Jimmy Uso Arrest Update Including Statement From WWE

Jimmy Uso has been released from jail after posting $1,000 bond.

The WWE star was arrested and charged with DUI after being pulled over at 3:04 AM  after authorities observed him driving erratically.

Uso has a court appearance set for Thursday 8/15..

WWE issued the following statement to me after i emailed them about this.Jimmy Uso's arrest this morning.

"Jonathan Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions."

TMZ reports that Uso was pulled over by police due to speeding. Police got behind him and noticed that he was driving erratically, swerving "left and right." Jimmy reportedly "reeked of alcohol" when he was pulled over and he refused when the officer tried to administer DUI tests. Uso was then arrested on the DUI charge, and also hit with a citation for speeding.

Wrestlecircus Is No More...

The Austin, Texas-based Wrestlecircus group has canceled its 7/28 date.  Owner Al Lenhart sent an email to those booked on the show apologizing, stating that he was shutting down and was done with wrestling.

The promotion has not announced the cancellation but a number of talents booked announced the cancellation privately. I myself received three messages regarding this.

JIMMY USO ARRESTED

TMZ.com is reporting that WWE star Jimmy Uso (Jonathan Solofa Fatu) was arrested this morning in Pensacola, Florida and charged with DUI after he was pulled over at 3:04 AM after authorities observed him "driving erratically" and "swerving left and right."

TMZ's report claimed that Uso "reeked" of alcohol and refused to undergo testing at the scene to test him for intoxication.

Uso remains incarcerated as of this moment.

Uso was arrested in Detroit, Michigan this past February as well after authorities pulled over the car his wife Naomi was driving as she was driving the wrong way on a one way street. Uso got out of the car, despite being told not to do so and took off his jacket and acted as if he wanted to fight.   He eventually calmed down and listened to the police officers who stopped the car.  Uso was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice at the time.

Update On Impact Wrestling And A TV Deal

Over the last several weeks, there have been rumors that Impact Wrestling was in negotiations with AXS TV about bringing their weekly series to that cable platform.  That rumor has been incorrect, because something much grander has been in play - Anthem Media, Impact's parent company, has been in talks about acquiring AXS TV.    The talks date back at least three months and the initial hope was to have had the deal done by early July.

Had that timeline taken place as hoped, Impact Wrestling planned to announce they were moving to AXS the Monday after Slammiversary, but the AXS TV deal was not consummated.  Anthem's potential purchase would not have changed New Japan or WOW's status with AXS we are told as the station and its programming would have remained in place as it currently exists, although Anthem-owned content, including Impact, would have migrated over.

There were rumors over the last day that the AXS TV purchase was dead but many sources have said that the talks are still active as of this week.

AXS TV is one of several potential outlets Anthem has been looking at in order to add to their footprint in the United States, so it stands to reason that should the AXS TV deal not happen, if Anthem acquires something else, that is where Impact Wrestling will land.

NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE, RING OF HONOR PART WAYS

NWA Champion Nick Aldis is no longer advertised for the 8/9 Ring of Honor Summer Supercard event in Toronto as Ring of Honor and the National Wrestling Alliance will not be working together going forward,

NWA Vice President Dave Lagana, who had been producing all of the ROH pre-tapes over the last seven months, finished his commitments with Ring of Honor this past weekend as well.

PWInsider.com is told that the decision was made for each promotion to go their separate ways and that NWA President Billy Corgan intends on putting all his energy towards producing a weekly stand-alone NWA series later this year once he completes the current Smashing Pumpkins tour.

