Bill Is A Heat Magnet, Why Doesn't WP&P, Who Posts The old Stuff, And More

By Gino Bradley

These are questions that came from people using the 'contact form' here on our site. If you have a question or want to make a comment you can use that contact form, or email WP&P at WrestlingPastAndPresent@gmx.com And either I, Donnie Henderson or Bill Walkowitz will answer you.

We may do more of these kind of threads if people actually want to contact us, so it's entirely is now up to you, the people who have come here to WP&P and enjoy what we do.

Are you guys actually okay with having such a heat magnet as Bill Walkowitz on your staff? Isn't someone like him a detriment to your site?

As I pointed out in my contribution to this story https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2022/01/the-success-of-wrestling-past-and.html I knew exactly what I was getting when I went to Bill with the idea of creating this site. Donnie Henderson and I are very happy and very 'okay' (in your word) with having him as head writer. What you might see as a negative has actually been quite the positive for Wrestling Past And Present. We know he pisses people off with what he writes, but Donnie Henderson has revved it up with his recent article on how we 'struck a nerve' because of what we write. The flip side is what Bill has done behind the scenes here to get this site more noticed has been priceless. This site is now listed on so many search engines, ones I've never even heard of and in the last three days several people using Google in Japan, The United Kingdom and Canada have found this site. An example of the success is the screen grab I'll post below. I'm writing this at 6:00 in the morning and this is how many people in the last hour have come to visit this site.

Numbers like that justify having the 'heat magnet' on our staff. The most amusing irony is that the people he angers, still come to this site to see what's posted. In the case of Mike Johnson and Paul Jordan of PWInsider, they still occasionally get ideas for their site from right here at this site. So they may hate what he writes but they still come here anyway. Much of this site's success is because of Bill so if it's not broken, why fix it.

Why don't you guys review the pay per views like other sites do?

Why should we? You answered your own question, other sites do it. Besides the major well known sites there's at least two dozen other sites on Twitter and Facebook that do it, so what could we add that isn't different than what the others would say? Nothing, and if it's a product we don't like, why in the world would we want to waste our time watching it, let alone spending money on it (Like fifty bucks for an AEW PPV that most of it, we didn't care for)? The biggest claim 'some' of these sites like to make is "We HAVE to cover it". No you don't, you 'choose' to cover it, that's the difference. So while others are 'covering' them, micro-analyzing them and have all their focus on them? We'll just post other stuff that we know is out there, that the others have chosen to miss out on because they spent money to 'cover', a pay per view that three dozen other sites are also covering.

I'm fan who came across this site by accident. I love all the older matches and clips. Who's the one doing that because they bring back many old memories?

That would be our above mentioned 'Heat Magnet' Bill. He was a tape dealer back in the day (that's how I first met him, buying tapes from him) and he had like 500, 750 tapes? "From Portland Oregon to Portland Maine and many places in between" was at the top of his tape list. Donnie Henderson our other writer called Bill and this is an exact quote, "A walking fucking encyclopedia of wrestling". It's hard to argue it when he can name champions in all the old territories in the states, Canada, Japan and Germany right off the top of his head. 90% of all the older stuff including the NAWA TV shows from 1990 that's been recently posted is all from Bill.

Since you guys focus a lot on the indie scene, if you were to recommend indie companies/ wrestlers, who would they be?

I myself enjoy Reality Of Wrestling which is owned by Booker T, I also found Coastal Championship Wrestling out of Florida, Donnie Henderson and I both like DEADLOCK Pro Wrestling, and all three of us are fans of Catalyst Wrestling, Freelance Wrestling and Billy Corgan's NWA. Since you live in England Bill's the more experienced at UK Wrestling and I know he enjoys NORTH Wrestling, ICW in Scotland, OTT in Ireland where he's a HUGE fan of the tag team 'The Kings Of The North' and PROGRESS as well as wXw. Darius Carter is to all of us a very under rated heel who works for Warriors Of Wrestling, Catalyst Wrestling and other places. I also enjoy Gino Medina and Davey Richards. Donnie also likes 'Frankie The Clown'.
