ROH COO Joe Koff On If There Is A War With WWE Looming
ROH COO Joe Koff spoke with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes. Below are some highlights:
If there's any potential streaming or television deal on the table for ROH:
"I don't have anyone specifically, but I know that there will be somebody because that's how things work. I think there has to be a need, and there has to be a reason, and if I fulfill and can satisfy those reasons, then the benefits can exist and we can start having more serious conversations."
Details between the legal back-and-forth between ROH, WWE and MSG:
"I think that it's been probably blown up more than it is. There was conversation, and there was a back-and-forth and it got to a point where there was an impasse that had to be broken up. But the good news was there was continuous discussion [with MSG] throughout the process. And as long as people are in discussion and dialogue, and we can establish some kind of common ground as opposed to compromise, then things can happen. We just had to work through all those things.
"Obviously, it is their backyard, and it is their home arena. And I have to tell you, my love for wrestling began in that arena when it was on Eighth Avenue, and I saw my first match there. And I knew there was magic between those four posts and underneath those ring lights and it never left me. So to be able to fulfill this dream, not only for but for the fans and for the wrestlers was just penultimate. It was just fabulous."
If it feels like there's a looming war between WWE and ROH:
"It doesn't. If you want me to say it does, it doesn't. I'm focused on my business, and they have a business and they're really, really good at it and if we were to look at the two battle sides, I would feel like maybe—I was just watching Braveheart, so I'm going to just use that analogy here—maybe we're William Wallace in that first battle for the first time. But at the end of the day, they run a business, I run a business.
"There's plenty of room in the space for both businesses, and I don't consider this a war at all. And it would be a silly war to get into. I think we have to stay focused on what we believe in for our companies and follow that course."

Wrestlinginc Had A Chance To Tell The Truth On This But Didn't, But When I Tried Telling THEM?
Pictures tell a thousand words and you can see what these pictures tell, that's for sure. As you can see I broke the story on (again) The WWE putting a match on their Network as a 'Hidden Gem' that's been readily available on Youtube for quite some time. Here's the link to the story right here. https://billsbrandnewblog.blogspot.com/2018/08/wwe-adding-another-match-as-hidden-gem.html I even said that the other wrestling news sites wouldn't have the balls to mention this like I have, and they're again going to be too scared to. Right here as you can see in the pics Wrestlinginc mentioned the video, but the people there had no balls to tell that you can already see this on Youtube. I know for a fact because someone emailed me and told me they were on Twitter and sent Wrestlinginc and acouple other columnists my link to the story. They all bitched up as I said they would and when I tried to trll Wrestlinginc MYSELF about this? You can see by the picture, they banned me.
This is what happens when you tell the truth on something more than they do, they don't like being one upped so instead of giving me credit and spreading the word? Just ban me because they're jealous that I figured something out that they didn't. Typical bitch move, and more proof of why I'll always be the guy who truly tells it like it is over these other places who have to brown nose for intervews and stuff and are afraid of truly telling a story like i have here. Like i said a picture tells a thousand words and proof here, is a mother fucker on what kind of pussies seem to run Wrestlinginc.

Jeff Jarret Files Motion Over GFW Master Tapes Nobody But Him Gives A Shit About
It's not like they've been huge sellers for Impact Wrestling anyway, so really nobody wants to see those old shows and nobody but Jarrett really gives a shit about them.
On Friday 8/24, Jarrett's side filed a motion with the United States District Court of Tennessee regarding the Global Force Wrestling master copies, requesting an expedited discovery where each side gets to request information of the other side through request for answers to interrogatories, request for documents, etc.) regarding the masters while also requesting ruling requiring Anthem to allow them access to the masters so they can be copied as Jarrett's side has filed a copyright on each hour of the 16 hours worth of footage.
The 8/10 motion explains, "Both the request for expedited determination and expedited relief are necessitated by a Copyright Office imposed deadline of September 8, 2018, to submit copies of the episodes to the Copyright Office."
So, basically, copies of the tapes are needed in order for GFE to file their copyrights on the Amped! content. Given that a big part of this lawsuit against Anthem consists of allegations that GFE and Jarrett's copyrights have been violated because Anthem used that content on PPV, streaming services and on DVD without paying for it, proving that Jarrett's sides actually own the copyrights would appear to give a big boost to their legal standing in the case.
The GFW masters were originally filmed as a potential TV series titled GFW Amped! which never found a broadcast home. The footage was re-purposed as PPV content by Anthem during their ill-fated relationship with Jarrett, which included an announced merger between Impact and GFW that was never completed after Jarrett was released by the company in the wake of personal issues. Despite that agreement never being seen through to completion,, Impact went forward with using the GFW content and were selling it on DVD until Jarrett's lawsuit was filed.