Sources close to each promotion have stated that they have parted ways on amicable terms and the door is open to potentially partner down the line.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. Discusses Why He Left NJPW

Back in mid-June, Davey Boy Smith Jr. (Harry Smith) announced that he was leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. Smith's career with the company began as early as 2005, and resurfaced in 2012, where he would be with NJPW on and off for seven years.
Smith spoke with The Hannibal TV and said that there were many factors that led to his decision to leave. Smith cited the workload decrease, not much that could be done for him and his tag partner Lance Archer (who worked together for a long time as the Killer Elite Squad), and the lack of communication between him and management as factors for his departure.
"I was in a situation where I couldn't win," Smith said regarding receiving fewer dates. "New Japan towards the end were only giving me four tours a year. What they had told me or expressed to me was that there was no way they could increase the workload of KES, Lance Archer and myself as a tag team."
Smith also said that there was a lot he wanted to cover, but he felt that the most important thing he wanted his fans and others to know was that for awhile now he felt that his back was up against the wall. Smith said that this was the smartest thing he could do for his career.
"It was a business decision that I had to make for my future," Smith stated. " I felt that the tag team with Lance Archer and myself had expired, and we did all that we could in Japan and in the USA, because we are just not that very well known over here or Canada as a tag team."
Smith also discussed the disputes he had with NJPW booker Gedo had and how that played a vital part in his decision to leave.
"I guess this will all date back to when Lance Archer injured his back on a New Japan tour. I believe it was March of 2017. When Archer and myself returned to New Japan after a two year stint in (Pro Wrestling) NOAH, I myself was very fired up, pumped up, ready to come back and take New Japan by storm. I had done a really crazy diet during that time… and unfortunately as luck has it, Lance Archer got injured and that finally was the straw that broke the camels back. He had to get emergency back surgery over in New Japan.
"I was told that I was going to be on the rest of the remainder of that tour, and I was told by the new person in the office named Saito that I was going to be on the next tour. That was a little over four weeks. He gave me a schedule and I wasn't on the Super Juniors tour. I think I was on something in June. So, when I went home, they had owed me merchandise money from that tour, and they said 'okay you're coming back next month?' I said yeah I'll be back there. I went home and was waiting for my flight and no one gave me any flight information. I sent the office lady and email and said where's my flight, and she said well did you talk to Kedo? You're not on the tour. I said well, that's news to me."
What surfaced next was a lot of name blaming among those in the New Japan office. Smith stated what led to that was when he sent a Facebook message to Gedo and how he "never read or responded to his message." Nor did anyone know if he was or wasn't suppose to be on the current tour.
"I just would've appreciated them being honest with me, and when I was going home they said listen Lance is going to be out for however long. We don't have anything for you because you guys are a tag team. We're sorry, please get booked by yourself, I would've said OK. But when there is that lack of communication, what am I to do?

It's Softball Season So Of Course Sid Wasn't Gonna Show Up. News On Why Sid Vicious Wasn't At WWE RAW Reunion

Most people know the saga of "Softball Sid" anyway, Summer times comes, he starts no showing bookings.. It's been that way for years and years.

As previously reported, former two-time WWE Champion "Psycho" Sid Vicious, f.k.a. Sycho Sid, was the only legend advertised for WWE RAW Reunion that did not appear. While no specifics were given, Sid reportedly pulled out of the show several days ago, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
WWE apparently knew that Sid would not be appearing before they created the graphic for the "RAW Reunion" shirt below, which was released last week. Sid was also not featured in updated promotional material before the show.
Since leaving WWE in 1997, Sid has only appeared on a pair of RAWs in 2012 as part of RAW 1000. Sid defeated Heath Slater on an episode of RAW leading up to the special, and also appeared on RAW 1000 itself as part of a segment where several legends beat up Slater.

And if you think I'm full of shit about the "Softball Sid" deal. Bruce Prichard mentions it... Here.

"Due To Unforeseen Circumstances" More Like WWE Yanking Jeff Jarrett Off Of Upcoming ICW Show.

With Jeff Jarrett unable to wrestle at the show, a member of the NXT roster will be filling in for him at Insane Championship Wrestling's Shug's Hoose Party 6 night one this weekend.
Kushida will face Jackie Polo at the show, which is taking place at the O2 Academy in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday (July 27). Jarrett had been set to face Polo at the event.
Before Kushida was revealed as Jarrett's replacement, ICW announced that -- due to unforeseen circumstances -- Jarrett wouldn't be facing Polo: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Jeff Jarrett will not be able to compete against Just Justice Jackie Polo, this Saturday at Shug’s Hoose Party 6 - Night 1. However, ICW management have secured a replacement who will face Just Justice in the main event."
Kushida departed NJPW after his contract with them expired at the end of January. In April, it was officially announced that he had signed with WWE.
Night two of Shug's Hoose Party 6 will be held at the O2 Academy Glasgow on Sunday (July 28).

