The Main Event of RISE 9 - RISE of The Knockouts seemed to be cursed. Originally slated to be Phoenix of RISE Champion Delilah Doom defending against former Champion Shotzi Blackheart, both participants were injured in the week between RISE 8 - OUTBACK and RISE 9. "The Latina Sensation" Mercedes Martinez was slated to be one of the replacement combatants for the vacated Phoenix of RISE Championship. Mercedes seemed to think she would win via forfeit, until "Undeniable" Tessa Blanchard put her name to the contract!