The motion also notes that, as of 8/24, neither Anthem nor their attorneys have responded to a letter sent on 8/10 (the same day the Jarrett/GWE vs. Anthem lawsuit was filed) requesting they "voluntarily produce the masters of the episodes for inspection and copying", which is why they are now asking the court to intervene. GFE and Jarrett are requesting the court order Anthem to produce the master tapes and that they must do so within five calendar days of the court's order.
Court records do not indicate Anthem has been officially served with the lawsuit and there has been no response from Anthem filed before the court.
Impact Wrestling officials have not responded to requests for comment from various people on the issue.

.
NWA WCW Wrestling Superstar Billy Graham vs Abdullah The Butcher from 11/85.
Billy Corgan On How WWE Does Business, Matt Riddle, Nick Aldis' Exclusive NWA Contract
Billy Corgan's purchase of the NWA in May of 2017 came less than one year after being ousted as president of TNA. While his mission continues to re-establish the NWA brand, he is taking a different strategy rather than starting a full-fledged professional wrestling company with a complete roster.
Corgan is focused on restoring prestige to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, although it's hard to ignore the strategy WWE uses.
"It's hard to get into the WWE mind about why they do what they do," Corgan said on Busted Open Radio. "I mean it's a what? Gazillion-billion dollar company? The decision making internally on a business level and a booking level, I mean they're obviously doing something right. People are throwing money at them. I mean they're not chasing money, people are throwing money. I wish people would throw money at [the NWA] like that, okay? So we could sit here and pick it all apart all day."
Corgan's eye is focused on talent who WWE is about to make overtures toward. Matt Riddle, a man who seems destined for WWE eventually, was used as an example of a different kind of talent who could present a new take on professional wrestling.
"I tend to look more at who's a talent, a guy that's worth watching is Matt Riddle," Corgan continued. "Very interesting guy obviously coming from the MMA side. You know no one's ever really completely made that transition in a way where it's like they brought that sort of MMA vibe or feeling to professional wrestling, I've always been curious.
"Where Kurt Angle brought the, let's call it classic NCAA wrestler Olympic guy, there were guys of course in the 70's, but nobody had ever had that level of success although the Iron Sheik would obviously [disagree]. He's still complaining, 'I was first.' God bless him.".
Nick Aldis is a wrestler Corgan put a lot of stake in when he became NWA World Heavyweight Champion on December 9th, 2017. Aldis is set to defend his title on September 1st at All Inagainst Cody Rhodes, a man hungry for the championship his father The American Dream held three times.
Busted Open Radio co-host Bully Ray asked Cogan what was next for Aldis win or lose at All In, and the answer was back to NWA business as usual. Corgan plans to continue strengthening the National Wrestling Alliance's brand using the strategy of a traveling champion with a small roster of talent.
"Nick Aldis is exclusive to the NWA, "Corgan said. "So he's an NWA talent and our approach from the beginning has been that we want to identify those talents that we want to sign to the NWA. We don't feel like we necessarily have to carry a full roster. We feel that the way we build our brand is to stay really open in the marketplace, work with whoever wants to work with us, but of course, we have to have talents that are our talents that can carry the NWA forward whether they are or aren't the champion."
Aldis is signed to an exclusive NWA contract which requires him to defend the 10 Pounds Of Gold when and where Corgan sees fit. This can create a rocky situation if Aldis feels his matches are booked without his consent.
Corgan explained that the NWA's rise to prominence is his first priority and in order to do that he must require his champion to be available when needed. While equating it to his own days under a record label's hold, Corgan said Aldis is a pleasure to work with even though he isn't shy of making his opinion known.
"We're in the business of building the NWA," Corgan said. "You sign an exclusive deal with anybody that's just the breaks. When I worked for a record company, I mean they had me doing stuff I didn't necessarily want to do. You know Nick's been an absolute pleasure to work with on the business side but that doesn't mean he doesn't voice his opinion.
"There have been some promotions we've worked with that he wasn't happy about it, he certainly let us know. At the end of the day we said, 'look you know, this is just the way it's gotta be to build this brand back up."

Vince McMahon Gets Punked, Shane Douglas Destroys WWE For Using The Triple Threat Name Two Weeks Ago On Smackdown
Shane Douglas finally broke his silence on the most recent edition of his Triple Threat Podcast regarding the WWE using the longtime ECW stable name "Triple Threat" for enhancement talent. Calling for the writers and WWE management to pay closer attention to the intellectual property as well as attempt to show respect to now deceased former members, "The Franchise" sternly dissects why he feels Vince McMahon's obsession with hurting former talent he can't control still continues on to this day.
