of things that come with a Trump rally,” Arena co-owner Christy Bottie said. “There’s no way we were going to take any risks on any level for a Trump rally.”

Bottie was specifically concerned, according to the article about the venue not being able to handle the COVID-19 health concerns involving present with a larger gathering, although they had been told those attending would be wearing masks.  There was also concern about the potential size of the gathering and protestors also coming to the building.

The rally was moved to another location in Northeast Philadelphia, where Giulani blamed the change on the Mayor of Philadelphia contacting the venue, something Bottie denied happened.  The Arena held a Republican National Committee event in 2016.

The Arena itself has been shut down since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic and is waiting for the chance to return to booking live events, including professional wrestling, MMA, concerts and boxing.  Since the summer of 1993, it has been the heart and soul of professional wrestling in the city of Brotherly Love, including hosting the first-ever ECW PPV, Barely Legal.

ALBERTO DEL RIO HAS BEEN INDICTED

Alberto Del Rio was officially indicted yesterday by a grand jury in San Antonio, Texas following an arrest this past May.

The Bexar County District Attorney's Office issued a press release this morning, officially confiming that Del Rio, real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, 43, was indicted on one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault.

The complete release issued reads:

2 men indicted for separate sex offenses

This week, Bexar County Grand Juries handed down 250 felony indictments.

Jose Rodriguez Chucuan is charged in a multi-count indictment. The indictment alleges that on May 3, 2020, Chucuan committed one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault.

Anthony Martinez is charged with sexual assault of a child. The indictment alleges that on May 22, 2020, Martinez committed the offense of sexual assault of a person younger than 17 years of age.

Both cases are being prosecuted by the Family Violence Division in the 226th District Court. Because these cases are pending trial, we can make no further comment on them.

Del Rio was arrested in May and charged with sexual assault, a second degree felony as well as aggravated kidnapping.  Court records list the primary charge as aggravated kidnapping, so clarification is needed as to whether the sexual assault charge resulted in an indictment as well.

A trial date has not yet been set.  Del Rio is slated to be officially arraigned today, according to court records.    He had been out on $50,000 bond.

Del Rio, real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, 43, was arrested on 5/9 after a victim went to local authorities, stating that on Sunday 5/3 at 10 PM, Chucuan allegedly became angry with her and physically assaulted her after accusing her of infidelity.  When the victim would not admit to the infidelity, Chucuan allegedly slapped her "across the head" several times.  The victim also alleged that Chucuan "forced her to wear a dress and dance for him" and that when she refused and he told her not to start crying because if she did, "he would take her son and drop him in the middle of the road somewhere."

The arrest affidavit stated that the woman alleged Chucuan had sexually assaulted her and that she had her injuries documented via photographs.

At the time, The FOX affiliate in San Antonio reported, "Police said Rodriguez Chucuan then tied the woman's hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and sexually assaulted her for several hours, using various objects. According to investigators, he also punched her in the back during the assault, causing visible injuries. The victim told detectives she does not remember much after he placed his hand around her throat."

TMZ later reported additional details that brought the accusations into a much more disturbing light, stating that the victim reported the attack started at around 10 PM on 5/3 and that it lasted over 16 hours, ending  on 5/4 on 2:30 PM.  The victim went to the police the same day with TMZ's report noting that the responding officer saw bruises on her face, arms, legs and neck.  The victim alleged that Chucuan attempted to burn her passport and smashed her laptop computer and cell phone.  TMZ reported that the victim, "..also claims Del Rio attacked her, causing multiple injuries and left her, 'feeling woozy and dizzy from the hits to her head.' "    The victim told police she was afraid and intended to leave San Antonio as soon as possible.

In Texas, a conviction for aggravated kidnapping, if punishable in the first degree could result in a a prison sentence ranging from 5 to 99 years or life imprisonment and/or a fine up to $10,000.  However, if the accused can prove they released the alleged victim voluntarily, they could only be convicted of aggravated kidnapping in the second degree, which could result in a prison sentence ranging from two to 20 years and/or a fine up to $10,000.

As noted above, there is no official confirmation yet as to whether the grand jury opted to indict or drop the charge of sexual assault.  If Del Rio was indeed indicted, the minimum prison sentence for sexual assault under Texas law would be 2 years with a maximum of up to 20 years.  As a second degree felony under Texas law, sexual assault can also lead to a fine of up to $10,000, in addition to incarceration.   PWInsider.com is working on clarification on where that charge stands following the grand jury indictment.