Hopefully This Sad Saga Of A Soap Opera Ends Soon- JARRETT & GFW LOSES APPEAL REGARDING COPYRIGHT CLAIMS AGAINST ANTHEM

Looks Like Jarrett's getting ass kicked. All this time and money over shit nobody and no fan really gives two shits about.

Earllier today, Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw, Jr. of the U.S. District Court Middle District of Tennessee today shot down Global Force Entertainment and Jeff Jarrett's attempt at an interlocutory appeal regarding the court's decision to to dismiss their copyright infringement claim against Anthem, the parent company of Impact Wrestling.

Jarrett and GFE had sued, claiming that Anthem had violated the copyrights and trademarks of GFW Amped! by utilizing and selling GFW Amped! TV episodes via  PPV, streaming and DVD sales.  Jarrett's side had argued that each of the sixteen episodes were worth $300,000.

Over the course of the legal process, Anthem admitted the original masters had been deleted.  Jarrett had been trying to copyright the material (obviously to enhance his claim against Anthem) but was unable to do so because he didn't have the actual tapes.

Back in April, a motion from Jarrett and GWE noted, "This case presents a unique issue.  In anticipation of a merger that ultimately failed, Defendants came into possession of the only copies of master recordings of the sixteen (16) one-hour episodes (the “Episodes”) of Global Force Wrestling (“GFW”) AMPED content (the “Masters”) at issue. There is and can be no dispute that Defendants (1) had the only copy of the Masters and (2) destroyed the Masters. Plaintiffs have alleged each one-hour episode in the Masters is worth up to $300,000."

Anthem had argued that since GWE and Jarrett failed to copyright and trademark their GFW Amped! TV tapes and since Jarrett provided a license for Anthem to use the tapes, there can be no infringement.  Anthem also argued that by law, Jarrett & GWE should have filed their copyrights or have been refused registration in order to claim copyright infringement in court.  Since neither has happened – as Jarrett did not have physical possession of the GFW master tapes, which Impact has already admitted they deleted – Anthem argued that the infringement claim could not go forward in court.

Jarrett had arguing his copyright claim was dismissed because he and GWE did not complete the copyright process of the GFW AMPED! master tapes, but those tapes could not be copyrighted because Impact deleted the masters.  So, since they are at fault for that not taking place, his attorneys argued that Anthem should not let them off the hook.  The court disagreed, shutting down Jarrett's attempts to appeal that decision while the remainder of the legal case moved forward.
The original decision to dismiss the copyright claim has been amended with the following line: "In light of Fourth Estate, Plaintiffs have no right to sue under the Copyright Act, and their copyright claim will be dismissed."

The remainder of Jarrett's lawsuit is still moving forward, with Anthem recently filing a counter-lawsuit against Jarrett and GFE.

Vince McMahon Gets Slammed By Variety

In advance of Vince McMahon and WWE management's investor conference call on Thursday, after WWE announces its second quarter numbers, Variety posted a stinging piece today on WWE's massive loss of audience over the second quarter of this year vs. the same period in 2018.  They referenced the company's statement during the first quarter investor conference call where they blamed the ratings drop for the first three months of 2019 on “superstar absences" by noting that pretty much everyone who was missing then was back for quarter two, yet the audience still dropped.  They ponder how Vince will explain losing viewers this time and note that, "The company’s TV partners, NBCUniversal and Fox, are also reportedly getting anxious about the state of the WWE" given that they will pay a combined $470M a year for Raw and Smackdown starting in October.  They noted what we have been saying here for a while now, that the Raw audience was down around 20 percent year to year, while Smackdown is off about 17%.  They also noted, that WWE's biggest problem is in the creative.  Hopefully a mainstream outlet like Variety can get through to Vince that the main problem with WWE right now comes from the guy he looks at in the mirror.