"No I did not watch it and I don't watch that product. So I didn't see it when it happened and I wouldn't see if they did it again next week."
"There are certain things that you don't do in our business. There is a reason that you don't go out and like the old song says you don't pull on Superman's cape and you don't spit into the wind and the reasons are obvious to most people but maybe VKM is not most people and has a screw loose so he doesn't understand and spits in the wind daily and gets it back in his face. If you go out and you say something derogatory about the Four Horsemen and I bring that one up first because everyone knows my personal dealings with Ric Flair but the Four Horseman are written in stone. You can take a picture and photoshop it all you want but people remember the Four Horsemen as the symbol of excellence and I still see Arn (Anderson) and Tully (Blachard) holding up the four fingers and you just don't do it because these are things you don't touch. No country music star today goes out and calls themselves "The Man in Black" or "The Woman in Black" and most people are intelligent enough to not do that."
"I think Vince probably got an earful back that he needed to but since Vince seems to stuck on some wrestler from ECW from twenty years ago. (Vince) I'm sure you can find my phone number and if you need help with your ratings than give me a call and I'd be happy to sell them to you or you can continue to fall like you are. If I were an investor with say Merrill Lynch or Charles Schwab I'd think twice in wanting to invest in a company that wanted to invoke something from twenty years ago in such a derogatory way and sh*t on so many fans like VKM did last week and got his earful back for it."
"Me, Brian Lee and Dean Malenko are the only living members of the Triple Threat. When people say "The Triple Threat" they think of Shane Douglas and Francine, Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow. So for that company to take a slap at a group where two of the guys have passed and gone WAY to early, just shows the amount of class that company has. Classless. Maybe we should start calling them the World Classless Federation. It's pathetic. When I was there in 95/96 I wanted to take shots at other companies for the WWF and Vince told me at that point that they tried to stay above that. Apparently, the ratings have dropped so much that the mighty Vince McMahon must now think he's got to start take shots at deities from our past in the industry and things that are written in stone to try and get the ratings up. Funny thing is that Vince won't send a paycheck for residuals for what he is doing when he is evoking that. I think we've already spent too much time on this. My advice to the fans would be just stop watching. Stop paying attention to the garbage and maybe then they would get back to what our industry is supposed to be and maybe their ratings will turn around because what were they ten years ago? Nine years ago? Eight years ago? Last year? The year before that? Don't take my word for it, do your own investigation."
"This is the company that Vince McMahon has created. Everybody is a "yes" man, everybody kisses Vince's ass but my question is where is everyone's pride? Has everyone just become so complacent that you'll kiss his ass on television or figuratively in the back, but you just keep kissing ass? Come on. My lips have been chapped most of my life and I've never put them on a nice smooth ass of another person and it boggles my mind. I'm sure that Chris Candido's family and I'm sure Bam Bam Bigelow's sons and daughter are very appreciative of that from the "genius". I don't want to give it more credence than it should get because obviously people didn't watch it and my guess is less people will be watching next week, next month, next year and we've spoken enough about that piece of sh*t now lets move on."

Cody Rhodes Talks Choosing The Main Event For 'All In,' WGN America Coming To Them, All In 2?
Cody Rhodes spoke with The Beat on choosing which match would close "All In," if there will be another "All In," and working with WGN America. Here are some of the highlights:
Prospects of an "All In 2":
"Well I mean this crew is together a lot. One day we're all in Japan and the next day its here and when I say crew I mean more than just me and the Bucks, you know it includes Marty [Scurll], Hangman [Page], and Kenny Omega. They're all very much factored into everything that's happening. I think we've pushed off all pre-planning and speculation to September 2nd. Because it's pretty common knowledge our contracts [with Ring of Honor] are coming up. They all end on the same day, shockingly.
"I mean what do we do? We have such great things in place already. Matt, Nick, Marty, Hangman, we've had such a great time in Ring of Honor and they've been such a great partner, on this project alone, by allowing us to breach our contract to do this. None of us wanted to come at this from a place of anxiety. Instead, we wanted to look at what we've done and ask, "Okay, now what can we do?" I think September 2nd is going to be an interesting day, for sure."