Chucuan is best known publicly as former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio in WWE, formerly Dos Caras in Mexico.  Since departing WWE, he has wrestled as Alberto el Patron in Impact Wrestling and fought under that name last year for MMA group Combate Americas, where he also holds a figurehead executive position.  A representative for MMA promotion Combate Americas declined to give a statement at the time of Chucuan's arrest.  There is no word what the indictment means for his relationship with the MMA promotion.

Jeff Jarrett's Request For A New Trial Against Anthem.. Is Shot Down.

In an order issued yesterday by The United States District Court of The Middle District of Tennessee, the motion by Jeff Jarrett and Global Wrestling Entertainment requesting a new trial date in their lawsuit against Impact Wrestling owner Anthem Wrestling was denied by Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw.

Crenshaw's ruling noted that he was denying the request, "....because of the press of other Court business, the fact that criminal cases take precedent, and the impact COVID-19 has had on the ability to regularly schedule jury trials."

Waverly did not issue the ruling with prejudice, which means that the door was left open for Jarrett's side to come back with the request down the line.

However, the court is still pushing for the two sides to sit down and negotiate a settlement after the first attempt at going to trial resulted in a mistrial.

Wavery noted that in regard to a request for an official settlement conference before the court, he suggested, "Kevin H. Sharp, a former Judge ofthisCourt, is available and willing to serve as a private mediator and certainly has the background and experience to express an opinion about the strengths and weaknesses of the parties’ claims and defenses and accurately predict the likely outcomes. Within ten (10) days of the date of this Order, the parties shall contact Kevin Sharp and arrange for private mediation."

So, back to the negotiating table the two sides will again go.

Rick Martel vs The Natural (Cyrus AKA Don Callis)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRd1EKVnLec

Winnipeg IWA Hardcore Wrestling promoter Tony Condello brought in Rick Martel (using his WWE "Model" gimmick, but as a face) to do a feud with Tony's lead heel, The Natural in 1995/1996. The highlight of this feud was a series of cage matches held at Tony's cards in small towns across Manitoba. One of those matches was held at a TV taping for Tony's Winnipeg CKY TV show that was held in the summer of 1996 in Portage La Prairie, MB. I was there and I didn't record the date, but I recall it was on a Friday night, and it took forever for Tony's crew to put that cage up, so it was past midnight by the time the match took place. The Natural went on to become The Jackyl in WWE, then Cyrus in ECW, then under his real name Don Callis in TNA. But all those characters were only mouthpieces, so fans outside of Manitoba could be watching Don actually wrestle here for the first time. Bad News Allen appears as The Natural's bodyguard. An interesting bit of trivia is that when Don was first accepted by WWE, he and Martel were supposed to debut as a tag team called The Models with Don's character being called Don Casablancas. But Martel decided to go to WCW instead, so Don became The Jackyl in WWE. (Source: Don himself when he co-hosted Winnipeg wrestling radio show No Holds Barred on CITI FM with the annnouncer you hear in this match, CITI's Joe Aiello.)

No Real Justice As Man Who Killed Indie Wrestler Matt Travis Gets Slap On The Wrist As A Result.

Talk about getting away with murder, this is it... literally.. Total bullshit.

Luc C. Vu, who drove the vehicle that ran into Matt Palacios (Matt Travis) pleaded guilty to reckless driving, failure to exercise due car, causing serious injury and failure to yield to a bicycle, in a report by PWInsider and other places. His driver's license was suspended for six months and he was fined $250.  That seems way too light for a manslaughter case.

I guess the message is clear now, it's okay to run indie wrestlers over with your car and kill them, because this is what you get when you do.

Absolute bullshit if you ask me.

