Road Warriors & Demolition - Why Our Feud in WWF Didn't Work

Vince McMahon has wanted the Road Warriors to join WWE (known as WWF at the time) since the mid 1980s when Animal & Hawk were destroying opponents in NWA Wrestling, AWA and Japan. The Road Warriors were the most dominant tag team in pro wrestling but they didn't arrive in WWF until 1990.

In the meantime, Vince McMahon created a new tag team in 1987 called Demolition. Fans quickly saw the similarities between the Road Warriors & Demolition but the team would only grow in popularity, becoming WWF Tag Team Champions. Ax & Smash (Bill Eadie, Barry Darsow) were on fire for years until McMahon finally signed the Road Warriors in 1990. Fans knew it was time they would finally see their dream match between the two most powerful tag teams of the 1980s. Unfortunately the series came off lackluster to many fans, leaving Demolition to disappear from WWF shortly after.

The Road Warriors interview was conducted in 2000 while the Demolition interview was 2005.