Working with WGN American to put on the one hour pre-show, All In: Zero Hour:
"It came later in the game, WGN America had actually approached us about the entire show and that was a great thing except it would have to be a little bit more streamlined for television. As important as matches are to me and seeing them get proper time like you see in New Japan, we couldn't do commercials and make it two hours. So that idea went away and then it became the idea of doing a pre-show. We sort of said, 'Well, let's not do that, but instead give them two really good matches featuring from the All In crew. Let's make it something special.'
"It became an opportunity to add one more feather in our cap, so to speak. Wrestling was going to be back on a major network and it wasn't going to be WWE … or even any one company. It's just three dudes and their idea. Growing up, my dad [Dusty Rhodes] put Jim Crockett's promotion on Turner at 6:05 [PM] and what Vince did with USA [Network], then the wars. I couldn't turn down the chance at putting our show on a network."
Choosing the main event for "All In":
"The main event will be the six-man; Rey Mysterio, Bandito, and Fenix against The Golden Elite (Young Bucks & Kota Ibushi). At one point it was going to be Kenny Omega vs. Pentagon, but what you see on Being The Elite is true, as silly as it may seem. Asking Kenny to do the main event was a lot after the G1 tournament [New Japan Pro Wrestling]. But I think you have the spirit of the event in the souls of Matt and Nick. Then there's Rey who was the guy who gave me my first WrestleMania, my first break, so there's a special nod there. Also, I just want to see what they can do in the ring together. As a fan, I'm excited for that."
I Wonder Who Taught Him Not To Do Jobs. :) Hulk Hogan Reveals Who Taught Him To 'Hulk Up' And No-Sell Opponent's Moves
Hulk Hogan's legendary appeal was successful because so many little things helped make his character work. The Hulkster was an icon during his heyday as he transfixed audiences with his finger waving, flexing, and shirt ripping. Hogan opened up on Apter Chat where he discussed the etymology of many aspects in his wrestling persona and the inspiration he was fortunate to choose from.
Hogan spent one year working for Vince McMahon Sr. in 1979, but he left to transform into the Superstar we know today. During his hiatus from the New York territory, Hogan found much of his footing and eventually returned in 1983 when Hulkamania ran wild.
"You know when I left the WWE originally [in 1980] and I went to work for Verne Gagne, I had a great deal in Japan," Hogan remembered. "I spent weeks and weeks, sometimes twenty weeks a year over there and I loved it over there because I actually got to wrestle over there and I didn't have to do the 'ear thing' and it was just totally different, it was fun for me it was kinda like how I learned how to wrestle.
"So going to Japan was fun and stuff like that but I've always dreamed about being the champion in New York. When I was there the first time [Bob] Backlund was the champion and even as a bad guy, kinda like how I heard how the crowd reacted to me and Andre [The Giant] at Shea Stadium, the Superdome -- not the Silverdome, brother -- for Bill Watts and working with Mike Labelle -- I worked all over with Andre. Then even in Japan, I was always the heel and I had that black leather armband and [Classy Freddy] Blassie would load it with a piece of metal and then I'd knock Andre out with it. "There was always that really great reaction so I had always dreamed that, 'Oh my gosh, if I could [do this in WWE].'"
Hogan was starting to put the pieces together as a heel and then he received some treasured advice from Gagne which really set his previous experience into high gear. Until then, Hogan was selling like any wrestler normally would, but through his time with Gagne, Hogan was able to add a vital aspect to his repertoire which became a staple of his Character.
"When I first started working in Pensacola [Florida], Austin Idol was there," Hogan said. "He used to be a friend of my brother's before my brother passed away.
"I knew [Idol] as a kid and he was really nice to me because he knew my brother really well. So when I went to work with him in Pensacola I watched him and he had the gimmick down, brother. He was the first one that I heard say 'Idolmania' so guess what I did? Guess who's the first one I saw do 'the ear?' Austin Idol, I saw Austin do it. So I kinda watched him work and I said, 'Oh okay, I get it... Austin Idol, Dusty Rhodes... I got this. I can figure this one out.' So I kinda took the hot sauce from each one of those guys.
"You know when I'd go down to sell and that one finger would come up brother... you know I'm selling and that one finger starts shaking. That's Dusty Rhodes all day long."
Hogan merged many different aspects of different legends in order to create something special for himself. One unique part of his persona came when he would rip off his shirts to pop the crowd. Hogan explained how he first stumbled across this idea and that the pre-cut rips in the back of his iconic look were due to a strategic necessity.