On the latest edition of VOC Nation’s Wrestling with History, Ken Resnick talked about the difference in the structure of the business today versus the 80s, Hulk Hogan’s locker room reputation, and the AWA continuing to advertise Hogan after he left for the WWF in 1983.  Here are some highlights:

On the difference in chemistry during interviews and matches today versus the 80s:  “One of the things I’ve always tried to do, and we’d talk with the talent, we always tried to play to their strengths.  I always would try and find out how they were most comfortable doing an interview.  The agents, producers, what have you would always try and point out their strengths and stay away from their weaknesses, not only doing interviews but in the ring.  That just doesn’t seem to be there anymore… Back in the territory days, there were so many hours on the road driving from town to town that the wrestlers would be together in the cars, they’d be eating together on the road telling stories about their families, and cammeraderie came and grew from that as did a mutual respect.  When you were doing an interview you always tried to somehow put your opponent over; when guys were in the ring they tried to put the matches together that even if they were going over, to make sure their opponent had enough high spots to get over even if they weren’t going to have their hands raised.  I think a lot of that is lost in today’s wrestling…they just don’t spend the amount of time together.”

On talent contract changing how talent views the business:  “Back in the 80s and 90s, the wrestlers got paid a percentage of the gate.  If you were in the main event you got a little more of a percentage than the guys that were in the semi-windup, and a lot more than the guys in the opening match, but everybody strove to try and sell tickets and put their matches over.  Today so much of the talent (are) on guaranteed contracts that how big the house is doesn’t really affect their pay that much… I just think back in the 80s and 90s everybody wanted the show to be as good as it could be because that meant everybody got paid a little bit more.  Now today I think it’s more about putting themselves over looking toward their next contract.”

On Hulk Hogan’s locker room reputation:  “I was there.  The vibe in the locker room – there were some guys that were not well liked – and I never saw Hulk Hogan as someone who wasn’t well liked… If you look at Hulk’s matches in the ring, he always allotted at some point in his matches for his opponent to be going over, and then of course he would hulk up and make the comeback.  There were guys that weren’t well liked (but) I never saw that with Hulk.”

On today’s business not centering around mega stars:  “Certainly Hulk was good for the business, he recognized that he was good for the business, and he tried to help a lot of people… When Hulk was on the card, the house was going to be bigger.  More people were going to come to a town if Hulk Hogan was wrestling.  The same was true if Macho Man and Elizabeth were wrestling, or if Roddy Piper was wrestling…(Today) WWE made the concerted effort to become more of a brand, not really having mega superstars…There’s not really the mega superstar that non wrestling fans (would go out to see).”

On the AWA continuing to advertise Hogan after he left for WWE:  “Hulk was not going to be on TV because he had a Japan tour booked.  Everyone was aware of that.  At some point either before or during the Japan trip, Hulk notified Verne that he was not coming back to the AWA…. One of the things that bothered me (was) even thought they knew he was not coming back, they continued to advertise him as being on upcoming house shows… (then) that night at the show they would announce that he wasn’t going to be there.”

On Verne Gagne’s personality:  “If you were just with Verne one on one when no one else was around, Verne could be kind of a fun guy or an OK guy.  But it always seemed that if there were someone else around, he would – and I’m not 100% sure which persona was real or not – be not so nice.”

Wrestling with History features former AWA and WWF announcer Ken Resnick and drops every Wednesday on VOC Nation.  Ken looks back at the 80s and early 90s and tells stories from his time in the business.

The Pathetic Saga That Never Ends... Continues As.. JEFF JARRETT AND GLOBAL FORCE ENTERTAINMENT FILE MOTION TO SET NEW TRIAL DATE AGAINST IMPACT WRESTLING PARENT COMPANY

Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment filed the following motion on 10/2 before the Tennessee Middle District Court, citing that they do not believe they and Impact Wrestling parent company Anthem Wrestling will come to a settlement, leaving them back at square one after their previous civil trial was ruled a mistrial and had to be reset:

UNOPPOSED MOTION TO SET A DATE FOR RE-TRIAL

Plaintiffs Global Force Entertainment, Inc. and Jeffrey Jarrett respectfully request the Court set a date for re-trial.

Although the parties have a private mediation scheduled for November 3, 2020, Plaintiffs do not believe there is any realistic chance of settlement in this case without a settlement conference before a judicial officer given the parties’ positions on the likely outcomes (and causes of such outcomes) at re-trial.

Plaintiffs’ counsel asked Defendant’s counsel whether Defendant opposes a motion requesting the Court set a date for re-trial. Defendant’s counsel informed Plaintiffs’ counsel that Defendant does not oppose Plaintiffs’ request for setting this case for re-trial.

WHEREFORE, Plaintiffs respectfully request this case be set for re-trial and the Court dispense with requiring the parties to attend a private mediation, which would effectively be a fifth day of private mediation.