The WWE stock, which was trading near $100 before they announced the first quarter numbers and then dropped signficantly, is currently trading at $69.90  It will be very interesting to see what happens when the company reports on Thursday.  The stock run up was largely based off of the new TV deals so if WWE has a bad quarter, it's very possible that the stock will drop even lower. It's expected that they will announce on Thursday that they have brought Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff in to fix the problems. Some are wondering if the callers that get through will really press Vince on whether he will give them a legitimate chance to do so or whether he will keep overseeing things.

Jon Moxley Says His WWE Career Was "Pretty Much In A Toilet Bowl"

IWGP US Champion Jon Moxley defeated Tomohiro Ishii yesterday in their G1 Climax 29 match. Moxley is at the top of B Block with 6 points, and is currently undefeated since joining NJPW early last month.
After his match with Ishii, Moxley cut a promo in the ring on how he felt about his wrestling career, and also declared he's winning the G1 Climax.
"Thank you, Tomohiro Ishii for sharing the ring with me tonight, you sick bastard," Moxley said. "A few months ago, my career was pretty much in a toilet bowl, and then you guys welcome me over here to Japan. Made me feel like part of the family. Gave me this canvas on which to paint ugly, gruesome works of art. So I thank you for that.
"Let me tell you this, nobody on this planet, nobody on this Earth, in this world, in this universe can tell me what I'm capable of, or what I can and can't do, what I can or can't accomplish, only I can say that! Let me tell you this, and you better damn sure believe because I'm gonna do it or I'm gonna die trying, get used to it. Jon Moxley is going to win the G1!"
Moxley's next opponent in the G1 Climax is Shingo Takagi. For AEW, Moxley will face Kenny Omega at All Out in Chicago on August 31.

ROH Issues Final Statement Regarding Bully Ray Incident (And It's Not Much Of A Statement Either)

Last month at an ROH live event, a fan recounted his story about having some exchanges with members of The Allure (Velvet Sky, Mandy Leon, and Angelina Love) that led to security bringing him backstage to speak with Bully Ray. According to the fan, who goes by "xIAMHOLLYWOODx" on Twitter, the situation started like this:
"Velvet and I exchange words along with the rest of the Allure," he wrote on Twitter. "Nothing crazy. Mandy Leon spits on me from the side. Not preferable but I honestly don't care. Segment ends. Side note. I love and respect like 99% of all wrestlers. I honest to god never try to make the show ABOUT me, get myself over, etc. My rule of thumb is to boo the bad guys and cheer the good guys. It's rare that I'll flip the script but I always decide to go along with the show."
The Allure came out for another segment and more words were exchanged. This is when security asked him to come to the back where Bully Ray briefly spoke to him. Bully Ray also gave his side of the story. Below is a portion of his statement:
"In retrospect, the 'fan' should have been ejected," Bully Ray wrote on Twitter. "Unfortunately, it wasn't until after 'fan' was asked to not be 'so rude,' did we find out that severity of the vile comments and lewd sexual gestures made towards the women. I think we can all agree that in 2019, this type of behavior towards women is unacceptable and goes far beyond the scope of, 'I paid for my seat, I should be able to do or say whatever I want.' I live by the motto, 'Respectful fans always get what they want. Rude fans always get what they deserve.' At the end of the day, I'm guilty of defending three women that needed a bit of defending. Not by being a bully, by being a man."
Since that time, Kevin Owens reached out and invited the fan to a WWE live event.
Ring of Honor also provided an initial statement about what happened and planned on doing an internal investigation. Many News Sites  have since reached out to Ring of Honor for an update on their investigation and received the following from the company.
"We have now concluded our internal investigation into the events that occurred in Portland on June 2nd and have taken appropriate actions with all parties involved. Our Code of Honor, which calls for sportsmanship, respect and honor in- and outside of the ring is a core value of this company and one we will continue to strive to uphold. To all of our loyal and dedicated fans, we apologize for the incident that transpired and we encourage all of our fans to continue attending our events. Furthermore, we promise to continue delivering the best wrestling and the best live experience on the planet. In adherence to Ring of Honor policy, we will not comment further on these matters."
Of course they won't.