"I was in a six-man tag at the Rosemont Horizon [now Allstate Arena] and the place was sold-out of course," Hogan said. "It was me, Greg Gagne, and Jim Brunzell in the AWA [...] There were three Sheiks against us three and that night when I was in the ring I had a shirt made up that said 'Hulkamania' on the front and 'Python Power' on the back at the local mall there and in the middle of the ring, Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell ran up to me and ripped my shirt off -- just ripped it off me. I was in crazy shape back then, I was a lot younger and the crowd went nuts. I went, 'Okay... that worked!' I didn't even know they were gonna do it. So I just start ripping my shirt off after that, you know?
"But the cuts in the back were my ex-wife. I used to buy smaller shirts -- the bigger I'd look, right? So instead of buying like an extra large shirt I'd but a medium shirt and there's no way I could fit in it. So I'd cut the sleeves off so it'd make me look just huge. Then because I didn't want to look like an idiot and some shirts are harder to rip, I'd always put a little tiny cut in the neckline so it would tear evenly when you pull it. Because sometimes you go to rip a shirt and you just can't do it and you look like an idiot, you know?

She goes, 'Let me make it a little better for you.' So she cut the three little cuts in the back which actually gave me room to breathe and opened my shirt up a little more. So that's where all that stuff started."
Don Callis said he wanted to "get rid of the silliness" in Impact Wrestling, BUT... What About, THIS!?
Don Callis has said many times that as a booker in Impact Wrestling he wants to 'get rid of the silly stuff" But yet here's silly stuff like that that he and Amore booked. So I again ask, How is it you're going to get rid of the silly stuff when YOU'RE booking the silly stuff? Dumb ass.
LAX was on “the block” celebrating their win last week to get back the Impact World Tag Team Championship. OGz were shown driving in a car while LAX celebrated. Konnan said he had a big surprise in his car across the street. Konnan told LAX and the rest of the boys to come with him. The OGz pulled up almost ran down Konnan with a car, but they did run over the kid with the belts before the show cut to a break.
(McMahon’s Analysis: Did they just kill a child on television? I think they just killed a child on TV, and it didn’t even close the show. … I’m a big LAX fan. In fact, I think they’ve been the best act in wrestling for the last year. But these heavily-produced, non-realistic segments I’m not a fan of. It’s not on the talent, but the idea that this type of production works on a wrestling show, where you’re supposed to be simulating a sport, is lost on me).
— Back from the break, Mathews and Callis were on camera and said it was their job to continue the show, but something has to be done about the OGz. Mathews then previewed what would happen next week at ReDefined.
(McMahon’s Analysis: Hey, a child may have died outside, but here’s what’s happening next week! Now onto the death match in our main event! … Seriously though, this is why that type of storytelling and production doesn’t work in pro wrestling. Not when you have to come back from a break and go to the next match, while a kid was apparently just killed outside the building, on your TV show.)
You can read that and see what I mean, here.
Carlito On What He's Learned Since His WWE Run, Risks In Operating The WWE Performance Center
Carlito Calon captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship, US Title, and two pairs of tag team gold during his seven-year run with Vince McMahon and Company. The second-generation Superstar has changed since 2010, but so has World Wrestling Entertainment.
Carlito recently called into the Chair Shots To The Cranium show and said he's focusing a lot of time recently on NBA 2k as he looks to earn a 99 rating. He is also busy working the independent wrestling scene and commented that he travels overseas more often now than he did during his tenure with WWE.
It's been eight years since Carlito's WWE release, but the last time we saw him on WWE television was during the 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony for his father Carlos Calon Sr.'s induction. Carlito spoke about what he's learned since his WWE release and credits his own maturation to continuing his physical shape.
"I think I've had time to really think about things," Carlito said. "I enjoy the slowed-down pace. What I've learned is kinda like what I think the great athletes like basketball players and stuff what you start to learn as your physical abilities start to dissipate or whatever. You start to adjust to succeed otherwise.
"I feel like a much better wrestler just because of new ways that I have found to workaround situations and entertain people. It's like a total difference performance now than when I was younger when I was just worried about how high I could jump or what flip I could do."
Although the WWE PC is a valuable resource, Carlito acknowledged that so many people training from a single source could produce an aspect of uniformity detracting from some of the individual NXT Superstars' personal characteristics.
"I don't know much about NXT, I don't really see much of it," Carlito continued. "I heard it's a great product. I heard the [WWE Performance Center] is a state-of-the-art thing like you know, I wish we had that in our day -- we didn't have that -- so you know they have a whole staff training. Not just wrestling, but weight training and all kinds of stuff
"I think it's great. The only thing is I've always been a fan of not throwing everything into one bucket, like having different styles. I feel like a lot of those guys just go into a system and instead just work the system's style and they start to deviate from what makes them unique."
